Yes, I'm feeling a little silly this morning. Please have a look at what below and give your opinion.

Even if you don't know anything about the game; feel free to critique balance.

Alpha Centauri factions as Races!!!(?)

All Races are a subset of Human. They are treated as Human for the purposes of any spell
or effect that specifically effects Humans and receive the standard Human Bonus feat and bonus skill points.

If used in a setting wherein these are the only permitted playable races, treat all the
below as LA +0 Humanoids. If used alongside more traditional races treat all the below
as LA +1 Outsiders, coming as they are from the Video plane.

Spartan:
+2 Con, +2 Int, -2 Chr
The militaristic citizens of the Federation are tough and adaptable, but a little brusque and utilitarian in manner and dress.
Special: All martial weapon proficiencies if first class level or type does not grant this, otherwise, +4 Initiative.

Gaian:
+2 Con, +2 Wis, -2 Str
Gaias Stepdaughters have become adept at smoothly blending their lifestyles in with nature and accepting the perils of Planet, but are reluctant to exercise brute force.
Special: Wild empathy. A Gaian who also receives Wild Empathy as a class feature receives a +4 Insight bonus when using this ability.

Hiver:
+2 Dex, +2 Wis, -2 Str
The subjects of Yang's immortal socialist paradise exhibit excellent survival skills, but years of crippling labour in the dark and chronic undernourishment have enfeebled them.
Special: Low-light vision.

Morganite:
+2 Int, +2 Chr, -2 Con
The shareholders of the Industries are a glittering and cultured lot, although a little lacking in staying power.
Special: Bardic Knowledge. Use character level to calculate checks. A Morganite Bard may
exchange the class feature for Bardic Knack or Lore Song while retaining the Bardic Knowledge he receives from his race.

Academician:
+2 Int, +2 Dex, -2 Wis
The citizens of the increasingly-poorly named University of Planet are consummate researchersand adept at getting out of the way when things go wrong, though lacking the common sense to not make things go wrong in the first place.
Special: Uncanny Dodge.

Believer:
+2 Str, +2 Chr, -2 Int
The followers of Miriam Godwinsson are a forceful and empassioned bunch, though a little short on practiced reasoning ability.
Special: Rage 1/day, either regular or Whirling Frenzy. Rage uses stack with those granted
from actual class levels.

Peacekeeper:
+2 Int, +2 Chr, -2 Dex
Thorough and fair-minded, balanced, and affable, the Peacekeepers sometimes appear a little slow to recognise and react to threats that can't be reasoned with.
Special: Sense Motive, Bluff, and Diplomacy are always class skills.

I like the idea. A few comments.

0) Is this 3.5 or PF? I'd guess PF, looking at the stats.

1) Why isn't this in homebrew?

2) Outsiders are proficient with all martial weapons. Might want to consider this with their racial bonus (I guess in a game with other races, they'd just always get +4 Initiative).

3) What if an Academician gets Uncanny Dodge from elsewhere? The usual it-gets-bumped-up business?

4) For Peacekeeper... now I'm not too keen on PF, but I seem to recall reading something like once you have a class skill, it's always a class skill. Or something along those lines. Or maybe I'm just blowing hot air.

5) LA +1 seems too steep for Outsider type.

6) Low-light vision is pretty lackluster for Hiver, especially if they have Darkvision from being an Outsider. I mean, I understand they function quite differently... just sayin'.

7) No Alien Crossfire factions? ;)

Tell the truth; I was going to make the fallback any bonus feat from the Fighter Bonus list, but I thought that might be a bit strong. If it seems fine then can change to that.



3) What if an Academician gets Uncanny Dodge from elsewhere? The usual it-gets-bumped-up business? Yes. Should have specified that. Forgot Uncanny Dodge is one of those things that's different for everyone.


4) For Peacekeeper... now I'm not too keen on PF, but I seem to recall reading something like once you have a class skill, it's always a class skill. Or something along those lines. Or maybe I'm just blowing hot air. I could just make it a static bonus to those skills. Peacekeeper I was stuck for ideas since they're very much the "bland" faction.

How about Hide in Plain Sight (so they can avoid their overseers?)

7) No Alien Crossfire factions? ;) Don't have Alien Crossfire.:smallfrown:

I'm not convinced Gaians deserve -2 Str, but I felt I had to penalize them somewhere.
