I seem to remember something that would allow you to shoot alchemist fire a long distance, kinda of like a sling shot, but can't seem to find it again, does anyone know what item I am looking for?

The Gnome Calculus from Arms and Equipment guide is the only thing I've seen do this. It is an exotic ranged weapon and increases the range of the vials to 50ft.

Thats it, I think. Dang its an exotic weapon, I don't want to have to take a feat to use it :smallfrown: Granted I could just use it with the -4 I suppose.

You're attacking touch AC anyway, so the penalty isn't that much of a problem.

Yeah, at a distance of 40 feet, you are netting a +2 to attack , and 2 more at 50'.You increase your max distance by at least 200 ft as well. Not sure if it is still considered thrown, but it definitely isn't a bow so probably 250 max range. That would be damn useful for castle defense.

The Launch Item spell(SpC) is a cantrip for sorcerers and wizards that gives a fine item a launch range of medium(100+10/level ft.) It specifically says you can use the spell on things like acid flasks and thunderstones. You make a normal attack roll at no penalty.

Note the normal (as opposed to touch) attack roll.

Just aim for their square, it has a AC of 5

That's going to make it a very expensive attack: 20 gp for 1 point of damage.
A direct hit deals 1d6 points of fire damage. Every creature within 5 feet of the point where the flask hits takes 1 point of fire damage from the splash.

Hopefully you're crafting them or something.

Gnome calculus, launch item spell, alchemical sling bullets, and alchemists arrows are your best options for setting things on fire at a distance without magic
