-When someone dies, their soul is sent to be judged before going to the plane they are destined for. Sometimes, a soul recognizes the great evil he committed in life and truly wishes to repent. Most realize this only too late, their fate consigning them to the lower plains, or realize soon enough and may ascent to the heavens. There are those, however, that fall in the middle. They repent in the moment before their condemnation to Hell, yet too late to find salvation. In this middle ground, they are sent back, reincarnated to give the individual one last chance at salvation, bestowed with great power but marked by hell itself. Most will never truly redeem themselves, their heroics in their second life only serving to delay the inevitable. The laws that made their reincarnation possible ensure only the most exceptional hellbred ascend to the celestial planes. As such, only a heroic act truly worthy of legend can release them from their fate. Sullen and methodical, hellbred seldom rush into battle without making sure every angle is covered. Most eventually die in their efforts, coming to throw themselves into their crusades with reckless abandon and affording themselves a direct and one-way trip to Hell.
-Physical Description: Only the faintest aspects of their previous life remaining, hellbred appear as humanoids with traits associated with devils. Horns, scales, and unusually colored skin are common traits among them though there are those lacking any or all of these in particular. Their eyes glow, typically being solid orbs of red, gold, or white. However Hell's influence upon them manifests, they are horrific to behold.
-Society: Hellbred are damned, outcasts, and remarkably rare. As such they lack a society of their own. Wanderers more often than not, hellbred travel from place to place to root out evil as well as to avoid the wrath of those who would seek to strike him down, blind to his intents.
-Relations: So long as they keep their nature concealed, hellbred have little problem interacting with other races. Otherwise, they frequently find themselves faced with revulsion. Hellbred often can find the good in all creatures, seeing past appearances to judge people for their merits. Good aligned members of races typically known for evil, such as drow and tieflings, prove to be constant companions to hellbred.
-Alignment and Religion: Hellbred are born of souls seeking redemption for their transgressions in their previous life and eradicating evil. As such they are near universally Lawful Good, though those of other good alignments are known to exist. For their second chance, the majority of hellbred devote themselves wholeheartedly to deities of good, the most common of which being Sarenrae.
-Adventurers: Time is short, and in all likelihood there is no reward awaiting a hellbred at the end of his life. All he has to look forward too, in spite of his efforts, is Hell itself. As a result, a hellbred seeks to achieve great deeds of heroism. He struggles against evil, inside and out, to prove his worth in the hope he can escape his fate.
-Names: Though they retain little to no clear memory of their life before, their name frequently lingers with them. More often than not, however, they take on a new name that they find fitting to their new nature.

HELLBRED RACIAL TRAITS
-+2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence (Or) +2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma, -2 Constitution: Hellbred characters gain either a +2 racial bonus to Strength and Constitution and a -2 racial penalty to Intelligence, or a +2 racial bonus to Wisdom and Charisma and a -2 racial penalty to Constitution.
-Hellbred: Hellbred are humanoids of the hellbred subtype.
-Medium: Hellbred are Medium creatures and receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
-Normal Speed: Hellbred have a base speed of 30ft.
-Darkvision: Hellbred have darkvision out to 120ft.
-Damned: Hellbred select a damnation feat as a bonus feat at 1st level, and his soul is promised to a devil. At 5th, 10th, and 15th level, he gains an additional damnation feat of his choice. His alignment does not change as a result of these bonus feats, though all other positive and negative effects relating to this feat still apply.
-Evil Exception: Regardless of alignment or class restriction, a hellbred can use abilities with the evil descriptor without repercussion and never gains negative levels while wilding evil magic items, such as unholy weapons. This ability does not shield a hellbred from losing access to class features if he violates a class's code of conduct, only that he is capable of using the tools of evil and doing so doesn't count against him.
-Languages: Hellbred begin play speaking Infernal. Hellbred with high Intelligence scores can choose any language they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).

VARIANTS
-While hellbred strictly refers to those destined for hell and repent at the right moment, there are others bound to different places. "Abyssbred", for instance, refers to those who's fate would have them cast into the abyss and they repent within a certain range of time. In this case, they are promised to a demon instead and possess physical traits reminiscent of demons. There are variants for all evil aligned planes, where they are connected to the predominant fiend of that plane, as well as the plane of shadow, where they are connected to kyton.

An update to the 3.5 race from the fiendish codex II. I don't mind them being on the strong side of things, as the repercussions are largely RP based, and the fact that if you die it will not be easy getting you back, but I would like to be sure it is still balanced.
