Abandoned Church (Formerly Heaven's Exiles)

[AmberVael]

This church is located on the outskirts of the town. It is on an old, secluded hilltop inside run-down church that apparently has no deity. All of the chairs and the altar are in pretty good condition. The doors are lined in gold, but they are worn a little. There is a secret cellar behind the altar. An old organ sits in the back. The church is about 60ft. tall and the spire is about 70ft. tall. Behind the altar is a hatch that leads to a meeting room. The meeting room has a round table with chairs lined up around it. The weapons and equipment room is to the left, the lounge is on the right, and the main hallway is straight ahead. Inside of the main hallway the library is on the first right, and an office is at the end of the hallway. The infirmirary is the second right. The training room is the first left. The realm portal is the second left. The prison is on the third right. The church is immune to damage.

Infirmirary:
There are magical beds in the infirmirary that can instantly heal any wound, but cannot resurrect the dead.

Prison Cells:
There are prison cells in the guild. These are unbreakable and there is a constant anti-magic field inside all of the cells. Nobody can teleport inside or outside of the cells.

[Kyrian]

Rafael attempts to take Signy's hand as they wait.

[AmberVael]

Signy lets him and looks over at Sikka.

[Lykan]

Kalar enters the room

Is everyone okay?

Sikka nods. Kalar sighs

Well... That threw a monkeywrench in a peaceful day.

[Kyrian]

Are you ok, Kalar? Rafael asks, beginning to breathe heavily.

[AmberVael]

Signy ruffles her wings a little.

[Kyrian]

Rafael sits back, still breathing heavily. He lets go of his daughter's hand to put pressure on his bandaged right arm, which is bleeding through.

[Lykan]

Kalar nods

He didn't hit me hard.

He looks over at Signy, and bites his lip

You doing okay?

[AmberVael]

Signy nods to Kalar and looks up at Rafael worriedly.

[Kyrian]

Rafael softly smiles at her, applying more pressure.

[Lykan]

Kalar sighs

Well, good...

He sheatehs his blades and sits in a corner. Sikka raises an eyebrow, but doesn't say anything.

[AmberVael]

Signy looks even more worried and she ruffles her wings uncertainly.

[Kyrian]

What's wrong...?

[AmberVael]

Signy's eyes are on the wound he recieved.

[Kyrian]

I'll be fine, princess...it just...hurts, a little.

[Lykan]

Kalar and Sikka just watch

[Kyrian]

All that's...important is that you three...are ok.

[AmberVael]

Signy doesn't seem very happy at all.

[Kyrian]

Daddy's going to be ok, Princess...

[Lykan]

Sikka looks at Rafael's wound

Our sister can heal you. I know where she is.

[AmberVael]

Signy continues to look distressed.

[Kyrian]

Rafael lets go of his arm and offers Signy his hand. It's still clean.

[AmberVael]

Signy holds his hand tightly.

[Lykan]

Sikka sighs, looking at the too. Kalar begins playing with his ball again

[Kyrian]

Sikka...how soon will she be here? Rafael smiles softly at Signy.

[AmberVael]

Signy looks at the maze they are in, wondering if they might want to leave.
She, of course, doesn't say this out loud.

[Lykan]

She bites her lip

Oh, I was figuring we'd go to her... She doesn't like going outside.

[Kyrian]

Rafael slowly stands, keeping Signy's hand in his. Let's...let's go then.

[Lykan]

Kalar gets up and leads the way ouy of the cathedral. Sikka follows, stopping to make sure that the other two are following.

[AmberVael]

Signy starts to lead them out of the winding and confusing maze, having no problem finding her way.

[Kyrian]

Rafael keeps Signy's hand the whole time.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles as they get outside, then looks at Kalar and Sikka.

[Lykan]

Kalar and Sikka eventually get out, behind Signy and Rafael

... What the heck? How'd you get out so fast?

[Kyrian]

What can I say....my daughter's a genius...

[Lykan]

Your daughter?

Don't dwell on it.

Sikka and Kalar lead the way to the Workshop

((brb... food time))

[Kyrian]

Rafael circles the church a couple of times, slowly, before he comes to a landing right outside the main doors.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles and shifts in his arms, wanting to get onto the ground.

[Kyrian]

Rafael chuckles and sets her down after kissing her cheek again.

[AmberVael]

Signy goes inside and to the front of the church, near the altar, where she sits down and looks around.

[Kyrian]

Rafael enters after her, his wings folding against his back and slowly fading away.

[AmberVael]

Signy spreads her hands and white light slowly passes between them.

[Kyrian]

Rafael quietly walks to her, watching with amazement.

[AmberVael]

A sphere of glass takes shape, a glass flower hollowed out of the middle.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles a bit, and continues to stand and watch her.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles and sets it on the altar, then sees a stained glass window with a crack in it.
The crack wasn't there last time.
She frowns and goes over to the window, looking at it sadly.

[Kyrian]

Rafael watches her. What's wrong, princess?

[AmberVael]

Signy places one hand gently on either side of the crack and stares at it.

[Kyrian]

Rafael goes over to her.

[AmberVael]

Signy turns a looks up at Rafael, her eyes sad.

[Kyrian]

Rafael ruffles her hair a little, and studies the window, before tying to recreate the missing pieces.

[AmberVael]

It isn't so much that pieces are missing, it is that the pieces already there are broken. They are in place, just not whole.

[Kyrian]

Exactly. Rafael's attempting to fix it, using what's still there to try and determine what he creates.

[AmberVael]

Rafael finds it very, very hard to do. It is if there is some energy within it that is resisting him.

[Kyrian]

Rafael puts one hand on Signy's shoulder, and the other on the window, and closes his eyes, concentrating on mending it.

[AmberVael]

The energy within the window suddenly shifts, and with a slight crackling sound the window simply merges back together as the energy pushes Rafael's power to success like a wave pushing driftwood to the shore.

[Kyrian]

Rafael opens his eyes and smiles at Signy.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles back at him, a very slight white glow fading from her eyes.

[Kyrian]

Rafael raises an eyebrow. You ok, princess?

[AmberVael]

Signy nods and smiles, then hugs him.

[Kyrian]

Rafael puts his arms around her, and a couple of tears fall down his cheeks.

[AmberVael]

Signy doesn't notice, as she is too busy being hugged and happy.

[Kyrian]

Rafael ruffles Signy's hair a bit.

[AmberVael]

Signy pulls away after a little and goes to sit in a pew, creating small spheres about the size of marbles.

[Kyrian]

Rafael sits nearby. Whatcha making?

[AmberVael]

Signy shrugs and keeps making them.
After a while the ones she created earlier begin glowing different colors.

[Kyrian]

Rafael watches her with a smile.

[AmberVael]

After a while Signy begins making something that looks almost like a tree.

[Kyrian]

Rafael watches her and gives a small sigh. He needed practice, and he could sense that he'd need it soon.

[AmberVael]

Signy gently begins placing the spheres in small niches of the tree, fitting them in perfectly.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles as he watches her. He slowly stands up and looks around the room, trying to see if there's anywhere clear enough to practice.

[AmberVael]

There is a practice room in the back meant for such things.
It was a guild, after all.

[Kyrian]

Rafael doesn't want to leave Signy out of sight though, so he ignores any room that causes him to lose such sight. He gets up and goes to the other side of the room, and begins pushing pews around, trying to clear a space.

[AmberVael]

He gets a nice, wide open area clear.

[Kyrian]

Rafael looks back to Signy as his clothing shifts from his normal clothing to his battle outfit. Gram appears sheathed on his back.

[AmberVael]

Signy is still creating the tree and the spheres that go in it.

[Kyrian]

Rafael closes his eyes, remembering the fight with the energy bladed creature. He slowly draws Gram from it's resting place, and holds it ready, as he opens his eyes and slowly goes through the motions of the fight.

[AmberVael]

Signy stops what she is doing and looks up at him.

[Kyrian]

Rafael reaches the point in the fight where he's dropped to the ground, and lays down on the floor. He closes his eyes for a brief moment, searching within himself for whatever it is that makes him believe he could stand up against anything for Signy, and even for Aesa if required.

[AmberVael]

Signy tilts her head as she watches.

[Kyrian]

There's something in me. Something that allows these people to believe in me. Where. What is it. I'm nothing. Why do they still believe? Rafael still lays there.

[AmberVael]

Signy keeps watching Rafael, not understanding what he is doing.

[Kyrian]

Rafael continues to lay there, doubting himself. He doesn't notice as energy seems to gather around him.

[AmberVael]

Signy hums and turns back to her tree.

[Kyrian]

Several of the closest pews that Rafael had pushed aside start sliding around the floor, some drawing closer to him, others sliding away.

[AmberVael]

Signy looks up again, then starts and folds her wings around herself and her glass creation.

[Kyrian]

Rafael slowly stands, energy still whipping around him. There is a fiercely determined look in his eyes as a pew from behind him seems to jump and heads for the back of his head.

[AmberVael]

Signy huddles next to her pew, quite scared.

[Kyrian]

As the pew would hit Rafael, it vanishes, and Rafael falls back to his knees, eyes closed, though several tears fall. I won't fail Signy again....what kind of father am I...

[AmberVael]

Signy keeps watching him, a fair bit freaked by it all.

[Kyrian]

I won't lose Signy....I can't. I've got to protect her. But I'm not strong. I"m not a good father...please. She believes in me. I have to be strong.

[AmberVael]

Daddy? Who are you talking to?
Signy looks pretty scared.

[Kyrian]

Rafael opens his eyes and looks to Signy, trying to stop his tears. Just myself, princess....don't worry...no one's here. I just....I don't know if I'm a good father...

[AmberVael]

Signy ruffles her wings, and she just seems concerned and confused.

[Kyrian]

Rafael slowly stands and goes over towards Signy. I'm sorry, princess...I didn't mean to frighten you. I'm just worried I'm not a good father.

[AmberVael]

Signy's wings shake and she looks up at him pleadingly.

[Kyrian]

Rafael offers her a hug. What is it, princess?

[AmberVael]

Signy calms down a little and hugs him.

[Kyrian]

What do you think, princess? Am I a good father? Rafael holds her close, never really wanting to let go.

[AmberVael]

Signy nods to him, ruffling her wings.

[Kyrian]

Rafael kisses her cheek. Daddy loves you. I really do.

[AmberVael]

Signy nods again and smiles.

[Kyrian]

I'm sorry I scared you, princess. Rafael ruffles her hair slightly.

[AmberVael]

Signy closes her eyes and tilts her head up towards him, beaming.

[Kyrian]

Rafael beams back at her and with the back of his hand gently strokes her cheek.

[AmberVael]

Signy turns back to her tree and keeps adding on to it.
It is about a foot and a half tall.

[Kyrian]

Rafael sits next to her and watches with a smile. It's lovely.

[AmberVael]

Signy gives him a brief smile, then keeps adding on.

[Kyrian]

So...is there a purpose behind it?

[AmberVael]

Signy shakes her head, but doesn't seem bothered.

[Kyrian]

Rafael sits and watches.

[AmberVael]

Signy keeps adding on until the tree is two feet tall, and has about ten glowing spheres in it.

[Kyrian]

Rafael continues to wonder about it, but smiles as he watches her.

[AmberVael]

The tree is nice and decorative and glowy.

[Kyrian]

Rafael reaches out and lightly rubs his daughter's back.

[AmberVael]

Signy hums very softly and preens.

[Kyrian]

Rafael gently tries to pull her a little closer to him.

[AmberVael]

Signy sits in his lap and is happy.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles at her, happy that she is happy.

[AmberVael]

Signy seems to have fallen asleep while he was in dead time.

[Kyrian]

Rafael notices this, and holds her close, curling himself up around her protectively. I won't fail you again, princess... He looks to the dead ring on his hand, but refuses to part with it.

[AmberVael]

Signy remains asleep.

[Kyrian]

Rafael leans his back against a pew and continues holding Signy. His wings reform and he folds them around them both.

[Kyrian]

Rafael slowly wakes, and keeps his wings around him and his daughter. He slowly runs his hand through her hair.

[AmberVael]

Signy is still asleep, though her wings shift a bit.

[Kyrian]

Rafael continues to hold her close, and worries.

[AmberVael]

Signy finally opens her eyes and smiles up at him.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles down at her. Morning, princess.

[AmberVael]

Signy ruffles her wings and curls up tighter.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles at her. Comfy?

[AmberVael]

She nods and ruffles her wings again, smiling.

[Kyrian]

Who's my cute princess? Rafael grins and strokes her cheek gently.

[AmberVael]

Signy beams up at him and puts her arms around him.

[Kyrian]

Rafael kisses her cheek as she does so. That's right. You.

[AmberVael]

Signy curls up in his arms again and closes her eyes, humming happily.

[Kyrian]

I love you so much, Signy. Rafael chuckles slightly. I'm sorry...I'm always telling you that.

[AmberVael]

Signy's wings twitch and she remains curled up.

[Kyrian]

Is there anything you'd like to do today?

[AmberVael]

She shakes her head.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles. Good, I'd rather not move from this yet either.

[AmberVael]

Signy seems to be falling asleep again.

[Kyrian]

Rafael holds her there and lets her sleep.

[Kyrian]

Rafael continues holding Signy and stares at his ring.

[AmberVael]

Signy wakes up and wriggles a bit, trying to get down.

[Kyrian]

Oh, sorry princess. Rafael removes his wings from around them and allows Signy to get down.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles and stands up, taking Rafael's hand.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles as he allows his hand to be taken. We going somewhere?

[AmberVael]

Signy carefully picks up her tree and puts it over on the altar and looks at it for a bit.

[Kyrian]

It looks beautiful.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles up at him and starts to leave the church.

[Kyrian]

Rafael follows her. Where are we going?

[AmberVael]

Signy stops and frowns, thinking about it.
Now that it has been brought to her attention, she doesn't seem to know.

[Kyrian]

Is there somewhere you'd like to go?

[AmberVael]

Signy nods slowly.

[Kyrian]

Rafael hugs her. Where'd you like?

[AmberVael]

Signy shakes her head.

[Kyrian]

How about the beach?

[AmberVael]

Signy frowns and shakes her head.

[Kyrian]

Back home?

[AmberVael]

Signy gives a nod.

[Kyrian]

Would you like me to carry you again?

[AmberVael]

Signy nods again.

[Kyrian]

Rafael picks her up and smiles.

[AmberVael]

Signy curls up in his arms again.

[Kyrian]

Rafael carries her off to the portal.

Verdandi leads Aerin and Iames up to the church, starting as she realizes it has been kept up and redone in the guild's absence.

Iames and Aerin look up at it.

Hm. It looks a lot like it did when I was here last...

[AmberVael]

Except, of course, there are vines and plant growth everywhere. They have been cut and trimmed neatly, however. Which Vael forgot to mention, so he of course forgives Iames.
Also, it looks more like a church than a guild now.

Verdandi goes inside. No longer do desks and offices and battle hold sway- it looks like a real church now. There is an altar, a pulpit, beautiful stained glass, pews...

Iames and Aerin follow her inside and look around, admiring the appointments.

[AmberVael]

On the altar is a two foot tall glass replica of a tree, with many different colored glowing glass spheres hanging from it.
Verdandi looks at it, fascinated.
The tree is stylized, allowing the marbles to look appropriate with it.

Iames is looking at the stained glass windows.

Aerin, who had been looking at the tree already, starts to approach the altar.

[AmberVael]

The windows are of generic design, not really depicting anything...
...except one.
It shows a small, white robed figure standing in a rather bland, front facing pose. Their hood is down.
That is all.

Aerin is at the altar now and looking more closely at the tree.

Iames turns his attention from the stained glass to see what Aerin and Vera are looking at.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi doesn't seem to want to touch it.
The most predominant colors in the marbles are yellow and blue.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Do you know what it is? Iames asks her.

Aerin isn't touching it, just examining it closely.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shakes her head.
No idea, but it looks beautiful.
And fragile.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Aerin steps away from it and goes back to them. Okay, now all we need are some monsters guarding it, and it'll be ours. She grins.

Iames chuckles slightly.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi grins at Aerin, then notices something about the tree and looks back at it.
Wait...

[Lord Iames Osari]

Hm? What is it?

[AmberVael]

It echoes of Seid.
Verdandi hesitantly reaches out her senses to it.
It's barely recognizable as such- it is predominantly one energy- but the style and working of it...

[Lord Iames Osari]

Aerin and Iames wait for her to finish.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shakes her head.
I only know of three people normally in the Town who use Seid. Only one of them might do something like this.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Aerin and Iames exchange looks. We were only aware of you and Aesa... unless you mean Svala?

[AmberVael]

Verdandi shakes her head.
Aesa took an apprentice a while ago. I don't know much about how her training went.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Oh. So you think the apprentice is responsible.

[AmberVael]

She is the only answer I have to this. I do know that Aesa trained her here as well.

Iames nods.

Interesting... Aerin looks at the tree again.

[AmberVael]

Vael smirks as he realize his character came to a great conclusion-
-albiet one that was wrong.

Verdandi looks around the rest of the church curiously.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Aerin looks around as well, while Iames examines the pews.

[AmberVael]

The pews are nice, made of wood, and have dark blue cushioning.

Aerin, if she is a really noticing type of person, may see that the altar can be pushed aside... or something. It shouldn't be able to normally, but it was made to.

((Do the pews have books?))

Aerin wrinkles her forehead and goes over to the altar. She very carefully picks up the tree and moves it to the front pew, then tries to push the altar aside from all different directions.

[AmberVael]

((Nope. Places where they would go, but no books))

The altar scoots aside after a bit, revealing a secret passageway.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Hey, come look at this, Aerin says.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi moves over and looks into the passage.

[Rebonack]

((*cues the Legend of Zelda 'you found a secret' fanfare.*))

Iames goes over as well. I wonder what's down there... Rocky, why don't you go take a look?

Oh, sure, never once mention me for months on end, his psicrystal says, detaching from the clasp of his cloak, and then make me go first into what I'm sure will be an unpredictably dangerous, dark secret passage... continuing to grumble, Rocky flies down the passage.

Rocky find a dark secret passage.
Doesn't seem dangerous though.
'cept for the maze. The maze at the end of the short tunnel looks pretty dangerous, cause you definitely could get lost for days in it.

Hmm. There seems to be a maze.

Verdandi hums as she hears this.
That's odd.

Why is it odd? I mean, is it just the general oddness of "why does the secret passage lead to a maze, when such a construction would only be expensive and a hindrance to the users," or is it a different kind of oddness?

[AmberVael]

Why is there a maze at all?
Why is it secret?

Aerin nods. Well, I can think of one explanation, really. If it's the tomb of some important person who was buried with their treasure for use in the afterlife, then the tomb would have lots of safeguards to prevent it from being defiled and looted. Secrecy would obviously be the greatest protection; and for when that failed, a maze filled with traps and guardians to deter and dispatch intruders.

Verdandi gives a slow nod.

[Lord Iames Osari]

So, assuming it's a tomb, I don't think we can disturb it unless there are malevolent forces emanating from it. She casts detect evil.

[AmberVael]

She detects no evil.

[Lord Iames Osari]

I don't detect anything, but the spell I used is pretty short-ranged. Iames, can you sense anything?

Iames tries to sense any evil from the maze or any point underneath the church, using the mysterious deity-senses that let gods answer their clerics' random questions that they somehow assume their god will know the answer to.

[AmberVael]

Of all things, Iames finds divine resistance to his senses.
It isn't able to actually block him at all- hell, Vera could put up more resistance.
But it is there.
However, he finds no evil in the church or maze.

[Lord Iames Osari]

I don't sense any evil. I think you might be right about it being a tomb, though.

Aerin nods. All right. Get Rocky back and I'll close it off again.

Rocky returns, and Aerin pushes the altar back over the secret passage.

[AmberVael]

Verdandi leans against Iames.

[Lord Iames Osari]

Iames shifts them back to the bedroom.

[Kyrian]

Rafael carries Signy into the church, and raises an eyebrow to see her tree moved.

[AmberVael]

Signy frowns a bit and tries to get out of his arms.

[Kyrian]

Rafael sets her down, and heads over to the alter, looking at it.

[AmberVael]

Signy picks up her tree and goes to set it back on the altar.

Rafael might notice that the window he fixed looks different...

[Kyrian]

Rafael might notice it after he finishes looking around the alter. :P

[AmberVael]

The altar is exactly how it was when he last was here.
Signy sets her tree back on it.

[Kyrian]

Rafael notices the window and raises an eyebrow at it.

It now has a vague and general picture of a small figure in a white robe, with the hood drawn down over their face.

[Kyrian]

Rafael tilts his head, then shrugs.

[AmberVael]

Signy hums and sits on a pew.

[Kyrian]

Rafael watches her, his wings ruffling a little.

[AmberVael]

Signy hums and swings her legs back and forth, then holds her hands out, facing the palms towards each other.

[Kyrian]

Rafael watches with a smile.

[AmberVael]

White light begins passing between her hands.

[Kyrian]

Rafael goes over to sit beside Signy, and folds one wing around her.

[AmberVael]

Signy is now holding a small, glowing orb.

[Kyrian]

What are you up to, princess?

[AmberVael]

Signy looks at him and holds up the orb.
It is a spun glass sphere with that glows softly. The colors yellow and blue are both within it, but not mixing.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles as he looks at it. What is it?

[AmberVael]

Signy shrugs, but smiles at it.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles at her and hugs her.

[AmberVael]

Signy ruffles her wings and relaxes, smiling up at her father.

[Kyrian]

I love spending time with you, Signy.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles and hops across one of the pews.

[Kyrian]

Rafael watches her with a smile.

[AmberVael]

Signy goes over to the altar and puts the sphere on it, then finds that she has trouble keeping it from rolling away.

[Kyrian]

Rafael forms a stand for the orb and goes over to Signy, carefully setting the stand down on the altar.

[AmberVael]

Signy smiles and puts the orb on the stand.

[Kyrian]

Rafael ruffles her hair.

[AmberVael]

Signy hugs him and smiles.

[Kyrian]

Rafael smiles and returns the hug.

[AmberVael]

Signy starts bouncing around again.

[Kyrian]

Rafael laughs and watches.

[AmberVael]

Signy starts hopping from pew to pew, fluttering her wings fruitlessly.

What are you trying to do, princess?

[AmberVael]

Signy looks over at him and catches her foot on the next pew as she jumps, eeping as she falls flat on her face.

Signy, still face down on the stone floor, starts giggling.

Rafael gently touches her cheek.
