I'm working on a calendar for a home brew setting, and using the Fantasy Calendar Generator over at donjon (http://donjon.bin.sh/fantasy/calendar/). It creates basically what I need, and also adds celestial "events" for random dates. One of these events is called "Fireball" and I am at bit of a loss to think up what it might refer to. There are already random dates for "Meteor shower," "Shooting star," and "Comet," all of which could also be described as "Fireball." For the moment, I have defined "Fireball" as a small moon orbiting a larger moon in an elliptical pattern that causes it to graze the upper atmosphere of the planet every so often. But that just doesn't feel right. If anyone can think of what else (besides an actual Fireball) could be seen - and predicted on a calendar - in the skies above please share it.

I also came up with a little "Conflict Generator" table to generate dates of important battles and such. I have included the basic table below. To use it as shown you will need to add your own Locations and/or Names. Feel free to fold, staple and mutilate as needed.

Hmmm... Ok. Here are some other things it could be that were found after some Google-fu, adapting from real-world examples:

Naga Fireball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naga_fireball) - a not-very-well-understood meteorological phenomenon, although probably not predictable enough to appear in a calendar without some work.

Sky Lantern (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_lantern) - some form of these could be launched by a distant land, whose customs and beliefs are not well-known by those who call these "Fireballs." This could be why they can be predicted, and appear on a pre-printed calendar. They are part of some unknown, but regular, observance.

Fireballs and Folklore (http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2012/11/fireballs-and-folklore/) - lots of ideas here, also mentions Naga Fireballs along with many other "lights in the sky."
