The midday sun set the rolling waves aglitter with brilliant yellow and gold, as the rickety ferry that brought you to the city set into the docks. The citizens of Canna Lilly, the vast port city that connects Ferangia to the rest of the world – or as connected as it gets, anyway – have turned out in droves to celebrate the blessing of their patron pokédeity, on today, the festival of the ocean breeze.

the beach and dock areas of the great port are covered as far as the eye can see with stalls of all kinds; market stalls selling wares of all kinds – both the mundane and the exotic, the practical and nick-nacks of all kinds – food stands sizzling away in the open air, and a number of stalls for games and challenges. Kites and banners flutter through the sky, crafted into the likeness of bird pokemon – and confusing a few of the natural versions that have gotten themselves tangled up in the strings – and the sound of hustle and bustle is everywhere, the excitement in

Across the water, you can see the lighthouse atop the cities shrine has been lit, not the normal flame to guide in boats, but a scintillating blaze of many colours casting reflections into the ocean. On the beech itself, atop a stage made of palm logs and decorated with blue and red banners, an aged priestess is delivering her semons, the (technical) reason for the festival, and from the sizeable crowd there, one many of the cities residents have turned up for.

To the side of the commission, a large pack of aipom can be seen playing in the trees, clinging and crawling across the buildings and scurrying through the streets, as if drawn by the mass of people. More than one festival-goer has had to chase down a mischevious monkey who's tail has reached for something shiny

Beyond the flurry of activity, the Hunter's Hall rises high above the rest of the city, ever visible. Today, the building is flying flags depicting stylized images of Kyogre and a hunter is red armour in combat.

All in all, the excietement in the air, the mass of smiling, happy faces and the lack of pervading death make the nation's reputation seem rather over-played

“Here we are folks, Canna Lilly City” Says the ferryman with a broad smile across his weathered face, pulling his fancy white captains hat down lower to keep the sun out of his eyes “Jewel of the southern sea, my home town and currently in the middle of giving thanks to that big blue nuisance out there. Now, I get you folks are here for the Glyph Challenge, and for that you'll need to go register at the Hall” he points at the large building atop the hill “but this day only comes round once a year, so try and have some fun too, y'hear”

Food Stalls; Because the festival is sponsored by the cities govornment, refreshments at the food-stalls today are free to first time customers; repeat customers need to pay as normal, and of course things like waiting in line are also required. Notable food stalls include Kaupala's Delight's, selling local fruit and produce smothered in sugar and chocolate, Tavii's Roast – where a large spitted Tauros spins above an open fire, Kachiina's Magmar Specials, boasting the hottest food in the world and offering a prize to anyone who can finish a plate, and Daewon's Jungle Japes, a wide bar that's always a fixture of the beach. Oddly enough, a lot of people leaving Magmar Specials head for the Japes.

Game Stands: because whats a festival or faire without expensive, tacky stands offering cheap toys and trinkets for (probably) rigged games? The stalls here all charge 50$ per play, and offer rewards ranging from pokedolls, to cash, to the rare few offering trinkets or other goods

Agni's Test of Strength: Agni and his loyal Machoke companion challenge anyone who wants to test their muscle to have a shot. Human challengers must try to face Agni himself – all 7 feet of him – in an arm wrestle, whilst anyone who feels their pokemon have got what it takes can take on Agni's Machoke in a wrestling match.

Archer's Hunting Range; this stand is manned by a seemingly sleeping man in a wide brimmed red hat. The challenge is to use the provided crossbow to hit a number of moving targets

River Iwambi; a flowing pond filled with young water pokemon. People pay to have a go at fishing one out, and are allowed to keep any they catch within the time limit.

Damayanti's Mysteries; decked out in the facade of an ancient ruins, this is bassically a shell game running on a double or nothing system; the prizes at the back look expensive, but good luck winning anything

Battle for the Best; Organized by the Hunters' Guild as their contribution to the years events and held in the Hunter's Hall, trainers can pay a fee of $500 to enter the ring against other entrants in a battle royale style; the first to win three battles wins the entire pot. The challenge is restricted to trainers without any glyphs to their name, to keep it fair

Other Stalls; besides the food and games, there's a number of stalls selling healing herbs and concoctions, a fair number selling vibrant local fashions and scarves, and near the back in a wide stall run by a man almost wider, presumably the cities blacksmith from the range of weapons and armour on display, as well as a few mechanical trinkets such as a couple of pocket watches.

Rangi looks around at the various stalls, his seemingly permanent scowl locked firmly on his face, glaring at anybody that ventured a little to close to the tribal warrior. The warrior wore nothing besides a traditional skirt, the rest of his gear contained within the pack on his back.

Of course, the Servine draped over the warrior's neck does help somewhat to create a semblance of modesty, and the Inkay cradled in the crook of his elbow seems to do a little to decrease his aura of menace, especially as it slaps its suction cups on the warrior repeatedly, leaving small circles up and down his arm.

Rangi gives the ferryman a grunt as he leaves the ship, wasting no time in making his way towards the Battle for the Best. If he wanted the Hunter's Guild to recognize his strength the best course of action would be to demonstrate it for all to see, no?

Of course, the sign posting the entry fee manages to scare Rangi away almost instantly; he was short a fair bit. Instead, the warrior lumbers over toward the shop with the meekest looking shopkeep, a scowl on his face as he slams a Full Heal down on the counter.

"450," he growls, leering at the shopkeeper, intending to make back what he had paid on the Full Heal.

Scare the shopkeep into paying market price for a Full Heal!

Ugo's great adventure to find strength and recognition.

It was a long journey to Canna Lilly. Many days of walking and fending off wild Pokemon took it's toll. King & Kong were exhausted and so was Ugo. The majority of the ferry ride, they spent sleeping to show for it. As a result Ugo didn't socialize much so once ashore, he was in the big City all by himself. The ferryman's speech woke the young boy up, but he had missed most of it. "Register at Hall? Enjoy festival?" He had no idea what the man was talking about.

When he got off board and saw the masses celebrate, the mystery unfolded. "Ahhh ... Festival ..."

Ugo came here with a clear purpose. He wants to test his strength by measuring it against other trainers. And prove that the Jungle Clan ain't thick folk who don't amount to nothing. One problem though, he had never had a real battle with any other trainer before. The only experience Ugo had, was dealing with wild Pokemon and having training sessions with his own Pokemon. In order to become good at these battling events, he first had to learn the rules. To see how it was done. So he asked around where he could find people battling each other and got pointed to the direction of the Battle for the Best.

As he arrived at the Hunter's Hall, he saw a tattooed man being passionate about wanting to get in. His body language clearly showed he didn't agree on something. When Ugo saw the sign of the entree fee, he figured it was about a lack of funds. Ugo had always been a man who followed his gut. And he had a good feeling about this bloke, who else would go so far if he wasn't sure he was going to win ... Plus he saw how the shopkeeper was cowering in fear, and felt sorry for the man.

"Are you interested in making a deal?" He says while approaching the ferocious looking man. "I'll pay your entree fee and we both split the profits." Ugo puts down adequate money on the table, sliding it to the shopkeeper. He holds his hand on top of it, waiting for the man's answer.

the shopkeeper before Rangi quails in fear, opening the box where he keps the days earnings and quickly placing the money on the counter; it's a mix of different coins and denominations, a rather chaotic jumble of silver and copper.

Intimidate sucess! the shopkeeper, in his haste to appease the scary man, put down $500 for the full heal. Profit

When Ugo appears, the look on his face is as if the saviour has come down from the heavens

Kalea erupted off of the boat as fast as her legs would carry her, letting out a great whooping cry of "Ya-HOOO!". Bounding down the wooden dock, the young girl sprinted along. All the pent up energy she'd built up from the boat ride was being vented off, the stir crazy-ness let loose. And this was certainly the place to let loose. The Sights! The Smells! The People! The...More People. Lot of people. Crowds. Exciting? Yes. Blocking the pathway? Also Yes. Which was a pain, because Kalea wanted to MOVE. She jumped up, just as a gust of wind grabbed her, and carried her over the heads of most of the crowd. Not quite high enough to be called flight, but high enough that she could avoid getting snared by human traffic jams.

Getting higher up also was a boon, in that it gave her a chance to see further. Her eyes darted about the inside of her head with excitement, unable to decide what to focus on, trying instead to take it all in. "Where to go first?" She mused to herself. Really, Kalea wanted to go everywhere. And she probably would, or at least make a very solid effort to do so. But where to start? Well, that was easy. Whatever was closest. And what was closest was the River, and the fishing game. That looked like fun!

Stepping on air, Kalea darted over a few roadstands and narrowly avoided a run-in with a large ornimental display, before backflipping back onto the ground in front of the River Iwambi, where she bounced a few times on the balls of her feet for a moment before settling down enough to fiddle gaze down into the pond water, curious as to what sort of things were lurking in there.

After catching a glance, Kalea reached in her pocket and grab the money she had available. Approaching the attendent running the fishing-game "How much to play?", she asked, with a big, bubbly grin on her face. Today was going to be awesome!

Felicity's eyes widened when she saw the festival. Oooh! she exclaimed. She took a bit to wander through the crowded roads, almost stopping at one place before her eyes caught sight of something shiny and new that carried her to another part of the festival. When she arrived at the river and the fishing challenge, her heart sank. Uggh, I hate fishing! I'm so bad at it. But its the only place where I can capture anything ... ugh maybe I'll come back later and try it ...

She stopped mid-thought when she saw the aipoms scurrying about, and she realized that they were likely wilds. Suddenly her demeanor changed. No longer were the shops and games distracting her. Her entire focus zoomed in on one single monkey, and she quickly slipped through the crowd to the merchant who was panicking after it had just stolen one of the prizes.

As she released Dot, she made a passing comment to the person running the game station How about I get that lovely prize back for you in exchange for three free rounds of that game you're running?. At the same time she gave Dot the hand signal to begin the hunt. The mushroom on Dot's back began to rustle, releasing a series of smells that would be extremely enticing to any monkey, whether they were hungry or not. The wind should carry the spores over to the little critter hiding on the roof; the only question would be whether it would take the bait, which was really just a waiting game. If it didn't work then she'd just have to try the old fashioned way.

Dot is using its alluring capability to function as bait. DC15 to attract a wild pokemon, though I have no guarantee that it would be this particular aipom.

Rangi pulls the 500 towards him, quietly counting out 50 and sliding it back towards the shopkeeper. He just wanted the money he had paid for the Full Heal back, not to rob the shopkeeper of his own money. The warrior's face breaks into a terrifying grin, looking at the shopkeeper approvingly.

"Thank you," he states before looking to the person that just arrived, a new frown on his face. "Rangi have money now. Thank you, but Rangi fight alone," the warrior states as he begins to make his way towards the Battle for the Best, slowly removing his gear from his pack and attaching his tribal armor as well as his shield. "See you in the ring," he finally states, making his way towards the entrance and offering the attendant the 500 entry fee.

Ugo looks at the shopkeeper. His facial expression said "At least I tried ..." He tucks his money in his pocket and finds himself a seat to watch the battles. It had to be a good seat in the front, where he would see all of the match. He needed the information to start defeating trainers of his own.

The stall-keeper at the fishing stand - a young woman with sunkissed skin, her long black hair bound in braids - smiled back at Kalea, the other girls cheerfullness infectious. "It's $200 to have a shot. anything you catch you keep. you get 3 tries or 5 minutes" she finished, gesturing to the pond and the array of small nets laid out.

In the water, you can see a variety of water pokemon, all small enough to denote their status as newbords; the most prominent are the red-gold scales of magicarp, though amongst the throng you can make out the odd finneon and goldeen.

due to the abundance of fish in this gated off part of the water, you catch a fish on a 10+ the fish are low level enough that netting one will be the same as catching one

The shopkeeper watched in rapt attention as Dot's aroma filled the area, a number of the Aipom in the area turning to sniff, then a wave of frenzied excitement swept through them, drawing more and more of the little monkey pokemon closer. the glint of sunshine on metal made it clear the theif - or at least one thief - had taken the bait

"You've got a deal" the stall-managed said, sitting back into the shade offered by the wooden rooof as he watched the scene unfold

A bunch of the small monkey pokemon started to draw closer to Felicity and Dot, eying one another suspiciously as if they suspected their freinds would be the one to try and steal the source of the sweet scent. Suddenly, one aipom breaks away from the mass, a cheeky grin across its beighe face and the glint of gold held in its tail as it draws closer, a few more following behind.

The aipom seem quite happy about whats going on, showing no signs of agression, though the same can't be said for the stall holder "There's the little Thief. Get it! he screamed, gesturing wildly at the lead aipom.

Monkeys! (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yVviKwrOFwGskoLLy5IHHo7aPscBPeQA8Ua4fFA42to/edit#gid=0)

the aipom won't act other than looking for the sweet smell unless provoked, and even then you'll need to provoke each individually. also, please roll a perception

A small number of the Aipom ignored the scent entierly, continuing their actions in a focused manner, just a little too practiced to be spontanious to your expreinced eye. these few weren't wild, that's for sure, but why someone had mixed their own pokemon into the throng was anyones guess

------------------------

As both Ugo and Rangi headed for the Hunter's Hall, and the battle event, they joined a slow stream of people channeling into the building, Rangi heading for the challengers barracks, being passed a small slip of paper with the number 9 written on it, and Ugo heading for the prepared seating to watch the participants.

In the ring, a battle rages between a small brown bear pokemon and a fairy floating around, holding a leaf. To the side, two young hunters are trying to beat one another down with wooden swords, shouting orders to the two pokemon as they go. the battle seems to be drawing to a close, as the small bear pokemon sidesteps a cascade of leaves that leave the arena ropes in tatters, then lands a vicios claw swipe on the flower fairy, sending it to the ground. Nearby, one of the hunters - a young woman - has managed to strike a telling blow on her opponent, the sword meeting skull with a heavy thud!

With one contestant down, the announcer - a man dressed in a flashy red and green patterned jacket and holding a small stick marked with arcanist glyphs - begins to count down and soon hit 0. As the unconcios challenger is dragged out of the ring, the announcer starts up again "and its over folks. this was challenger Mykaa's third battle, but it seems he was unable to cut it, so challenger Inkaa takes him out of the runnings. Can little miss Inkaa be the champion we've been waiting for, or is she just another looser in the making? Only time will tell! Next up we have... challenger number 9. Please step forward and state your name" the announced speaks into the stick at near one hundred words a second, his voice echoing out louder than would be natural.

"Rangi of the Garadin tribes!" the warrior cries, stepping forward as he returns Regina to her Pokeball, slinging his shield over his arm and grasping his heavy club firmly, a fire burning in his eyes as he prepares to enter the ring. This way his stage.

"Be prepared Krako," the warrior mutters as quietly as a massive tribal warrior can. "We shall show our strength today."

Ugo looks carefully at the matches. He is going through his Pokemon Encyclopedia as fast as he can to identify the to him unknown Pokemon as they appear on the field. He enjoys himself, but apparently there weren't many rules involved in these fights ... All that worrying for nothing heh.

Then the angry fella from before enters the ring. He looks quite confident, like before. Ugo got worried by the thought of fighting guys like him though. He had no kind of weapon's training or any promise of physical achievement for that matter. That's when he realized that his Pokemon would have to excel.

The match is about to start, and Ugo sits at the tip of his chair. :smallamused:

"Yes Please!" Kalea Smiled, handing over the money and taking her fishing rod. Moving over towards the pond, the excitable young girl found a spot near some of the smaller children who, in Kalea's experiance, would be more fun to hang out with. "Better watch out, I'm going to catch like...4 or 5 Lapras's, and a dozen Gyrados and maybe even a Wailord or two" she boasted towards the other competitors, grinning from ear to ear as she did, while quickly baiting her hook and getting read. "Annnnnnnnd..FISHING!"

Casting in her Line, Kalea stood stone still, watching for her bobber to drop. Or rather, she stood still for maybe ten seconds, before she started figeting. Her eyes would wander for a moment, distracted by another glimpse at the goings-on at the festival, only to be yanked back the next moment when her brain reminded her that she needed to focus. And then the cycle would repeat.

Something in the back of Felicity's mind noted that some of these pokemon weren't wild, but she didn't think about that. They weren't her target; only the one in front of her. The stall keeper's screams fell on deaf ears as well; he wasn't her target either. It was as if the only thing that existed in this world were her, Dot, and that Aipom.

Slowly, Felicity slipped a pokeball equipped with one of her special cases from one of the many bags that adorned her waist. She similarly drew a net attached to a thin - but sturdy - wooden pole. You know the drill Dot she said softly. And Dot did. Without any other instructions it let out a stream of paralyzing spores that wafted toward the the monkey. They both had done this enough to have a pattern set.

A murmer passes through the crowd at the mention of the garadin tribe, the warriors having a reputation amongt the more learned of the mainlanders. Up in the stalls, Ugo can feel the anticipation build, many who where formarly watching with a border look now on the edge of their seats

"Well, well, a bonafide tribal. this should be quite a show." the announcer calls out with a laugh, the movement setting the light to shimmer from the many sequins set into that coat; gosh was it gaudy, a garb of a soft city-dweller who would never survive out in the wild. "Get in there big guy, I'm sure you know how to fight, but just in case you don't; the only rule in this arena is anything goes! Each contestant can use up to three pokemon, and as you've seen, even step into the ring themselves if they trust their muscle. The first trainer to loose all their pokemon, or to be knocked out themselves, looses. Oh, and you see the remains of the ropes? step past them and your out as well

so, challengers, ready? three, two, one, Action!"

Flipping through the pages of the encyclopedia he'd been handed when he set off, Ugo found something wonderous as he focused on the pokemon before him. The aipom nimbly sidestepped the spay of golden dust, its nostrils flaring. That wasn't the nice smelling thing, that smelt like electrocution and zapping and staying still! did the mushroom pokemon not understand how hard that was for a monkey?

With startling speed, The Aipom retaliated in turn, slipping its shiny into its mouth - from the distance you can make out it's a large, ornamental looking coin emboseed with a picture of a meowth -and scooping its tail down to the sandy ground, grabbing a handful and launching it at Dot, before begining to scamper away from the two of you.

Rangi grins as the battle begins, hardly hesitating as he slams his weapon into his shield, a brutal grin on his face. This would be fun.

With a roar Rangi picks up the tempo, slamming his club against his shield in a rhythm as he begins to stamp his feet, blood boiling as he prepares to take on his foe.

"Awww...whosa cute widdle fishy" Kalea smiled. Of course, despite its beauty, such a fragile fish would be a risky ally to bring into battle on her quest for the glyphs. And It'd be wrong to make such a young pokemon fight. Kalea turned her head to and fro, even hovering up a bit to get a better vantage point. She was looking for any smaller kids who unlucky enough to have not caught anything. She'd already gotten to enjoy playing the game, and if she could brighten up an anklebiters day by giving them a new best friend, that'd be just swell.

Pulling his hood over his head in attempt to provide some shade for his eyes, Güsstav said his thanks to the ferryman before heading into the city. Fascinated and enjoying a new experience he rarely done so before, Güsstav wanders throughout the festival. He even called out both Frigg and Erebus, wanting to share the experience with them.

Walking around the festival, Güsstav have decided to take the less traveled path. That way he can enjoy his time with his Pokémon while being able to spot or enjoy other less crowded festivities/stalls. Passing several stalls that seems to sell herbs, jewelry, trinkets, and souvenirs, Erebus seems eager as the Sableye gestures towards a wide stall run by a man. Whom seems to be a blacksmith, though what caught Erebus's crystal eyes seems to be the trinkets, not the weapon and armors.

Decisions, decisions... Easily mistaken for luggage, the lank fellow from the back of the ferry finally absconds from the boat at the behest of his eager companion. Wearing a kung fu jacket upon his frame, a straw hat upon his brow and troubles on his mind, the purple haired fellow tries to forget the last one, allowing the bright eyed, chirping lopunny (who wears an open vest suspiciously cut to look like Loft's jacket) to drag him away.

The pair saunter, mirroring each other, down through the festival, Loft trying to keep track of both where the food stands are (for later) and for Velveteen, whom occasionally needs a nudge to stay on course. She's so excited to be here, still chirping and letting out noises of happiness that she breaks character (by not always mimicking Loft) a few times. Tsugumo hates crowds, and Loft wisely keeps him away from it, as he and she drift to and fro through the crowd... until one feature catches both their attention.

Loft leans forward, an arm's reach away from Damayanti's Mysteries. His sleepy eyes widen just a little, intrigued.

"Pay t' play?" he ventures, looking over the 'shells' when his eyes droop, presenting himself as half asleep, though really, it's to hide the swirls of violet that drift like mist over his pupils. Velveteen notices but instead of acting like Loft she continues to chirp and bounce about in place.

Rangi's opponent, having psyked herself up before the fight, was rather taken aback as the huge tribal warrior before her began to bust a groove (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrI-UBIB8Jk), but she shook it off and advanced, the wooden sword ready

"Focus on the trainer, Teo! take him down and we win" she shouted to her pokemon, before sprinting forward to take a swing at Ragni

the small bear, following its trainers rders, slipped around the side of the dancer - avoiding Krako - and struck at Rangi, an almost impossibly long tongue erupting from its adorable muzzle to run up Rangi's side, catching on his shield and armour. The warriors' equipment managed to weather the damage from the attack, though the tingling feeling from the saliva couldn't mean anything good

Looking around, Kalea saw a young girl staring wistfuly at the pond, the faint remains of tears on her poor little face. all the other kids around her semeed to be having fun with their new fish

--------

Frigg seemed contently ignorant of near everything that happened her, her eyes only finding the bright colours and smells of the occassion, though following this she began to tug on gússtav's hand, trying - rather commically and alltogether uselessly - to drag the taller trainer to a nearby food stall.

Gústav and Erebus's search instead turns up a couple of rather unusual events; the first is a heavily shrouded stall set, almost to avoid detecteon, between a couple of buildings, the heavy purple fabric betraying just enough of a figure inside to make out the tent is occupied, but not enough to make out anything more

the second thing is that quite a few of the aipom in the area have slowly been slipping under the back of the same tent, both those holding stolen goods and those empy handed. watching for a few minutes, you notice that the monkies aren't leaving. The stallholder, presumably Dyamanti, catches one look at Velvateen and a broad smile spreads across her face. Idly, she reaches out and pets the lopunny, even as she replies to Loft "It's 50$ for a shot. you try and follow the ball and when it stops, you tell me where in the stall it ended up. You get it right, you win a prize from the 1 section" she gestured behind herself at the shelves; some of the items had a 1 on them, some threes, or fives. a pokeball on display in the centre of the stand had a 10 "or you can try your luck and keep playing, until you either get what you want, or you guess wrong. Simple, no?"

With that, her grin turned sharkish, and she got a rather predatory glint in her eye, resting her hands on the three coconut shells resting on her stall, each carved to resemble a squirtle-shell.

As for if she's being legit, well, that depends on how you look at it; The woman is running a shell game, a game which, by its very nature, is designed to fleece money out of people, so she could be said to be far from legit, but one could also wonder if she's going to go a stage further, if the scam - rather than trying to make them loose track of the ball - is to make people play at all? So is she a legit gameswoman, or a grifter after loft's hard earned money?

Her aura is a yellowish hue, something loft has know to go with duplicity or cunning in the past, but it shines wth a vibrance that usually indicated good intententions. This, coupled with his gut, tells Loft that she intends to play the game as fairly as it goes, and intends to give up her prizes for the winners that come along.

if they win.

the section marked with a 1 are all trinkets and odds and ends; carved sea shells, bead necklaces and bracelets, the like. pretty to look at, but not worth very much. Also on this shelf are packets of sweets and fruit
the three shelf has a number of small gems of varying colours, as well as various bunches of berries. the gems all corespond with the color accociated with certain pokemon types. a couple of medicinal items are also on offer
the five shelf holds a few items loft notices from trainer shops and magazines; a sharp looking fang, a rock in the shape of a crown, and a thick, heavy looking bone. Besides this, a bucket full of various odds and ends also has a 5, with the words lucky dip
the final shelf holds just one thing, a pokeball with the number 10 on it.

Rangi grunts as he is slammed into by the two trainers, a brutal grin on the warrior's face as the two opponents both come in fast and hard to hit him.

"Krako, show your might!" the warrior manages to snarl out through his paralysis, watching as the Inkay darts forward, glowing bright red before attempting to slam into the Trainer, letting out a battlecry as it does so.

Krako shifts into Rangi's square.

Krako uses Superpower! Brutal Training means this is a Critical on 19+. Target is Inkaa.

Kalea approached the sad looking girl, holding the small pokemon in her hands. Bending down, so that she was eye level with the young girl, Kalea smiled "Don't be sad, todays a festival! There's no time for sad faces on a day like today!" Kalea handed the finneon to the small girl "Here, a new friend to share today with. Take good care of eachother!" and with that, Kalea gave the girls hair a playful ruffling, before taking off with a gust of wind, heading off over the crowds again. Nothing beats the warm fuzzy feeling you get from making someones day a little brighter.

Kalea headed towards the gameing tents, where she alighted down with a quick summersault for flair, before bouncing back onto her feet and looking around at the stands. As much fun as trinkets were, she really didn't need anything so material. But some of the shops looked like they had more exotic prizes, so Kalea headed towards those ones first to see what kind of challenges they posed and what she could stand to gain. After all, there was still plenty of time to register for the glyph challenge.

Velveteen looks up at her master curiously. Loft gives pause for a moment, impressed by the vividness of the woman's aura. Looks like this will be skill v. skill after all; he's even a little satisfied that he can't read her mind.

Resting his straw hat atop the lopunny's ears (she grabs ahold of the hat in the same instant,) the lanky teenager puts down 200$ with a flick of the wrist.

"Th' pokeball better have somethin' innit." he says with good nature, a sleepy smirk playing over his face. "I'll give this a shot or four..."

Now... do I need to roll intuition a kabillion times, or just once per 50 bucks? Loft's not stopping either way until his 200 runs out, or he has that pokeball.

With the tattooed warrior being paralyzed for the intire fight, all the spectators go "Oooooh". They know it's gonna be hard for him to last 3 fights like that.

When the small Pokemon busts out a fighting move like that, the whole crowd lets out a satisfied "Aaaaaah".

Ugo can't help but wonder how the hell he got a dark/psychic type to do a thing like that ... It certainly made the fight a lot more interesting. Maybe he did have a shot after all ...

Krako's reckless charge catches the other trainer in the chest, as she screams out in pain, coughing heavily as she drops to the ground. A gasp flies through the crowd; it looks like this was going to be a 1 hit wonder. The little teddiursa looks just as worried, but then the other trainer soon slowly picks herself up off the ground, struggling to steady herself.

"Well, it looked like it was all over before it could even get started, but challenger Inkaa's managing to hang in there. Challenger Rangi has just exploded onto the scene with a supreme show of force, can our current champ make a comeback? the annoucer shouts into his microphone, excitement

the little Inkay, for its part, looks rather satisfied with the result, a slight smirk on its face beneath a sheen of sweat

Krako's charge has inflicted 35 damage (after defence 8) leaving the enemy trainer with 6 HP

It is now Rangi's turn (10 * 0.6 = 6) rangi has the same speed as the enemies, but unmodified would act first, so he keeps that honour

and yes, you get a full round between matches to do whatever you will

-------------

the little girl, for her own part, looked like christmas had come early when handed the pokeball, and tried to grab Kalea in a snotty, slighty-teary hug before the older girl flew off. She instead had to settle for watching in amazement at the flying trainer

The first stall Kalea sees that looks like its offering something good is a shooting gallery, a long wooden corridor behind a gate with a number of pokemon carvings moving back and forth on rails. the prizes offered here seem to be types of pokeballs. a sign is hung up saying empty! next to them

the second stall with some good rewards is easy to spot - its surrounded by a throng of aipom, and a couple of fat-looking spearow are resting on the top of it. The game seems to be something to do with baloons, if the amount hanging from the shack are any indication. The prizes themselves are... kinda all over the place; some seeming to be the junk found in the other stalls, a smattering of weapons - some looking almost unused - random medicine, and a few stones you notice to be evolutionary stones. It almost looks like they just grabbed whatever junk they could for prizes

lastly, one of the larger food stalls - Magmar Meals, you can make out on the sign - has a contest going on, to see who can finish a bowl of their 'special', and are offering a cash prize of $1000 for doing so.

she also spots a shell-game offering some good stuff, but she can see someone in a fancy hat playing at that one. maybe if she waits a few minutes?

-----

as soon as Lofts money hit the counter, the stallkeepers hands began to move, lifting the middle shell to reveal a small glass ball, before slamming it down again and sending the shells spinning. Loft has to strain his eyes to keep track of how many shells there are due to the speed, let alone where each shell has gotten off too

as he wins more games, and the potential prizes get better and better, tracking the ball becomes a steeper task; at the third game, the stallkeeper started to flip the ball into the air and catch it into another shell, or send the ball rolling to the back of the table, covering it with one shell and slamming it behind one of the other two.

then at the 5th game, she got another shell out

and when those stopped, she looked up at loft like a predator eyeing their prey

"so, kid. which shell's the ball under?"

for each roll, I'll tell you how many wins you can get in order without loosing track of the ball. from there, you can choose to guess which shell its under, or take a prize from the ammount you got right

if you take a chance and guess right, then you can make another intuition roll to get your eye back in the game for the next round(s). just remeber, if you guess wrong, you get nothing

so attempt 1 and 4 gets you 4 guaranteed wins. guessing from now on is 1-4
attempt 2 and 3 gets you 3. guessing is 1-3

or else we'd need potentially 40 intuition vs guille rolls, and the forum dice roller would hate us XD

the punch is a solid hit on the other trainer, catching her in the gut even as she attempted to block with the wooden sword. As a heavy thud echoes throughout the hall, she falls to the ground once more, this time not getting up.

Her Tediursa looks lost, endevouring to put itself between Rangi and its trainer before the scary tribal can do any more damage. It even tries its best to be intimidating, which is hard for a walking teddy-bear. As the contest staff lift the unconcious girl out of the area, the small bear pokemon follows, and once more the announcer bursts into frenzied commentating

"It seems Challenger Inkaa's streak was not to be, she was merely just a stepping stone for landslide Rangi! Is anyone brave or foolish enough to stand before him? Of course they are! what hunter wouldn't feel their blood boiling at the prospect of such a battle, and thats the same for our next chalenger! Come on down number 10" the announcer screams into his mic, excitement clear in his voice.

The next challenger steps down from the same waiting area Rangi had been in. An older man, his face marked with greying stubble, with a crossbow resting on one shoulder, a worn leather suit, and a red and black bird pokemon on the other. The pokemon is preening it's black feathered wings - edged with vibrant yellow plumage - with a sharp black beak.

Rangi has 1 full round to prepare for the next match however he chooses. Upon seeing the pokemon, he can call upon his own knowledge to identify it for a free action

the pokemon is a fletchinder. see pokedex for more fletchinder info :smalltongue:

The fletchinder's body is radiating heat, the air around it seeming slightly distorted by the haze; it has the flame body ability

otherwise you will need to use the encyclopedia and the ususal standard action to identify the pokemon

Kalea looked about the games, trying to make a decision "The shooting one looks neat" She said to herself, walking towards it. After a few steps, she paused "But then, Balloons: They're practically made of entertainment. Who can't have a good times with balloons?" Changing course, she headed towards the stall with all the aipom. "On the other hand, those meals smell pretty tastey" She commented, getting a good nose full of the magmar meals, and subconciously twisting towards the snack shack. She almost made it to, before her eyes spotted the phoney ruins and the shell game "Ooooh, the mystery thingie. Well, mystery is just another word for adventure!" With purpose, Kalea strode towards the fancy hatted person. "Wait, theres a line...I don't want to stand around....hurmf"

Whether by random chance or twist of fortune, Kalea's back and forth wanderings had brought her in a near perfect circle back to where she'd started. "Oh what to do, what to do?" All the games looked fun, and she didn't want to miss out on any of them, or loose a chance at one of the better prizes because someone else got their first. Flustered, Kalea headed over towards the shell game. If it was fun enough that somebody was already playing, then it'd probably be worthwhile to check out.

Standing in line, Kalea watched as the game grew more complex with each round. She felt as if she were playing along, biting her fingers with anxiety as the be-hatted fellow picked out the shell, and then whooping with excitment whenever the glass bead appeared. By the fifth round, she was on the edge of her seat (Though she was standing, technically speaking) "Keep going" She encournaged "You can do it!" Kalea gave a hearty pat on the back to show her support. "And if not, I got dibs on next! I would love a chance to win...at..er..get, what's in the 10 prize pokeball, anyway? No, wait, don't tell me. It's better as a surprise!

Rangi is already reaching into his pack as the other Trainer falls, snarling as he pushes through the paralysis. A second later a Full Heal is in the Trainer's hand. With a quick, brutal motion the tribesman breaks the top of the Full Heal off, downing the liquid without flinching, almost grinning as the paralysis leaves his body. As he sees the opponent approach with the crossbow, Rangi already knows the course of action he needs to take.

"Krako, go to the middle," the warrior commands, himself striding towards the upper edge of the arena. "And shield us," he adds, almost as an afterthought as the two warriors take central positions. Rangi had no intention of allowing the old man to plink away at them from a distance with that crossbow.

Beside him the Inkay floats across the field before pushing its tentacles out against a seemingly invisible wall, a faint barricade appearing there a moment later.

Rangi uses a Full Heal!

Noticing something is going on, Güsstav swiftly links himself to both Frigg and Erebus, channeling them. Telling the two to stay quiet, Güsstav takes out his Pokemon Encyclopedia. The medium flips through the pages swiftly and quietly, searching to identify the Aipom. A bit disappointed at her previous endeavor, Frigg decides to takes the initiative. While Güsstav is flipping through the encyclopedia, Frigg locks onto one of the Aipom with her mind. Reaching into the aipom's minds, Frigg leanr why the monkeys have been making such a nuisence of themselves; For the wild ones, it's just them copying others of their kind, or a simple attraction to shinies, though the aipom with these thoughts seem to be the ones happy to hang around outside. A rare few others, however, are working under orders - both to 'grab all you can', as well as to 'scout around'

seems not everyones at the festival to have fun

the stallholder lifts the shell to reveal the ball. 5 games under his belt - too bad loft had decided to shoot for the grand prize, and so the game started again.

Loft's eyes followed the shells as best they could, before coming to a stop. He managed to slip back into the flow of things, adapting to his opponents movements until it came to game number 10... and the 5th shell came out.

The final moment, they came to a stop, and now loft needs to make his choice. At his side, however, Velveteen seemed to be pulling towards either shell number 1 or 2, though wether the buny knew what she was doing, or just wanted to impress Loft was up in the air

arcens right - you need to blow an AP before the dice is rolled, not after. as for why your DM before let it be spent afterwards, well, most games with an AP system (or simmilar) do let you modify your dice roll afterword, so they prolly got confused.

Now, however, you'd have needed to roll a 20+ to get the final win without making a guess. so, guessing time; shell one, two, three, four or five

As the blast of heat rockets forward Rangi lifts his shield, the flames somehow diverted enough by wicker object to allow the dancer to twist and turn, avoiding the burst of flames entirely. Krako, on the other hand, isn't so lucky; the squid is hit full-on, causing it to scream in pain as its flesh gets badly burned, something that warrants a glare at the bird from Rangi. He has no reason, at all, not to trust Velveteen, even though the thought crosses his mind that she may in fact just be mimicking those times he correctly picked shell one and two. A whole jumble of thoughts, in fact, cross his mind, but he doesn't let them stick. He lets the flow along, apart from a small insignificant little, nonsensical bit of reasoning. There are two of them. Loft and Velveteen. Sure TSugumo's come along with them, but this journey was started with a boy and his buneary. Two souls. Two are on this adventure.

Rangi/Ugo
------------

All the audience could see from outside the arena was a white cloud, but that did nothing to stop Rangi and Krako from blind-siding the archer as he prepped his crossbow, and their vicious double team left him down and out on the ground, his hat drifting down a few seconds later to cover his face. Even if the people outside the ring couldn't see the action, they could certainly hear it, and it's hard to misinterperet an agonized scream and a heavy thud.

After a few moments of the tournement staff fumbling around in the smoke, the archer was also carried out of the arena, his fletchinder looking rather confused at what happened, but soon circling the stretcher carrying him away

“Unbelievable! We're looking at a legend in the making here, folks. Challenger Rangi is just one win away from taking the pot, and I don't think he's even broken a sweat yet; looks like they do grow them strong in the Garadin tribe. So, would our next unlucky victim please step up, challenger number 11!”

With this, a young girl stepped out of the waiting area. She looked to be in her early teens, garbed in a dress that would have resembled a military uniform – if not for the abundance of frills across the sleeves and hem. Besides this, she has a polished metal shield strapped to her right hand, and a an equally shiny breastplate, embossed with a symbol you. A scabarded short sword, with a royal blue tassel, is strapped to her waist. A braided blonde ponytails hangs down her back, held back by a vibrant blue ribbon.

“Hello, I'm Mirali, a military cadet from Impala. Watching you fight has been very entertaining, Ragni of the Garadin tribe – and also very informative. Sorry about this, but I'll be taking the prize and the glory. Let's make this an honourable match!” she announced, her voice having a lilting, sing-song sort of quality.

With that, she readies a pokeball from her belt, releasing a small green dragon capering around her feet, a large brown crest raising from its head. A deep red headband is tied around its head

“En-garde!”

feel free to take your preperation round

the little dragon is an axew. They are native – and fairly common – in the hillier parts of the south Ferangia. See pokedex page 248 for details
The sword on her back is a Honedge, a living weapon. They are pretty rare in Ferangia. Listening closely reveals snoring noises
You notice the name impala; it's a city to the south of Ferangia that three years ago declared its own independence. The city still retains its status as a glyph city, and it maintains an active military that trains their members from a young age. The city is noted for taking a dim view on outsiders, and has reacted millitarily to tribes and small villiages

The stallkeeper took a deep breath, hovered her hand above the chosen shell, before lifting it to reveal... the marble!

“Well, I know when I'm beat” the stallholder said with a laugh, making a theatrical show of reaching to the back of the stall and grabbing the pokeball from it's stand, before placing it on the counter-top. “Can't convince you to take one of the other prizes, eh? Well, he's yours now. Take care of him, will ya. Might want to say hi to your cheerleader as well” she finished with a wink.

felicity's ball strikes the aipom clean on, opening as the light flows into it, before falling to the ground and beginning to shake. It shook once.... then again..... but then is burst open with the little purple monkey escaping

The monkey pokemon, upon breaking free, made a beeline for felicity and dot, now seeing the two of them as a threat. It bounded towards dot, it's nimble moves only slightly hampered by the paralysis, leaping into the air above it before raking it's tail hand down the front of the mushroom pokemon as it landed.

Oh No - The pokemon broke free! It looked like it had it.

Watching the match has been a delight so far. Ugo had his gut feeling confirmed yet again. This guy was good ... Thumping the crossbow veteran down in one hit was quite the feat. But it was lost on Ugo why that man used a smokeball.

Behind him he heard whispers as Rangi's last match came up. The sound of numbers suggested that they were now taking small bets on the fight. Some were in the favor of the girl, but a lot seemed to root for the fearsome tribesman. Or at least, that's what Ugo could make of it. He was more focused on the field though. How would he prepare himself this time?? Will he destroy the warrior girl with her dragon Pokemon, or will he succumb under the strain of the two previous fights ... The majority of the crowd wanted to see someone win the pot though, and so did Ugo.

Rangi grins as the other warrior falls, absentmindedly cracking his knuckles as he does so. Two warriors down and hardly a scratch between he and Krako. In Rangi's opinion this battle was going perfectly, at least thus far. He was hardly injured and, at this point, his Pokemon were still dominating the battlefield. True, it could be going better; the flames had managed to do a cursory amount of damage, but so far he was in good shape.

When the last opponent appears Rangi squints through the smoke, frowning slightly. An Impalan? Well, it was a good thing they decided to make this interesting. Stupid xenophobic bastards; the Garadin, like all tribes, had clashed with them more than once. Rangi would enjoy putting the bastards in their place.

Of course, it would be easier to end this battle with a quick blast of power, something that neither he nor Krako could supply anymore. He needed sometime more. With a grunt he releases Regina, the snake coiling in shock at the smoke before settling down, hopefully understanding the situation.

"Regina, give Krako your power," the Trainer says before beginning to slam his club into his shield, roaring and bellowing at Regina to grow her power. This was the fight that would bring him glory, meaning that it was one that Rangi needed to be victorious in.

"Give them a little taste of the wild!" the savage warrior states, eyes burning with anticipation within the smokescreen.

Felicity nodded when the ball failed to capture, and she grinned when Dot was able to shrug off most of the attack. Under less than ideal conditions with a full health pokemon and her lowest quality ball she hadn't expected to get it on her first try. The next step was, of course, to start racking up damage while she continued to pester it with low quality pokeballs. No use spending anything more extravagant on an Aipom. Time to change tactics. Dot use Seed Bomb

The parasect's mushroom contracted, a small hole appearing at the top as it forced a small seed out at point blank range at the aipom. Felicity ran to the side and tossed another pokeball in her own smooth motion.

The frenzied swirl of leaves surrounded the military cadet and her pokemon, the storm generated by Regina blanketing them in razor edged shrubbery. Almost as soon as it had come on, the storm cleared, and the little Axew seemed none the worse for wear, save a couple of nicks and scratches, same with the sword pokemon at her waist (though it did seem to have woken up at least) ; the trainer, however, could hardly say the same – the cloth parts of her apparel where ripped to shreds, her limbs bleeding profusely and she looked to be on her last legs

“Well, your pokemon's certainly no joke. Your not bad, for a savage” She said with a slight laugh, reaching into the pouch at her waist and pulling out a small vial of orange liquid, before knocking off the top and drinking the contents down with a grimace. As she did, she seemed to get steadier on her feet.

With that, she pointed towards Regina, calling out to her pokemon “Edge, time for us to show our stuff!”

Rangi is silent as the cadet taunts him, a frown growing on his face. After the potion the Trainer would certainly be a little better for wear, although Regina still may be able to end the Trainer in a single attack; the snake was certainly powerful which was a small blessing.

As the tiny dragon rushes towards his Servine Rangi glares at it, sighing in relief as a shimmering barrier appears in front of his companion, absorbing some of the mighty blow from the dragon, although the bladed attack still blasts through the meager barrier. He needed to end this now.

With a growl Rangi charges forward, head low as he pulls back a leg, bringing it up with as much force as he can muster into the stomach of the girl, hoping to catch her off guard. It wasn't much, but it should give Regina the opening she needed to hopefully end this battle.

The eye on the sword remained closed, but that did little to deal with the edge. Loft is awed in the way somebody who's never won anything before reacts when they win something truly valuable.

He releases the slowpoke amid fanfare from Velveteen, who hops around Loft so much his hat falls from its perch on her ears! Loft doesn't even try to duck when she hugs him from above.

"Easy there, Velveteen! 'guess we gotta name our new friend here, soon," he chuckles, waving to the vapid looking 'mon, though the 'poke comes right up to Loft and headbumps against the young fellow's shin amicably. "Dun worry, new guy, I'll think of something good for ya," the slowpoke is returned to his pokeball, which disappears into Loft's jacket sleeve. As Velveteen mimics the flick of the wrist Loft just performed, Loft himself bows towards the stallkeeper respectively. " S'a fine match we played, there. Thank you for the experience.: There's no malice behind the honest thanks as Loft turns...

"I hope um... You weren't after the slowpoke, were you?" he intones nervously...

Felicity picks up the pokeball and flips it from hand to hand. Now that the hunt was completed her tunnel vision faded away and she realized that she was in a marketplace as opposed to the center of the forest. She smiled. It had been a while since she'd had an audience for a capture, and she enjoyed being able to put on a show. An Aipom huh? I can't say that I particularly want one, but I could sell or trade it for a decent price. As far as normal types go they're decently powerful and have some tricks up their sleeves.

Turning to the man and anyone else who was around, she made a shameless plug, monopolizing on any attention that she now had. If any of you would like to commission me to capture a pokemon or to make specialty pokeballs for you, come see me. My name is Felicity, and I'll have ways to contact me posted in the usual places by the end of the week. I'm a professional capture specialist and pokeball crafter that can hunt down a wide variety of pokemon to add to your team. It could be useful for those of you wanting to enter the arena, no? She made a mental note to find places where people could post jobs and commission work, perhaps an adventurer's guild was somewhere in the area? Eh, she'd figure it out. It couldn't be too different from home.

Felicity quickly released the Aipom and removed the bauble that it held before returning it to its new home. Walking up the the merchant she handed it to him and, with a smile, said Now how about those three games that you promised me?

A shadow passed underneath the cloth borders of the stall, unoticed, beofre it slowly gained more mass, more prescence, Eberus rising out of the darkness enough to see and hear around him. Through his crystaline eyes, Gússtav can see two humans in the tent, surrounded by two piles of pilfered goods

“...plan is foolish. If we want the scales, we should just send your pokemon to grab it” one of the figures, the largest of the two is saying in a harsh whisper “they've proved adept enough to bring us all this worthless junk!”

“Settle down, and think, my friend. Do you think picking pockets compares to grabbing something that will let us retire? No, that would not only fail, it would fail spectacularly and make it harder for us. No, the aipom are just a distraction. Anything they grab for us is just... a bonus”

“Huh, never send a clerk to do a thief's job. Your just making it too complicated.”

“Maybe, but it's no fun if its too easy, and at least I'm here, unlike little miss ruffles. Just be ready, all the real threats are busy posing and preening in Hunter's Hall, so we'll be ready to move any minute. Now smile, we have a customer coming...”

------------------------------
Felicity
------------------------------

“Well you earned them, little miss” the stallkeeper says happily, tipping his hat back

“The games pretty simple, but don't think that makes it easy!” he says with a wide smile, gesturing behind him to the long alley of his stall, and the number of targets moving back and forth. Each target is carved like a pokemon, and a small crossbow is strapped into the front counter. A quick glance reveals the arrows have no head, and it's easy to see that it dosen't have the power to do any real damage “just take that there pea-shooter and see if you can hit one of these here moving targets. You get one shot a game, because out in the bush them critters aint gonna wait for you to reload.” he says with a loud laugh.

Most of the targets are carved to resemble simple, early evolution pokemon; nidorans, caterpies, the like. As you get further back, however, they start to be a bit bigger, the evolved versions of those pokemon. Right at the back of the tent, the carvings are of fully evolved pokemon. “Now if you can hit a target, any target, you win a cool $100. Hit one of the ones in the middle, you get double that. Tag one of the 'big game' and you take home five times the normal prize. Keep your eyes peeled though, because there's one really big one in there, and if you tag that one, you get a special prize”

Around the two of you, you can see the aipom begin to disperse a little, some looking a little sad, others seemingly rather smug. A small group of them, however, have taken to dancing around Dot, hoping either for more of the sweet scent, or maybe just following the one they see as the 'strongest' around. They don't look to be planning anything, thankfully

“and Missy, if your looking or a place to advertise, I'd say check in at the Hunter's Hall. You can't miss it, it's got its own bloody hill and anything, and let me tell you the place is murder on these old legs! We could use an arm like yours if your looking for work.”

Everyone, put your hands together... for Rangi, of the Garadin tribe!" the announcer starts up again, stepping into the ring, a golden trophy in his hands

Limping somewhat, the warrior makes his way towards the center of the ring, returning his two injured Pokemon for some well-earned rest.

"Thank you," the warrior states, pausing for a moment as if he was about to say more before grasping the trophy with one hand, letting it hang loosely by his side.

"Thank you," the warrior states again, more adamantly, "For the chance to show my strength and that of the Garadin tribe. Thank you for cheering for me and mine Pokemon," the warrior says before falling silent, done speaking for the moment. Rangi had never been one to waste words.

The match is a pleasure to watch. The crowd went from being dull and a bit bored from when Ugo sat down on the bench, to an explosion of ecstasy and cheers in this last fight. The tension was cutting and Ugo worried for a moment there when the Axew went for the fierce warrior's grass Pokemon. But him jumping in front to take the hit was a great and heartwarming moment in the match. The finishing Energy Ball to retaliate was the pinnacle of the battle. Every audience member stood up when that ball launched, including Ugo, and watched in anticipation. Would it hit ... Or would it miss ... When it chose to hit the trainer in the face, the whole crowd went nuts as that trainer fell to the ground.

Ugo laughs at the tattooed warrior. "This guy really is something." And he steps off the supporter's benches to find himself a remote space. "I might try my luck in that arena myself. But first, we need some training. I've slept all day on that boat ... Let's catch up!!" Ugo says as he lets out King & Kong, and they start their hour's worth of training.

So cheerfully, in fact, that she didn't even notice the fact that she was hovering a good foot-and-a-half in the air on a strong current of air. "Well, thats an interesting question. I suppose in the most literal sense, I'd have to say no, I wasn't after that slowpoke. Becuase, you see, I didn't know that there was a slowpoke in the pokeball. And if I didn't know it was there, I couldn't be after it. Since you can't want something you don't even know about, right? Right! But I was looking to play the game, since it looked fun. And its even more fun to play if there's a big prize. Soooooo...I guess I was looking to get that slowpoke, if you look at it from that perspective." as she spoke, Kalea had been slowly pivoting in place as she floated, so that by the time she paued for a breath, she was nearly completely upsidedown.
