Hi I'm trying find how you calculate the total cost reduction from feats such as Extraordinary Artisan, and Magical Artisan. i tried looking in the Dungeon master guide but i cant find it.

if you had a item that cost 10,000 gp would you take the cost to craft it your self and add the the other feats onto it, example.

1.) item cost = 10,000 gp
craft it yourself = 50% = 5,000 gp
Extraordinary Artisan =25% = 2,500 gp
Magical Artisan =25% = 2,500gp
=100% =0 gp

or

would you take the cost reduction and multiply them together

2.) item cost =10,000 gp
craft it yourself = 50% = 5,000 gp
Extraordinary Artisan =25% = 2,500 gp
Magical Artisan =25% = 2,500gp
50% * .25 = 12.5 =50 - 12.5 =37.5%
37.5% * .25 = 9.375 =37.5 - 9.375 = 28.125%
= 28.125 =2.800 gp

my math might be off. which one is correct or are both of them wrong. and if the dungeon master guide has the information, can you point to what page.

You want #2. :) The Extraordinary Artisan and Magical Artisan feats each reduce crafting costs by 25%. You apply feats in order, so it's 25% off the current price (which may have been reduced by other feats).

For an item priced at 10000 gp, you normally craft it for 5000 gp. One feat takes 25% off the normal cost of 5000, resulting in 5000 - 1250 = 3750 gp. The other feat takes 25% off of the new current cost of 3750, resulting in 3750 - 937.5 = 2812.5 gp.

so #2 is how it works. on a side note, if I have Extraordinary Artisan and Legendary Artisan could I take magical artisan twice for each one and have the 25% reduction twice.

Arguably, yes. Magical Artisan must be applied to an Item Creation feat. The <X> Artisan feats are Item Creation feats. Hence, taking Magical Artisan (Exceptional Artisan) as one of your feat options is perfectly valid.

Now, Magical Artisan and <X> Artisan are from different campaign settings--Forgotten Realms and Eberron, respectively. Magical Artisan is rightly labelled as a General feat so that it can not be applied to itself, but the <X> Artisan line obviously wasn't checked for interactions with a feat from another campaign setting.

Second to that, Magical Artisan takes effect when you make an item with the feat to which it is applied. When you craft a wondrous item, are you making an item with the Exceptional Artisan feat? Or are you making an item with the Scribe Scroll feat? Or... both? Ultimately, I feel its rules validity all comes down to pedantry and clever wordplay.
