City of Verdant Sky

作成中

Clouded and veiled with the morning mist, the sunlight seems to burn in attempt to break the dark shade under the verdant sky. Between the dancing shadows on ground, everything is dyed with the green of the sky made of leaves. The smell of mist and woodsy smell wrap together like the tangled banners and tangled hair of many of the citizens of this city.
The moss and vines seem to have made the sneak attack last night. The stone walls and houses of course are decorated with flowers, but the vines and moss are ruthlessly cut by children and families. However if asked, the locals will laugh politely and explain it is the usual occurrence.

Such is the first impression of Fernbrake. To be the city in the misty swamps called Fernbrake, it can be said that the inauspicious name is the kind of [matter-of-fact] attitude of the locals. Probably such an attitude is the necessary personality to live in such a paradox. It is a city to live together with the forest, and to always combat the forest. It is no surprise that the nature of Free Knights can be said to be realized in this city.

In this peaceful morning, it is the stares and gossip of locals to regard the foreign visitors. To come to Fernbrake is unusual even for many citizens of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities. The dangerous reputation of the Fernbrake is troublesome for tourism and merchants. However, the very fertile land and useful natural resources mean that the necessary life can be prosperous.

If it was to be asked "why are such foreigners here?" of course the answer is probably from the meeting of council members in emergency session last year. Such a conversation was probably like this:

Mr. A of Uran: "The number of Free Knights is very low right now. Surely this is a result of the last ten years."
Mr. E of Boragina: "Perhaps we have been too short sighted!"
Free Knight Peonia of Verbena: "This is the opinion we have expressed very strongly."
Mr. A: "Of course we must rectify it immediately. However, it is hard to say..."
Peonia: "The budget can't afford such a rapid deployment, is that so?"
Mr. E: "...Yes."
Peonia: You allowed the former Steward to spend so much on the construction of such a city! You should have been suspicious of where the funding for Ekbatana came!"
Mr. A: "Naturally it seemed very much like a profitable idea. Surely such a tourism and creation of new industry in Bastet will repay the budget soon."
Peonia: "It's not soon enough to save Fernbrake! There are dangerously few Free Knights who can navigate that area."
Mr. E: "Perhaps we can create tourism in Fernbrake as a method to support rebuilding Free Knight operations?"
Mr. A: "Yes, it is a good idea!"
Peonia: "It's not good!"
Mr. A: "If the Free Knights can protect the tourists, it will be to kill two birds with one stone!"
Peonia: "But the birds in Fernbrake are more dangerous than 10000 stones, you know!"
Mr. E: "It's decided! We will approve the budget expansion to support new Free Knight training programs. However, we will invite foreigners to experience a safari adventure! It will be exotic for them. I am sure that they will be very excited to see the land."
Mr. A: "And to travel through the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities will be very profitable for our merchants and hotels."
Peonia: "...You aren't listening to us, are you? I have a bad feeling about this plan."

Foreigners who arrived to experience the safari already left their entourage behind in Uran or Verbena to travel to this isolated city. Arriving the last night, it can be expected several days of enjoyable travel to see monsters and breathtaking forest views. Perhaps even some monsters can be hunted!

Of course the dangerous and adventurous atmosphere maybe will be unbearable for some visitors. The warm mist and fragrant orchards of Fernbrake provide the wonderful spa and relaxation environment in the safety of city walls. Therefore, the leisure of some guests can be enjoyed while the adventurous spirit can be satisfied with explorer adventure. The resort and spas seem very well-maintained and decorated with stone and lapis lazuli mosaic tiles from Kanyat. There are beautiful embroidered towels from Bastet and Sphynks musicians who seem slightly annoyed by the humid weather also improve atmosphere of the resort, and a few hospitalers can be seen with smiles, to secretly enjoy a small vacation after some difficult deployment. Popular tea and aimoh from Dong-Nam-Dosi are also available at the resort where a certain smiling blue haired woman with gold haired assistant maintain a cheerful inn atmosphere.

What sort of vacation will be enjoyed?

Thank you everyone for participation! Let's enjoy playing together!
For this Safari Event, there are some locations for roleplay. Therefore, please players designate such a [location] to prevent misunderstanding:

Alavara regarded Nymir worriedly as she held their daughter Ivis up to say goodbye, who tugged on her daddy's leafy hair. He put his arms around them both and rubbed his wife's back reassuringly. Their family reverie was rudely interrupted as Taniara splashed them from the spa pool, grinning deviously as she soaked her cousin. Ivis reached her arms out to Taniara who took her, and they splashed and giggled together in the warm water. King Uialben put his arms around Nymir and Alavara,

"Don't worry about Nymir, he's got his dad to look after him, no serpents are going to be the match for us!" He grinned at his son confidently who suddenly looked unsure about taking his aging father to a serpent filled jungle.

"I wonder if I can get a foot rub before the expedition departs?" Uialben wandered off towards the help desk and Nymir rolled his eyes,

"I better get him back to my mother in one piece." Alavara finally smiled and brought Nymir's hand to rub her belly,

"You come home to the three of us in one piece, too." Nymir looked surprised, then grinned, the grin turning to a scowl for his cousin as she splashed them again from the pool as she laughed.

"I'd better go find my father." Nymir said glancing around, the King was nowhere in sight. He shook his head, and gave an exasperated sigh, this was going to be harder than he thought.

Day 1
Before Safari Departure

A pair of strangers arrived on the horizon by mid-morning, a pair of shadows mounted and approaching from the west along the river to Fernbrake; they must have traveled through Bastet to get here, maybe even through Kemuliaan. As the two came closer, it became possible to make out more detail: One was a Frosten man clad almost fully in dirty white garments and riding a fine brown Kellogg horse. Though he still wore his cheche to keep the sun off his head, he'd pulled the mask down to his chin to bare his face, tanned to an odd shade of gray after his trip through the desert. He wore a sheath upon his left hip and another upon his back, though the latter was covered by a mantle consisting of a steel gorget with spaulders and a short indigo cape. The second figure was perhaps the stranger of the two to those unfamiliar, a sandy beige Nothokhua clad in his own eggshell-white headdress and draped in airy fabrics as protection from the sun; all four feet were wrapped to prevent the chitin from burning on the hot sand too. This one was clearly a warrior, however: Serrated blades were strapped to his claws to enhance their shearing ability, and his compound eyes scanned almost incessantly for any hint of danger.

"You know, Keito, you're allowed to talk. I feel like all of our conversations are quite one-sided, to say the least.", said the Frosten perhaps a bit too loudly.

"..."

He shrugged. "Alright, if you insist. Do you think this is the place they spoke of in Tanzer? Er, Fernbake, I think they called it? Farmbreak? Hm." He waved in the general direction of the resort. The mantis signed 'yes' with the Sycian signal; his claws couldn't make the motions needed for more complex communications, but simply answering in the affirmative or negative was perfectly workable. Chuckling to himself, the young man urged his horse onward; the mare had been through a lot since they'd left Kemuliaan, but she was of a hardy breed and would be able to rest soon enough. "Ah, Fernbrake, that was it. Well, shall we?"

Day 1
Before Safari Departure

To prepare for foreign guests, there are a large number of staff. Most are young, probably students to work during summer vacation. Especially the common hair color is green and blue, as expected of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities. Wearing white uniform with embroidered diamond patterns, they are available to help guests and can be seen to bring towels and food if it is desired. For the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities who are famous for agriculture and especially the Fernbrake fertile land, it is bountiful display even to make a certain harvest and fire deity blush.
Local staff seem excited and barely contained curiosity, to gossip and whisper quietly about foreigners. Probably it is the first time for most to see them. Only Sphynks musicians seem a little annoyed with the humid atmosphere of such a misty place. However, there is always soft music to improve atmosphere.

"We can arrange for a foot massage at your convenience." Is the polite response of smiling staff to the question of King Uialben. One young woman hurries off to retrieve a bowl of flower fragrant oil and lotion.

Riding through the misty swamp and giant trees towards Crown Prince Khyne II and Keito is a single young woman in uniform style of Free Knight. Her cyan hair dances from helmet as riding her brown horse quickly she approaches with a concerned expression.
"Fair skies as clear after rain!" She called with crisp and melodic accent.
"I am Ilex of Neu. You came a very dangerous way!" She said, sighing with relief and to look around with sharp eyes. She regarded the Nothokhua cautiously before to politely return expression.
"I will escort you to Fernbrake. You are here for our safari event?" Fortunately the city is very close. Probably swamp must be very dangerous to require escort from so close.

Khyne pulled back on the reins as the Free Knight approached, really hoping that Anoma followed the unspoken order; he hadn't had her long enough to know for sure that she would actually stop when asked, and it didn't really pay to be jumpy and fly at the first sign of law enforcement. Sure, he could probably wrangle up a bit of diplomatic immunity if he had to, but that wouldn't always work and there's really no reason to go making trouble for himself. Luckily for him, the horse did indeed stop.

For his own part, Keito nodded back to the Free Knight as she approached, relaxing his claws to adopt a more casual posture.

"Fair, cloudless skies and a dangerous way indeed!", said Khyne with mild cheer, offering a short half-bow to the Free Knight. "Pleased to meet you, Lady Ilex.", he hurriedly spoke, realizing halfway through that he actually had no idea how to correctly address a Free Knight and hoping he hadn't botched the greeting too badly; she wasn't the first he had ever seen in his travels, but she was the first he'd actually spoken to. "I'm Khyne. Er, Khyne of Glazfell. And yes, I'm here for the event; I heard some talk of it during a brief stay in Tanzer, and thought I'd come test my mettle. It sounds like a wondrous adventure, and good bit of sport to boot!"

If she happened to look at just the right moment, she might spot Keito burying his face in his claws. Khyne certainly does glance at the motion out of the corner of his eye and exclaim "Oh! And this is Keito, my friend and retainer." Apparently the lack of introduction was not the reason for the Nothokhua's gesture, as it merely shook its head again and moved on.

"But please, lead the way! I wouldn't mind some company the rest of the way to town.", said Khyne, grinning like a loon.

Day 1

When they'd received the invitation from their Western friends and trading partners, the Senate had flown into a whirlwind of excited preparation, and contest for the limited number of spots in the UJR's official delegation had been blazingly fierce. The Speaker would, of course, attend and one could hardly attend an event where other nations might be present without an official from the Ministry of Trade. But the remaining berths in the schooners sent by the UJR to the Free Cities were another story. The small craft had proven their worth many times over in the last decades, faster than almost any other vessel afloat, resolutely seaworthy, and yet possessed of far more firepower than their small size would suggest.

Yet even three such ships would only carry a small group, and ruthless bargaining on the part of the Speaker had ensured that it contained someone from every province of the Union, all eager to take part. Hunting was not quite a sport in the Republics, but many provinces traded in animals that required catching, and there was certainly a degree of sportsmanship in the hunting of Woodwind's Dire Boar. Dangerous sport too, so understandably those who had taken part in such events were given more credence on their contest for a place in the group sent.

It was not exactly a small delegation, but nor was it a large one, all but twelve had been tasked to explore other parts of the Free Cities, whilst a Fellows group who had traveled with them made their way north towards Maur. The Minister of Trade was particularly excited, hopeful to open further trade between the two Republics, almost as enthused as the retired Chancellor Hammer who had come to represent Grizzland and was apparently hoping to encounter one of the strange and deadly monsters of the Fernbrake. The Free Cities were among the most treasured of the Union's friends, and they had seen much in their travel to the city that they might aid. And the spa seemed the best venue for offering. Hopefully there would be someone there who had received the Speaker's letter.

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT
PRE-EXPIDITION

There was perfume on the air. Assica'Morew Hannar released her grasp on the long fur around Veras' neck, trailing her arms in the wind, allowing the growing gale to rack the contours of her body. She lived to fly with speed, with grace, with the agility of Mazara herself. Telk may have been the best flyer in Telek'kra, but she knew she was the fastest. Telk'Hazar Duriduo, the great leader of Telek'kra had known her since she was a child, when she had become a prodigy for her fast flight. With such speed, what else was there but to be a hunter? And Assica was the best. The best of the best. When Telk finally joined Mazara in the clouds, she would have a good chance at becoming the next great leader. Not that she wanted it. How could she fly so fast with that responsibility? No, she was not so good a flyer as Telk, that she could carry such a weight.

She pulled her hand back into her body, and lent in close to Veras. He read her movements seamlessly and instantly, charging into a nosedive that pushed the air into slipstreams of whistling water, and sent the rushing, pounding of the world into her head. Assica had been sent to meet with the Landwalkers of the north, who had requested hunters to deal with a snake problem they had been having. Assica could hunt a Wind Viper through the densest jungles, and dive through great waterfalls to reach pythons at the bottom. No snake would face her down and survive. She glanced to her right, where the dark robed figure sat upon his jet Mazra. No creature under Mazara's wing would face down this Mazradin. A shudder ran down her spine, tasting bittersweet with the euphoria of flight. Her mother had threatened her with stories of the Tul'Ski, robed servants of Mazara, but she had never thought she would see one, let alone fly with one. Telk had insisted that she be accompanied by one. The Landwalkers in the north seemed good natured, but in this age, with infidels in the East and South, she could not allow herself to trust them fully. If they were betrayed and demon worshippers came for her, the escort could not protect them. But Tul'Ski... She shuddered to think what would happen to a demon worshipper who found themselves at this ones mercy.

The Fernbrake opened up before her, alien and new. Mist covered lowland, with tiny trees almost as low as the bushes on the jungle floor. Rivers of still water, murky but shallow, branching out in nonsensical directions, like it couldn't tell whether it should go downhill or up. Things slithered in the undergrowth, venomous, sleek and deadly. At least that hadn't changed. Her destination appeared through the pea-soup fog ahead of her. Breath left her body. Colours of blue and gold dazzled through the mist, fine smells of incense, like the priests used, wafted through the air and up the slits she used as nostrils. Where had these people found such colour in stone. Stone was grey and dull, without life. The trees were vibrant and moving, and the sky was a being of its own, whipping this way and that. This did not bode well. They may have taken such riches from demons, and cursed spirits, for she could not have thought where else to find them. Still, she would be patient, and gauge and learn from these people, to soon to judge them.

As the escort came down in the blue-gold square, Landwalkers in white gowns, adored with diamond patterns, fell back a few paces and stared with a mixture of curiosity and horror. A Landwalker with blue hair, prim like a bird, edged slowly toward where she sat on Veras. He smiled cautiously, and extended a small square of embroidered cloth. She lifted it from him carefully, tightly sprung to throw it away should it be some trick. The Tul'Ski had his hand rested on the hilt of his sword, poised. She looked at the cloth in her hands. It was exquisite, like the leaf pictures that Mazradin wove in Telek'kra. Assica dropped from Veras, and walked towards a pool of clear water, where other Landwalkers stared. She soaked the cloth and began to douse down Veras, cleaning away the grime that covered him from the flight. The blue haired Landwalker was looking at her strangely, bemused or bewildered, as though he had never seen a Mazra before. Perhaps he hadn't. As he noticed her eyes on him, he dropped into a polite smile and began to wonder away. Slowly, people began to ignore her, and the hubbub returned, billowing out in waves. She would need to find whoever was in charge of this place. She hoped they would come to her soon...

Adjusting pace to ride next to Khyne, Ilex's expression became very surprised.
"Glazfell? Tanzer? You came from Tanzer? But you didn't come from Neu." She looked curiously and disbelieving of Khyne.
"Did you travel through Uzan?" She asked, and then looked with confusion at Keito.
"Is your retainer from the desert?" She asked cautiously.
While such questions, the heavy mist and giant shade of trees glitters on the uniform. The giant stone walls of the city of Fernbrake can be seen in the small clearing of the swamp.
"Anyway." She continued. "You arrived barely in time for the safari. To be honest, I was scouting to prepare for the path. I did not expect any guests to come from your direction. It is a relief you survived. Fernbrake has many large monsters, like cockatrice, cyclops, drake..." She began to say the list in alphabet order.
"...If you were attacked, probably you would be killed." She sighed with a small rueful sullenness. It can be easily imagined she is wondering how to protect the safari guests, with such a burden of responsibility. If it can be said of the despondent style of people of Neu, they are blunt and dour types. Such is the style of a person from city known for always rain and lightning.
The large stone gates are reached, and it can be emphasized the thick walls to be 10 meters tall and 5 meters wide. Inside however, the atmosphere is very different.
"I apologize if it seems an insult was given." She said. "I am in charge of the safari expedition." The explanation. A small smile is attempted and shows a rare pretty expression.
"Welcome to Fernbrake."

Day 1
Before Safari Departure

The delegation of UJR received a warm welcome to arrive at Fernbrake. The staff of Spa and Resort helped with luggage and to direct to the lobby. Inside the cool stone and beautiful decorated walls of mosaic can be seen. The depictions of monster slaying and something that must be legendary heroic stories. The fragrance of flowers is probably peony and iris.
A young woman with long blue hair and silver and lapis lazuli decorated necklace greeted the Speaker with smile and bow. "Fair Skies as Clear after Rain. I am Peonia of Verbena. You must be tired after such a long journey."

"Some foreigners landed a riding monster in the spa." was the wry and tired report from a staff member to Melanthia. She looked with disbelief with green eyes at the blue haired young man.
"You are joking."
He shook his head negatively. Melanthia groaned.
"Why do foreigners think it is ok to fly here and there with monsters? Someday they will be shot down by accident. Especially in Fernbrake. Actually, who is on guard duty? Why didn't they shoot it down? That sort of negligence when there are guests here is unforgivable." She demanded.
"Calm down, Melanthia." Lirio amusingly said.
"If they were shot down, it would be more troublesome. Therefore, let's ignore the improper behavior. Shouldn't you go meet them?"
Melanthia gestured at the white dress in the style of the Spa and Resort with distaste.
"I will go. It's my duty as a free knight, even though I would rather go on the safari than to deal with these ignorant foreigners."
"Just be polite." Lirio encouraged.

Assica'Morew Hannar was approached finally by Melanthia. She had long green hair decorated with iris, and bowed politely with a smile.
"Fair skies as clear after rain! I am Melanthia of Rubia. Welcome to Fernbrake. It may be a surprise, however this is not a landing area. It is the bathing and relaxation area for the guests to this resort. If you would kindly follow me, I will show you to the Prestigious Heroic Academy of Free Knights of Fernbrake for stable facility, and then I will be happy to show you to your rooms at this resort." She paused.
"Did you come for the safari?" She asked, curiously.

Sensing Ilex' incredulity at his claims, Khyne took the opportunity to respond to the first bit while she rattled off a worryingly long list of beasts and monsters that could have murdered him on the way. "Oh, I would have surely gone to Neu and rested myself a bit were I not so short of time, but as you mentioned I barely made it even so. I traveled the northern edge of the river here, and didn't pass anywhere near Uzan." In truth he wasn't actually entirely sure where Neu was, but he vaguely remembered that the Free Knight he was speaking to hailed from there, so it couldn't be too far.

Keito took the opposite approach to the question directed at him, signing 'no' and saying no more.

As the Free Knight finished her list, though, the prince nodded, even if in truth he wasn't sure how these creatures could go from 'certain death' to 'manageable risk' with one more sword-hand around. "Well, I'm glad you're around then! Such an ignominious and early death would be unfortunate." Snapping the reins one more time to push Anoma through the gates, he glanced around for a stable.

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT
PRE-EXPIDITION

Ah, at last the Landwalkers had come to speak with her. By the stares that she had received she knew it would not be long. No doubt they thought her foolish and unversed in their ways, but Assica had taken the time to study the larger differences in their culture before arriving. She carried the towel that she had been soaking over her shoulder, and began the long and painful hobble towards Veras. As she walked she did her best to keep her back straight and prevent her legs from buckling and the ankles and knees. It was like a fish out of water compared to these Landwalkers, but for a Mazradin, she doubted any could have done better. Who needed to walk anyway? It was slow and ungainly, especially compared to the fluidity of flight or the ease with which she could swing from trees. Vegas lowered himself to the ground in anticipation of her, and as she came near, her long arms swung out to catch the long hair of his neck, and daintily pull the rest of her body into riding position.

She looked over it where the Landwalker was waiting expectantly. Her hair was bright green, long and braided, like the Wen'Hara of Jor'zhar ur Mazdur'Geldar, and many tiny flowers where woven into it. It was a bizarre effect, that made her seem like an ornament more than a person, but Assica knew that many Landwalkers placed great emphasis on superficial beauty, and determined not to be rude, just to accept this difference in their cultures and be done with it. Still, it was difficult not to speak with reverence, when her hair looked so much like a Wen'Hara...

Assica: Entaro'Tazingar Landwalker, if I may know your name? I am Assica'Morew Hannar, first chosen of Mazara, and the first of the hunt of Telek'kra. I am sorry that us made such an unknown arrival, but it seemed to me that this was the only flat ground to drop, and the- the tiled- tiled thing on top of this building seemed to thin to take the power of five Mazra. Again, my littlest apologies. As for this Saf- Safari?, I do not understand. I am here in response to the request for snake hunters for your land, and Telek'kra sent me to assist in this, along with your own hunters. I hope there has not been any confusion. We are here to hunt beasts, yes?

Assica looked at the Landwalker. Her language skills still were not up to scratch, but Mazara willing she had not made an utter fool of her self. But there was nothing to do but press on.

Assica: In so much as this stable, I am aware of these. However, as you may have noted, Mazradin are not so good for walking, but rather for riding Mazra on the air and across the ground, so it is almost impossible for me to leave Veras, this is Veras so you know, and remain mobile. I also understand how you live in 'buildings' of stone. I also see that Veras will certainly not fit in there, so if it is the same to you, I think that my people and I will sleep outside, as we are used to doing. I hope that this is not a problem, as my body simply cannot allow for me to do that which you do so easily.

She looked down at the Landwalker, and hoped that she had given a coherent explanation, and that she would be accepted. It would not do well to be rejected in the north, with a legion of demons in the south...

Cantroth arrives at the Fernbrake spa and resort
early morning of day two

Four Homirum come, for lack of a better word, bounding into the spa. Although they have been running for several days only stopping to sleep they quickly catch their breath and compose themselves. Two of them have black wool on their legs and frizzy black hair atop their heads. One of them has brown wool and shaved his head to make his curly horns seem larger. Strapped to their backs each carries a heavy platinum club. Clubs like these may seem like an expensive waste to some but in Cantroth platinum is an extremely common metal and it is heavy enough to make an ideal bludgeoning weapon.

The white haired Homirum leads the others to the nearest staff person. He bows before saying, "Hail! I am Consul Marrwin Kozlov of the Del'Taihn provinces! These are Sphen and Vlad," indicating the black haired Homirum, "and this is Jurg," the brown haired, "We are ever so sorry for our late arrival but we found the way here harder to navigate than expected. Zhido Kretoria arrives day two.

After such a long journey, day and night stoping occasionally to sleep, the three Were Bears head straight to the spa to relax/rest for a while before day three of the Safari. The three that came were Amber Woods, the female Grizzly Were Bear Queen and two Polar Were Bears, Kindle and Frostbite, that lead the law enforcement and important construction. They have each brought bear sized back packs with human sized clothes and stone spears, bows and arrows. Amber transforms into human form and puts on her fine caribou fur clothes before approaching a staff member and asking politely when they will depart on the safari or if she has missed it or not.

The Speaker bowed in return at the greeting, eyes sparkling at the bright welcome. The city was certainly beautiful, for all that it was built as well as most fortresses. It reminded him of the fortifications of his adoptive homeland in some ways, where beauty could be found in the form of their function.

"A long journey, Knight Peonia, yes. But a Speaker must be used to such things," he smiled. "The Union is a nation of many places, and it is the duty of a Speaker to know them all." The tanned woman to his left shook snorted at his statement, and he chuckled. "Come now, Dama, it was your mother who told me that."

"Here is hardly the place for personal politics, Senator." The older man to the Speaker's right interjected before Dama could reply. His hair was whitened and skin rough through the trials of age, yet his eyes were clear and bright despite it and he bowed too to their host. "Minister for Trade Nemya, Lady Peonia. It is my hope that we have much to talk about. I believe Speaker Isse exchanged letters with you on the subject before our departure from the Union."

Ilex seemed more relaxed after returning to the city.
"Your horses can be kept at the Prestigious Heroic Academy of Free Knights of Fernbrake. I will guide them if you would like to rest at the Spa and Resort, the Safari will depart in an hour. I will come to meet the safari group at the resort, so please relax until that time." She explained.
"Of course if there is something I can do to help, please tell me!"

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT

Melanthia waited politely, but the walking of the new creature that flew the monster looked painful. Maybe they were not used to walking?
That would be troublesome. How were they going to enjoy a safari? Poor Ilex won't be able to keep an eye on them if they are flying.
However, the explanation of misunderstanding was strange.

"Snake hunters?" Melanthia asked with confusion. Certainly that was not asked for, especially of foreigners. Maybe it was a mistranslation?
"The safari is to go sightseeing in the misty swamp. There are large monsters. If you want to hunt them, it is dangerous, but Ilex of Neu, the safari guide, might allow such an activity. I don't know about snake hunting, however. Probably there is a misunderstanding, I apologize." She bowed politely.
"If your Veras can walk, probably it is ok for the safari. Most participant will walk or ride a horse, so I hope it can be arranged. Because Fernbrake is dangerous, sleeping outside is forbidden. It is a public hazard. Therefore I will try to find an accommodation appropriate for you. If you are departing on the safari, it will leave shortly. Therefore it will be unnecessary to worry about sleeping here for this time. By the time the safari returns tonight, accommodation will be properly made. Would you like breakfast before the safari?"

"It is nice to meet you." Peonia repeated politely to meet each minister.
"We would like to extend the hospitality of the city and of course the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities for your delegation. I have a room in this resort prepared. If you would like to relax before speaking, I understand. However, your duties and responsibilities I will honor, too. If you would like to talk now, I will be prepared." She said, to show the delegation to a large private room. Drinks were brought by two staff members and Peonia gracefully poured the drinks. Her eyes returned to minister Nemya and the Speaker as she gestured for them to sit in comfortable chairs.
"I did receive the letter of your Speaker. Although I am afraid our country is without a Steward. Therefore the council must make approval of arrangements." She said regretfully. "However, I swear as a Free Knight that I will keep our made promises. I have the permission of the council to make the negotiations with you because of our correspondence together."
She politely curiosity regarded the delegation.
"At what topic would you like to begin?"

Fernbrake Spa and Resort
Day 2
Before Safari Departure

Cantroth arrives at the Fernbrake spa and resort
early morning of day two

Four Homirum come, for lack of a better word, bounding into the spa. Although they have been running for several days only stopping to sleep they quickly catch their breath and compose themselves. Two of them have black wool on their legs and frizzy black hair atop their heads. One of them has brown wool and shaved his head to make his curly horns seem larger. The last has white fur with wild white hair and a bushy mustache. They wear simple blue and green vests and like most Homirum they prefer to leave their hooves bare.

Has the safari already departed? If not where should we go to meet the others? And by the way those flowers in your hair look awfully tasty."

Arriving in the early morning, probably it was able to be received as the gates of city became opened. Therefore, the arrival was known at Spa and Resort, however the staff number is small at such an early arrival. The sleepy pair of staff hurry to prepare the lobby as the guests arrive. In this manner, the flustered young woman with blue hair meets the Homirum.

"Please don't eat the flowers! They are for decoration." The surprised staff member protests and guards her hair.
"There will be another safari departing tomorrow. Lady Ilex of Neu will be guiding such a tour in the morning. It may be possible to attend this morning, however if you are traveling so quickly, probably it is better to relax a little? The vacation experience to rest in Fernbrake at this Spa and Resort is a rare opportunity! I can prepare the private room for your relaxation." She offers politely.
"If you would like breakfast, it can be arranged an appropriate style. Do you only eat flowers?" is the cautious question.

Zhido Kretoria arrives day two.

After such a long journey, day and night stopping occasionally to sleep, the three Were Bears head straight to the spa to relax/rest for a while before day three of the Safari. The three that came were Amber Woods, the female Grizzly Were Bear Queen and two Polar Were Bears, Kindle and Frostbite, that lead the law enforcement and important construction. The bears are met by Melanthia who is wearing sandals and white dress with lapis lazuli necklace. Because of flower fragrance, probably she was outside relaxing at spa before informed about arrival of new guests.
"Welcome to Fernbrake and to the Spa and Resort. I am Melanthia of Rubia. I am afraid the safari already departed today. However, I would like to offer the hospitality of our Spa and Resort. Please relax after your long journey. The final safari will depart tomorrow morning. Please be reassured that attendance can be made for it!"
She looked curiously at the guests.
"Is there anything I can do for you?"

Safari
Day 3

Encounter Begins! (https://youtu.be/F-4H95JhxLU)

Even though the misty atmosphere hasn't changed, the third day has been tension. In the morning Ilex never smiled as she seemed to concentrate intently on the environment. Between giant trees such a shadow can be seen occasionally that is a worrisome moment for mounts who can be scared more easily than humans.
"We are being followed." Is the explanation of Ilex. "Probably it is a monster that is hunting us. I hope this sort of excitement is what you were looking forward to experiencing on the safari."

The normally daily activity of travel in the humid and misty swamp is not necessarily a vacation that is enjoyed by many people. However, the chance to see rare monsters like chimera and dire wolves is not disappointed over the two days of travel. Fortunately the distance has remained, so there was no need for fighting, maybe that is the skill of the guide who has been working tirelessly to ensure the safety of the guests despite forced to the ridiculous situation.

It is afternoon before Ilex reluctantly announces to the guests.

"I do not think a fight can be avoided, so I hope you have a weapon to defend yourself."
Immediately after the statement is made, there is the rumble of large crashing scrub and bushes to make way for the dark shape appearing.
At first it seems like it must be an elephant sized creature, however the tension increases as the constant crash is realized to be some distance away. A shrieking hiss like angry snake echoes between the trees and muffles the sound as Ilex draws her sword and turns her brave horse around to face the back line of the party.
"Hydra!" She warningly yells.

Confirming like the invited guest calling for assistance at inn door, such a loud shriek momentarily deafens as the house-like tree at edge of trail is crushed into the ground with slam. Scattering around, it is a miracle or skill that no one is injured.
Raising up with a menacing posture, the monster larger than the trees is the terrible king of the Fernbrake monsters. With four heads, already it can be said to be a veteran of countless battles. Echoing shrieks like choir's melody together, the four monsters heads reveal fangs and it's hunger.
Escape is impossible now, probably there is only one chance, to fight!

Ilex looks determined, probably this is the spirit to resemble the indomitable courage of the gallant type called [Free Knight]. Those that saw the mosaic tiles of history in the spa maybe will wonder at the resemblance of Ilex, to compare strongly to a certain free knight. However, at this moment a distraction only cause death!
"I swear that I will protect you!" Is the courageous words, even if the battle looks very hopeless.
The hydra examines it's new preys, making preparations to attack!

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT
PRE-EXPIDITION

The green haired Landwalker, who's name Assica still didn't know, seemed happy. No, she was confused. Landwalkers made different faces to Mazradin when they were happy, and she was fairly sure this one meant that the Landwalker was confused. Or hungry. Which meant that her own attempts at seeming happy were making her looked confused for the Landwalker. Why with Mazara's power, did the Landwalkers have to be so confusing. How was it they showed joy? Baring the teeth, curved mouth, raised eyebrows. A mixture of anger and constipation. Assica stretched her face to show off her tombstone teeth. Hopefully that would suffice. In addition to this confusion, it seemed that there had been a misunderstanding with her presence here. A recreational hunt perhaps, or exploration. The concept was not foreign to her, as the people of Telek'kra often hunted for sport or to keep up their skills with rope and dagger, but it had seemed that there was a sense of danger in the news Telk had received. Perhaps there was still hidden danger. She would be careful.

Assica: Breakfast is your morning meal, yes? My people are hungry from the long ride, and we would appreciate food to keep our strength up. Do you have fruits for my men, and perhaps some snake or Terecor for our Mazra? It would be very helpful. As for this Sa- Safari? myself and my brother will attend. I hope you do not mind if that Mazradin in the black robe watches us from the skies? He is very protective, and you need not worry for his safety. I fear there is little in the world that could truly hope to threaten him.

With introductions complete, Assica turned from the Landwalker and began to walk away. This would be the perfect opportunity to learn more of these people, and perhaps others from distant lands who had come for the Safari. The Tul'Ski was in the air, circling, assessing possible threats, finding exits, marking out suspicious people. Who knows what else. Whatever they taught Tul'Ski, they became more than Mazradin. Faster, stronger. She had seen this one practising walking like the others here, so that he could blend in more easily should he need to.

A troop of two Landwalkers came through a gate to her left, riding Landwalking beasts, along with what could only be described as a monster. Face like an insect and viscious hooked claws hanging at his sides, like a giant mantis. The others seemed at home with him, so Assica assumed he was some new variant of Landwalker that Telek'kra had not yet encountered. Just when you thought you had them worked out... After some words, one of them, a women with bright cyan hair, left the Landwalker and the monster alone. Well, if she was to learn more of these people, she would need to throw herself in. Assica approached, her teeth stretched wide.

Assica: Entaro'Tazingar Landwalker, I am Assica, first chosen of Mazara, first of the hunt of Telek'kra. May I know your name?

The Arrival of the Sharix
Day 1

As they had at the Seventh Tellurian Games, the Sharixian Republic arrives on the brilliantly white and yellow star decorated royal airship — currently owned by the present queen, Lacantha Angifer. As had become usual by now, the Queen, her sister, and her brother first departed. Following them were the Prime Minister and the few members of her Cabinet that she had brought — the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defense, this time. Then, once the notables had departed, a variety of other people exited the airship.

Notables
Queen Lacantha Angifer
Princess Jaxerto
Prince Jaxar

Prime Minister Alixvara Tierrasha
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ravuia Andique
Minister of Defense Jaxiny Shamir

The Meeting
Day 2

The preperations had been made, and the people contacted. Now, it was only a matter of convincing those assembled.

“Before I begin, it is important that my people’s relationship with the Tzaltec Empire be put into proper context. Our submission was the work of one man, and however many Tzaltec Unmarked the Empire had seen fit to send. Enough, at least, to murder every dissenting voice. Our continued submission is the work of the threat the Empire holds over us. ‘Stay where you are, or die’.”

“When I became Prime Minister, I had hoped that I could slowly weasel our way out from under the Empire. Eventually, we would be free, but recent events have caused me to abandon my long-term plan. The Empire intends to perform the same cultural erosion and replacement as they have performed multiple times before. It is something I expected, but I had hoped I would have been able to buy enough time to free ourselves before the Tzaltec bagin trying to destroy what makes us the Sharix.”

“Therefor, in a year’s time I intend to send a formal declaration of independance to the Empire. I hope that I may convince you all to sign a formal agreement pledging to back our declaration, aiding us in gaining our freedom. The exact agreement will be kept simple — and open to negotiation to an extent — and while I hope you will all help us in keeping our freedom, signing this agreement will not require that of you. We only ask for your help in first gaining it.”

The Great Sharixian Republic and the Signatories agree to the following:
— The Signatories will aid the Great Sharixian Reoublic in securing their short-term independance from the Tzaltec Empire.
— The Signatories will officially and publicly back the Great Sharixian Republic’s formal declaration of independance.

The Safari
Day 3

The reactions of the Sharix can be best summed up in several broad categories: the Prince and the Minister of Defense were both eager looking, the Queen and the Prime Minister were both reluctant, and the Princess and the Minister of Foreign Affairs both looked liked they wanted very much to go home.

With all of his usual enthusiasm, Khyne grinned back at Ilex as she offered to help in any way she could. "I only have the one horse, I'm afraid; I used to have a pegasus called Stargazer, but she was eaten by a Rock Lobster in Kemuliaan. But if you'd be willing to take Anoma here to a proper stable for some rest and a meal, both she and I would appreciate it greatly", he said while dismounting carefully, attempting to avoid disturbing his saddlebags or landing on Keito (who visibly moved two full steps away as the Prince descended). "Thanks, Ilex! I'll see you again when the Safari starts." he shouted, completely forgoing any attempt at formality or properly addressing someone of her station.

As the Free Knight presumably wandered off with the horse in tow (who proved, luckily, to be quite tractable; a bolting Kellogg is quite difficult to recover at the best of times, much less in the middle of a crowded city), Khyne and Keito soon found themselves before another new character, a Mazradin, though neither the Frosten nor the Nothokhua would know that name offhand. Or even at all, discounting the whispers of travelers and traders...

"Greetings, er, Assica", muttered the Frosten Prince, unsure just how to react to this curious new creature before him and realizing that he had even less idea how to address whatever a 'chosen of mazara' was than he did a Free Knight. "Oh, and, erm, I'm Khyne, traveler from Glazfell. And my retainer here is Keito. Are you here for the, er, safari thing?" Keito clicked once and briefly raised a claw as his name was spoken, but did not otherwise respond, merely staring at the other party.

Khyne a-little-too-quickly extended his hand for a handshake before realizing that he had forgotten to check if the Mazradin even had a hand to shake. Luckily the creature in question did have hands after all, but he realized that it would have been very awkward indeed had the other guest lacked appropriate body structures for a handshake after all. He silently thanked Yphine for the stroke of luck and wrote a mental note to himself to check this sort of thing in the future, which would no doubt be discarded by the next time it came up.

How will the safari members react?

From the Journal of Prince Khyne II,
Day 3 of his stay in Fernbrake,
on an encounter with the local wildlife

...and so it is that I must say, after a scant few hours flirting incessantly with Danger, Danger decided to cook for us a her conception of a four-course-meal. Sadly she's a terrible cook, but the door appears to be boarded up and there's a mad gleam in her eye that refuses to accept "I'm not hungry now" as an answer. This metaphor is becoming increasingly less useful as a model of the situation I'm trying to describe.

In any case, the Hydra lumbered before us, four heads lifted high, shouting and screeching with rage that we should dare to intrude upon its territory! The lady Ilex shouted something about protecting us, though I couldn't quite hear her over the monstrous shouting. Keito and I had scant seconds before the beast was upon us, so I had to think quickly. Keito adopted his usual mantis threat pose, and when that failed to affect the creature in any way he instead readied himself to slash at any of its heads that came near.

I reasoned that such a creature's scaly hide would make my normal blade useless or worse, but with those long, thin necks, perhaps the thick chopping blade of the falcata I picked up in Kemuliaan might serve better; I drew the weapon without my usual flair, and grabbed Anoma's reins; I didn't know for sure how flexible those necks were, but I reasoned that if I could slip past them and plant myself at their base, perhaps I could hack at the necks to sever them entirely. Perhaps.

I urged my horse onward in a mad gallop, circling inward from the beast's left toward the base of its neck-sprouts and holding my blade high to protect my skull should one of the heads take a swing at me. Those teeth looked sharp indeed, and though I trusted my kingdom's smithwork to keep them from puncturing my armor, I had no desire to test that.

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT
PRE-EXPIDITION

The Landwalkers hand came shooting out towards her, and to her shame, Assica recoiled back, afraid of some weapon. In the air, nearly 300 metres away, the Tul'Ski began a long striking dive towards her, his eagle eyes picking out trouble. The Landwalkers hand was still out, and he looked embarrassed. Perhaps a greeting? Assica looked at the Tul'Ski, and gave him the signal that everything was fine. He pulled out of his dive. Assica put her smile back on and stuck her hand out towards the man Khyne's chest. He looked bemused. Assica lowered her hand.

Assica: Glazfell, that is the snow covered land, is it not? It is good to meet you Khyne Snowwalker, and I pray that your gods smile on you.

Assica hoped he wasn't insulted by Snowwalker, but he had not given her his title. Perhaps these people had no titles, and only their rulers could hold a name. Or perhaps he merely had not told her. She needed to keep the conversation up, and for that she needed common ground, something they both understood and cared about. Assica looked to where the Khyne's mount was being lead away, by the blue haired woman.

Assica: I like your mount, may I know his name? This is Veras, it means Viper. People say he's the fastest flyer in all of Telek'kra.

She grinned again, careful to maintain the proper Landwalker emotions. Hopefully she could find common ground in their love for nature and their beast. From there, she hoped, she could learn more about these strange new people.

DAY 3
SAFARI TIME
HYDRA FIGHT

The beast had crashed through the trees like they were twigs. It was not so surprising, these trees were feeble and pathetic compared to the towering jungles of Telek'kra, without the glory of the Baobab or the Feltan in the low forest, or the magnificent Magora, straight and true, like a vine covered pillar into Mazara's realm. The beast itself was still vicious looking, with four serpentine heads each dripping with brutal venom. Still not so different from a viper, and it certainly did not look so dangerous as a Kelof'Sessin, the demonic flying snakes that wriggled up from below ground, to hunt in the name of Braganis. No, not nearly so deadly as that. Assica unfurled her Piat'Ton from around her waist, and Veras began to shake the hunting beads on his wings, which are used to draw the preys attention, in anticipation of the hunt. Her Piat'Ton was a long piece of golden twine with a bright blue metallic blade, trailing daggerlike on one end. This was an ancestral weapon, given to the first of the hunt of Telek'kra, blessed by Mazara and created from foreign materials.

Behind her a shout and the pounding of hooves, and the man from the snow covered lands, Khyne, was charging the beast, the Hydra it had been called, with a strange heavy sword. A fool then, or at least inexperienced in hunting. To kills a snake you must never take a sword to it, they are two slippery for the heavy handed approach. Confuse and disorientate them, and then kill them suddenly from behind. If he thought that his armour would save him, he would have to think again, it would only take one venomous scratch, and that may well have been his end. Assica sprung into action, a beat from Veras's wings bringing her swiftly within range of the Hydra, before the Khyne could reach him and be killed. In this position, it would be difficult for the other Landwalkers to assist her quickly, and she certainly would not be able to kill it like this. She began too twirl her Piat'Ton in a long sinuous pattern, letting the blade rhythmically dance before her, to prevent he Hydra from getting any closer to her. The hunting beads on Veras rattled, trying to draw the beasts attention.

Out of the corner of her eye, Assica could see her brother Begal, flying to flank the Hydra. He was not so good a hunter as her, but still a fine flyer, and an excellent shot with the Fillik, a long piece of elastic twine, that stretched across the Mazradin's arm, and was used to fire pellets, capable of piecing armour and crushing bones. He had it at the ready now, taking aim, searching for a shot that would crush the beasts skull.

The Safari
Day 3

Nymir and Uialben had fallen towards the rear of the Safari party, Nymir tapped his foot impatiently as he waited for his father to finish rummaging through his pack for his canteen. As he searched, he handed the various items he had packed on the off chance they might be useful on the trip, a small dagger, an extra pair of socks, some dried fish, a scarf, an extra bottle of massage oil from the spa.

"DAD," Nymir hissed, the threshold of his patience reached,

"Oh here it is!" Uialben pulled his canteen out from beneath his shirt where it had been hanging from a string around his neck the whole time.

There was a large rustle in the jungle behind there group and Nymir jumped, dropping all of the items Uilaben had piled in his arms on the dirt path. King Uialben quickly drew his sword, Nymir recovered from his surprise a bit slower than his father, to his own annoyance. Whatever had been lurking in the jungle just beyond the path slipped deeper into the brush away from them and they relaxed, when suddenly from behind them, towards the front of the hunting party, came a blood curdling shriek and the men whirled, swords at the ready, their jaws dropping at the site of the four headed ferocious beast that menaced their party, and the brave Free Knight who so small in comparison, who moved to protect them.

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT

Melanthia nodded. "Yes, Breakfast means morning meal. We have prepared salad and fruits. I don't think snake or Terecor is prepared, however I will see what can be arranged." Even with polite expression, such a hope for [snake-eater] is likely to be impossible.
She looked up at the sky with narrowed eyes to see through the trees and mist.
"Oh, I very much recommend that the Mazradin in the black robes land in the city very quickly. He probably will be mistaken for monster and shot down, or to attract attention of monsters and bring towards the city. It is a safety hazard. To be honest, it is fortunate that an international incident was not already occurred. When you are on the safari, probably it will be ok. However, I politely request the cooperation of the esteemed southern guests." Such a polite request was made without a polite bow.

Melanthia was not surprised by such a hyperbole of strength of the guest. No one can compare to Lady Solana! She slew a hydra by herself with only broken arm. That's the strength of a Grandmaster! Is her silent confidence. Even if Free Knights were to be reduced to Spa staff and tour guides, the pride in skill cannot be reduced.
Melanthia gestured to the gardens of the Spa and Resort.
"Probably it will be more comfortable to wait for breakfast in the garden? I will have staff prepare breakfast for you, now."

Landing an airship is a nearly impossible task, to try to avoid tall trees and difficult mist. Of course it can be said no such [airport] exists in Fernbrake, or Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities, whose stormy weather makes such a transportation impractical. Therefore the surprise and excitement of locals to witness such an attempt by the Sharix is a popular memory in future.

A young woman with long blue hair and silver and lapis lazuli decorated necklace greeted the Sharix delegation with smile and bow. "Fair skies as clear after rain. I am Peonia of Verbena. I am happy to have the chance to welcome the Queen personally to our country." Although it can be said the young woman is not dressed like a free knight, such a greeting is that style. However, the voice might be familiar.

Fernbrake Spa and Resort
Day 1
Before Safari Departure

"Eh?" The surprise on Ilex's face is becoming a familiar scenery for Khyne after such a story about Stargazer. Such a surprise and flustered look doesn't appear when the reigns of Anoma are handed. How can a pegasus be mistreated in such a way, to be ignobly eaten by rock lobster? Is her first amazement.
How can such a carefree rider have survived such a distance? Is her second amazement.
He must be very blessed by the goddess of chivalry. Is the incorrect conclusion to order the universe properly. Such a naive expression can be forgiven of Ilex, who could only imagine the [knight errant] legends she always admired as a child.
"S-sure, it's no problem." Is the stammered and flustered reply as she can only watch the prince go to the Spa and Resort entrance.
As he disappeared, she sighed and looked sideways at Anoma.
"He seems like the kind to not understand the treasured companions around him." She commented, to touch the horse's nose. Of course such an insult of master cannot be taken lightly by a dutiful horse. The headbutt is quick and skillfully avoided by the young free knight.
"I apologize! I will make sure you are not sacrificed and your master is dutifully protected." Ilex apologized to the horse.
I can only hope these three safari trips are uneventful. If we can just see cockatrice rainbow feathers or giant alligator, it is ok. Is her silent prayer and already tired sigh.

Day 2
Morning

A breakfast would be nice. We've already had our weekly lamb so yes some plant life would be wonderful. And its okay we are more for seeing nature than killing it, we can wait for the Safari

The staff member appears relieved and politely bows. "Killing nature in Fernbrake is a difficult job, usually only Free Knights can preform properly. The safari should be only to go sightseeing and enjoy environment."
"I will prepare for breakfast, soon. Are vegetarian meals ok? Would you prefer to eat in private room, on balcony, or in garden?"
The other staff member watches curiously from the desk. The lucky experience for the many young Fernbrake citizens, to enjoy the international atmosphere.

The Meeting
Day 2

The preparations had been made, and the people contacted.

“Therefor, in a year’s time I intend to send a formal declaration of independence to the Empire.

— The Signatories will aid the Great Sharixian Republic in securing their short-term independence from the Tzaltec Empire.
— The Signatories will officially and publicly back the Great Sharixian Republic’s formal declaration of independence.
The Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities representative Peonia of Verbena regards with a troubled expression.
"It is our style to protect the idea of freedom. It is one hundred years since the war for the independence of the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities began, and since my order became engulfed in the fires.
Although we cannot turn away from the cruelties of war, it cannot be regretted our actions for the self-rule of our cities. Probably our country cannot exist in the world without the bloody thirty years."
She crossed her legs and rested her head on the perched hand. It is a curious and serious expression.
"I think that it is strange tht the Great Sharixian Republic would like to declare independence from the Tzaltec Empire while to be involved in a foreign war. Honestly it was hoped to convince the Great Sharixian Republic, Trandar, and Telek'kra to cease fighting in hopes to improve the humanitarian situation. Such an instability is dangerous to everyone. Although Celero and the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities can support some of the refugees, the situation is surely becoming a crisis. With the current situation of Sharixian Republic in conflict in the north, how can a decisive action be made to defend against the Tzaltec Empire?"

Hello, everyone! Thank you for playing!

The Meeting
Day 2
"The timing of our declaration is due to political necessity. The nature of our democratic process, and the resentment created by the Tzaltec Empire towards them, means that the declaration must be made. If I do not, then the nationalists who will likely come to power after the next general election will. They, however, will be foolish enough to try and face the Empire with as little outside support as possible."

"It is unfortunate that the Telek'kra have chosen this fantastically bad time for us to lash out at their neighbor, but when the Trandar asked for our help, I felt I couldn't leave them to be overwhelmed. The situation is complicated, but from what I understand, the Telek'kra blame Trandar for the desecration of something holy to them, but apart from being their neighbor, they have no proof of who did it."

"I would prefer this situation resolved quickly, but given the reluctance of Telek'kra to abandon their commitment to further assaults on Trandar my hands are tied."

Day 1
Darrel Grant, son of Skipper-General Elizabeth Grant, attended the event with his wife, Galatea Starridge. They were hoping that, perhaps, a change of scenery might change their fortunes. For, despite anatomical compatability and enthusiastic effort, the duo were unable to conceive.
Galatea found some solace with her fellows from the Kingdom of the Isles. Princess Tanaria was her cousin, and the rest were her ‘cousins’ as Islanders defined them. Darrel spent much time in the company of the UJR contingent. Raaneka and the Confederation had long, healthy history, much neglected of late.

Day 3
Darrel certainly didn’t appear dressed for a fight. Short pants, tall boots, a simple beaded vest certainly did not look like armor. Still, he drew a pair of Kukri and slid off his mount. “Be safe. Watch the horses.” He shot his wife a devilish grin, “This will be fun,”

He took a moment to view the surroundings. The deep shade of the trees, the dappled sunlight, the other men and women rushing about. He moved a few paces towards the creature, taking a position in the shade. He whistled and clanged the Kukri together, trying to get the creature’s attention. "Here lizard lizard lizard...." He called.

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT
PRE-EXPIDITION
TUL'SKI

Whistling through the air, the dark figures eyes scanned the resort below him for any sign of danger, guards with curves of wood, that he identified as bows, looked up at him, seeming to be deciding whether or not he was a threat. More than they knew, but less than most people of Telek'kra believed. To be Tul'Ski meant serving Mazara in life and death, guarding her from demons and purging those who would revere Braganis. Tales arose of your powers, vanishing into the night, magical eyes that saw through lies, killing with a thought, and even deathlessness. Bunk and ridiculous nonsense of course. If Mazara had blessed the Mazradin with such power, the Tul'Ski would not hide in the shadows, waiting to strike out at infidels, rather in the hearts of demon nests, such as Trandar, or the Tzaltec servants of Braganis, striking down those who would dare defy Mazara. No, Mazara could not make fighting Braganis so easy. What the Tul'Ski were, was an efficient and dangerous intelligence system. Informants in Telek'kra and surrounding countries insured them that any who may be working against Mazara could be caught and stopped before they knew they were discovered. If you struck down Tul'Ski you were marked for death above all else, and your family and those who conspired with you, for there is no greater way to strike against Mazara than to attack her agents. Where you killed one, soon five would be upon you, and no matter how skilled a swordsman you are, five Tul'Ski is a better death sentence than Mazara's Trial. Other lands had similar institutions, but the Tul'Ski were united, by Mazara and Braganis, and the struggle they must seek to end.

Assica had moved on from her conversation with the green haired Free Knight, and was starting to talk to a man from the Glazfell, a land of snow and ice. This was pleasing. Making friends would be a good policy, and would help to supplement the discussions he had been sent here to have. Rolan had been very clear, that something must be done about the Trandari war. There was something deep under Telek'kra, in the shadows that they could not quite see. A servant of Braganis stirring again. There was no time for this war. And yet, Telk'Hazar Duriduo acted loyally to Mazara, destroying those he thought responsible for the hellfire. Tul'Ski would not stop the faithful of Telek'kra, for a first chosen of Mazara was to be protected above all else, and Telk'Hazar was fervent in his belief. These Free Knights had to be appealed to, made to see reason, and understand the troubles in Telek'kra. Telk would not stop until he had Trandar, so strong was his faith, and he had whipped up a frenzy in Telek'kra that had the whole country ready to hunt down demons. Perhaps true demons would soon be upon them. If Telk could not take Trandar, they would have to ask for it, from first the Sharix, and then the king of Trandar. So, let it begin.

He found a deep blue haired serving man on the ground, and dived in towards him. He would have to make an impressive show on this man if he were to get what he needed. His Mazra pulled his wings back to gather speed, and the hurtled down through the air to reach the man with frightening power. Hopefully the guards wouldn't shoot him. At the last second, wings flapped wide and slowed him into a run, which carried him the last few feet towards the man, who he towered above, mounted as he was.

Tul'Ski: Take me to whoever is in charge here.

He looked down at the man, who stood there dazed.

Tul'Ski: Immediately.

She returned the hug, glad to see her family again. "Taniara! I didn't expect you here." SHe beamed. "Come, lets get some refreshment and I'll tell of all about my travels."

And so she did. She talked about living amongst the Grant family and thier 'cousins' in the city of Pearl, and travelling around the Jewelled Cities. "It is not so different from the Enclave. Mangrove forests and swamps in places. But it also has vast shoals and reefs. And the fish! Every color of the rainbow moving around in vast shoals. The Islanders never opened their lands to commercial fishing. And the people!" She pointed to her elegant islander attire- tall boots and sheer breeches, a short half-skirt draped about the waist, a beaded adn bejeweled vest loosely buttoned over her chest, and countless items of jewelry. "As open and expressive as their clothing. I've made dozens of new cousins." She goes on to explain the concept of close friends referring to themselves as 'cousins'.
As they chatted, is was clear her husband Darrel over-indulged her desire to travel. From the Nighthhawk grove in Tar, to the vertical university of Galomyr, to the Sea of Glass and even the Bloomenwald Isles, they have been everywhere in the Confederation. "The Bloomenwald is a fascinating place, sis. The way the plants have control over the humans. I nearly lost Darrel to an Alraine." SHe laughed, referring to a plant renown to attract male human as pollinators in the most explicit of ways. "I wasn't nearly as affected, but I still needed to clear my head often enough."

But really, I have talked enough. Tell me EVERYTHING going on at home."

Day 1, Arrival

"I find shooting from horseback difficult, but not impossible. I prefer to be grounded, though from a sturdy tree-branch can sometimes work even better, as it gives more elevation and range and makes it less likely for the target to spot you..."

Alfrett grunted in acknowledgement, if not agreement, doing his best to hold his tongue and avoid grinding his teeth. It seemed Nyerik had been jabbering like this for the whole journey here, talking up his hunting accomplishments since coming to the mainland kingdom (game in his homeland was rare). He suspected the younger man was suffering from some sort of inferiority complex: maybe he still hoped to make himself a king, and was trying to build support. Still, even a king had better learn when the audience was simply not interested. Alfrett himself had many more hunting and martial accomplishments to his name than Nyerik, but hardly spoke of them, unless one knew how to read the images on his chest (and few if any in these parts would).

Ameryn made less secret of her annoyance with their Thalmann companion, staying well out of his way as much of the time as possible and rolling her eyes when she happened to overhear him. Not that she was speaking to Alfrett either: she still had not forgiven him for, in her words, trying to sell her to some foreigner like a common slattern after spending so many years stopping any man from coming near her. That the foreigner in question was a childhood friend of hers and she had been keen on the idea until he had turned it down seemed entirely beside the point for some reason, as was the knowledge that this was entirely normal for the daughter of a king. Instead she had spent much of the journey flirting with Rayne Sempronis, who seemed torn between enthusiastic reciprocation and wariness of suffering an "accident" at Alfrett's hands. Since recently it had been a choice between Ameryn and Nyerik, though, he seemed to prefer the former, and Alfretty could hardly blame him. He suspected too that both he and his sister were irritable from the absence of Harmatis and Vekieris, who had been left at the border for fear of offending their hosts, and that doubtless did not improve matters.

All in all it was something of a relief when they finally arrived at the spa to dismount and could be rid of each other's company, if only for a few hours.

Safari - Setting Out

All three gentlemen in the party were keen to attend the safari, while Princess Ameryn was content to relax in the spa and socialise with the other guests. The trio of safari venturers cut strange figures: the dusky, dark-haired Discordian seemed a natural in the saddle, while the youngest of them, the Thalmann prince or whatever his official station was, became quiet and withdrawn in international company and on horseback (a small mercy, thought Alfrett). Alfrett himself, tall and golden, was dressed informally by most northern standards: an open-chested shirt surmounted by a chlamys, leaving his torso largely exposed and revealing a delicate pattern of scars stretching across much of his chest.

Day Three - Hydra Attack!

Nyerik had seemed to regain much of his composure the longer they spent in the forest (where by contrast, Rayne had become more cautious and reserved) but he was left speechless when the hydra came crashing through the trees. Eventually the shouting forced some kind of reaction from him and he wrenched his sword free. Alfrett cringed inwardly as his own horse shied and whinnied, hoping Nyerik did not intend to try to fight the hydra with that alone: he was a fine swordsman, but against a creature of that size and ferocity he might as well be armed with a hatpin.

Rayne, who had managed to control his own steed near-flawlessly, grabbed the bridle of Alfrett's horse and succeeded in calming it at least temporarily. "What I'd give for a lance right now," he muttered.

"What I'd give to have Harmatis right now," Alfrett replied darkly. Rayne looked up at him in grim, knowing agreement.

"Still, we have you, don't we?" He looked back over to the rest of the group, and saw Khyne charge forwards. "Oh Lady preserve us, the fools are going to get themselves killed."

"Go if you must."

Rayne nodded briefly and took off after the Frosten prince, yelling a warcry. Alfrett took the opportunity to dismount.

The Speaker, Minister for Trade, and tanned female Senator all followed Peonia into the large room, whilst the others break away to other, more relaxing pursuits. There was no need for the entire delegation to be present at the negotiations, the Speaker alone would have been enough, but one could not simply bar the Minister for Trade from a meeting which would deeply involve his office. For the Senator there was little explanation given, but it was clear that she was...maybe not suspicious, but alert. Who could tell why.

"Trade, I think, Knight Peonia, and though we thank you for it there was no need for your pledge." Kassem smiled. "You and yours have always dealt with us in good faith." He nodded to Minister Nemya.

"Thank you for being so accommodating to our desire to speak. Now," the Minister reached into his jacket and withdrew a small scroll. "I believe a letter was sent ahead with our suggested exchanges, but we were unsure if it would arrive so I brought a copy of them with me. I hope they meet to your satisfaction, but they are of course open to negotation." He held out the scroll to Peonia.

Safari
Day 3

How will the safari members react?

The UJR party was only half of its delegation, several had stayed behind in the city to finalise the diplomatic agreements they'd come to formalise with the Free Cities. All, however, had taken along crossbows of the latest design, with several carrying some of the new-model hand crossbows that had come out of the military spending increase recently voted through. When their guide warned them that a fight was inevitable, they had all unlimbered the larger crossbows and so they were ready with them when the Hydra shattered its way out of the trees.

"Nisa, you fire with us and then you get the civilians out of here, understood?" Kassem said quietly as they took aim. The Woodwind Senator looked over at him, an objection on her lips, then cut off as she saw the glint in his eye. "Get them under a veil, and back to Fernbrake. We'll keep it busy."

"I.." he turned towards her slightly, and she nodded jerkily before he could say more. "Yes, Speaker. They will not return to the cycle today if my strength can prevent it." The Illuminator leveled her crossbow, aiming above their guide at one of the several necks of the beast.

"First volley for the throats, it doesn't know we have these yet. Then scatter and stay alive, damnit." Kassem growled as he took aim on one of the middle heads. "I don't even want to think about having to deal with more elections this term, got it?" Chuckles greeted the last comment, and he nodded steadily.

"Fire."

Triggers clicked down the line of elected officials, and six dragonscale tipped bolts shot from the crossbows, aimed for the necks of the beast before them. If nothing else, the shrieking howl of the bolts should confuse it. Nisa fell back from the line quickly, barely taking the time to shoulder the valuable crossbow, and her hands were moving swiftly as she reached the civilians near the back of the group.

"I can keep us out of sight of that monster," she called to those around her, as her hands lit with the manifestation of her Art, "but I can't do it forever. Best we get out of here now."

The Safari
Day 3
Attack on Hydra

Finish of First Act! Second Act Begins! (https://youtu.be/QM8O5FwI_bU)

The Safari
Day 3

The reactions of the Sharix can be best summed up in several broad categories: the Prince and the Minister of Defense were both eager looking, the Queen and the Prime Minister were both reluctant, and the Princess and the Minister of Foreign Affairs both looked liked they wanted very much to go home.

DAY 3
SAFARI TIME

Day 3
Darrel certainly didn’t appear dressed for a fight.

Day 3
On Safari
Nymir's attention turned to his cousin-in-law who seemed to be trying to lure the hydra's attention away from the much better armored Free Knight, Nymir paused, undecided in action as his father raced past him towards Darrel,
"DAD" Nymir hissed and raced after him as Uialben neared the shaded spot Darrel called the beast from and pulled a crossbow off of his back.

Safari
Day 3
The UJR party was only half of its delegation, several had stayed behind in the city to finalise the diplomatic agreements they'd come to formalise with the Free Cities.

The first head bites down into the center of the safari group, causing the scatter and division. Already at gallop, Ilex brings her sword around to strike along the center, with the spark of blade to glance off with loud shriek.
The angry hydra makes downward slam, which is only avoided by the skillful horse. Ilex's helmet received this blow and fell to the ground as she grimly avoided between the fourth head's strike.
It was impossible to receive the full attention of the four heads!
However, she passed Khyne, who made his own attack on the first head's neck. It was a deep blow! However a legendary monster can't be defeated so easily!
Ilex turned desperately to receive the attack of the fourth head, to try and defend the prince. She is knocked from her horse as the blow is deflected, momentarily to stop it's attack.
Landing on the ground, she rolled, trying to escape from such a vulnerable position.
The injured fourth head decided it's triumph, but Rayne arrived and cut one of the fangs off with his charging attack! The fourth head screeches angrily as it regards new food!
"Thank you!" Ilex gasps, to recover onto her feet.
Meanwhile, the opposite side is the first head to recover and prepare such a [pincer attack], to catch Khyne, Rayne and Ilex! It is a flanking attack!

The second head seemed to be distracted by the hunting beads of Veras and Assica. To rear up and snap angrily, the spinning Piat'Ton is ignored, leaving a streak of blood where it glances off of the scales of the hydra. However, it seems the injury already stops to bleed soon after!
The violent bite misses, however the wind is disturbed by the fast and large strike, to resemble a flyswatter's near miss.
The second head turns to focus again with angry hiss. If it cannot bite the nimble flier, probably it will try to swat Assica down! However, such an opening is made for Begal!

The third head already seems gleeful of victory, to prepare to lunge at Uialben and Nymir with open mouth. However, the monster pauses, to be annoyed by the clanging noise of Darrel. It looks with the angry face of a disobeyed king, to prepare the death sentence for Darrel!
However the crossbows of the UJR provide the necessary support to stun the head. It hisses angrily and thrashes, such a slam with the large body is as dangerous as bite!
However, there are a few seconds to react as lunge begins!

The innocent civilian tourists scramble backwards with the command of Nisa, however the battle can only be called the [First Act!].
Can the safari members survive the [Second Act]?

I hope battle doesn't become too difficult to understand!
I will try to update [Act 2] and [Act 3] after one day, so please make your posts!

If someone is missed or forgotten, please tell me!

Fernbrake Spa and Resort
Morning

DAY 1
FERNBRAKE SPA AND RESORT

The blue haired serving man looked shocked and very quickly retreated from mazra into the Spa and Resort.
"Lady Melanthia! One of the foreigners just landed a monster in the spa!"
"Again?! Is it the delegation from Telek'kra?" Was the completely exasperated and annoyed reply.
"Yes! I think so!"
"I just explained to them the problem!" Melanthia complained.
The staff shook his head.
"I think they want to speak to the manager?" He nervously explained. Melanthia felt her veins tremble in rage.
"I spoke to them only a minute ago! I don't care anymore! Find Ilex and ask her to meet them! I can't deal with those birdbrains." She said, to strongly grab her sword and violently stomp towards the kitchen.
Such was the fate of summer job for the blue haired student, to run quickly to the Prestigious Heroic Academy of Free Knights of Fernbrake to implore the intercede of Ilex.

After a few minutes it is the entrance of a young woman in uniform style of Free Knight. Her cyan hair is a little messy, probably from to wear a helmet before. However it is a curious expression on her face to regard the landed monster and rider.
"Fair skies as clear after rain!" She called with crisp and melodic accent.
"I am Ilex of Neu. Is something wrong?"

Fernbrake Spa and Resort

The staff of Spa and Resort helped with luggage and to direct to the lobby. Inside the cool stone and beautiful decorated walls of mosaic can be seen. The depictions of monster slaying and something that must be legendary heroic stories. The fragrance of flowers is probably peony and iris.
A young woman with long blue hair and silver and lapis lazuli decorated necklace greeted the delegation with smile and bow. "Fair Skies as clear after rain. I am Peonia of Verbena. You must be tired after such a long journey."

Fernbrake Spa and Resort
Day 1
Before Safari Departure

Gossamer Weave for Tangled Lightning
Fine Crafted Goods for Textiles
Architects for Glass
Ships for Musical Instruments
Spices for Ban-terato

"Thank you." Peonia said, dutifully receiving the scroll.
"As you know, the style of our previous Steward Passiflora of Rubia was the hospitable and open friendly relations with your country. Therefore I am happy to offer the continued development of trade of our nations." She said said. Reading the scroll, it was a small expression of confusion.
"I am sorry. Ships are a very strange offer! There is no way merchants can carry from Kingdom of Celero or from Alzeroth such a good. We don't have coast or sea, and already the design of our riverboat is useful for such a river.
Although I am sure the Sphynks merchants would like to trade their beautiful musical instruments, for the people who live in the desert, it is just cruel joke. Unfortunately it is impossible to make such a trade."
"I also don't understand this. <Fine Crafted Goods> is what kind of goods?" She asked cautiously.
"However, I think that skilled architects are very helpful. We have many refugees from the war in the south, and with economic expansion and Ecbatana's construction, we need more experienced architects before residential cost will become prohibitive. I think it will be easy to make this agreement."
"I also think that Dong-Nam-Dosi merchants will be excited to import spices."
She looked with a little embarrassment.
"I think that Gossamer Weave sounds very interesting for textile industry, I think that merchants in Neu would find such a trade for Tangled Lightning to be difficult. Do you have any examples of Gossamer Weave with you? Lady Ilex of Neu will be the safari guide, but she is from Neu, so she knows about Tangled Lightning and such a merchant. If you would not be impeded, I would like to invite her to attend the meeting. I think that if she can be convinced of such a trade, it is possible!" Peonia made a thinking face.
"Well, she was my squire last year, so it shouldn't be too hard to convince her!"

Day 2

The Meeting
Day 2
"The timing of our declaration is due to political necessity.

Peonia seemed to thoughtfully consider.
"Perhaps we can provide the opportunity for your nations to meet at this Spa and Resort? Such a chance for informal negotiation maybe can help to find a peaceful solution? I think it is the Raaneki expression of skinship is good to improve a relationship. Although that kind of lewd style is not our belief. However, the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities is willing to offer such a mediation for the war, to protect peace."
She smiled politely.
"If the Shirax and Telek'kra can sign the Uran Convention, I think it would be a good example of your earnest desires for peace and also a chance to show difference from Tzaltec Empire."

TUL'SKI

The man with the blue hair had been flustered. This was good, it would mean someone in a position of power would soon be here. The Tul'Ski looked about the place, his training forcing him to scan for threats and take in every detail of the place. He had chipped the floor lightly where he had landed so hard, and the tiny mosaic pieces of blue stone were scattered along the ground behind him. Someone approached. He identified her as Ilex of Neu, who was leading this Safari. Her greeting confirmed his thoughts.

Tul'Ski: Entaro'Tazingar Free Knight Ilex, Landwalker of the Free Cities, First of the Guard of the Marsh.

He felt it would not hurt to overdo her title a little, since a mixture of flattery and forcefulness was the best way to achieve his goals.

Tul'Ski: I am here to discuss political matters between Mazara and your people, and I would formally request that you take me to the leader of this place. It is a matter of some urgency, and could well be the cause of some strife to both of our lands if it is not prepared for

However, the monster pauses, to be annoyed by the clanging noise of Darrel. It looks with the angry face of a disobeyed king, to prepare the death sentence for Darrel!

Darrel spared a brief moment of concentration mentally check his connection to the Mother. As a chosen, he could feel her call from the shadows that surrounded him. He was certain of her presence. He continued his whistling and noise making, trying to get the creature to focus on him. The instant it moved to strike, he would simply, instantly, shadow-walk out of reach.

"Come on, ugly! Over here."

If you would not be impeded, I would like to invite her to attend the meeting. I think that if she can be convinced of such a trade, it is possible!" Peonia made a thinking face.
"Well, she was my squire last year, so it shouldn't be too hard to convince her!"

"Ah, you have my apologies." The Minister's face coloured slightly at the gently rebuke. "It was our error. We have other resources that might interest the Sphynks perhaps. Saffron, Ginger, or if the desert is as hard to bring growing things into as most are, perhaps we could offer food. It seems almost unfair to offer what to us is so little, but we are blessed with their abundance. Fish, grain, perhaps even elephants - they are hardier than many believe."

"The goods of Hrathan-Tour are among the finest in all Telluris. Pottery crafted from the local clay makes up the majority, but worked leather and fine clothing is also produced by the Guilds of the region. Many Senators have their clothes and other small items crafted by the Guilds." He seemed to consider the question of Gossamer for a moment, then nodded. "Of course, we would be happy to show you the work of the Weavers of Nyroth. And Lady Ilex would be most welcome."

He takes a small box from a piece of luggage that he kept with him, opens it, and carefully lifts a small bolt of what appears to be woven silver out of it. Laying it on the table, he waits for Lady Ilex to arrive so that he can explain the incredible fabric.

The Safari
Day 3
Hydra Attack

Finish of First Act! Second Act Begins! (https://youtu.be/QM8O5FwI_bU)

The UJR hunters begin to reload, doing their best to avoid the front of the melee, and the possibility of panic as their bolts do little more than stun the head of the beast.

"Focus this time, all on the third head. We need dead-on shots, not glancing." The Speaker barks, winding back the string on his crossbow. Those around him give a chorus of agreement. "When it lunges it'll stop moving, just stay clear and take your shots then!" He pulls the crossbow back up, slotting a new bolt into place from the quiver on his belt. "If it gets stunned on the ground, use your handbows to keep it down. It's our only real chance to take one of them off."

"Manaroth, if that happens -"

"I'll be ready, Kassem." The huge orc grins, patting the massive hunting knife at his side. "Just get it down where I can get it."

"All right, when it lunges..."

If anyone looks back at the civilians, they find them vanished, Nisa's Illumination having taken hold. The Senator points down one of the paths, recognising it as one that they'd walked on the way from from Fernbrake.

"That way, it'll get us back to the city!" She calls, directing the non-combatants away from the fight towards safety.

Day 2

"We have no objection to signing, and no objection to meeting them here, but as much as I desire a peaceful solution I doubt there is one available."

"What about the rest of you? You have all been respectfully silent so far, but this is a matter of life and death for my people, and I would rather not watch that if it could have been prevented by some impoliteness."

OOC
Given that the round is ending soon, and that I'd rather have the declaration up this round (since the current Prime Minister won't be Prime Minister next round, and will have been replaced by nationalists who won't give a flying damn about any of this), perhaps we should try to speed up that part (the talks with Telek'kra) with some OOC talk rather than IC talk that could potentially take too long.

Taniara listened in rapt fascination as Gatalea described her travels across the Seaborne Confederation, dazzled by her Islander clothes and exotic locales, giggling at their adventures on Bloomenwald.

"Crother won the contest for the Regent of Sanglea," Taniara blurted out, still unable to quite believe it herself.

"Rumour is Auntie has put the word out she is looking for a suitable consort for him," She leaned in close,

"A male consort," she whispered, full of juicy gossip about their older brother,

"And Maevys's Governess swears saw him turn into a wolf!" She shook her head, her brother had always been a mystery but even more so since he returned from the An Naduri.

The Safari

Attack on Hydra

The third head already seems gleeful of victory, to prepare to lunge at Uialben and Nymir with open mouth. However, the monster pauses, to be annoyed by the clanging noise of Darrel. It looks with the angry face of a disobeyed king, to prepare the death sentence for Darrel!

However, there are a few seconds to react as lunge begins!

King Uialben wasted no time in firing his shot while Darrel distracted the hydra before diving behind a small tree to avoid the beast's flails. Nymir, still holding his sword in his hand, backed away from the monster's immediate vicinity, torn between the instinct to preserve his own life and helping Darrel.

Alfrett smiled at the young woman, with what seemed like genuine warmth. "Less so than you might think, I suspect, but your welcome is appreciated all the same, Lady Peonia." He glanced around the room at the images on display.

Rayne moved to shield Ilex from the recovering hydra head, but his horse had other ideas. Whether spooked by the shriek of the crossbows from behind them or the proximity to the monster, it stalled momentarily, treading the ground nervously - long enough for the head to strike and seize the Discordian in its jaws, wrenching him from the saddle.

From the Journal of Prince Khyne II,
Day 3 of his stay in Fernbrake,
on an encounter with the local wildlife, part 2

...Predictably perhaps to anyone who is at the liberty of reading this after the fact and was not making absurd split-second decisions, my charge did not go entirely as planned. Though I did manage to make it to my target, even to successfully strike it, the blade I was using was for hacking through flesh, usually with multiple swings, and was less than ideal for a mounted charge. It bit deeply into the monster's serpentine neck, but it did not cleave fully through, and the weapon became lodged in the torn tissue as Anoma continued to carry me forward, ripping the weapon from my hands!

Out of the corner of my eye I spotted another head rushing in my general direction, but to my great fortune the Free Knight Ilex had managed to place herself in its way just in time even as I pulled back on Anoma's reins, while another mounted fellow I didn't know as well managed to keep it from following through on its blow. Ilex was unhorsed, but I didn't have the time to stoop down to help her up: While they tag-teamed it I heard the first head, the one I'd already struck, writhing behind me. I briefly saw Keito leaping at the beast's throat, claws extended to strike, but I couldn't focus on that.

Quickly I turned around, and saw that it had already gathered its strength for a renewed assault! I don't even know why, but in this moment I was struck by a foolhardy bravery. I faced the creature and quickly drew forth the blade at my hip, leveling it at the creature's skull even as it continued to rush towards me.

This blade was the one I had brought from home, though it was not forged in Glazfell. Indeed, it was taken as a prize of the Sunset War, a trophy from my father's victory in Sahra'a against the Guilderene General Ficcio. Though it had been wielded by a Guilderene in battle, it was nevertheless not of Guilderene make, but Dwarven. This weapon, though sized as an arming sword in my hands, was a Claymore forged of the finest Mithril somewhere in the great Razdissi Smithies, and I could feel the superb craftsmanship that went into it. This blade was impossibly sharp, and light as a feather. It was not made for crude hacking, nor for slicing from horseback, though it could do those things a little less well than the swords made for them. But this blade, this blade held no curve, and that gave it a special power that no curved sword could master.

I looked upon the head of the beast rushing toward me, and saw that something had already struck it between the eyes, not doing serious damage but cracking the scales, weakening its defenses. Good. I took a deep breath, braced myself against Anoma as I leaned in, and took the mithril blade in both hands. And as the writhing mass of monster meat opened its jaws for the bite, I muttered a prayer to our Frozen Lady, and with all of my strength I thrust my weapon at the chink in its armour, at the space between its eyes.

PRE-EXPIDITION

Ilex politely bowed, the curiosity expression on her face.
"First, I would like to inform you that it is against the laws of Fernbrake to fly above the city. It is a safety hazard. The dangerous Fernbrake swamp requires the city guards to defend against any such a threat. Because we do not fly, it can only be assumed the flying monster is an enemy attack. Therefore it may cause panic for the citizens, stress for the guards, and the unfortunate international incident of to shoot down a guest."
"As a Free Knight, I can act as government official to decisively solve a problem for international guests. However, if it is political negotiation, probably it is better to ask Lady Peonia of Verbena for such a meeting. As a Free Knight representative for the council, probably her authority is necessary. I can show you to a private room if you would like to discuss. Probably such a negotiation should happen in outside spa." She looked at the broken tile with grimace expression.
"However, I would like to seriously request to refrain from the property damage of facilities."

If such a meeting is desired, Ilex will lead Tul'ski to a private room inside of the Resort to meet with Peonia of Verbena.
It is a few minutes before the arrival.
"I would like to introduce Lady Peonia of Verbena." Ilex said, to properly announce the arrival. Peonia smiled warmly.
"Thank you, Ilex. Fair skies as clear after rain. Ilex said you wanted to talk with me."

He takes a small box from a piece of luggage that he kept with him, opens it, and carefully lifts a small bolt of what appears to be woven silver out of it. Laying it on the table, he waits for Lady Ilex to arrive so that he can explain the incredible fabric.

Peonia smiled and affirmed. "I think Sphynks would like food. Of course the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities is famous for our grain and agriculture. The UJR helped us to improve production. Therefore, I expect Fish is probably greatly desired, to be a food necessary for ocean or sea. For a desert people, it is two birds one stone situation."
"Your pottery and fine clothing sounds interesting. I think that trade agreement can be possible! Perhaps I do not understand everything, however it is better to let a skillful merchant decide how to trade." She warmly laughed and stood up.
"I will bring Ilex. Please comfortably wait."

After a few minutes Peonia returned with a young woman in uniform style of Free Knight. Her cyan hair dances seems messy. Probably recently she was wearing a helmet.
"I am Ilex of Neu." She made self introduction with crisp and melodic accent. With a proper bow and curious expression, she looked at Peonia and then at UJR delegation. For UJR delegation members who examined mosaic tiles earlier, probably the appearance of Ilex is to resemble strongly the Steward named Commelina.
"It is said that a trade of Tangled Lightning was desired for Gossamer. I want to say that I am not a merchant. However, to gather lightning is the skill of my hometown. It was a skill trained to protect from lightning and only has been used as a weapon. Because lightning is very dangerous, we value it very much. It is difficult to compare something of worth."
Peonia smiled and interrupted.
"Of course. Therefore I want your opinion, Ilex. If the minister would like to explain." She politely asked.

Alfrett smiled at the young woman, with what seemed like genuine warmth. "Less so than you might think, I suspect, but your welcome is appreciated all the same, Lady Peonia." He glanced around the room at the images on display.

The mosaics of display show many different stories. If the history is known, the monster battles and hunts of Fernbrake can be seen. The 30 years of war with Zuiguo are captured with some murals of heroic free knights and defense. For short lives of these people, the stories are memories in stone.

Peonia bowed politely. "We would like to extend the hospitality of the city and of course the Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities for your delegation. I have a room in this resort prepared. If you would like any assistance about Spa and Resort, please ask for Lady Melanthia of Rubia. Ilex of Neu will lead the Safari. Is there something I can do for you?" She asked with curious expression.
"If you have a question about the decoration, I can explain!"

We've been making attempts for a while. So far though, all attempts have been stymied by the fact the Telek'kra are religious fanatics who believe they are in the right. They won't accept any option that doesn't involve doing to the Trandar what the Tzaltec Empire is trying to do the Sharixian Republic. They also won't accept "you will lose" as a reason, either, as their leader refuses to accept reality.

Keito: Leaping at Head 4, trying to free Rayne.
Ilex: With Khyne and Rayne. Unhorsed, lightly injured? Flanked by heads 1 and 4.
Rayne: With Khyne and Ilex. Uninjured. Grabbed by head 4.

Assica: Uninjured. Engaging head 2
Begal: Uninjured. Flanking head 2

UJR hunters: Uninjured. Firing Crossbows at head 3 from safety
UJR illuminator: Uninjured. Covering UJR misc and Sharix.
UJR misc and Sharix: Uninjured. Fleeing.

Darrel: Uninjured. Engaging head 3.
Uialben: Uninjured. Engaging head 3.
Nymir: Uninjured. Engaging head 3.

Alfrett: Uninjured, Unengaged.
Nyerik: Uninjured, Unengaged.

The first head has recovered from the blow of Khyne, and charges to finish off the prince! However, Khyne draws his mithril sword and stabs between the eyes of the hydra!
The speed of the blow impales such a sword in the hydra's face, however Khyne's grip is lost as he is knocked over and bruised by the hydra's blow!
The first hydra head shrieks with painful feelings of revenge. However, the sword already is the mortal blow. The first head falls down and thrashes the death spasm with blows surrounding Khyne!

The second head turns from the distraction of the Telek'kra when it's sibling head is killed. It strikes down to try to finish off Khyne! Can the Telek'kra use such an opportunity to recover or attack?

The third head lunges forward, jaws prepared to send Darrel to underworld! However, just as the bite is to close around, he disappears into shadow, to reappear several meters away. It happens again, and then third time! Can Darrel continue much longer such an evasion distraction?
The monster shrieks with anger and confusion, to be denied it's meal. It turns to sense Darrel's reappearance location. Suddenly King Uialben's shot hits the beast's eye, and it thrashes in pain, destroying the shielding tree for the king. Such a heavy blow knocks the King to the ground and the hydra's head turns to glare with other eye at new meal!

However, at same moment Kassem and UJR delegation fire volley into exposed neck. The head shudders and it's last bite at King Uialben is deflected by Nymir. The tail whips strongly to hit the UJR delegation, however it is only death thrashing! The third head shudders and collapses!

Ilex desperately tries to call out warning to Rayne.
"Look out!"
However, it is too late when fourth head strikes and bites Rayne from his horse!
Lifting to the air, it tries to swallow lunch, however the exposed neck is attacked by trusty companion of Khyne named Keito, and Rayne manages to dodge the fangs. The hydra thrashes, to try and knock away this rude interruption, however Keito's dogged attack is continued.

Ilex scrambles to stand. With only decisive action possible, she runs and jumps onto the back of the hydra. With a cry, she stabs her sword completely into spine. The hydra's mouth opens as it shrieks with pain, and Rayne falls out to the ground with hard motion! Ilex shudders and with full strength tries to pulls her sword out.
The fourth head with vicious thrash finally dislodges Keito, who safely lands on feet!
Of course it is this time second head turns!

The first and third head have been defeated by the safari members! However, the situation is desperate, and two heads are very vengeful! Fighting for lives, even if [Second Act] could be survived, will everyone live until finish of [Third Act]?

Sorry it is confusing battle! I hope it is enjoyed!
Such a summary by BladeofObliviom seems correct. I am relieved it could be understood!

"Of course." Asur unfolded a small sheet of the silver fiber and held it up, almost reverently. "This is fabric spun by the Great Weaver of Nyroth, blessed by faith in a way that we do not yet understand, however the effects of the blessing have been known for many years now. Gossamer is...special, Lady Ilex. It is believed by many of our scientists that it is capable of absorbing, perhaps even functioning to transfer, the ambient energy that exists all around us. That property, in fact, is part of why we seek a trade of Tangled Lightning, for there are few resources of such power and it is the belief of our Mtambuzi that only with such a source will we be able to unlock the true capabilities of this Weave." He laid the sheet down on the table.

"Gossamer is already used by our fastest ships, sails of it capable of catching even the slightest breeze in ways no other fabric known to us can. Although that in itself might not be of use to you, if our suspicious are correct it might be capable of aiding your people in the gathering of Tangled Lightning itself. I could not promise such a thing, but from what we have learned of the process, it is certainly a possibility. I would hope that such qualities might be enough to see a trade confirmed between our peoples."

So I've edited in the new trades to my action post as of now. They stand at present as follows:

Gossamer Weave from Nyroth for Tangled Lightning from Land of Free Knights
Fine Crafted Goods from Hrathan-Tuor for Textiles from Bastet
Architects from Woodwind for Glass from Bastet
Fish from Genivana for Musical Instruments from Bastet
Spices from Qarimos for Ban-terato from Dong Nam Dosi

I hope this meets your desires well, and that agreement can be reached with this post! Even if it is not quite enough, I would hope that you could trust that agreement can be reached and would be kind enough to action the trade. It would be a true kindness

The UJR hunters dive away from the sweep of the Hydra's tail, or more correctly, all but one of them do. The former Chancellor Hammer however had seen the move coming, and as his compatriots scatter he tosses his crossbow aside and draws his hunting knife. Such a weapon is closer to the size of a sword for most humans, but to the great Grizzland orc, it is a fitting size for a knife. As the tail slams down, he steps to the side, and as it stops for a moment on the ground he drives the implement through the creature's tail and then into the ground below.

The rest of the party scramble to their feet, a few starting to reload, but the others lay their crossbows aside and unhook smaller weapons from belts. Single hand versions of the larger Shrieking Crossbows, what they lose in hitting power they make up for how easy it is to carry one. Smaller bolts shriek from their homes, two, three, seven in total - three of the Hunters having brought two of the hand crossbows with them, just in case. They won't have time to reload again, but hopefully they won't need to. With the fourth head mostly contained, every bolt fired is aimed at the second, hopefully enough to prevent the beast from harming their heroic Free Knight guide!

Safari
Day Three

Alfrett watched in dismay as the party members struggled against the hydra. Initially he had been happy to leave them to display their valour but it seemed there was an increasingly serious chance that one of them would be killed by the beast. It was time to end this. His body was a testament to his combat proficiency: he had won dozens of single combats, hunted some of the greatest of game and brought it down, even subdued the great vefnaub spinne Gary of Fera, and all without really unleashing all his potential.

He shrugged off his shirt even as his shoulders began to bunch, his arms stretching and fingers lengthening, curling into talons, the skin hardening and darkening, red scales appearing over his golden flesh. Wings and tail erupted from his back as the remainder of his clothes and his sword fell away, and the revealed dragon hurled himself forward at the hydra, seeking to tear its remaining heads from its necks.

Rayne, badly hurt though whether from the fall or from the hydra's bite he was not sure, tried to crawl away, while Nyerik watched in astonishment, sword still clutched in his hand.

Day 3
On Safari

King Uialben's relief as the hydra head that menaced him fell was short-lived as the beast continued it's assault on the safari goers. He spotted Nymir in the chaos, narrowly avoiding a galloping horse that had gotten away from it's master, still holding the sharp but mostly useless sword he had pulled what must only be minutes, but what felt like eons before. The old Spriggan staggered to his feet and notched another shot in his cross bow, walking in a wide arc around the Hydra to get a clear view of one of the remaining heads. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Nymir's mouth drop but his son wasn't looking at the Hydra, the King whirled to see Alfrett changing into his dragon form and stared, momentarily surprised into immobility before catching up to Nymir and pulling him out of the way of the two great beasts as they sized each other up for battle.

Ilex frowned at such a description.
"I don't think it will help to gather Tangled Lightning." She flatly said.
"If it is to absorb ambient energy, isn't that a trouble? What about one's spirit or one's sword's spirit? It seems dangerous to use something you admit you do not understand." Such a blunt style can be said to be the Neu dreary type of always rainy weather.
"I think it could be very useful! We must think about hope and positive thoughts!" Peonia interrupted. Peonia picked up the silk and rubbed it against Ilex's hand.
"See? It is very soft! It is more soft than fibrous flame. And it is cool instead of warm! Can you imagine a beautiful silver dress in this way? Especially in summertime it would be very comfortable." Peonia said. Ilex frowned.
"It is very soft. However, we have fibrous flame and the Sphynks textiles are soft and beautiful, too. Even if it was made a dress from this, it would be too plain." A rainy remark of Ilex. Peonia shook her head.
"Well, to compare as a dress, maybe." Peonia's face brightened with mischievous look like a sphynks. She dragged Ilex to a private corner to whisper.
"How about clothing like lingerie? I think that it would be very desirable!" She isn't showing a guilty expression to ask such a question.
"That is lewd!" Ilex protested with a red face, to look with horror at Peonia.
"However, Ilex didn't disagree!" Peonia said with cat expression. The UJR members probably are Raaneki, is her thought. Therefore probably they will not be upset.
"I think it would be very popular." Ilex sullenly conceded.
"However, to trade lightning for underwear! I fear for our country! If it is a holy material, they would be very upset to learn such an idea! I can't allow it!" Ilex sullenly complained. Peonia laughed and patted her head.
"It isn't only for underwear. It is for many goods that will increase prosperity of our people. Also it will keep the Sphynks in check. As a free knight, we should be willing to make such a sacrifice!"
"..." Ilex maintained a sullen expression.
"Furthermore, if it is holy, they would not trade it. You have never heard of us trading our swords to foreigners." Peonia's optimistic voice.
"But you want to trade tangled lightning to them!" Ilex glared.
"I think that is more like a curse than a holy blessing." Peonia whispered. Ilex shook her head.
"Leave me out of this. You're a council representative, aren't you? Take responsibility yourself! I must prepare for safari. Excuse me."
"Don't worry!" Peonia assured the UJR delegation as Ilex fled.
"I am sure she is eager for it, too. I will approve the trade of Gossamer Weave for Tangled Lightning."

Thank you! Sorry the round became finished!
I wrote such a trade in post. All of such a trade is ok!

Day One

"I suspect my sister Princess Ameryn would welcome being shown the spa facilities," he said with a smile, "though I am more interested in the safari. I have hunted a great deal in the past - do you have many problems with monsters in these parts?"

Peonia nodded. "Of course, one of the staff will show you to your room and properly give the tour." She said to Princess Ameryn and bowed.
She made a nostalgic expression before to smile regarding Alfrett.
"We live at the edge of the world. Or at least from your perspective, I think. It is not incorrect. In such a thought about perspective, our cities were independent, to live on such a wilderness and border of the Zuiguo Empire. With the blessing of the goddess of rain and the goddess of fire and fertility, we have abundant lands. Of course, that means our land is filled with deities, too. naturally there are unfavorable and jealous deities, too." She paused to show a mosaic of heroes fighting a hydra.
"To be honest, originally the heroes called "free knights" traveled here and there to slay monsters and protect the people. To stand on the line of mediation between spirits, monsters, and humans. Such a style of heroic individuals without serving one lord or city however to serve everyone, we are such a "Free Knight." Probably originally we could be called [adventurers] or [heroes]. However, the individual city states rewarded the heroes who protected them selflessly, so we gained such a romantic identity, too."
She pointed at the murals of the war of Zuiguo. "It was the thirty years of war that changed us, however. Four generations ago, the few heroic free knights joined together to slay the largest monster. Although many died, we successfully defeated the Zuiguo. However, like you may understand, my lord. It is impossible to slay all monsters. Fernbrake is that place. It is wild, it is dangerous. But monsters must be respected and honored for their strength and courage to follow their life. They are powerful spirits, too." She stopped.
"There aren't many Free Knights left. It is a peaceful time now. The cities are stronger with their unity, and because it is my country I am happy. However, it means that our ability to handle some situations has become embarrassing. The misty swamps of Fernbrake always is not a place for humans. Because it is the home of the monsters and spirits, it will always have the conflict of disagreement." She regarded Alfrett with earnest expression.
"I think that is the proper way. Even if monsters are dangerous, we will always confront them. It is the chivalric way."
She laughed politely to reduce the serious conversation.
"However, of course there are many animals to hunt, too. However, Ilex of Neu will be able to explain during Safari."

The former chancellor Hammer avoids the hydra's tail attacks and uses hunting knife to drive the tail into the ground! However, it can be said it is only a momentary containment. The battle is hydra vs orc, but his strength maintains the wrestled maneuver.

The second head snaps angrily as the bolts from UJR delegation harass with the wounds from skirmish of Telek'kra members.
Ilex uses this moment to scramble up the neck of the fourth head.
With a cry, she stabs her sword between the eyes! The head shudders it's death dance and falls to the ground. Ilex, Rayne, and Khyne are vulnerable as the second head recovers from UJR's volley.

However, even as the hydra regards at prey with vengeful glare, it cannot be ignored the new challenger of red and gold. For a battle of monster kings, it must acknowledge the opponent. The most powerful serpent must be decided if it is hydra or dragon!

With loud shriek, the final hydra head charges at same time as dragon named Alfrett hurled himself forward at the hydra. Together the collision slams into the ground with thrashing and danger.

Ilex for the moment runs to Rayne to help him escape from angry monsters. Keito helps Khyne in a similar way. Running towards other delegation, it can't be helped but to watch the royal battle.

Probably a hydra and dragon are a dangerous match. However, a one head hydra can only be called a snake. Of course a snake cannot be compared to a dragon! So the terrifying roar of a dragon is witnessed in Fernbrake as the hydra is defeated!

Day 3
After Safari

"I don't believe it! A four head hydra! It must be the old king." Melanthia said while bandaging wounds of Rayne.
A group of hospitalers are assisting the injured safari members. For them, a vacation is shortened by duty. However, the story already has become famous gossip by everyone. Such a crowd of staff and guests already could become annoying, but there is respectful distance of most people.
A fibrous flame coat was given to Alfrett.
Ilex is watching with a solemn expression. Even to bashfully ignore Peonia's congratulations except to wince when congratulated with slap on back.
"It is a very impressive accomplishment! Let's call it the [Serpent Subjugation Safari] in honor of the accomplishment!" Peonia announces to the safari group. The inauspicious name is probably related to the wince of Ilex. Or maybe it is injuries from safari?

"Everyone survived, too! It is a happy ending, isn't it?" Peonia continued. "We will have a celebration tonight!"
Probably most safari members want to rest, however. Fortunately, there is no better place than world class spa and resort facilities!

Day 3
Evening Party

Scales and fangs from the hydra are presented as souvenirs to the safari members.
"We will burn the body for proper rites and to prevent other monsters from to come." Ilex explained when asked.
Standing at the dinner celebration, it is nervously given a speech. The young free knight looks earnestly in firelight at the honored guests.
"Although it was not as planned, I think that the experience will be forever remembered together. It is rare in our country, however maybe it is rare internationally too, to see so many different people to work together. It was my honor to fight together with you. Although we cannot send everything with you, I would like to send my friendship. Therefore these treasures will remain with memories with you. Thank you very much for your assistance." She says to the safari group.
Then she made a rare smile.
"I hope you can come visit again, soon."

Wonderful food and music is only the beginning of the party, as most people in the city make celebration like a parade in the streets through the evening.

Thank you everyone to participate in [Serpent Subjugation Safari Event!]
If it is desired, please freely roleplay Epilogue together.
However, because round became ended, unfortunately probably there isn't so much time before another event is made.
Even though my inadequate skill was troublesome for everyone, I very much enjoyed to play together!
Thanks to everyone's assistance, Ilex survived to help defeat hydra! Therefore she will become new Steward of Chivalric Republic of the United Free Cities!
Thank you very much!:smallsmile::smallsmile::smallsmile:

If you have opinion or comment about event, please tell me your thoughts!
