Who has played it, who liked it, and who knows how to install it on a Windows XP?

You need to scour the net for an XP compatibility patch. It's not terribly well advertised, though a concerted effort on Google will land you results.

Of course

We can't have you reduced to playing MW4 now, can we?

Ahhhh, MW4 was ok. I played it loads, especially online. If I could ever find a copy of MW 3 though, I'd play it like a shot. (and get my hands on the XP patch :) )

Well, for one, the controls are INSANELY easier to get. Two, the graphics aren't half-bad. Three, the campaign, while short, offers near limit-less replayability...ok, slight exagerration on that last bit. YOU WOULD FREAKING LOVE IT.

If you like MW4, check out MekTek at http://mektek.net/joomla/index.php. Good stuff.

Mech3 was my second favourite of the mechwarrior fps seies. You have a great campaign and storyline but the limit on which mechs you take, what equipment was a letdown. Later mission become a assault class slugfest but the early missions were the best. My favourite was when you get your first lancemate in the middle of a mission and your two medium mechs have to take on a heavy Orion mech. Most frustration as it has loads of missiles that all loc on and end up killing you really quickly, plus you can never aim while taking hits from him!

My feelings for MW4 can be pretty much summed up with...

"WHY DON'T THE ARMS MOVE?!!"

I'm glad I got the demo off a CD. I'd have cried if I'd downloaded it.
