Quick question: If a very big creature (for example a colossal sized dragon) is adjacent to a creature that has cast AMF, how is it affected? Onbiously the AMF extends out 10 ft from the caster, but that doesn't affect the entire dragon. Can the dragon still cast spells? Can it still use its breath attack?

You can still cast spells and use supernatural abilities in an antimagic field, it's just that the effects are suppressed in an AMF. So you can still cast spells and use breath weapons if you're partially in the field, but the parts of you in the field are not affected.

this makes no sense. Are you saying that even if a creature is completely within an AMF, it can cast a spell that targets someone outside of an AMF? That can't be right.

An antimagic field suppresses any spell or magical effect used within, brought into, or cast into the area, but does not dispel it.

If you're completely within an AMF, you can't cast out of it, as the spell's effects are suppressed the instant you cast it. So if you cast magic missile from inside an AMF, it is suppressed. But if you cast mage armor, you don't get the benefits while inside the AMF, but if you walk out of the AMF, it comes back online.

So if you have a ladder that lets you reach your hands right above the AMF you can point your finger at someone and cast magic missile at them even though 90% of your body is in the AMF? :smallconfused:

Technically, yes, although your DM may veto that.

That's a silly question: You don't really have hands. Every medium creature is, essentially, a 5x5 cube and you fit somewhere on a grid of 5x5 squares (because 3 dimensional grids are hard to deal with). The square you're in is either in the radius of an anti-magic sphere or it is not. You cast from the square you're in, and not from any squares you threaten.

Clearly, this means that WoTC gets to sue Notch for making Minecraft, and ripping them off.

So if even one square falls outside the AMF, you can cast from that square. That's basically the rule?
