Web Shelter. (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/w/web-shelter)

How much weight can the created structure support? Could a character stand on top of it? It's made from a custom material with no described statistics other than thickness, hardness, and HP, so I don't think there's any way to calculate its load limit. By RAW that means that it has no weight limit and that we could set the Tarrasque on top and the roof wouldn't even bulge inward, but that's terribly silly. What would a reasonable estimate be?

My ruling would be 'not enough to support whatever you are trying to do with it'.

It's basically webbing thick enough in a hemisphere to be self-supporting, however considering the hit points is only 2hp/square and 0 hardness, a regular commoner can literally put his hand through it, so I wouldn't expect it to support any significant amount of weight.

Definitely no sturdier than a tent, and likely less so.

It looks to have similar stats to rope. It's also water tight, so shouldn't collapse when submerged. I'd treat it like a portable bridge when sealed up. It would probably deflate under modest weight when left open.

PORTABLE BRIDGE
Price 200 gp; Weight 60 lbs.
When staked down with eight pitons (four on each side of the gap), this rope and slat bridge can support up to 1,500 pounds and span a 30-foot gap. It rolls up into a parcel that can be carried slung over the back or by a pack animal. Convincing an animal to cross a portable bridge requires the come or heel trick.

Web Shelter: "Its surface has a hardness of 0 and 2 hit points for every 5-foot square of web surface area."

Rope: Has the same stats for a "1 in. diameter" rope.

So, the web has 2HP per 5 foot square, while a single rope has 2hp with 1 inch of diameter. You would need 60 1 in thick ropes to fill a five foot square. The HP total of a 5 foot square of rope would be 120 HP.

The web has 2 HP per 5 foot square.

So I don't think that the shelter can hold anything on top of it. It nearly has the HP of a piece of paper.

you don't need to fill a square with rope to make a bridge. Hell a net can hold someone still and it would have slightly less HP than a web shelter. Paper has 1 HP per 10x10 section according to http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/environment.html, I don't think that's as good an analogue.

Measured in paper from http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/damaging-objects, it has the same HP as a book with apprx. 700-1000 pages. I think you could walk across a giant inflated phone book just fine.

Agreed. Anywhere between tent and "tent made of rope".

No, you don't need to fill a square with rope to make a bridge - this is true. But a web shelter has 2hp spread out between an entire 5 foot square. So the analogy stands.

Also, if piece of paper has 1 hp spread out between an 10X10 square then if it was folded into a 5X5 square it would have 4hp per 5 foot square. So, you could say that a single square of web shelter should be half as sturdy as 4 sheets of paper.

Regardless, I don't have an answer for the net though. We'd need to start getting into physics and D&D breaks down when you start doing that - Bad enough, I already am. lol.

... I'ma start a new thread. lol.

I think we've already run into problems with a folded piece of paper having the same HP as an inch think stack of papers.
