I remember Haley once saying she was "chaotic good. Ish." Can anyone tell me what comic it was? I can't find it. :smallfrown:

If I recall correctly, it was this one:

Not that it's any help without the translation.

Yeah, it is kinda hard to recognize it when it's in crypto-speak, but that is quite definitely what she says.

Personally, I'd classify her as Chaotic Greedy with Good tendencies(especially when Elan is involved).

Which was a real shock to me--I always thought she was Chaotic Neutral.

She said she's Chaotic Good-ish. Could mean she was exaggerating and she really is Chaotic Neutral.

Well, she was good at least when she activated the sigil, I think.

And, I think she is Chaotic Good.

I"m pretty sure she is CG, just on the line of CN. We have yet to see her comit a really evil act, becasue i think she changed to CG from CN after the first story arch

We'll find out when she has to choose between financial gain and helping somebody. Such as, perhaps, Roy. :)

She did that once. She went out and saved the dirt farmers even if it wasn't getting her any money. She's a good person in a very desperate situation, and what they do and what they WANT to do become different.

You sure about that? I can't think of anything that would cause an alignment change. If anything I would say that she started out neutral, but Elan's influence changed her alignment to good.

Of course the counter-evidence to this is that she needed to be a pure soul in order to activate the glyph.

Sure Haley is greedy, but she doesn't take away from those that actually need the money and I think she has a good heart over all. I think it is just that the Roy-centered quests don't give her allot of room to show it.

Besides, Haley isn't money-centered just to satisfy her greed. She's also doing it to help out her dad. She just doesn't want other people to know that.

I'd say shes more like Chaotic Good, but tries to pretend shes chaotic neutral, by pretending to be obsessed with the treasure, so the others don't know shes just trying to save her father.

You know, helping family members doesn't make you Good.

No but risking your life to help dirt famers without wanting a reward is.

Besides it certainly doesn't make you not good.

Actually...
in On the Origin of PCs, there is a little quip at how she actually is massively greedy, although she still wants to help her father.
"I promise, I am going to save your life or die trying, Daddy. I think, in the end, you'll find that a 10% cut of your future income in perpetuity is a small price to pay."
Of course, you said she isn't doing it just to satisfy her greed, so yeah, pretty accurate.

She's greedy, but she's also helping her dad.

Also, she isn't dishonest. Remember the trick with the rocks when they were dividing up dungeon loot? Yeah, that was deceptive, but could just as easily have just stolen money from her party members. We've never seen her steal. When she exploited Miko to pay for their inn stay, she used legitimate reasons.

She's crafty and greedy, but has never done anything truly wrong for her own gain, and she's never been greedy at the (non-monetary) expense of others.

Her Rogue-ness and trickery puts her squarely into "Chaotic," I think. Given greed as a prominent character trait, she is as "Good" as she conceivably can be, I think. What could she do that would make her more Good without her not being greedy? And we already know that her greed is not entirely greed motivated.

Yeah- and after all, she isn't a 'thief'. She prefers the term, 'Freelance Wealth Redistribution Specialist'.:smallwink:

Don't you know? Greed is good.

I think that, on the whole, Haley is Chaotic Good. Her greed is a character flaw. The "good-ish" line was a reflection of her inner doubts and possibly a reference to that secret she never got to confess to Elan at dinner.

Dun-dun-DUN!!!

I'd say CG with some CN tendencies, such as the time she was momentarily tempted to go along with Belkar's idea (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0171.html) of selling Samantha into slavery.

That was probably more because she was still steamed at the image of Samantha and Elan in their skivvies, so her jealousy overrode her Good side temporarily. Jealousy can do many such things...

Well, maybe not. But she's a woman, and ALL women are PURE EVIL!

Haley probably has "Chaotic Good" written on her character sheet. She plays close to Chaotic Neutral a lot of the time, but it's not really worth the DM nitpicking over.

She does act "good-ish" and doesn't really do anything evil to counteract it. In a typical D&D campaign, like the one the Order of the Stick is in, her chaotic good alignment would never come into serious question.
