So, as a note, I am not the author of anything you can ask about here. Just a guy trying to make life easier for my favorite writers.

Generally, I would appreciate similar procedure to the RAW Q&A threads. Please include what book your question relates to, because that is how I will be organizing the second post, where I will be putting all questions asked, with their eventual answers. So please, check the second post if you have a question. If it has already been asked, it will not be answered again.

I am also going to make a further request. I know that the community is generally very good about these things. However, we want to keep this thread with official answers. I will not be including any answers given by people who did not write for Dreamscarred, and preferably I want the person who wrote the content in question. Yes, I am looking for the word of the original author. Can't really gainsay the RAI when the guy who wrote it is telling you what he intended.

So, allow me a moment to get the index post up, and then ask away. To my authors, I am going to want each question asked and answered in this thread, for the purpose of linking everything cleanly. However, if you want to both ask and answer a question at the same time, go ahead.

EDIT: Additional Rules: If you would like to dispute a ruling, then I would request that you do not do so here. Instead, make a new thread for it, and send a link to that thread to both myself and to the relevant DSP writer. That way, we don't clutter this thread, and I can link the argued point to a discussion thread.

THE INDEX OF QUESTIONS

Q:

Q:

Q:

Q: PoW Zweihander Sentinel Question: Does the Armament Shield share the same weapon enhancement bonus and special abilities as the normal attack? Also, can one use the Armament Shield to gain extra attacks while doing a Full Attack? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19378561&postcount=18)

Q: Additionally, is Zweihander Sentinel losing Bluff as class skill instead of Acrobatics an error or is it intended? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19378561&postcount=18)

Q: I thought it might be a good idea to get an answer to the Warlord's Unbreakable gambit in here, since that one can be a little confusing. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19379001&postcount=24)

Q: Any sign of a Path of War errata yet? Been waiting a long time and it's riddled with errors and somehow Bloodforge has one but PoW doesn't? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19388324&postcount=47)

Q: Close Combat Archery - what's "improved defensive focus" it tries to replace? 10th level improvement to Defensive Focus? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19426453&postcount=72)

Q: Defending the Sky - what does "He may then use this counter against any attack targeting an allied creature that it could normally be used to repel." mean? Does it give counters extra range? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19426453&postcount=72)

Q: Does Armament Shield count as a shield for Martial Power feat? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19426453&postcount=72)

Q: Does Zweihander Sentinel works for Bows? Because Zweihander Sentinel and Hawkguard are compatible, and shielding yourself with bow is awesome idea. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19426474&postcount=73)

Q:

Q: What happens if you gain multiple collectives (for instance, as a vitalist 1/thoughtsinger bard 2/combat medic tactician 5)? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19383364&postcount=26)

Q: How do multiclass collectives interact with class features and feats that influence members of your collective (such as Unwilling Collective, or a commander tactician 12/sadist life-leech vitalist 9's Issue Order, Thrall, Drain Health, Transfer Attack, and Empowered In Pain class features)? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19383364&postcount=26)

Q: Can an aberrant aegis enter and leave his armour form, or is it constantly affected by the armour? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19381651&postcount=25)

Q: Never mind the line saying that "Additional weapons can be added to these groups or additional weapon groups can be created at your GM’s discretion," can we get a list of firearm groups for the ability (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19383364&postcount=26)

Q: "For the purpose of [the attacks in a flurry of strikes], the meditant’s base attack bonus from his psychic warrior class levels is equal to his meditant level." Does this include for determining the number of attacks gained from a high base attack bonus? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19383364&postcount=26)

Q: So, the talent Conceal Thoughts (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19386138&postcount=40) seems powerful for a cantrip-equivalent; it seems to give +10 Bluff basically for free. Am I completely off base in thinking that a character could just keep up the +10 Bluff all day by burning psionic focus every hour, then refocusing as a standard action?

Q: Does Deadly Fist Soulknife qualify for Extra Blade Skill at level 1? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19426705&postcount=75)

Q: What should the Grammaton Cryptic's pistols count as when used in melee? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19376670&postcount=14)

Q: Are psychometabolism powers considered polymorph effects? Do they stack with each other and with spells with polymorph descriptor? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19394953&postcount=54)

Q: Soulknife - Focused Offense blade skill
Does it allow to add 1.5 WIS modifier on damage rolls with two-handed weapons?
Does it work with bows?
Does if work with Mind Bolt? "The following blade skills cannot be used with the Mind Bolt" in Blade Skills Soulbolt entry doesn't list it. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19426453&postcount=72)

ANSWERED QUESTIONS

Q: Stalker's Tabi: Can I teleport without having line of sight and effect? What happens if destination is lit or occupied? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19372337&postcount=5)

A: Yes, but if the target destination is not in a legal square (either because the light is too bright, or because it's occupied, or because it's inside a stone wall), the teleportation fails and the action is wasted. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19373875&postcount=8)

Q: What is the base speed of the Sthein in its serpent form? Is it also 30 like its humanoid form? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19371165&postcount=4)

A: Without language that changes their base speed, it remains the same. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19373381&postcount=7)

Q: Warder Defensive Focus Threat Range at level 1 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19370903&postcount=3)

A: Starts at +5-ft at 1st level, and then adds +5-ft every five levels after. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19375733&postcount=9)

Q: Does Bonus Feat class feature replace class feature with the same name of vanilla Warlord or it is another set of bonus feats? How many bonus feats, and on which levels, does Steelfist Commando actually receive? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19372337&postcount=5)

A: He doesn't get the bonus feat at 1st level. He gets the Unarmed Strike stuff instead at 1st and 3rd level instead. His bonus feats are the same as vanilla warlord OR rogue talents. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19375733&postcount=9)

Q: Several maneuvers grant a bonus or action to an "adjacent ally". Pathfinder default is that a character is always his own ally unless otherwise stated. For the purpose of these maneuvers, is the character also considered 'adjacent' to himself, thus capable of using the bonuses granted to an "adjacent ally"? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19384174&postcount=29)

A: No, you can't be adjacent to yourself so you don't qualify for maneuvers or abilities that affect an "adjacent ally." (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19384216&postcount=30)

Q: How does Discipline Expertise work when you've swapped out schools available to you? Do you use the schools available to the base class or the ones you have access to from that class? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19384750&postcount=34)

A: The ones you have access to. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19385181&postcount=36)
A: All the same to the feat - if you swap, then it's still a maneuver available by way of your class. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407702&postcount=65)

Q: Is Diamond-Tipped Feathers limited to the list of conditions specified in the PFSRD? The wording of "conditions" is relatively vague, and the inclusion of Bestow Curse as an example suggests that it's a lot broader than just Paizo's list. If it is broader, though - what are the limitations on the conditions that it can cure? Could it cure/prevent ability damage, ability drain, permanent negative levels, mundane physical effects (such as being on fire), or being affected by a magical emanation such as Silence? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19384768&postcount=35)

A: Anything on the "conditions" list is definitely fodder, and I included Bestow Curse in the language to reflect that it can help shrug off other debuffs (Silence, Slow or Reduce Person would be another thing you might want to shrug off, for example). I didn't include an entire list for a couple of reasons: 1) More things may be added as time goes on and that's hard to add to something already published and 2) it leaves it to the DM's decision to allow it to work or not. It cannot prevent damage, that is stated, to attributes and abilities, it can shrug off negative levels as that is a condition, and as far as being on fire I'd allow it. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19385181&postcount=36)

Q: If you have two initiator classes (War Soul Soulknife + Stalker, for example) are you progressing both of them (initiator-lvl-wise) by Awakened Blade? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19386068&postcount=39)

A: You pick one to advance with the maneuvers gained; that one gets a 1:1 advancement. The other one would get 1/2:1 advancement as you would add half the PrC's level to the IL of the one not being advanced. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19387346&postcount=45) (Dispute (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19389978&postcount=51))

Q: Can War Soul/Gifted Blade/Whatever else is compatible Soulknife enter Awakened Blade without multiclassing? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19386068&postcount=39)

A: No. Gifted Blade is not compatible with War Soul as archetypes go. I don't think there is a way for a soulknife to enter in any fashion without multiclassing, at least not easily. A Pathwalker PsiWarrior can enter awakened blade by himself though. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19387346&postcount=45) (Dispute (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19388301&postcount=46), Refute (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19388377&postcount=48))

Q: Do a maneuver's additional damage dice multiply with non-crit events such as a braced weapon versus a charging opponent, or a lance during a mounted charge? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19387072&postcount=43)

A: Bonus damage expressed as dice is never multiplied unless, for some godforsaken reason, the ability in question specifically includes it. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19387139&postcount=44)

Q: How does fission (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19384305&postcount=31) interact with maneuvers readied by manifester? (Context) (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19384329&postcount=33)

A: Great question! I'm going to say that for the fission-created duplicates, since it splits power points, I'd say that maneuvers readied are shared. So if Original Dude readies the maneuvers and he and Copy Dude share them on a first come first initiate basis. Upside to this is that they both can attempt recovery actions so that's pretty cool. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407702&postcount=65)

Q: The Vanguard Commander's ability "Heightened Defenses" reads thus: (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19400648&postcount=61)

A: The idea is that you can a number of free immediates you can use per day for the purposes of counters, so using your swift action doesn't gimp you out of an immediate action to defend yourself. So you'd use Heightened Defenses and you wouldn't lose your next swift action because of it - in essence, it allows you to use an immediate action counter as a free action on the attacker's turn. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407702&postcount=65)

Q: The Black Seraph maneuver Charge of the Ravager first says:...And at the end it says:...So can I make a full attack at the end of the charge or can't I? Or can I make a full attack, but each attack must be at a different target? RAW and RAI are messing with my head about this... (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19406784&postcount=63)

A: Taveena's first statement is correct. You get one attack on every poor sod along the path, and full attack on the really sorry SOB at the end of it. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407702&postcount=65)
Taveena: I believe the intention is 'you may make a full attack on the charge target, and a maximum of ONE attack at any target within your reach while you're charging' (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407104&postcount=64)

Q: Hawkguard - Ranged Defensive Focus. Does its range increase with levels like regular Defensive Focus? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19398165&postcount=57)

A: It should, yes. Ranged Defensive Focus says "This functions as normal warder defensive focus, except for the following changes...", so the increases to the threatened area should occur as normal. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19398194&postcount=58)

Q: Q: What shapes can the Bannerman's Banner take? It says it "must be carried or displayed", but how can it be displayed? Can you wear it (ala parade armor or something?) Can you strap it to your back (like so: http://i.imgur.com/aANybWI.jpg (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19376670&postcount=14) )?

A: So, if you've got a mount, you can pin it to a pole or something attached to your saddle. Samurai, for example, often wore standards on their backs called sashimono. You could wield a pole arm and attach it to the end of it. You could wear a tabard and parade armor with your standard on it, a shield you're known for with it emblazoned across it. I left it kind of vague so people could get creative with it. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19410468&postcount=66)

Q: How does the Armament Shield class feature of the Zweihander Sentinel interact with the "Hands of Effort" FAQ? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19414754&postcount=70)

A: Overrules it. The class feature specifically allows you to break that rule, RAW. Was it my intent? No, but I don't have a problem with it either. I largely just wanted to enable a two-hander to be used with Turtle maneuvers. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19417294&postcount=71)

Q: Do Elemental Flux maneuvers gain descriptors from the initiator's active energy type? For example, if my active energy type is currently Fire and I initiate Spark Strike, is it treated as having the [Fire] descriptor? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19376041&postcount=12)

A: Yes, and I added this to the Flux document as well. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19376085&postcount=13)

Q: Is Following Wake supposed to modify any attack, or just charge attacks? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19377882&postcount=16)

A: It should only apply to a charge attack and the wording has been updated to reflect this, along with removing the double "this round." (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19378420&postcount=17)

Q: how long does the Bushi's Loyalty bushido ability last? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19378885&postcount=19)

A: It has the same duration as a status spell with a caster level equal to your initiator level. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19378894&postcount=20)

Q: does Burning Bow work with boosts? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19378930&postcount=21)

A: No. But it applies to all the attacks made with those strikes, and there are several that hit multiple opponents. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19378959&postcount=23)

Q: Do IL/ML-increasing traits allow me to pick higher level maneuvers and powers? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19200402&postcount=472)

A: As long as your IL/ML doesn't exceed your HD those traits will increase your IL or ML for reals, so yes, you can learn higher level maneuvers/power. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19200419&postcount=474)

Q: How do weapon group adaptation and Phalanx Lancer/Slayer's stance interact? Would getting weapon group adaptation (heavy blades) and those stances allow you to one-hand a great sword for example? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19384097&postcount=28)

A: Yes in fact it would. There is still some internal reviewing that I'm working on with Thunder, so the weapon restriction on it may not stand. For now, yes, Weapon Group Adaptation would open it up for you. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19385181&postcount=36)

Q: The Harbinger's Ill Tidings class feature gives a 10 ft. (and later another 10 ft.) increase to all her movement speeds. The Harbinger's Grim News class feature grants new movement modes that are as fast as the Harbinger's base land speed. Does this mean that the 10 ft. increase counts double for those movement types? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19385670&postcount=37)

A: By RAW, 50 ft. is correct. I have no intention of altering this function. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19385885&postcount=38) (Dispute (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19390066&postcount=52))

Q: With all archetypes possible, including ones for fighter, monk ect, what's minimal number of classes needed for character to have access to all disciplines? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19386068&postcount=39)

A: that's a great question. I have no idea. I'm sure someone's figured it out already though! (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19387346&postcount=45)

Q: The new feat Sin Eater grants temporary hitpoints whenever a claimed enemy dies. Do they stack? How long do they last? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19386847&postcount=41)

A: By default, temporary HP never stack with themselves or temp HP from other sources in PF (there's an FAQ on the matter); we normally mention it explicitly to be polite. I did forget the duration. Right now the RAW has them lasting until overwritten or expended. I'll probably get that altered to "up to 1 minute". (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19389150&postcount=49)

Q: If a Zealot under the effects of Share Pain use their Martyrdom ability does the damaged transferred to to the Zealot get split between the Zealot and linked creature of Share Pain? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19386992&postcount=42)

A: TL;DR: No (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19400215&postcount=59)

Q: Is the Bushi supposed to be able to recover one maneuver per round as a free action?

A: Yes.

Q: Isn't that overpowered?

A: No. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19403123&postcount=62)

Q: Mounted Maneuver Expertise indicates that mounts do not benefit from bonus damage from maneuvers.

However, Primal Warrior Stance does not provide bonus damage, but modifies the damage of a (natural) weapon. Is this an accurate reading of the rules? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19400535&postcount=60)

A: It would be a liberal interpretation of the rules - no, Primal Warrior's stance doesn't make horsey hit like a bull dozer. Stances are a special level of stupid, as they 'maneuvers' in the sense they fall under that system, but they're not maneuvers - strikes, boosts, and counters. Stances take a passive benefit to the initiator only.

However - I didn't write hussar. I could be wrong here and not know what Elric intended - Elric should feel free to step and say if stances apply here and update the ability to specify that the mount gets stances applied to it. If Elric says stances apply to the mount, then yes, it would get the bulldozer hooves. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407702&postcount=65)

Q: Does the "in-tune with its rider's use of maneuvers from the Veiled Moon discipline" override the latter part of the sentence with regard to Shattered Mirror and Eternal Guardian teleportation maneuvers? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19400535&postcount=60)

A: That's my bad - yeah, I'll fix that. It should include Mirror and Guardian. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407702&postcount=65)

Q: What does standard attack actually means in the context of Thrashing Dragon Style? Does it only works on attacks you make by taking a standard action, in which case the feat would be really weak, or does it also applies to AoOs? (which would be awesome) (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19390333&postcount=53)

A: A standard attack is an attack made as a standard action. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19395095&postcount=55)

Q: Can a Sadist Vitalist take talents via Access Psionic Talent from their method list? Further, can other classes and other method Vitalists gain talents from other Vitalist methods? (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19389618&postcount=50)

A: Misunderstood the question. You're talking about the 6 little talents hidden at the end of the Vitalist list. Okay.

Yes, Access Psionic Talent would let you pull talents off of those lists, as the feat allows from ANY class list. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19407702&postcount=65)

Path of War - Warder

In Defensive Focus, it says "When recovering maneuvers as a full round action, the warder sets up a defensive perimeter around himself to defend her allies, increasing her threatened area by 5 ft. for every 5 initiator levels she possesses." Does this mean that the Warder does not increase her threatened area until 5th level, or is she supposed to increase her threatened area by 5-ft at first level, and add an extra 5-ft at 5th, 10th, etc?

PoW - Steelfist Commando

Does Bonus Feat class feature replace class feature with the same name of vanilla Warlord or it is another set of bonus feats? How many bonus feats, and on which levels, does Steelfist Commando actually receive?

I know the answer is "replaces; 6, 14, 18", but IMO it deserves to be here.

So far, there aren't any questions I'm the right person to answer, but I'm happy to see this thread and will direct folks to it to try to answer questions. :)

What is the base speed of the Sthein in its serpent form? Is it also 30 like its humanoid form?

BEHOLD! (https://docs.google.com/document/d/14MwMDEtA-Yzd9YXfgo0DN_i-rAZM2gp5gkaBPzb5N9Q/edit?usp=sharing)

The relevant section of the errata:

Page 60-Add “Speed: Sthein have a base speed of 30 feet.”
Page 60-In the Alternate Form Racial Trait, the text should read:
“As a full-round action, a sthein may switch between a serpentine form and a fully humanoid form. Her abilities remain the same in all ways except for the following: in serpentine form she cannot use any magic that requires somatic components (except for spell-like abilities), and she gains a 30 foot swim speed. In humanoid form a sthein has the same facial features and coloration as in serpentine form but has 2 normal legs in place of her long tail, and her bite damage is reduced to 1d4+Strength modifier plus 1 bleed damage.”

Without language that changes their base speed, it remains the same.

Yes, but if the target destination is not in a legal square (either because the light is too bright, or because it's occupied, or because it's inside a stone wall), the teleportation fails and the action is wasted.

Starts at +5-ft at 1st level, and then adds +5-ft every five levels after.

He doesn't get the bonus feat at 1st level. He gets the Unarmed Strike stuff instead at 1st and 3rd level instead. His bonus feats are the same as vanilla warlord OR rogue talents.

The current RAW does not support this (because to get +5 ft at 1st level, you have to round up, but the default rule is to round down). Do you plan to correct that in future errata?

Actual question first, then a bit of background that probably shouldn't go up top
Ultimate Psionics: What should the Grammaton Cryptic's pistols count as when used in melee?

RAW they aren't light and you might not even be proficient with them (contrast: pistol whip) but that makes the feature almost impossible to use and their stats are basically identical to a light mace's.

As an aside, I'm surprised this archetype doesn't get noticed more, being one of the coolest archetypes for probably the coolest class in UPsi and all.

Path of War: What shapes can the Bannerman's Banner take? It says it "must be carried or displayed", but how can it be displayed? Can you wear it (ala parade armor or something?) Can you strap it to your back (like so: http://i.imgur.com/aANybWI.jpg )?

Curious for the sake of things like STS* and other mechanics that require a hand free and aesthetic design choices. Also probably applies to Privateers, though they don't need to actually be holding it to function so not quite as important for them.

*Could have sworn STS required you to have an empty hand. Corrected thanks to the post beneath this one though.

Scarlet Throne Style does not require a free hand, it only requires that you not attack with a weapon or item wielded in your off hand(s).

EDIT: The banner does not need to be held, it only needs to be displayed for its effects to work. Stick it in the ground, tie it to your back. Do whatever.

It should only apply to a charge attack and the wording has been updated to reflect this, along with removing the double "this round."

It has the same duration as a status spell with a caster level equal to your initiator level.
As it's written, it's "You may mark a friend or ally as a standard action a number of times per day equal to your initiating modifier (minimum 1). This mark allows you to know the relative position and general health condition of the creatures marked as if they were under the effects of a status spell (caster level equal to your initiator level)." which... I guess since Status only has one variable makes sense for it to be duration that way, but it very much implies otherwise by the language (it implies that you mark them, you get to have a Status-spell like effect on them while they're marked, and then with no listed duration, they are marked FOREVER and you never stop knowing any time your buddy falls asleep).

I suggest changing the wording to read to actually /be/ casting Status on your ally instead. Less confusing that way, maybe. Or I could just be tired. Checked with the resident RAW guru I hang out with. Since it's (Su) it needs to have a duration specified in the ability. The mark isn't casting the spell (and even if it was, Deathwatch is rolled into the mark, which would require a separate duration listing for /that/) and unless the mark is listed as ending after a certain point it just runs on forever.

I thought it might be a good idea to get an answer to the Warlord's Unbreakable gambit in here, since that one can be a little confusing.

Q: The Unbreakable Gambit references the warlord's ability to "resist his opponent's attack" in the reward, but the gambit only works on effects that are harmless on a failed saving throw. This seems contradictory?

A: Unbreakable Gambit has a pretty severe set of typos in it. It's supposed to exclude harmless effects, so that you cannot recover maneuvers by saving easily against low-level buffs slung at you by allies or provided through potions or items.

Unbreakable Gambit
Risk: The warlord attempts to succeed on a Fortitude or Will save against an extraordinary ability, maneuver, power, spell, or spell-like or supernatural ability. This gambit is used on effects where the result of a successful saving throw either negates the effect or results in partial or halved effect. This gambit may not be used on effects where the result includes the (harmless) result. Unlike other gambits, this one can be attempted as an immediate action instead of a swift action.

Until official errata is released, you can use the above changes.

The original question can be found here (http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2sa0q?Dreamscarred-PoW-The-warlord-and-the#1), the replies can be found here (http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2sa0q?Dreamscarred-PoW-The-warlord-and-the#8) and here (http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2sa0q?Dreamscarred-PoW-The-warlord-and-the#10). Psionics (specifically: vitalist, tactician, thoughtsinger bard (interesting name choice, what happens if/when you publish an actual update of the thoughtsinger for play in Third Dawn?), pack leader ranger, and zealot)

What happens if you gain multiple collectives (for instance, as a vitalist 1/thoughtsinger bard 2/combat medic tactician 5)?

How do multiclass collectives interact with class features and feats that influence members of your collective (such as Unwilling Collective, or a commander tactician 12/sadist life-leech vitalist 9's Issue Order, Thrall, Drain Health, Transfer Attack, and Empowered In Pain class features)?

Also psionics (this time marksman): To summarize the complaint...
"So the Kaigun archetype for the Marksman, which is basically a Gunslinger, gets Favored Weapon, like a normal Marksman (EXACTLY like a normal marksman). Normal Marksmen cannot choose guns."
Never mind the line saying that "Additional weapons can be added to these groups or additional weapon groups can be created at your GM’s discretion," can we get a list of firearm groups for the ability (even if they require some silly disclaimer that they're not appropriate for all campaigns)? It would be nice to be able to run numbers with a minimum of calls made.

Also psionics. Edit central tonight!

Anything on the "conditions" list is definitely fodder, and I included Bestow Curse in the language to reflect that it can help shrug off other debuffs (Silence, Slow or Reduce Person would be another thing you might want to shrug off, for example).

A - You pick one to advance with the maneuvers gained; that one gets a 1:1 advancement. The other one would get 1/2:1 advancement as you would add half the PrC's level to the IL of the one not being advanced.

By default, temporary HP never stack with themselves or temp HP from other sources in PF (there's an FAQ on the matter); we normally mention it explicitly to be polite. I did forget the duration. Hmm, this is different from the answer I got from the deves (you I think, ErrantX), when I asked the same thing on the old DSP boards. I wrote the answer I was given then into my house rules set, so I’m very confident this is a new interpretation.

At that point the answer was that PrC’s add their level to all Initiator levels you have, including the Martial feats’s Initiator level. It was specified at the time that you did have to select what class (or feat) you add each new maneuver, new maneuver slot or swap to.

So, can I ask if this is a deliberate change from the old answer, and maybe the thoughts behind it?

I’m sad the old board’s can’t be accessed any more. No one knows a way to get anything back from them, right? (I tried Wayback machine and Google cache already for what I was looking for).

Example: My level 9 Harbinger has a 40 ft. base land speed, thanks to Ill Tidings. I choose Dark Wings for my newly gained Grim News upgrade. Is it a 40 ft. or a 50 ft. fly speed?

This caught me a weird because the question seems to be phrased incorrectly or incompletely.

First I want to quote the items in question:

Dark Wings: The harbinger gains a fly speed equal to her base land speed at Good maneuverability. This flight is supernatural in nature; though the harbinger may develop wings or another form of evident propulsion, she flies through supernatural acumen alone.

Ill Tidings (Ex): Like unwanted news, the harbinger travels swiftly. The harbinger gains a 10 foot competence bonus to her movement speeds. This bonus increases by 10 feet at 10th level.

My understanding is that “Base Speed” is what your race supplies. For Human, your base speed is 30, and that will never change. If you wear heavy armor your Land Speed drops to 20ft, but your base speed doesn’t change, since, logically, you need a fixed (base) value to calculate any bonuses or reductions from!

Given than, for a human with 30ft base speed, Dark Wings grants a fly speed of 30, which is then improved by Ill tidings to 40.

Now, the flip side of this is that you can wear heavy or medium armor and still fly at 40, since armor reduces your land speed, but never your BASE land speed.

I see that Lord_Gareth has already answered this, but I felt that since it was based on specific wording, it might merit a second look from the devs.

Q: If a Zealot under the effects of Share Pain use their Martyrdom ability does the damaged transferred to to the Zealot get split between the Zealot and linked creature of Share Pain?

TL;DR: No

Share Pain (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/psionic-powers/s/share-pain) reads:

You take half damage from all attacks that deal hit point damage to you, and the subject takes the remainder.

Martyrdom is not an attack, so the damage is not transferred.

Mounted Maneuver Expertise indicates that mounts do not benefit from bonus damage from maneuvers.

However, Primal Warrior Stance does not provide bonus damage, but modifies the damage of a (natural) weapon. Is this an accurate reading of the rules?

Mounted Maneuver Expertise (Ex): At 1st level, the hussar and his mount are so in tune with each other that they can work as one when performing maneuvers. Whenever a hussar is mounted and uses a maneuver with a movement component (such as making a charge attack, or taking an extra move action), the hussar can have his mount make the appropriate move action in his place. Both the hussar and mount receive any bonuses from the maneuver that would normally apply only to the initiator (such as attack bonuses, healing, temporary health, but not bonus damage). If the maneuver allows the initiator to make a charge attack, both the mount and hussar are considered to be charging.

Primal Warrior Stance:

By taking a wide stance that invites the death of any before him, the mighty disciple of Primal Fury wields the power of overwhelming force to it's greatest effects. The initiator ignores difficult terrain when charging while in this stance, and whenever he is subject to a size modifier for CMB checks or to his CMD, the disciple is treated as one size category larger if doing so would be advantageous to him. He is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature's special attacks based on size (such as grab or swallow whole) can affect him.

In addition, for the Omen Rider:

"Unlike a druid’s animal companion, a spectral steed may not take an archetype; additionally, the share spells allows the spectral steed to always be in-tune with its rider’s use of maneuvers from the Veiled Moon discipline, and may also teleport with its rider on maneuvers that would translocate it or grant it the ability to see and strike incorporeal creatures."

Does the "in-tune with its rider's use of maneuvers from the Veiled Moon discipline" override the latter part of the sentence with regard to Shattered Mirror and Eternal Guardian teleportation maneuvers?

The Vanguard Commander's ability "Heightened Defenses" reads thus:

The character gains an additional immediate action to be used for the purposes of initiating a counter on a round that he initiates a boost. He can use this additional immediate action a number of times per day equal to 1 + his Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). This replaces the dual boost class feature.

The RAI of this seems to be that you can gain a certain number of extra Immediates per day, for initiating counters when you would not otherwise be able to do so, however, the ability is talking about the initiation of boosts, which don't deny your ability to make counters, as immediate actions negate your next swift action.

Furthermore, as a clarification, if I did use Heightened Defenses to use N immediate actions in one round, does that eat my next swift actions, or my next N swift actions?

I believe the intention is 'you may make a full attack on the charge target, and a maximum of ONE attack at any target within your reach while you're charging', or possibly 'a full attack on the charge target, and a maximum of one attack against enemies squares you pass over during your charge' - though if it's the latter I don't think it actually functions, as it doesn't actually have any clauses to allow you to move over enemies during the charge.

How does fission (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/psionic-powers/f/fission) interact with maneuvers readied by manifester?

In what context?

Does the copy get maneuvers? Separate copy of maneuvers readied by manifester at the time of manifesting, or maneuvers initiated by the copy are expended for original?

Great question!

How does Discipline Expertise work when you've swapped out schools available to you? Do you use the schools available to the base class or the ones you have access to from that class?

Discipline Expertise (General)
You are quite adept at the use of your available discipline's associated skills.
Benefit(s): Choose a class you have at least one level in. You gain a +2 competence bonus to checks with the skills associated with maneuvers available to that class.

All the same to the feat - if you swap, then it's still a maneuver available by way of your class.

Can a Sadist Vitalist take talents via Access Psionic Talent from their method list? Further, can other classes and other method Vitalists gain talents from other Vitalist methods?

Access Psionic Talent (Psionic)
You are able to manifest minor psionic abilities.
Prerequisite: Manifester level 1st or Unlocked Talent.
Benefit: You gain five psionic talents.
Special: This feat may be selected more than once. Each time, you gain five additional psionic talents. These talents can be from any class list.

Access Psionic Talent would get them 0th level Vitalist talents or 0th level talents from other classes, but not more methods or powers from other methods. Methods are generally 1st level powers.

Misunderstood the question. You're talking about the 6 little talents hidden at the end of the Vitalist list. Okay.

Yes, Access Psionic Talent would let you pull talents off of those lists, as the feat allows from ANY class list.

Does the "in-tune with its rider's use of maneuvers from the Veiled Moon discipline" override the latter part of the sentence with regard to Shattered Mirror and Eternal Guardian teleportation maneuvers?

Part 1 -
It would be a liberal interpretation of the rules - no, Primal Warrior's stance doesn't make horsey hit like a bull dozer.

Part 2 -
That's my bad - yeah, I'll fix that. It should include Mirror and Guardian.

The idea is that you can a number of free immediates you can use per day for the purposes of counters, so using your swift action doesn't gimp you out of an immediate action to defend yourself. So you'd use Heightened Defenses and you wouldn't lose your next swift action because of it - in essence, it allows you to use an immediate action counter as a free action on the attacker's turn.

Path of War: What shapes can the Bannerman's Banner take? It says it "must be carried or displayed", but how can it be displayed? Can you wear it (ala parade armor or something?) Can you strap it to your back (like so: http://i.imgur.com/aANybWI.jpg )?

Inspiring Banner (Ex) At 5th level, a bannerman's banner becomes a symbol of inspiration to his allies and companions. As long as the bannerman's banner is clearly visible and he is in a Golden Lion stance, all allies within 60 feet receive a +2 morale bonus on saving throws against fear and fatigue and a +2 morale bonus on attack and damage rolls. At 12th level, and at 19th level, these bonuses increase by +1. If the Golden Lion stance he is using grants a similarly typed bonus to attack, damage, or saving throws, then increase that bonus by the amount of the inspiring banner's bonus. The banner must be at least Small or larger and must be carried or displayed by the bannerman or his mount to function, and can be held while using a buckler.

This ability replaces the warlord's battle prowess class feature.

So, if you've got a mount, you can pin it to a pole or something attached to your saddle. Samurai, for example, often wore standards on their backs called sashimono. You could wield a pole arm and attach it to the end of it. You could wear a tabard and parade armor with your standard on it, a shield you're known for with it emblazoned across it. I left it kind of vague so people could get creative with it.

QHow does the Armament Shield class feature of the Zweihander Sentinel interact with the "Hands of Effort" FAQ?

Armament Shield (Ex)

When wielding a one-handed weapon in two hands or a two-handed weapon, the weapon is treated as a light shield for the purposes of performing a shield bash attack on an opponent. The warder smashes with the butt of a spear-haft, the pommel of a greatsword, or the broadside of her axe. All are essentially the same and are treated as light shields for the purposes of shield- bash attacks or martial maneuvers to be used with a weapon of this type (such as Iron Tortoise maneuvers that require a shield to function).

Armor Spikes: Can I use two-weapon fighting to make an "off-hand" attack with my armor spikes in the same round I use a two-handed weapon?
No.
Likewise, you couldn't use an armored gauntlet to do so, as you are using both of your hands to wield your two-handed weapon, therefore your off-hand is unavailable to make any attacks.

The initiator makes a full attack and each strike inflicts an additional 4d6 points of damage that ignores damage reduction. After the attacks are made, the target must make a Fortitude save (DC is 19 + initiation modifier). Each successful hit increases Fortitude save by +1 per attack to resist this strike; failure on the Fortitude save indicates that the target is reduced to -1 hit points.

Strictly speaking no - you gain the Unarmed Assault class feature. That does not qualify for that feat because you don't actually get the class feature: Blade Skill. Unarmed Assault gives you a blade skill as part of the class feature, but it in and of itself is not the Blade Skill class feature. Does Battle Dragon Stance only apply when making a full attack or maneuver that uses both weapons? Like you use a maneuver that is a single attack with one weapon, do you still get the benefits?

Q2
How does Battle Dragon Stance work with an Unchained Monk's Flurry of Blows? Would it apply assuming they're just fighting unarmed?

A1 - It applies when making full attacks, maneuvers that use both weapons, and a term we desperately need to define for the errata "fighting with two weapons" - basically what we intend is that any time you're actively taking the two-weapon fighting penalties, you get the benefits of the stance.

A2 - It would apply if they're fighting using the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, but otherwise no. Flurry alone wouldn't get you there.

The wording specifically says "Make a melee attack" so yeah, you need to make a melee attack get the healing boom to go off.

-X

I think the question he's asking is whether that attack needs to hit or not. The wording seems to suggest that even if your melee attack misses, you still get the "healing boom." This is different from the other healing maneuvers which usually require the attack to hit.

Are there any limits to how often Warlords can use a particular gambit? E.g. can she use the same gambit each round if she wants to?

(I remember a post on these forums that implied one had to attempt each gambit once before using previous ones again...but reading the Warlord it looks to me like one can use the same one over and over as often as you want. Am I missing something?)

Thanks!

A: (No I didn't write the Warlord, but I yelled at Chris enough about this that I think I'm qualified to answer). You can attempt the same gambit multiple times in a row, there's no restriction on how often you can use a gambit. That didn't used to be the case, back in the playtest, you had to use every gambit you had before you could reuse one.

I couldn't tell you the specific reason for why, but it looks like everything that would make this a network power is built in to specifically allow it for people who DON'T have the ability to Network powers to be able to network this one. That's probably why.

Personally, I find it hateful to use the same gambit over and over again. I think it's lame. The reason it's allowed is because it created option paralysis at higher level to prevent this, meaning that you'd have to use all of your known gambits before they reset. This made it harder at higher level. We killed that. The result is spammable gambits. I hate that. But it was the best solution for the situation.

I'm not entirely sure I understand. If I understand your explanation correctly, this power is written in such a way as to allow classes without a collective to use this as if they had a collective? My reason for asking is because I'm playing a Tactician in my current RL campaign, and both me and another member of the group are playing as Necropolitans (we play 3.P, FYI). The immunity to mind-affecting is a bugger to work around, but with Spirit of Many, I'm able to work mind-affecting immunity and use the useful powers. Since battlesense is mind-affecting but isn't a network power, it doesn't benefit from Spirit of Many, meaning the other member and I can't use it.

Also, to reply to your Gambit Dilemma, couldn't you have the gambits have a 1d4 round cooldown or something similar? I don't know much about class balance, but how would that affect how the class runs?

Thanks to you both for the *very* speedy answers! I'm sure it's too late to make a change now...but perhaps they could have a "can't use the same gambit twice in a row rule". That way spamming the same every turn can't happen...but higher level Warlords genuinely get more flexible as they gain more gambits. (Perhaps I'll play my Warlord that way, anyway.)

Well, you're kind of playing in the gray area as is with cross over editions, but I'll try to help. Since the power gives you the ability to fake a collective, I'd house rule in your situation to allow it because there isn't a reason not to.

If I get my first level of initiator class at character level that allows to pick maneuvers of level 3 or higher (these with Prerequisites: X maneuvers of said discipline known), do high-level maneuvers qualify for each other? For example, fighter8/warder1 have IL of 5, and five maneuvers to learn. Can he learn two level 3 maneuvers of one discipline (each of these maneuvers requiring him to know one maneuver of that discipline)?

Off the record: would doing so make me into book throwing target at your table?

Finesse Training (Ex): At 1st level, a rogue gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat. In addition, starting at 3rd level, she can select any one type of weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse (such as rapiers or daggers). Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. Whenever she makes a successful melee attack with the selected weapon, she adds her Dexterity modifier instead of her Strength modifier to the damage roll. If any effect would prevent the rogue from adding her Strength modifier to the damage roll, she does not add her Dexterity modifier. The rogue can select a second weapon at 11th level and a third at 19th level.

Unchained Rogue Finesse Training: When I'm replacing Strength for Dexterity, what happens with a one-handed weapon? What about an off-hand weapon?

With a two-handed weapon, you add 1-1/2 times your Dexterity bonus on damage rolls, and with an off-hand weapon, you add half your Dexterity bonus on damage rolls. As per the ability's text, if an effect would prevent you from adding your Strength modifier on damage rolls, you don't add your Dexterity modifier. However, any other effects that would increase the multiplier to your Strength bonus on damage rolls (such as the two-handed fighter archetype's overhand chop) do not affect your Dexterity bonus on damage rolls.

Focused Offense

As long as the soulknife maintains psionic focus, she adds her Wisdom modifier to her attack and damage rolls instead of her Strength modifier.

As written, due to this recent FAQ, Focused Offense MIGHT grant 1.5 WIS to damage.
While it is a FAQ over one ability with a different stat, the general wording of the FAQ might contain precendent.
If you feel that it is relevant enough, you might want to look over similar abilities and address them in relation to this FAQ.

Its mostly that any ability that is worded like this will create confusion as to if it works like Finesse Training.

It also seems to make it clear what Paizo means when they say "adds her X stat modifier instead of her strength modifier to damage"

I think what brought up the FAQ in the first place was that all of their stat replacement to damage abilities specifically had lines preventing this interpretation.

While I acknowledge that they are two separate abilities, its how the FAQ I'd worded that I feel has consequences. It shows what Paizo thinks replacing strength with another stat means mechanically. Even if the two abilities ARE different their wording is VERRY similar.
All I am trying to say is that the FAQ can cause confusion as to what replacing strength with another stat means from Drwamscarred press means and that it is something that might need to be explicitly stated. The Unchained Rouge FAQ places all such abilities in question.

Unchained does some things that we're not doing and Unchained is a variant and optional system. We're not playing to that tune when we design our things. Unless it expressly states it, and it does not, Focused Offense is Wisdom modifier x1 exclusively. Just like Deadly Agility is exclusively Dexterity modifier x1, be it two handed, one handed, or off-handed.

A lot of these kinds of abilities flip flop between being able to be used after learning the result of something or having to be used as a preventative measure. The question you quoted my answer from boils down to "Can I use a maneuver I don't meet the prerequisites for to meet the prerequisites to take a maneuver I don't meet the prerequisites for in order to meet the prerequisites to take the first maneuver I don't meet the prerequisites for?" The answer to that is no. But once you meet the prerequisite "one maneuver known of X Discipline" you qualify to keep that maneuver, even if it's the only maneuver you know from that discipline.

That is really wonky... So it's basically an opposed check that automatically fails on a 20. Why didn't you just use the Wall of Blades text instead? It doesn't work against Nat 20's because it is replacing your AC with your Attack Roll. This says nothing about failing against Nat 20's, just that if you beat the attack roll you automatically negate the attack.

Because there's nothing specific to Intimidating Force that makes it work differently than other counters. It's the general rule for how all counters work, as detailed in the Systems and Use chapter of Path of War, including a sidebar that specifically calls out how they interact with Natural 20s.

Except that those are a very different set of circumstances from the ones the question I answered was asking about, and by conflating the two you confuse the issue instead of clarifying it. It wasn't a question about swapping maneuvers, it was a question about taking maneuvers for the first time at a high enough IL that you had to concern yourself with prerequisites and their restrictions on maneuver choice.

Sorry, but I find it hard to be more specific about this, because I've been struggling to understand counters. How is this:

Q: When, compared to the enemy's action, do counters occur? Does that depend on the counter, or is that always the same moment?

I'm asking this because some counters clearly state what happens, (such as Scarlet Throne's Scarlet Riposte) but others are a bit vague on the actions (Like Black Seraph's Vengeful Riposte), and I can't really find any general rulings on counters apart from the following:

Counters are immediate actions that you attempt during an enemy's turn.
Usually, your foe must make a specific action, such as an attack against you, for you to use a counter.

But that doesn't say anything about when a counter happens. Before the enemy attack roll, between attack and damage roll, or after both? Let us say I am confused.

A: Well, I just answered this in post #112 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19450606&postcount=112). In general, you make the counter after the attack is rolled, because as has been stated, a natural 20 is an automatic hit even against a counter. Some counters have different triggers though, so they will specify when they're used.

I have two questions about the interaction between Collective and Network powers that involve a choice, such as Animal Affinity (choose which ability score to affect).

For manifesting Personal powers on someone else: do you decide what benefit they get, or do they?

For using the Augment provided by Spirit of Many to choose additional targets: Do the choices have to be the same for every target? e.g. Everyone gets +4 to Strength? Or is it decided on an individual basis, so the wizard could take +4 to Intelligence while the barbarian goes for extra Strength?

So asked my GM if psychometabolism (Healing) powers (specifically for a Vitalist) allow me to heal undead (assuming they are in the collective). He had some good points as follows -

Hmm, I honestly don't know. The undead entry specifically says they can only be healed by negative energy, and Vitalist doesn't have that. Moreover something like Heal Injuries explicitly only works on living targets and requires a fort save, which means it's doubly ineffective against undead (they're immune to fort saves unless they target objects)... However, Spirit of Many says it works on targets normally immune, and it doesn't allow a save, which means it should bypass those restrictions, but undead are still technically only healed by negative energy which you're still not doing...

So basically, I'm not sure. Collective Healing specifically says the type of healing (positive, negative, etc.) is not changed, which would to me indicate that it isn't supposed to work, but it sort of clashes with Spirit of Many

Any offical/semi-offical input on this one?

Yo.

I remember someone answered me somethin' different: that I could use a counter after learning the result. Perhaps 'm wrong but I just want to know what scenario is correct:

a) DM rolls against me. 15 on dice and gives me a total of 46 against my 45 AC. I decide to use a counter (that's what we are doing now, we're capable of seeing if using the counter MAY help).
b) DM rolls against me. 15. He asks me if I want to use a counter. I say no and then hits me with a 46 against a 45 AC. I am unable to use a counter now.

EDIT:

If it's a) you will be wasting counters. Let's asume you believe enemy is powerful and rolls a 15 and you use your counter... The DM adds numbers and it's not gonna hit you and you just wasted a counter when enemy couldn't hit you anyways! This is somewhat awkward for Adamantine Shell (Iron Tortoise). Some counters allow you to hit back but I still feel it's somewhat "a wasted counter".

Thanks.

I'll respond with the answer that Dusk gave you already:

Nope, while spell combat works similarly to TWF, it isn't so Battle Dragon Stance does nothing. To be honest if you want to add some PoW to your Magus Scarlet Throne is better for Magus since both are focused on one-handed weapon maneuvers.

Dusk is totally right. Throne is more up your alley, or Mithral Current from the Path of War: Expanded playtest.

At this time... no. Those two disciplines open up too many weird doors alignment wise which is why no one gets them as a default discipline base class wise. If you want them, then I'd suggest either trait/tradition on a warlord or zealot, or use the new ordained defender archetype to get them natively and then enter the PrC from there.

No. Paizo issued their FAQ on this, and the untyped bonuses from ability modifiers are treated as though they are a typed bonus (ability score), so you cannot benefit from the same ability score twice (unless one of the bonuses is specifically of a different type, like a competence bonus equal to your ability score bonus).

But Deadly Agility is a replacer, not a bonus.

That's irrelevant.

Here's the text of the feat.

Benefit(s): You may add your Dexterity modifier in place of your Strength modifier when wielding a light weapon or a weapon that gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat (such as the rapier) when determining additional damage inflicted upon a successful attack.

Here are the normal rules for adding Strength to damage:

When you hit with a melee or thrown weapon, including a sling, add your Strength modifier to the damage result. A Strength penalty, but not a bonus, applies on damage rolls made with a bow that is not a composite bow.

Thus, with a weapon to which Deadly Agility is applicable, here are the rules for adding Dexterity to damage:

When you hit with a melee weapon, add your Dexterity modifier to the damage result.

And now the FAQ (http://paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1fm#v5748eaic9sgk):

Do ability modifiers from the same ability stack? For instance, can you add the same ability bonus on the same roll twice using two different effects that each add that same ability modifier?
No. An ability bonus, such as "Strength bonus", is considered to be the same source for the purpose of bonuses from the same source not stacking. However, you can still add, for instance “a deflection bonus equal to your Charisma modifier” and your Charisma modifier. For this purpose, however, the paladin's untyped "bonus equal to her Charisma bonus (if any) on all saving throws" from divine grace is considered to be the same as "Charisma bonus (if any)", and the same would be true for any other untyped "bonus equal to her [ability score] bonus" constructions.

Deadly Agility changes the default rules for weapon damage such that you add your Dexterity modifier to damage; this bonus does not have a typing. Battle Dragon's Stance would in the context of our discussion add your Dexterity modifier to damage; this bonus also does not have a typing. There are two instances of "Dexterity modifier" being added to damage, and thus they are considered to be from the same source for stacking purposes. The RAW on this is very clear.

So no, you don't get double Dex to damage. Nor should you, to be honest. Thrashing Dragon has enough bonus damage to make TWF work just fine as long as you have sneak attack (or similar) and/or Piranha Strike. Sure, TWF has full-attack-dependency problems, but so does everyone who isn't a mounted charger.

Apologies for the double-post.

I have some questions about the Mystic and Animus augmentation of maneuvers.

1. When a Mystic spends Animus on a maneuver-specific augment (e.g. increasing Spark Strike's damage), do they also gain bonuses as if they'd spent that amount of Animus on the general augments, or must they be paid for separately?

2. Does the limit on per-maneuver Animus expenditure apply to the general augments and the maneuver-specific augments together, or does it apply to them separately? For example, can a 1st-level Mystic spend one point of Animus to increase the damage of Spark Strike and spend another point of Animus to get a +2 bonus on all d20 rolls made as part of the maneuver, or can they only spend one point of Animus per maneuver no matter how that Animus is spent?

A: A standard attack is an attack made as a standard action.

I figure the answer is probably going to be "No," but would you be able to use Thrashing Dragon Style with Seize the Opportunity?

I am aware that Attack Actions are a specific type of Standard Action, and therefore this combination is unlikely to work, but it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

Q:

If I get Martial Training or Advanced Study via Martial Flexibility (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/hybrid-classes/brawler#TOC-Martial-Flexibility-Ex-), do I need to spend 10 minutes readying my newly acquired maneuvers? I can see it being logical with the latter, but it makes the former unusable too, as Martial Flexibility lasts only for a minute.

A:

Rules as written? Yes, you'd have to take 10 minutes.

That's totally lame and not fun.

I'd say a perfectly acceptable method is that those maneuvers come readied to you when you call them with Martial Flexibility, if your game would not be unbalanced by doing so. Check with your GM, but I personally don't see a problem with it.

[Mundane crystal] possesses the properties of a similar masterwork steel weapon or armor, except for visual appearance.
How far does this go? Is a weapon made of mundane crystal vulnerable to rust monsters or to folugubs (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/psionic-bestiary/folugub)?

At 3rd level and every two levels thereafter, the cryptic's disrupt pattern deals an additional 1d6 points of damage. This additional damage is not multiplied on a critical hit or by using feats such as Vital Strike, but it is halved if the creature struck is not of the cryptic's active creature type.
One of the implications here is that a cryptic can Vital Strike to deal multiplied base damage (1d6, plus possibly Intelligence?) if, for instance, they're using Channeled Disruption (as the Brutal Disruptor ability) or a set of pattern breaker's gloves. Is this how these abilities interact? If not, how should they?

1 - Crystal only gets eaten by our crystal-eating folugub. Sleep safely from the rusties.

2 - Disrupt Pattern can be confusing. You can Vital Strike the initial 1d6 + Int, critical hit with it, etc. It's the weapon for all intents and purposes. The increased disruption damage class feature is different and separate. Abilities like the cryptic's increased pattern disruption stuff is added AFTER Vital Strike happens. So if you Channel Disruption with your longsword into that poor fool (or just us normal disrupt pattern for that matter), the increased damage from increased disruption is not multiplied or altered by critical hits or feats like Vital Strike because the weapon is the delivery method for the attack; only the weapon or carrier for the extra damage multiplies. Similar to how maneuvers work in that. That make sense?

I don't think Paizo allows you to cherry pick from archetypes outside of your own (if applicable) with gunslinger, so I would say per the rules established by Paizo - No. Personally - I'd say ask your DM and see if there is allowance on a case by case. Those Throne maneuvers multiply the base weapon plus ability score/enhancement bonuses and whatever other static numeric bonus (like Weapon Specialization, etc); boosts or abilities that add dice are never multiplied with this.

Martial Charge doesn't add anything specifically on its own, so I'm assuming you mean the damage from the maneuver. You perform the charge action, get your +2 to hit and -2 to AC, and then initiate the maneuver at the end of the charge as if you had been standing there in the first place, more or less (modified by the charge action's abilities), as a full round action. So if you ran up and Martial Charged a Scything Strike, you'd move your 10ft or more, get the +2 to hit and -2 to AC, and once you reached your target(s), you'd initiate the maneuver as normal with the modifiers from charging applied.

Does that help clarify it?

With Martial Charge, can you end a charge with full-round action maneuvers, not just standard action maneuvers?

Nope, standard action only.

You can't use Martial Charge to chain strikes. Martial Charge only works if you use the regular charge action, not a maneuver that counts as a charge.

Negative. There is no cross over at all - the only that translates is each level from the other class counts as half an initiator level. You must meet prerequisites with the class that benefits from them.

Yes, to my understand it falls under this clause (I made a pun here, get it?)

"Armed" Unarmed Attacks: Sometimes a character's or creature's unarmed attack counts as an armed attack. A monk, a character with the Improved Unarmed Strike feat, a spellcaster delivering a touch attack spell, and a creature with natural physical weapons all count as being armed (see natural attacks).

You'd count your natural attacks for this purpose as they are "armed" unarmed attacks.

I wish I could answer that - that's one for the psionics development team and one is super busy and the other is on vacation. I can only imagine its due to the predominantly defensive nature of the aegis on this one.

Are psychometabolism powers considered polymorph effects? Do they stack with each other and with spells with polymorph descriptor?

By the RAW, no, they are not considered polymorph effects (though personally, I think they probably should be). No they do not stack with each other, but because they're not 'polymorph' effects then in theory so long as the bonuses don't use the same types (such as enhancement for metamorphosis and size bonuses from polymorph) then you are able to stack 'em up.

Can an aberrant aegis enter and leave his armour form, or is it constantly affected by the armour?

He can leave his armor form, he more or less 'Hulks Out' to get his aberration traits come forth.

Can you please provide the relevant ruling that overrides this:

Edit: Specifically in regard to things with Stealth checks or Diplomacy checks for Veiled Moon and Golden Lion respectively.

I cannot. Strictly speaking, by the RAW (or lack thereof), the use of a maneuver does not technically fall under the caveat of rage restrictions EXCEPT with skills. While not intended to be exclusive, there is currently no provision for the use of rage with skill-check maneuvers. I think this is something we'll address today, as I think a feat may be a good patch for that due to how it would require the overriding of a current system rule.

Once again, nothing about rage and maneuvers is incompatible. Skill check maneuvers are useable while in a rage no matter the skill check you're making.

That definitely needs a sidebar or clarification then, because AFAICT per RAW any maneuver that relies on a DEX, INT or CHA skill check is unusable while Raging. The 'requires concentration' clause also could be construed to include any maneuver, thats closer to a GM call.

As far as a feat patch, personally im not a fan of feats just to allow a multi-class based concept, unless its such a super-uber build that it needs a feat tax as balance. Plus, sucks for Martial classes in a group that may sometimes have a Skald, sometimes not.

This is not a discussion thread - please take this to the main thread for further talking about it as I had asked. This is for Q and A only - thanks!

Sorry about the giant wall of questions. I've been scrutinizing the maneuvers carefully for a Warlord Bushi that I'm planning on playing, and the following is some of the stuff that I dug out.

General Path of War

Can you substitute combat maneuvers (like Trip) in place of strikes or counters that allow you to make one or more attacks? If so, do you get the Xd6 damage, or any other rider effects (like Save vs. Daze) on a successful CMB check? For maneuvers like Scything Strike or Silver Crane Spiral, can you make the maneuver against all targets of the maneuver (like combining Spiral and Expanded's Tempest Gale Stance for a 110' radius trip)? What about maneuvers that allow you to substitute a skill check, like Rising Zephyr Strike?

When do you need to be holding a discipline weapon in order for its bonuses (most importantly the +2 DC) to apply - is it when you attack or when the opponent makes the save? If you are wielding a discipline weapon but attacking with a different weapon, or if your discipline weapon is "Close" and you are attacking with an Armament Shield weapon for a Zweihander Sentinel (which also counts as a small shield), does the discipline weapon bonus still apply?

How long does the Warlord's Acrobatic Gambit last? I assume it's until the beginning of the Warlord's next turn, but it does not have a listed duration.

Does Cavalry Gambit's reward apply to attack rolls or damage rolls, or both?

Does Tactical Assistance apply to all Aid Another actions, or only the specific Aid Another action done as a move action as specified in the ability? For instance, if you had the Bodyguard feat, would the Warlord be able to apply his charisma bonus to the AC added to his allies through that feat? Would Bodyguard's range then increase to 30'?

Is Tactical Assistance's CHA to Aid Another optional? For instance, if you had the Bushi's bushido to add +CHA to Aid Another, which does not stack with Tactical Assistance due to the FAQs, could you revert to using the normal +2 for Aid Another and add the Bushi's ability so that your bonus becomes CHA+2?

Does Tactical Assistance stack with the halfling's "Helpful" trait (which, instead of giving a +2 to Aid Another, specifically states that the bonus becomes +4)? What about Tactical Flanker and Outflank (which also states a final bonus of +4 instead of adding to the flanking bonus)?

Does Dual Boost allow you to activate two boosts that must be activated at different times in the action? For instance, a boost that gives you +10 to speed (which must be activated before a charge) and a boost that heal after a successful attack (which must be activated after the attack has been made)?

For the Warder's Defensive Focus, are you allowed to move in any way you wish when an enemy provokes as long as you're able to strike the enemy with the AoO? For instance, if I had a 20' reach with defensive focus and an opponent tried to charge me, can I strafe so that I'm outside of his charge path before taking my AoO?

Tactical Acumen specifies both "Add" and "In place of Dexterity" in its text. Is it meant to have INT replace DEX for both Initiative and Reflex saves, or add INT to Reflex (in addition to DEX) and have INT replace DEX for Initiative?

I think Born of Steel is intended to subtract your INT modifier from opponents' crit confirmation rolls, though as-written it adds them, which makes the ability harmful for Warders.

Silver Crane

There are major text and table differences between the damaging maneuvers in the discipline. The table implies that all of the "Pinion" and "Exorcism" maneuvers should be sacred damage while the "Healing" and "Sight Debuff" ones are not, which seems to make more sense. However, the text seems to give sacred damage to more random maneuvers (including Silver Knight's Blade, a healing maneuver). Text trumps table, of course, but the text doesn't seem to make sense in regards to sacred damage. Can you clarify on which maneuvers are supposed to deal sacred damage?

All Silver Crane strikes have the [good] tag. Does this mean that these strikes are all considered good aligned for overcoming DR?

Golden Lion

If you apply Demoralizing Roar and hit a target multiple times, does the Shaken condition improve to Frightened -> Panicked as per standard fear rules?

Can the Swipe maneuvers (like Golden Swipe) move your opponents diagonally or upward? For instance, if you want to push your opponent over a 5 ft. railing and into a bottomless hole right behind the railing, can you use Golden Swipe to move him 5 ft. diagonally up-left so he goes over the railing?

Does Discipline of the Pride require your allies to meet the prerequisites for the feat that you are giving them?

If you use Discipline of the Pride to give your allies a feat that involves a choice (such as Advanced Study), can your targets make their own choice when they receive the feat, or do they have to make the same choices that you made? If they can make their own choice, can they change this choice if you grant them the feat again through another use of the maneuver, or are they stuck with their choices for one day?

If the answer to the above question is that they must choose the same thing that you've chosen, what would happen if an initiator gave, say, Martial Training III (which the initiator used to learn Ghostwalk) to level 1 soldiers with 10 Dexterity? Will the soldiers have access to Ghostwalk in this case?

Can Endurance of the Strong be used to save an ally from taking enough HP damage to reach the "dead" condition?

Does Harry the Pray allow allies to use special attack actions, such as Cleave, that takes a standard action? What about riders to the standard attack action like Vital Strike or the new Thrashing Dragon Style in expanded?

Thrashing Dragon

Do Thrashing Dragon effects (boosts and stances) that specify "...while two-weapon fighting" still work when the disciple is wielding two weapons, but is only able to attack with one (for example, on an attack of opportunity) and thus not taking penalties due to TWF?

For the "snap kick" type maneuvers, some of them specify that the initiator can inflict lethal damage if he possesses a "weapon worn on the feet". If the initiator is wearing a weapon on his feet that has its own damage and properties, would the maneuver use the foot weapon damage or would it still use unarmed strike damage?

Can Thrashing Dragon (and "...while two-weapon fighting" maneuvers) be used with Multiweapon Fighting (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/multiweapon-fighting-combat) for initiators capable of wielding more than two weapons? If so, do maneuvers that say "two weapons" still limit the initiator to two attacks?

Devastation Roll specifies "make an attack against the target's flat-footed Armor Class" rather than the standard "target is denied his DEX to AC bonus". Does that mean that the maneuver is intended to ignore Uncanny Dodge?

Iron Tortiose

I think this is how it works, but just wanted to make sure. Burnished Shell is Your BAB + Your Shield AC + D20 against Enemy CL + D20, right?

Iron Tortoise Stance specifies that you gain +5ft. reach for making attacks of opportunity. However, since you normally do not have that reach, you don't threaten those squares by PF rules (as far as I can tell), though it would still work with Combat Patrol and the Warder defensive focus as written. Is the stance meant to also increase your threatened area by +5ft. as well?

Does Iron Tortoise Stance increase natural reach or actual reach? In fact, I think it would be good to have a general ruling for all PoW effects that increase reach, so we don't end up with the Lunge argument (http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2sbe1?Reach-weapon-Lunge-Feat-and-enlarge-person).

When Aggregated Wounds state "-4 cumulative penalty", does this mean that it stacks with itself?

Scarlet Throne

Normally, shield bonuses do not stack, but Scarlet Einhander stance grants a +2 Shield Bonus to AC and Scarlet Throne is intended to let you fight with a buckler. Is it intended that the shield bonus to AC from this stance does not stack with the AC from a buckler?

Does Rising Zephyr Strike (and the higher level variations) multiply +X bonus damage from stances and boosts, such as from Night's Knife or (more potently) Devastating Momentum on a Martial Charge?

[S]Black Seraph

What is the limit on free intimidation checks for Black Seraph's Glare? As-written, you can do it as many times as you want to after you damaged someone - in essence, taking 20 on the check, which doesn't seem right. Is it meant to be a free intimidation after each attack, or 1 free intimidate per round?

Keep in mind that per the Intimidate rules, the DC increases by 5 each time you fail, so while you can get an awful lot off, as it keeps getting harder, eventually it will go out of your range entirely.

This is true, but it still means you can drop an opponent right from normal to panicked in one attack with the Soulless Gaze (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/damnation-feats/soulless-gaze-damnation) feat and another damnation feat, or keep trying until you get the number of rounds to stack to some arbitrary high value (FAQs ruled that intimidate durations stack) if you can succeed on a 1. It's just nice to have a clarification just in case, since I don't think infinite intimidates are intended.

I have actually asked about this in the past, and the answer I've gotten was that that was, indeed, how it currently functions. It'll need errata to do otherwise.

Sorry about the giant wall of questions. I've been scrutinizing the maneuvers carefully for a Warlord Bushi that I'm planning on playing, and the following is some of the stuff that I dug out.

I will answer the questions that I know (or think I know:smalltongue:) the answers to. Others, you'll just have to wait on

A: No. Maneuvers that allow combat maneuver checks will state that they allow them to be made. Otherwise, it's just an attack.

Also, I'm assuming you mean Tempest Gale Style, not Tempest Gale Stance. Tempest Gale Style specifies that you must use a standard action to make the combat maneuver check, it's not an attack.

When do you need to be holding a discipline weapon in order for its bonuses (most importantly the +2 DC) to apply - is it when you attack or when the opponent makes the save? If you are wielding a discipline weapon but attacking with a different weapon, or if your discipline weapon is "Close" [Small Shield] and you are attacking with an Armament Shield weapon for a Zweihander Sentinel (which also counts as a small shield), does the discipline weapon bonus still apply?

A: You must be using a discipline weapon as part of the strike in order to gain the discipline weapon bonus. That means that you must hit the target with the discipline weapon. It doesn't matter which discipline weapon you use, necessarily, but it has to be a discipline weapon.

How long does the Warlord's Acrobatic Gambit last? I assume it's until the beginning of the Warlord's next turn, but it does not have a listed duration.

A: The ability says
attacks against the opponent or opponents that the warlord evaded this round So it lasts until the end of the round.

A: By RAW, it only applies to the move action use of Tactical Assistance.

A: You use the higher bonus.

A: It does not stack, you use the higher bonus.

Does Dual Boost allow you to activate two boosts that must be activated at different times in the action? For instance, a boost that gives you +10 to speed (which must be activated before a charge) and a boost that heal after a successful attack (which must be activated after the attack has been made)?

A: Yes, you can activate two boosts that have different activation requirements. It's a bit like holding the charge on a touch spell, it goes off once you meet the trigger effect of the boost.

A: There's nothing strictly preventing that, although I'd say that any FAQ regarding Combat Patrol (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/combat-patrol-combat) and this situation would apply as well.

Tactical Acumen specifies both "Add" and "In place of Dexterity" in its text. Is it meant to have INT replace DEX for both Initiative and Reflex saves, or add INT to Reflex (in addition to DEX) and have INT replace DEX for Initiative?

A: It should be a replacement.

I think Born of Steel is intended to subtract your INT modifier from opponents' crit confirmation rolls, though as-written it adds them, which makes the ability harmful for Warders.

A: I believe this is on the docket for the errata document, but thanks for mentioning it anyway. It should subtract your INT from your enemy's crit confirmation roll, or rather, add INT to your AC for the roll.

A: When in doubt (and until ErrantX comes along and corrects me) go by what the specific maneuver's description says.

If you apply Demoralizing Roar and hit a target multiple times, does the Shaken condition improve to Frightened -> Panicked as per standard fear rules?

A: We'll be fixing the wording on Demoralizing Roar, but by RAW if they fail multiple saves the effect does progress.

A: Diagonally, yes. Provided it does not exceed the maximum forced movement provided by the maneuver (such as moving into difficult terrain). Up I'm not so sure about, and in the specific scenario you mentioned I'd probably say that exceeds the maximum movement distance of the maneuver (5 ft. to the left, 5 ft. up, over the railing considered difficult terrain making it 15 ft. total).

Does Discipline of the Pride require your allies to meet the prerequisites for the feat that you are giving them?

A: By RAW, they need to meet the requirements of the feat in order to use it.

A: I'd say that they're allowed to make their own choice. However, like the Paragon Surge spell, once that choice is made it can't be changed throughout the day.

A: They're allowed to make their own choice, until you hear otherwise.

Can Endurance of the Strong be used to save an ally from taking enough HP damage to reach the "dead" condition?

A: Yes. If you can grant them enough hit points to do so.

Does Harry the Pray allow allies to use special attack actions, such as Cleave, that takes a standard action? What about riders to the standard attack action like Vital Strike or the new Thrashing Dragon Style in expanded?

A: Any effect which can be applied to a standard or attack action attack can be used with the attacks granted by Harry the Pray.

Do Thrashing Dragon effects (boosts and stances) that specify "...while two-weapon fighting" still work when the disciple is wielding two weapons, but is only able to attack with one (for example, on an attack of opportunity) and thus not taking penalties due to TWF?

A: No.

A: Like always, you use the damage of the weapon you're attacking with. If you have a weapon on your foot, you use the foot weapon.

A: By RAW, yes they can be used with Multiweapon Fighting. You're still limited to the number of attacks specified by the maneuver.

Devastation Roll specifies "make an attack against the target's flat-footed Armor Class" rather than the standard "target is denied his DEX to AC bonus". Does that mean that the maneuver is intended to ignore Uncanny Dodge?

A: By RAW, yes.

I think this is how it works, but just wanted to make sure. Burnished Shell is Your BAB + Your Shield AC + D20 against Enemy CL + D20, right?

A: Correct.

Iron Tortoise Stance specifies that you gain +5ft. reach for making attacks of opportunity. However, since you normally do not have that reach, you don't threaten those squares by PF rules (as far as I can tell), though it would still work with Combat Patrol and the Warder defensive focus as written. Is the stance meant to also increase your threatened area by +5ft. as well?

A: Yes, it should increase your threatened area as well.

A: We're working on that. Unfortunately, the reach rules are just a mess.

When Aggregated Wounds state "-4 cumulative penalty", does this mean that it stacks with itself?

A: Yes.

Normally, shield bonuses do not stack, but Scarlet Einhander stance grants a +2 Shield Bonus to AC and Scarlet Throne is intended to let you fight with a buckler. Is it intended that the shield bonus to AC from this stance does not stack with the AC from a buckler?

A: Well, firstly "intended to work with a buckler" is strong phrasing. Scarlet Throne is shield neutral. So the shield bonus does not stack.

Does Rising Zephyr Strike (and the higher level variations) multiply +X bonus damage from stances and boosts, such as from Night's Knife or (more potently) Devastating Momentum on a Martial Charge?

A: This has been answered before, but bonus damage from maneuvers is never multiplied.

if a brutal slayer uses brutal assault to gain brutal strikes (BRUTALITY!) against an enemy and scores a critical hit during the effect, does he then activate his full brutal strikes class feature?

A:
If you get a crit while using brutal assault, you get your full brutal strikes bonus. This should also be in the FAQ thread for easy reference.

You're brutally welcome. :smallfurious::smalltongue:

Psionics Expanded

For the purpose of qualifying for Style feats such as Pummeling Style where the brawler's flurry class feature, or flurry of blows class feature is a prerequisite.

Do the Soulknife Deadly Fist Flurry of Blows blade skill

or

the Psy War Meditant 6th Flurry of Strikes fulfill this prereq

note that Psionics Expanded has a copyright 2011 & Pummeling Style is from the ACG copyright 2014. These Style feats came about after Psionics Expanded was published. So it was not possible to address the issue of Style feat compatibility at the time Psionics Expanded was published.

RAW, no, since they have different names and no text saying they count as other abilities for that purpose. Not an unreasonable house rule though.

[Akashic Mysteries] Question 1: How do natural weapons (such as the Nameer's claws) interact with Veils such as Wrathful Claws? I'm guessing that the higher damage dice (veil) takes priority over the lower (natural weapon), but I'm not entirely sure.

Question 2: Do you have any plans for a Veil like the 3.5 Soulmeld Sphinx Claws (Pounce when bound)?

[Path of War] Question 1: What's your ruling on natural attacks (such as claws) combined with the class features of the Dervish Defender Warder? If you had two claw attacks, would they function as weapons for the purposes of Two-Weapon Defense and Shield of Blades?

Question 2: Path of War seems to have a plethora of Maneuver Options but a dearth of Class Options for Natural Weapon builds. Is this intentional?

Question 3: Are there any plans for another meatshield PoW class? I'm a big fan of the Warder and to a lesser extent the Warlord, but there's only so much you can do with them.

Question 4 (final one, mildly off topic): Do you folks know of any sites or programs that support making maneuver cards (like Spell Cards, but you know, with Maneuvers?)

I hope these hopelessly specific questions aren't too much of a bother to ya'll.

Path of War

I seem to remember the general "discipline weapon only" restriction being removed from Broken Blade maneuvers during the beta, and only being applied on a case by case basis. The rule was replaced with a bonus for using discipline weapons instead. However, on both the SRD, and my PDF of Path of War, the Broken Blade section specifically says that the maneuvers can only be initiated with discipline weapons. Am I misremembering? Is my copy of the pdf outdated? Was there an errata I missed? I got my PDF through Drivethru RPG, if that helps.

There's actually only one discipline (Broken Blade) that has Natural as one of its discipline weapon groups.

Well, there's the Zealot in the PoW:E playtest. If anything, they're more of a meatshield than the Warder; once per round they can take on the damage that an ally would have taken from an attack, and can spend PP to reduce that damage.

1) The more beneficial of the two options is used. They overlap, not stack. Since the essence and bind effects both apply to the claw attacks granted by the veil, it's probably not the best option for someone who already has a good claw attacks from another source.

2) Currently no. The Vengeance daevic gets a type of pseudo-Pounce that procs off of Bull Rush and only applies to natural attacks, so if a veil did grant a pounce type ability, it would probably use that as a guidepost (not necessarily the Bull Rush part, but being specific to natural attacks, or possibly veil attacks). I actually prefer to keep true pounce out of the akashic system without multiclassing into a Barbarian or psionic class, because a straight-classed veilweaver has enough binds and slots to break that wide open and destroy reasonable DPR caps.

Temporal Body Adjustment
" You may initiate this counter when you would be affected by a negative condition (such as being cursed, dazed, paralyzed, or sickened), or are affected by a negative condition."

Dead is listed as a condition. Would TBA counter death from HP loss? As in negate the last effect, spell, power or melee strike that caused the character to die? Would necromantic death effects be treated any differently than other forms of HP damage? Or would it negate all damage taken in the last round? It may be best to specifically exempt Dead from the conditions nullified.

The maneuver summary states "Negate any one negative condition that affects the disciple or ally within 60-ft. But the full description states "Range: Personal". Is this personal only or can it affect allies?

" end any one such condition currently affecting you. " Is there any limit to the timeframe in which this will work?
ie. Say I have been wearing Boots of Dancing for a week and have not been in any combats and therefore do not know the item is cursed. Combat begins, "oh sh^&$&".

"By reversing the flow of your personal Hourglass, you can turn back time, undoing a harmful event."
Can I use TBA to turn back time to a week ago when I first put the boots on?

A: You cannot remove the dead condition with Temporal Body Adjustment because dead creatures cannot take actions. The wording for Temporal Body Adjustment should exclude the conditions "Dead, Dying, Helpless and Unconscious." As for the range, it is Personal, whenever there is conflict between the short version and long version of a maneuver use the long version.

There is not currently a time limit on how far back Temporal Body Adjustment will go, but it should (and will likely) be limited to one round.

The Bannerman Warlord archetype trades away their first level bonus feat for a scaling +1 / 4 Initiator levels Dodge bonus to AC when fighting with a weapon held in one hand and an empty offhand or offhand using a buckler or banner.

However, the effect does not list a 'Min:1' effect so the character loses their first bonus feat for a bonus that they do not recieve until 4th level.

Is this intentional or should the minimum bonus be +1?

You can make a critical hit with a strike, but you do not multiply extra damage from a strike when calculating the critical hit damage.

Searchable PDFs are great. I recommend getting ahold of one somehow. But then, this is also on the PFSRD (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/path-of-war/systems-and-use); ctrl-F "critical", it's the fourth and fifth results.

There is, however, nothing about whether the extra damage from a boost, counter, or stance that provides extra damage is multiplied on a critical hit.

Path of War:

Is bonus damage (whether flat or rolled) from stances, counters, and boosts multiplied on a critical hit? The line "It is treated just as extra damage from another special ability would be (like deadly strike damage or damage from a flaming weapon)" from the same paragraph as I quoted above implies that such bonus damage is not, since boosts, counters, and stances all fall into the category of "another special ability", but the text is not entirely clear since the descriptions for boosts, counters, and stances lack similar clauses about not multiplying bonus damage.

ETA: Found it.

you do not multiply the extra damage from a maneuver on a successful critical hit.

It's in the description of touch-range maneuvers, but it does not state that it is a rule specific to touch maneuvers so it applies to all types of maneuvers.

Thanks.

Bump. I'm sorry if it was answered already, couldn't find it.

Additionally, how does it work if DM rolls dice behind the screen or in PBP when asking "I rolled 15. Do you want to use a counter?" can potentially extend one round of combat by two days?

In the expanded system and use document, it says that the original classes can add one of two new disciplines to their list, then it goes to say that archetypes can add one of two (usually different) disciplines. A: Per the Pow: E systems and use document:

When adding a new discipline to an existing class (stalker, warder, and warlord as well as with pathwalker psychic warriors and war soul soulknives), each class will give a choice of what new discipline to add to its list of available disciplines. In the case of archetypes (such as the soul hunter archetype for the stalker class), use the additions listed specifically for the archetype, not the base version of the class (in this above example, a soul hunter stalker would add Cursed Razor, and would not have the option to choose between Riven Hourglass or Tempest Gale).

What Warder/Warlord archetypes can be taken with the Hussar template?
Additionally, how does being mounted interact with Defensive Focus?

A1: Archetypes list what they trade out for each ability they gain, and class templates list what abilities the class loses in exchange for the abilities of the class template. It's not hard to check.

A2: By RAW, you occupy every square that your mount does, so your Defensive Focus extends as though you were occupying 4+ squares. As far as I'm aware, there's no ruling from Paizo on how Combat Patrol interacts with mounts (Combat Patrol being the feat that Defensive Focus is based on), but given that the ability breaks down unless you either dismount or your mount can move with you, I'm going to say that you can have your mount take the movement for combat patrol, but you would still need to make the Attacks of Opportunity.

Whips were ranged attacks in 3.0. 3.5 and pathfinder have whips as Melee reach weapons with 15' reach and various limitations as far as provoking and armored opponents(PF makes them somewhat usable with the Whip Mastery feat line)

A whip deals nonlethal damage. It deals no damage to any creature with an armor bonus of +1 or higher or a natural armor bonus of +3 or higher. The whip is treated as a melee weapon with 15-foot reach, though you don’t threaten the area into which you can make an attack. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, you can use it against foes anywhere within your reach (including adjacent foes).

Using a whip provokes an attack of opportunity, just as if you had used a ranged weapon.

You can make trip attacks with a whip. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the whip to avoid being tripped.

When using a whip, you get a +2 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to disarm an opponent (including the roll to keep from being disarmed if the attack fails).

You can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to attack rolls with a whip sized for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon for you.

The 'as a ranged weapon' is in its own, single sentence paragraph that only applies to provoking AOO when attacking(Until you pick up Whip Mastery (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/whip-mastery-combat). Its an exception to the paragraph above it where it defines the whip as a melee reach weapon with 15' reach.

Here's the summary of whip: One-handed exotic Melee weapon, with disarm, nonlethal, reach and trip. Exceptions given in the weapon desc are as follows: No damage to targets with an armor bonus of +1 or a NA bonus of +3 (or greater). 15 foot reach that does *not* threaten, and can attack adjacent targets. Its provokes AoO when attacking, as per ranged weapons. It is finessable even though it is not a light weapon.

Whip Mastery: Removes provoking AOO, allows lethal damage, cancels the no damage to armored targets.

Improved Whip Mastery: Threaten your natural reach +5' with the whip. Also grab objects with the whip, and use it as a grapple hook.

Greater Whip Mastery: Never drop the whip on failed disarm or trip. Grapple targets with the whip

Currently the stance allows an extra move or standard action.

Which means the character can
a) full attack +move or strike + 1 counter or boost
b) 2 strikes + move + 1 counter or boost

With my suggested change "character gains 1 and only 1 additional swift immediate move or standard action "
a) full attack +move or strike + counter or boost
b) 2 strikes + move + 1 counter or boost
c) full attack +2 counters or boosts
d) 1 strike +2 counters or boosts

I understands that adding options is adding power, but I just don't see the logic of excluding the immediate or swifts as they represent a smaller usage of the characters time than a standard.

Unless you are saying that using 2 boosts or 2 counters in a round is more powerful than using 2 strikes.

Are 2 boosts or counters in a round more powerful than 2 strikes? If so then the stance should stay as is because it is powerful already.

"Giving an extra swift for a maneuver that costs a swift means the maneuver costs nothing and isn't OK."
It only costs a swift to begin the stance. If you are already in it it costs nothing to maintain. So I don't understand what you are saying there.

"Because that would be the equivalent of dual strike+dual boost/dual counter."

It currently is the equivalent of dual strike. The proposed change would make it dual strike or dual counter/boost. Not dual strike + dual boost/counter

I view an additional standard action as more powerful than an additional swift or immediate. But I may be wrong.

Just trying to help out with a product that I thoroughly enjoy.

a) Elemental Destruction Ring maneuver from Elemental Flux. Is the initiator immune to their own damage?

I'll leave it to Elric for Warpaths but no, you don't suffer damage from your own maneuver.

If a Soulknife places the Lucky enhancement on their mind blade, do they only get one reroll per day or do they get a new reroll each time they reform their mind blade (e.g. after it has left their hand without being thrown)?

Per day - it would be grossly overpowered any other way and that subverts the way the enchantment works otherwise.

This question is also relevant to the Soul Archer, because it creates new ammunition (which normally can be enchanted with Lucky for lots of rerolls).

Treat lucky as if the "bow" had it (since soul archer specifically calls out that ammo create is fired as if from a composite bow, so this "bow" would imbue the enhancements to its ammo), not the ammo. Again - absurd amounts of re-rolls subverts the enchantment into imbalanced mechanics.

I can't seem to find this anywhere, which may just be me being blind, so I'm gonna ask.

Path of War

Does using a Barbarian's Rage class feature prohibit you from initiating maneuvers and stances?

A: No, it does not. It's been asked before, but there will be a section addressing it in PoW:E.

OK. I'm just bad at finding things pertinent to my situation, so I felt that asking would be easier than screwing around for half an hour trying to find the answer. Thanks for the response.

Is there any point in writing tactical acumen down on my hawkguard warder's sheet? Hawkguards will almost always have more Dex than Int (outside of some method to use Int for atttack), and the archetype does not seem to replace it.

I wrote it down. I'm pumping my INT a bit higher than my dex on my Hawkguard because Tempest Gale stance gives INT to damage with ranged weapons.

Ah, haven't gotten that high yet, just got permission to retrain into tempest gale. Fair point, though you still need to hit for the damage to matter, I suppose on standard action strikes that isn't as much of a problem since you aren't eating rapid shot and iterative penalties. Not going to be a big difference unless you are using firearms though, I would imagine.

The only time I miss is when I'm using Horizon Wind Lancet.
