greetings all,
i might be needing a new character for a pathfinder game soon, and was thinking of a shield bashing two-weapon fighter. And yes, i have already looked up plenty of stuff on this, i would like advice on my current build. The focus of this build is a little more defensive type fighter then damage dea
For weapons, i was thinking (spiked) heavy shield in main hand and light weapon in off hand, instead of a one-handed weapon and a light shield. I would guess the damage is about the same on average, but you get 1 more AC that way and shield bashing is the focus of the build.
About the two-weapon warrior archetype, i was thinking yes. Though i am wondering, when i get improved balance, i will (probably) also take shield master, which already takes away the -2 on the shield's attacks when full rounding, so do i go for a one-handed weapon in the off hand, or take the less penalty on it?
For race, i'd rather not go human, orc or elf for roll-playing purposes, so probably half elf. And i was thinking to put the +2 on DEX. advice here?
And for feats, this is my current build:
1: Two-weapon fighting; improved shield bask
2: shield focus
3: double slice
4: weapon focus (shield)
5: weapon specialisation (shield)
6: power attack
7: improved two-weapon fighting
8: shield slam
9: greater weapon focus (shield)
10: greater shield focus
11: shield master
12: greater two-weapon fighting
13: greater weapon specialisation (shield)
14: penetrating strike
15: weapon focus (off hand weapon)
16: greater penetrating strike
17: weapon specialisation (off hand weapon)
18: greater weapon focus (off hand weapon)
19: greater weapon specialisation (off hand weapon)
20: combat reflexes
So, any advice? Any rearranging the feats around? Or adding/removing? I was also thinking of (greater) shield specialization, but it didn't really seem worth it. Neither did saving shield, bashing finish nor two-weapon rend. What is the rest of the thoughts on this?
I was also thinking the ray shield line of feats, but the disruptive and spell breaker don't tickle my fancy and missile shield seems to be not so useful when not going to ray shield as i'll be having high AC anyway, right?
Also, is double slice actually worth it? And what if we start at later level, like level 10, would double slice then still be worth it?
What off hand weapon do i go for. I was thinking kukri for the higher crit range, what say you?
And what enchantments do i get for the weapons. Shield master adds that shield bonus things to weapon and damage rolls for the shield, but that's only from level 11 onwards...
I appreciate all advice, except the kind in the line of 'just play a cleric instead'. Sources allowed are (probably) only core rule book and advanced player's guide.
friendly regards,
Raezeman
