Eh. I didn't really like either of the books. The concept is good, but I don't really like the actually writing or the way the characters are written.

Great book. I can't find the second one though. I know it's out but no book store near me has it. I'm pissed. BTW what's happening where you're at? I haven't read it in about a year or half a year. Around that time period.

Who's the author and what's the genre?

I really enjoy reading fantasy and sci-fi books and would be glad to give this "Lightning Thief" a try.

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan, is a fantasy about a boy who learns he is the son of Poesidon and is sent to a summer camp for divine progeny (and there are many). Being the son of one of the three most powerful gods in the Greek pantheon, he is obligated to go on a quest to save the world by finding Zeus's missing thunderbolt. I find it very similar to Harry Potter.

Not bad, not bad at all. Really into Greek stuff now what with 300 and all, and I've been nosing around for the sequel.

I thought it was an excellent book, and the sequel was good, but not as good. It's a shame he targeted young teens for the age group, because I think it would also make a great adult fiction. I especially like the way Rick Riordan transforms the old greek gods into modern ones. I'm waiting for the third... and apparently someone's making a movie of it.
For some reason, it seems to be more popular over here then in the US, where Rick Riordan lives... odd.

I finished the book and it was great! I'm on to the second book now (pg. 97) and about the movie, it is'nt 100% sure of being made yet, if it is the director is going to be the same guy that made harry potter. The third book is out now as soon as I finish the sea of monsters I'm gonna read it.

Wait I thought that was #2. If that's #3, then what's the title of #2?
