hey playground! i gonna DM a 4th level pathfinder game this saturday and i create the character for one of the players (he told me what he wants to play and prefers that i create the character for him).

He wants to play a sorcerer that uses fire and wind magic in range, but can also fight in melee and use a staff/similar weapon and combine it with magic. the first part is easy, just know some blast spells and maybe gust of wind, but the melee part is harder.
We use 15 point buy, so with human that gets +2 to two abilitys he can have 16 CHA and CON and 14 STR without dumping all the other stats. for bloodline i thought about primal elemental (fire) and also take the Eldritch Scrapper architype because arcane strike/combat casting/power attack seems much better than the ray attack.

as you can see i'm a bit clueless on the subject and need advice in order to make a fun character. I'm not sure if 16 CHA is actually that helpful, and I think he would like some other way other than arcane strike to "combine" melee attack and spells. spell storing weapon could do that, but he can't actually afford one at 4th level..
Help would be appreciated ^^

How about a Staff Magus (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus/archetypes/paizo---magus-archetypes/staff-magus)?

If he's not set on the staff: The dragon bloodline (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer/bloodlines/bloodlines-from-paizo/draconic-bloodline) gives a sorcerer the ability to grow claws for melee combat. Otherwise, the Magus (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus) is the class to mix magic and martial combat. If you are willing to allow this, the Bladebound (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus/archetypes/paizo---magus-archetypes/bladebound) archetype could be added for an automatically scaling magic weapon (the weapon usually has to be a one-handed slashing weapon).

Humans (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races/human#TOC-Standard-Racial-Traits) gain +2 to only one ability score, unless you are playing with house rules which are changing this.

He's probably using the alt. trait that gives humans 2 stat bumps anywhere, but nothing else.
Edit: Dual Talent, that's what it's called.

I second draconic because you can add +1 to damage per dice rolled for fire spells. Pick up burning hands, then claws in melee. Brutal (abyssal) bloodline adds +2 damage to any damage spell and gives claws as well. Eldritch scrapper is good but there are a lot of feats to choose from. Pick a dozen or so unless this player really knows pathfinder. Then they can take the claws from draconic or brutal as as their 3rd level power. If they want a weapon, stormborn and boreal give shock and frost to weapons, respectively but I still lean towards staff magus to use a magic weapon.

I second this, it's probably the closest solution.

There is a sorcerer like magus with a bloodline Eldritch Scion, but reading it briefly it looks a little bad.

He may be able to get more mileage out of a synthesist summoner using the elemental template from unchained. Sure, you spend an episode powering up to your final form, but once there he can have a martial caster with all sorts of elemental imbued fun.

Do you allow 3.5 material, and if so what about an Eldritch Glaive/Claws Warlock?

thanks for the quick replys!

for some reason i thought he didn't liked the magus class so i ignored it. I asked again and he is ok with it, so staff magus it is! he specifically wanted a staff for fluff reasons so claws and the like couldn't fit, but thanks anyway for the help
