So when do you think Haley's subplot with her father will be expanded upon?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's brought up, at least in passing, very soon, since they'll likely needs funds to raise Roy. It may not be expanded on but at least mentioned.

This, basically.

After the conclusion of the battle arc. It's a generally accepted theory round here that the Lord Tyrinar holding Starshine Sr. is the same general who is Nale and Elan's father, that his kingdom is on the Western continent, and that the ensuing ****storm when the Order goes after Girard's Gate there will form the next major story arc.

I agree, we're not gonna find out more about Ian Starshine until this whole 'war' thing gets resolved. And I for one am not yet convinced that Lord Tyrinar is Elan and Nale's father; that's even more cliche than some of Nale's 'master plans'.

I'm not saying it's impossible, just that I'm not expecting it to be the case. I'm hoping The Giant surprises us- kinda the way he surprised us with Roy's broken neck.

Hmm. Perhaps the death of Roy is a convenient way of paving the way to putting Haley in the limelight for that particular story-arc.

We'll see...

Am I the only one who thinks it might just be easier for her to get Belkar to kill the guy who kidnapped her father?

But he has to get that from somewhere dosn't he? Perhaps from a cliche villan, like father like son they say :P.

Makes sense to me!

I had a great idea... Oh yeah!

Did you ever think that Elan's mentor could be Haley's father? He was Scoundrelous, and wasn't a good fighter UNTIL he became a Dashing Swordsman.

Except he doesn't really look like the father in the flashback...

Scoundrel can't be Haley's dad. There's a pic of Scoundrel when he's younger in comic 389 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0389.html) which is shown when Scoundrel and Elan first meet, and it shows him with black hair. Haley's dad clearly has red hair.

By the way, I've noticed something about this poll. Does it ask when do we THINK she is going to rescue her father or when do we WANT it?

I thought a little about that. Voted for the second one

If it comes to be Elan's and Nale's father, wouldn't it be interesting if he thinks Elan is Nale? That would surely lead to something crazy- don't know if good or bad, though.

Wouldn't it more likely be the reverse? As Nale is lacking his trademark Goatee.

Well he hasn't seen Elan in a couple decades, so for all he knows, Elan has a full beard and Nale's the one with the sissy facial hair.

In fact I'd daresay he hasn't seen any of them both in quite a while..

To be honest, I'd always thought Nale killed his father.

Maybe it'll turn out Tyrinar is actually quite a nice fellow and its the chancellor who's the villain (and Elan/Nale's dad)? Thus he'll let Ian Starshien go.
