If you are more than comfortable travelling through familiar lands, and you are more comfortable in getting familiar with any sort of land. Unlike a ranger, you don’t have any favored terrain. Whenever you make an Intelligence, Wisdom, Strength or Dexterity check related to intuit knowledge of your current environment, you can apply half proficiency bonus to a skill when you don't have any, at the DM discretion. EX: you know how to handle a fir to lift it, you know how to swim in the waves even if you don't have athletics skill because you studied the sea...
