Hi.

It grows.

It spreads.

What is a wondrous? It's an item that doesn't fall under rings, armor, or weapons. So... things like headbands and gogo boots of dexxterity. They have a slot (or no slot, for extra cost), an effect, a price, a casting slot, and some building requirements.

Please price them properly. OP items means less people will allow them in games.

Threadnaught's Bag of Mundane Objects
Price: 450 GP.
Body Slot: -
Caster Level: 9th.
Aura: Moderate; DC 20 Conjuration.
Activation: Move (manipulation)
Weight: 1/2 lb.

This ratty looking gray bag, patched with brown, looks much like something that any respectable adventurer will eventually possess. However you can, as a move action, reach into it and pull out any single mundane object. Only 400 GP worth of objects can be pulled free from a Bag of Mundane Objects, at which point it becomes inert, simply another patched up adventurer's sack.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Major Creation
Cost to Create: 225 GP, 18 XP, 1 day.

I give my permission AND my 2 copper pieces.

Some Magic Items might be worth a thread of their own, Artifacts both Major and Minor, epic Magic Items, and Golems (as Constructs are Magic Items is one of the things I most preach on these boards. :smalltongue:).

Edit: It occurs that Intelligent Magic Items might be substantial enough to merit their own home too. Especially considering the 'personality' each is supposed to have. Legacy Weapons as well maybe.

I guess you can make artifacts. It's less useful if players can't build them, though.

Red Fel's Kitten Cage
Held Wondrous Item
Once per day, you may extract one cat from this cage, and toss it up to 30 feet. The cat is automatically fiendish, and will attack anyone nearby, because it's evil.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Summon Monster I or Summon Nature's Ally I
Cost to Create: 1000 GP, 40 XP, 1 day.

Afgn's Cap of Wilderness Survival
Price: 1000 GP
Body Slot: Head
Caster Level: 9th
Aura: moderate divination; detect plants & animals, detect snares & pits.
Weight: 1/4 lb
This cloth cap allows it's wearer to detect any suitable shelter, edible and non-poisonous food, and clean water that exists within a 5 mile radius. It will only detect shelter that would be appropriate for the creature wearing the cap. An ogre wearing the cap would not detect an abandoned rabbit-hole, but a pixie would.

Anchovies' Vest of Bones
Price: 7,200 GP.
Body Slot: Torso
Caster Level: 5th.
Aura: Weak; DC 18 Necromancy.
Activation: Standard (manipulation)
Weight: 1/4 lb * remaining charges.

This vest looks to be made from the ribs of various creatures. Each Vest of Bones has 24 ribs and 24 charges when it is made. As a standard action the wearer can pry one of the ribs from the material and toss it (expending a charge) causing it to transform into the wearer's choice of a troll skeleton or large shark skeleton. This creature is completely under the control of whoever is wearing the vest of bones, acting immediately as they are directed, and after 5 rounds transforms back into a completely inert rib.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Items, Summon Undead III or Animate Dead.
Cost to Create: 3,600 GP and 488 XP.

Two for you, Snowbluff.

Glove of the Snowy Bluff

This glove is made out of a soft, pale leather, inscribed with snowflakes. Three times per day, as a standard action, the wearer of the glove can conjure a snowball. This conjuration is instantaneous, functions within an antimagic field, and cannot be dispelled. The snow is perfectly mundane except in one respect - unlike ordinary snow, the snowball does not melt normally. It remains until it is used for some purpose, such as being thrown, being used as a material component for spells, or being snacked upon.

If a person possesses two Gloves of the Snowy Bluff, each one grants its uses per day separately, for a total of six uses per day. Gloves of the Snowy Bluff are not traditionally found in pairs.

Moderate conjuration; CL 5th; Craft Wondrous Item, Snowcasting, Snowdrift; Price 1,000 gp.

Powder of Obsession

This small pouch appears to contain Dust of Appearance. In fact, however, it contains a potent mind-affecting chemical. When a target is exposed to the powder, it must make a DC 15 Fortitude save. If it fails this save, roll 1d4. On a 2-4, the target becomes psychotically, romantically possessive of the first creature it sees. On a 1, it becomes obsessed with the person who threw the dust. (Note that the first creature it sees could still be the one who used the dust.) The target can make a new save once a day. If this save is successful, the effect ends. If the creature fails this save for seven days straight, the effect becomes permanent, unless removed with a Remove Curse spell. This is a mind-affecting effect.

Faint conjuration; CL 7th; Craft Wondrous Item, Charm Person, Touch of Madness; Price 2,400 gp.

Price: 12,000 GP.
Body Slot: Waist
Caster Level: 12th.
Aura: Strong; DC 19 Enchantment.
Activation: Swift (command word)
Weight: -.

This red silk sash is made to be worn around the waist. While worn it can be activated with a swift word, inducing rage and anger in nearby creatures forcing them to attack you. When you use this sash all creatures within 15-ft of you must make a Will save (DC 19) or have their attitude towards you reduced by 1 grade and be unable to make attacks which do not include you among their target unless they're an attack of opportunity, they lack line of sight or line of effect towards you, or you're dead; this effect lasts 1 minute. You may only activate the sash 3 times per day.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Rage, Caster Level 12th.
Cost to Create: 6000 GP and 480 XP.

Body Slot: Torso
Caster Level: 3rd.
Aura: Weak; DC 16 Abjuration.
Activation: Constant
Weight: 1/2 lb.

This red tabard with the insignia of a hawk in black upon it repels blood from the user. No matter how bloody the battle the wearer will always emerge clean of blood. In addition abilities which function by bleeding on the wearer, such as acidic blood, do not function on the wearer unless the wearer directly attacks with a natural weapon as the tabard repels the blood before it can touch the wearer.

Elric's Bracers of Initiation
Price: 65,000 GP.
Body Slot: Arms
Caster Level: 15th.
Aura: Strong; DC 20 Divination.
Activation: - and 1 minute.
Weight: 1/2 lb.

These electrum bracers take the form of a pair of stylized representations of chain weapons tying together as they interweave around the wearer's arms. While worn the wearer gains a +2 insight bonus to attack rolls made as part of Strikes. In addition once per day the wearer may spend 1 minute in concentration to store up to three different martial maneuvers into the bracers (this expends these maneuvers). After which any creature wearing the bracers which meets their prerequisites (they do not need to meet minimum IL) can use these maneuvers as if they had them readied and unexpended; doing so empties the bracers of the used maneuver.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Martial Lore 8 ranks or Knowledge (Martial) 5 ranks, True Strike, Moment of Prescience.
Cost to Create: 32,500 GP and 2600 XP.

Pricing things is hard. Took Crown of White Raven of the highest level and added a bit since this holds 3 maneuvers making it theoretically three times as good, and lets you get around the 1 instance of a maneuver readied at a time rule, but is used 1/day instead of 1/encounter. Then added some for the +2 to attack rolls. Then waffled about price back and forth for a bit and said eh 65k.

Sashimono (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sashimono) of Paladinic Loyalty
Price: 50,000 GP.
Body Slot: None (worn on pole on back)
Caster Level: 7th.
Aura: Moderate; DC 19 Abjuration.
Activation: -
Weight: 3 lb.

This war banner designed to be worn on a special pole attached to the back of armor proudly displays the holy symbol of a Lawful Good deity. When worn by a Lawful aligned worshiper of that deity the bearer gains a +4 competence bonus on Will saves versus Compulsion effects, and when worn by a Good aligned worshiper of that deity allies of the wearer (other than the wearer) within 20-ft that worship that god gain the same bonus (when worn by a Lawful Good worshiper the wearer and all allies within 20-ft gain it). When worn by a paladin (of honor) who worships that deity the bearer gains immunity to Compulsion, Good or Lawful Neutral aligned allies within 30-ft gain a +4 bonus on Will saves versus Compulsion (even if they do not worship the designated deity), and the paladin's Aura of Courage expands out to 30-ft as well.

But... what happens if the wearer sustains a bleeding wound? Or is that only a problem for the cursed version?

(I'm hardly a regular, but permission granted, anyway.)

It repels blood from it, either it would let blood spill from the wound and then repel it once it'd get past the tabard having no special effect here.

Or it would force the blood back into the body preventing blood lost. I thought about doing that, but it'd have to cost more and I wasn't sure how much more.

Probably a greater version which makes you immune to bleed damage and costs... um... I don't know.

Now a cursed version would shoot blood up out of a bleeding wound doubling any bleed damage while the tabard begins speaking in the voice of King Arthur mocking you loudly with "What are you going to do bleed on me?" The voice serving to alert monsters to your presence making random encounters more likely.

Doesn't actually simulate Sending, it's function is closer to a worse at-will CL 7 Whispering Wind (cost 2000 x 7 x 2 = 28,000 GP) but you need 2 to even get that advantage and it's still a worse version. I might still have low balled it, but it takes cleverness to use and even then it's not guaranteed to be useful.

I'm here. As always.
Lord Gareth's Fur Mantle of Beast-Slaying
Price: 50,000
Body Slot: shoulders
Caster Level: 14
Aura: Strong transmutation; hold monster, bane
Activation: see text
Weight: 1 lb
This fur mantle is made of the hide's of vicious animals. Twice a day, as a swift action it's wearer can activate it to give a +2 on attack and damage rolls against animals and magical beasts for 1 minute. In addition to this power the mantle collects the souls of the animals and magical beasts that it's wearer slays. It begins empty of souls but becomes more powerful as it collects more.
0-10 souls: no effect.
11-30 souls: the wearer gains 3 extra experience points for every animal or magical beast they slay.
31-45 souls: the wearer can detect any living animals or magical beasts within 100 feet and how many hit points they currently possess.
46-60 souls: animals and magical beasts within 40 feet of the wearer gain a -2 luck modifier to AC and saving throws.
61-80 souls: the wearer gains DR 10/magic against the attacks of animals and magical beasts.
81+ souls: the wearer can cast hold monster 2/day with a caster level of 10 and a save DC equal to 15+ the wearers wisdom modifier but it only effects animals and magical beasts.

Not sure if this is OP or not, if you ever use it you should consider making it more expensive.

Man, what is it with you guys and giving me Initiating themed stuff? I have no idea where you could have come up with the idea that I like initiating.:smalltongue:

It's a nice item. A great way to stash some good utility maneuvers like Beat the Clock, or fun stuff you'd like to use twice in a row, like every 9th level maneuver ever.

Items, you say? Well, here's permission.

Eggynack's Feather Token: Druid
Price: 20,000 GP.
Body Slot: -
Caster Level: 11th.
Aura: Strong Conjuration;
Activation: Command Word
Weight: -.

This small feather has been specially attuned to one or more circles of Druids, allowing them to call upon each other for aid for a short time. However, in order to cut down on costs, the feather tokens are not attuned to any one specific druid. Instead they select one random druid and transport them to a space adjacent to the creature that spoke the command word. These druids are almost invariably summoned while napping, and it takes them the rest of the round to awaken once summoned. The summon effect lasts for one minute before the Druid returns to their original location. During this time, the summoned druid will cast up to three spells who's total spell level does not exceed 6, although the summoner will have to provide any expensive material components.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Summon Nature's Ally VI, Caster Level 11th.
Cost to Create: 10,000 GP

Eggynack likes druids, and everybody likes feather tokens so I made a feather token that turns into a druid. The bit about the druid usually napping was because of the thing about sleeping creatures automatically failing their saves that's cropped up on these boards before. I probably messed up the pricing pretty good, but whatevs.

Glove of the Snowy Bluff
Oh, neat. It being a standard action limits it's usefulness for spellcasting, but it doubles as a source of water. It should be handy in dry climates.

Powder of Obsession

Hahaha! I'm wondering why anyone would want to make that say, if they've become obsessed. :smalltongue:

It's like a Bag of Tricks, but evil and hazardous to commoners!

Yay!

Uh huh. You can:

1) Throw it at commoners.
2) Throw it down a trapped hallway. It'll run back to you to attack and therefore trigger some trapped.
3) Throw it somewhere to find a creature.

Nice Kilala picture, by the way.

Snowbluff's Mask of Sublime Wrath
Price: 14,000
Body Slot: Face
Caster Level: 7th.
Aura: Moderate; DC 19 Evocation.
Activation: Special
Weight: 1 lb.

This mask seems to be made from semi-opaque ice. It obscures the wearer's face distorting it slightly, functioning as a Mw tool for Bluff (granting a +2 to Bluff checks) without its magical properties. The Mask's true power is only seen in the hands of a paladin, though it cares not for alignment. A paladin wearing this mask may spend a standard or full round action and expend a daily use of Smite to initiate a martial strike. This martial strike must be of a level equal to or lower than 1/3rd the wearer's Paladin level (minimum 1st), and must come from one of three disciplines determined by the mask's construction. The masks come in three varieties. Mask of Battle, Mask of War, and Mask of Erutnevda. A Mask of Battle allows access to maneuvers from the Devoted Spirit, Stone Dragon, and White Raven disciplines. A Mask of War allows access to maneuvers from the Golden Lion, Scarlet Throne and either the Black Seraph (if the wearer is Evil) or the Silver Crane (otherwise) disciplines. A Mask of Erutnevda allows access to maneuvers from the Adamant Eagle (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?404462-Adamant-Eagle-%283-5-Martial-Discipline-Way-of-the-Bodyguard%29), Lunar Spirit (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?253718-Lunar-Spirit-%28Martial-Discipline%29&p=13783066#post13783066), and Star Dream (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?401767-Star-Dream-%28Fey-themed-Discipline-PEACH%29) disciplines.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Ability to use 1 martial maneuver of each discipline granted by the mask, Divine Power.
Cost to Create: 7,000 GP and 560 XP.

Priced it a little under a Scholar Crown because it requires Paladin, has daily uses (and uses up your daily uses of another daily ability), is limited to strikes, and is limited by your class level so that the fact that it gets around prerequisites, and can grant from 3 disciplines is less important in the end. Also I have no paladin disciplines. Anti-Paladin sure, Crone's Hex and Edge of Apocalypse, but no Paladin disciplines.

Shard of the Fractured Mind
Slot: Headband
Aura: Strong Telepathy Price: 36,000gp
Originally created in order to help someone suffering from schizophrenia, the Shard of the Fractured Mind can be used to bring out latent personalities in someone's own psyche, utilizing them for short periods of time.
Three times per day, the wearer of the Shard of the Fractured Mind can call upon its power to cause an aspect of their own personality to splinter off into its own temporary consciousness. Treat this as using the schism power with a duration of 10 rounds, except that the second psyche posesses a random Psicrystal personality. Any actions which run counter to that fragment cause the user to make a DC 18 Will save or become Confused for two rounds as the conflicting drives fight for dominance.

Zaydos' Wonderous Witchcap
Type: Artifact
Price: ------
Body Slot: Head
Caster Level: ----
Aura: Intense; 35 Conjuration.
Activation: None
Weight: 1.5 lb.

"He made a pact, his final act. He did not know, what was the toll. Now you must find him, inside his item. Forever lost, that was the cost." - Tome of the Lost King

This cap was forged by the once great king Zaydos, whose love of creation and the arcane cost him dearly. Born to the royal family, Zaydos was taught many things. But unlike his father and his father before him, he was not able to manifest arcane powers. This troubled him greatly. Through great struggle and questionable means, Zaydos made a contract with a diabolical creature from the nine hells. It would grant him a witchcap said to hold the powers of the most powerful wizards, all for the small price of his soul. But, when he shook the devil's hand, he realized his mistake. The devil grinned wickedly and uttered the words that Zaydos knew sealed his doom. "Read the fine print."

If the wearer possesses no spellcasting ability,
Zaydos' Wondrous Witchcap allows the wielder to cast spells as if she were a 20th-level wizard with a Intelligence score of 20.

Upon donning the witchcap you must make a DC 20 will save or have your soul switched with Zaydos' soul that is stored inside. (This effect functions as Magic Jar.)

The witchcap is intelligent (Int 14, Wis 10, Cha 26, Ego 22) and is True Neutral. It can communicate telepathically with its wearer, though it cannot speak.

Yes, within the levels allowed, and no, 3.5 smite was the intent PF smite is actually worthwhile and would need to at least exchange for a maneuver 1/2 your level.

I have no choice but to grant my permission, and see what wondrous item I'd get. Or mundane item even.

Gauntlets of Xuldarinar
Price: 44,000 (pair)
Body Slot: Hands
Caster Level: 12th.
Aura: Strong; DC 21 Conjuration.
Activation: Standard (manipulation)
Weight: 1 lb (pair).

These gauntlets made of a strange black metal-like substance are always forged in a pair. The right gauntlet bears 8 arrows drawn in white all pointing in the same direction and in so doing forming a single larger arrow. The left gauntlet bears a green and blue gemstone from which eight arrows, red in color, point out in all directions. Twice per day, as a standard action, you can reach out with the left gauntlet and into a distant plane attempting to drag something back out from it. When you do so roll on table 1 below and the indicated creature appears within 30-ft and under your control for 1 minute. If you lack the right gauntlet the left gauntlet still functions, but you roll on table 2 and must make a Charisma check (DC shown on the table below, - indicates impossible check) to control the summoned creature, and on a natural 20 the gauntlet grasps a creature of such power that the creature's resistance instantly destroys the gauntlet causing it to explode in a burst of metallic slivers dealing 1d6 damage to the wearer.

The right gauntlet acts only passively unless you meet a creature summoned by the left gauntlet. If it was summoned by another creature wearing the matching left gauntlet and who is not wearing a right gauntlet you may automatically take control of it as if you had summoned it yourself unless the Charisma check DC is 21 or higher, and if the DC is higher you may make a Charisma check at +8 to attempt to control it. If it was summoned by another left gauntlet you may make a Charisma check at +4 to attempt to control it. If the creature is controlled by another creature they may oppose your attempt to control it with a Charisma check of their own, if they are wearing the corresponding right gauntlet they gain a +8 on this check, if they are wearing a mismatched right gauntlet they gain a +4, and if they are not wearing a right gauntlet they suffer a -2 to the check; you must still succeed at the Charisma check DC to control the creature as well as win the opposed check.

Yes, within the levels allowed, and no, 3.5 smite was the intent PF smite is actually worthwhile and would need to at least exchange for a maneuver 1/2 your level.

Okay. I was confused because you posted DSP schools.

Actually, the next move I was contemplating was Edinah deciding the conversation was getting too serious and maybe Bittersweet doing something spiteful.

Oddly enough, the game might as well be a harem anime at this point. Most of the plot is laid out, but how everything is connected isn't. Between that and the fact that I have way more fun designing people characters, you pretty much are just playing with a bunch of women at this point. XD

Speaking of, I did want to talk about that other person you offhandedly mentioned. The one that is the reason why you hid from Bittersweet before. I thought it would be funny if she made an appearance.

A character with levels in the prestige classes associated with them, utilizing the alternate class features (or related thing) associated with them, reverent of their deity or elder evil (or both), a member of their race, armed with the equipment associated with them, and so on.

Actually, I've considered this. There is a lot of conflicting information for me. Sometimes I'm a dude, sometimes I'm a girl. I've died several times.

It's more likely that I reincarnate, that the title is inherited, or that there is a grand cosmic coincidence that makes me a universal constant.

I'd get be an epic-level Bone Knight (one of the PrCs is a 10-level Bone Knight extension), gestalted with Incarnate/Necrocarnum Fisherman. I guess I'm okay with that

ETA: I actually have no idea how I'd make full use of Bone Knight, Deadnaught, and Necrocarnum Fisherman all at once, because that's two divine casting PrCs and a divine/incarnum theurge, which means if I gestalt to squeeze it into as few levels as possible I'm doubling up on divine casting on more than a few different levels, which isn't a good idea. Maybe I'm really high level? Maybe I'm two different characters? I don't know.

I can see the 175 followers (Thrallherd entry), but where's this 70d8 coming from?

Also, 70d8 averages to 315 and caps at 560, well below the Tarrasque's 858 HP. And then there's the ray-deflecting carapace... what I'm saying is, you're not one-shotting any tarrasques with a Psylock/Thrallherd :smalltongue:

That doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to stomp any of the gods in Deities and Demigods, though. They're terribly unoptimized, such that they're not particularly nasty challenges if you can get around their portfolio sense somehow.

I was playing a game where I had a Paladine Paladin of Palladian. If we keep up with it, I'll take my ACF feat and I was already using my weapon. I'd take the prestige class too. Basically to get as paladinish as I possibly could. With three ways to have a temporary bow of the solars. Snowbluff has a character that is positively obsessed with him.

WhamBam's Gorget of Draconic Command
Price: 195,000 GP.
Body Slot: Throat
Caster Level: 17th.
Aura: Strong; DC 25 Enchantment.
Activation: Standard (command word)
Weight: 2 lb.

This metal gorget is inlaid with precious gem stones, around which draconic script snakes about. The words are always those associated with power, dominance, and control. When the wearer speaks the command word the gorget allows them to gain influence and control over a draconic creature. This functions as Dominate Monster except it has an indefinite duration and only works against true dragons and has a Will save DC of 23. The wearer can dominate up to 34 hit dice of true dragons, or a single true dragon regardless of its hit dice; if the gorget is removed they continue their last command, if the gorget is donned by another creature they gain control of all dragons dominated by the gorget. If a dragon would push it over the hit dice control limit then the gorget fails to function. Releasing a creature from this effect requires a standard action and a different command word. If a creature successfully saves against this effect it is immune to that Gorget of Draconic Command for 24 hours. The Gorget of Draconic Command will not function when worn by a true dragon, all dragons currently under its control immediately being released. The Gorget of Draconic Command will function for lesser dragons, but the save DC is reduced to 19.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Domination Monster, creator must not be a true dragon, creator must speak draconic.
Cost to Create: 97,500 GP, 7800 XP.

I should really be trying to do a bit more writing for these threads. Maybe I'll try to find someone to pick off this afternoon.

Weird question... would a magical sailor fuku be a robe (body non-armor) or vest (torso) item?

Torso slot, probably. And in this thread, that's not a weird question.

I wonder what characters people could develop, using the content that has been developed in these threads.

A character with levels in the prestige classes associated with them, utilizing the alternate class features (or related thing) associated with them, reverent of their deity or elder evil (or both), a member of their race, armed with the equipment associated with them, and so on.

While reading this thread, I was wondering a similar question. (And yes, these threads do move fast!)

How about GitP Regulars as characters?

And while I'm here I will grant my permission as well.

Prufock's Boots of the Long Rider
Price: 3,000 GP.

Aura: Weak; DC 17 Conjuration.
Activation: - (use)
Weight: 2 lb.

These leather riding boots rise part way up the wearer's calves, with wide, flat Cuban heels, pointed toes, and spurs sticking off the back of the boots. These boots do nothing for the rider when they are unmounted, but when the wearer rides a horse or other animal or magical beast it grants the steed resistance to exhaustion and fatigue. Time the steed spends marching or hustling while ridden by the wearer of these boots do not count against the number of hours that they may march before suffering the effects of forced marching or how long they can hustle without taking damage, allowing you to force the steed to hustle for 16 hours straight (effectively quadrupling its daily overland travel rate). In addition any animal or magical beast you ride gains a +4 resistance bonus to Fortitude saves and Constitution checks to resist Fatigue or Exhaustion

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Lesser Restoration, Longstrider.

No, you just insulted their lovely daughters so they'd be mad at me if I gave you one. What the erinyes in FCII was lovely.

While reading this thread, I was wondering a similar question. (And yes, these threads do move fast!)

How about GitP Regulars as characters?

And while I'm here I will grant my permission as well.

I'd end up making LoyalPaladin as a longbow for it.

I don't want to know.

A longbow that is wielded by a certain type of celestial. One that perhaps has a slaying effect?

A holy longbow which is wielded by a fellow party member or a cohort, and has a special purpose of "save all barmaids", and Charisma as his highest stat.

Somensjev's Bottle of Transformation
Price: 300 GP
Body Slot: none
Caster Level: 3rd.
Aura: weak; transmutation, reduce animal.
Activation: drinking it.
Weight: 2 lb.

This potion was originally designed by the same druid who invented the Bag of Tricks. It appears as a small glass Klein Bottle filled with black goo.

This works as the wild shape ability except that the user cannot change back until the effects of the goo naturally wear off. If identify is cast on this item it will appear to be a potion of enlarge person.

Roll a d20 to determine the animal that the user transforms into.
1-3 a toad.
4-7 a cat.
8-11 a rat.
12-16 a donkey.
17-19 a raven.
20 a donkey.

Crafting Prerequisites: craft wondrous item, 150 GP, reduce animal, ability to wild shape.

Fel's Tome of Fiends

Ooh, another for me! Love it. Disturbingly powerful, but the prereqs are pretty severe, as are the consequences.

And let's think about the consequences for a moment. Yes, there's the whole "Use the book and doom your soul" angle, but let's not forget that anyone who would be dumb enough to actually use this book even once gets a great big glowing target painted on his back.

I could totally see an LE character crafting a bunch of these and then just leaving them around to be picked up by idiot adventurers expecting to use them for short-term gain. Heck, I could see Devils doing that. Heck, I could see one of the Devils in the book doing that.

Do likey.

Glad you saw the true purpose, my friend (though it should probably be fiends not in the book, excellent way to mess with rivals). I thought about mentioning rumors of one book that instead of a lemure had one of the Lords of the Nine, said to be the very first Tome of Fiends, but decided that was a bit outside the scope of this (unseenmage is right it's best to keep away from Artifacts this thread so we can do them later).

And hey, Scroll of Gate costs < 1/5th as much so it's not that powerful compared to the closest comparable thing... and I feel dirty using Scroll of Gate as the comparison point for anything (it's just the only spell that came to mind capable of summoning a pit fiend; decided that since all the rest were bad choices to Gate that they shouldn't be worth as much as Pit Fiend and that some - lemure - shouldn't even matter at that point).

Edit: And I'm actually tempted to say Asmodeus has a set of tomes which can be used to summon the other Lords of the Nine and occasionally 'misplaces' them just to make sure random mortals summoning them away mess with any plans they have. There's a place in Baator for a little Chaos.

And as I read your post, I couldn't help but think of another similar book of names that a supernatural creature dropped into the material, to be found by some cunning mortal, purely out of boredom.

Side note, when Asmodeus "misplaces" his ledger, it's never chaos. It's deliberate, like everything he does. You ought to know by now.

Price: 30,000 GP
Body Slot: - (held)
Caster Level: 11th.
Aura: Moderate; DC 21 Enchantment and Necomancy.
Activation: Standard (manipulation)
Weight: 1 lb.

This metal mug perpetually fills itself with a red liquid and is inscribed with warnings against drinking in half a dozen languages. Any creature which willingly drinks from the mug gains a +2 morale bonus to attack rolls, saving throws, weapon damage, caster level checks, skill checks, and ability checks, and this bonus increases by +1 every 3 rounds. However a creature which drinks from the mug also suffers increasing mental and physical deterioration taking 1 point of Wisdom damage each round and taking 1d4 damage each round, this damage increases by 1d4 each round (so on the second round it deals 2d4 damage, on the third 3d4, 4th 4d4, and nth nd4), cannot be reduced by any means, and ignores regeneration. Both effects last until the creature drinks once more from the mug ending both immediately. Drinking from an Atemu's mug does nothing to quench a creature's thirst.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Greater Heroism, Wrack
Cost to Create: 17,500 GP and 1,400 XP.

Boots of the Frozen City
Price: 40,000 GP
Body Slot: Feet
Caster Level: 6th.
Aura: Moderate; DC 21 Transmutation.
Activation: - (use)
Weight: 1 lb.

These deer skinned boots, lined with bear fur, grant the wearer improved speed and stability in icy environments. The wearer of these boots gain a +30-ft enhancement to their land speed. In addition they are not slowed by ice or snow, may walk across ice and snow without needing to make balance checks, and are even sped up when moving upon ice over even ground or downhill the enhancement bonus to speed increasing to 60-ft.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Expeditious Retreat, Ice Skate.
Cost to Create 20,000 GP, and 1600 XP.

Price based upon price for Boots of Striding and Springing which shows 10-ft enhancement to be 2-3k, and Boots of Skating which shows 10-ft with 20-ft on occasion to be 7k indicating that speed increase is not based off of Spell as a Continuous effect or linear, indicating instead it is roughly the same as a weapon. I went with ignore ice and snow +30-ft conditional on ice/snow as equivalent of a "+2" enhancement, though that might have been overshooting a fair bit unless it's a frostburn game.

These will be useful when tracking down mythical spice vendors deep in the woods through six feet of snow. Maybe now I can get some venison jerky that doesn't taste like deer liver soaked in maple syrup without having to go personally. I am impressed.

Nah, dude. That's exactly how it works in Frozen City. You can weigh 300 pounds with the gear you're carrying and still moonwalk over the snow without breaking the top layer of snow.

zaydos this is bit to powerful cast blizzard and get 60 ft movement speed its equal to 5e fly speed

It literally copies a pair of Lv 1 spells which do not stack with each other (and still doesn't stack them). And it costs 50k. For the same price you can get at-will 60-ft flight or air walking (of course this is 90-ft on ice... and really, really over priced).

Location + Quote + Half-asleep so that I forgot wings of flying were only 4k more. Hence they now cost less.

PsyGrenade
Price: 1,200 GP
Body Slot: -
Caster Level: 5th.
Aura: Weak; DC 18 Necromancy.
Activation: Standard (manipulation)
Weight: 1 lb.

This metallic sphere is activated by pressing into its top with one's thumb and then tossing it hard. When it strikes the ground in such a manner it releases a burst of discordant incarnum in a 20-ft radius destroying the PsyGrenade. Throwing the PsyGrenade functions like throwing a grenade-like weapon with a range increment of 10-ft. This destructively charged incarnum deals 2d4 essentia damage and any essentia damage dealt in excess of a creature's essentia is dealt as Wisdom damage instead. A creature may invest essentia into a PsyGrenade increasing its essentia damage by 1 per point of essentia invested, but any essentia invested into the PsyGrenade is lost to the user for 1 hour.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Soul Blight, creator must have an essentia pool.
Cost to Create: 1000 GP and 80 XP.

NeoPheonix's Quill of Forgery
Price: 10,000
Body Slot: -
Caster Level: 9th.
Aura: Moderate; DC 20 Transmutation and Conjuration
Activation: - (use) and standard (command word)
Weight: -

A Quill of Forgery appears as a simple quill pen except that it never runs out of ink. However when put to paper (or papyrus, or something else) to pen a forgery it grants the user great efficacy in their illicit activity granting them a +10 competence bonus to Forgery checks to create forgeries and halving the time required to make the forgery. In addition each Quill is able to teleport itself to a random city on the same plane when a command word is spoken.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Amanuensis, Teleport, creator must be Chaotic.
Cost to Create: 5000 GP and 400 XP.

NeoPheonix's Helm of Erratic Teleportation
Price: 50,000 GP
Body Slot: Head
Caster Level: 9th.
Aura: Moderate; DC 20 Conjuration.
Activation: -
Weight: 3 lb.

This helm looks like and identifies as a Helm of Teleportation, but it has a nasty twist. When donned the wearer is immediately teleported 9d% miles in a random direction. Thereafter the wearer is teleported 9d% miles in a random direction every 2d6 hours. This teleportation never places them in the air or in an object. The helmet can be removed normally, but that does not end the effect. The effect only ends if another creature wears the helmet, or if a Remove Curse spell is cast on both the wearer and the helmet at the same time.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Teleport.
Cost to Create: 25,000 GP and 2000 XP.

Living Peanut Statue

Price: 75,000 gp
Body Slot: - (held)
Caster Level: 17th
Aura: Strong; (DC 23) conjuration, transmutation
Activation: (use) and standard (command word)

This small Peanut Dragon statuette appears to be made out of actual peanuts.

This item begins each day with 6 charges. As a standard action the user can use a charge to cast Entangle as the spell, save DC 15, caster level 17. As a standard action the user can throw the statue on the ground and speak the command word and it will turn into a Peanut Dragon for 2 minutes. Treat this Peanut Dragon as a summoned creature. If the peanut dragon is killed or dispelled, it turns back into a statue. If the peanut dragon enters an anti-magic field it turns back into a statue; if the statue leaves the anti-magic field before the duration of its transformation has ended, it turns back into a peanut dragon. The age category of the peanut dragon depends on the number of charges used.

1 charge: wyrmling
2 charges: very young
3 charges: young
4 charges: juvenile
5 charges: young adult
6 charges: adult

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Summon Nature's Ally IX, Entangle
Cost to create: 37,500 gp, 3000 xp

It's a one use item about as expensive as a scroll of Finger of Death, and all Wis based casters have a better chassis than a commoner (wizard is an Int based caster after all) and even then by the time you're spending 2k on a consumable you ought to be able to beat a Lv 1-3 character with it, and beyond that point you're not taking out the bulk of their spells... well ok that depends upon optimization. Straight DMG cleric will lose most of their spells until around 10th level (Wis 19 means they retain 4th level and lower spells), one custom built is liable to have greater than 15 starting Wisdom (up to 20 starting Wisdom) at which point this does very little to them... stop convincing me that things are heavily overpriced by calling them OP. It takes until 12th level for the cleric to have a 50% chance of surviving Finger of Death however which still also removes them as a general threat.

Tiefling Tail of Balance

Price 15,000
Body Slot: Belt
Caster Level: 5th
Aura: Transmutation, Abjuration (DC 11)

This item looks like the tail of some fiendish creature attached to a belt.

This item appears to be the tail of some fiendish creature, when worn it attaches to the wearers lower back and grants them a +10 competence bonus on Balance checks. This will also automatically negate any penalty for having a "thigh-gap". Removing the belt causes no ill effects.

In addition if a Tiefling wears the belt it will meld with their tail (if they have one) and double their natural energy resistances.

Oh but those are literally the two most boring dragons in the entire game. If you are going to pick something from the monster manual, pick something like white dragon. If you think hard enough about it you begin to realize the white dragon is the most ferocious fierce multi-vector assault platform. Sadly people would be upset if i gave it wall of ice, even though that is exactly what i think of when i think what spell should all white dragons learn. it helps them create corners for their prey, combine that with every type of movement speed and icy terrain advantage (seriously where else are you going to find a white dragon, on vacation to the tropics?) and many people would need a new pair of pants afterwards if they have legs and a brain left anyway.

Red and gold dragons: big, fire, "scary", who cares.

Red dragons are fun when you play up their wealth detection, arrogance, and position among evil dragon-kind (my personal favorite chromatic is actually Blue because of a small mention of them an theocracies). That said only time I use red dragons is when I need some reason for chromatic dragons to work together, or as the big, scary dragon because killing a red dragon has meaning for players. White dragons will always have a special place in my heart because of being so cute in the MM that it got me to buy it and thus update to 3.x.

Gold dragons are just plain boring. I mean Silver Dragons are the ones which love humans, cherish what we cherish, mingle among us as if they were humans. Bronze dragons are the warrior-champions, who join in human wars to aid the side of good, who watch out for animals. That riding dog which the (halfling or gnome) commander has ridden in every battle of the campaign? Secretly a bronze dragon all along, making sure he got where he needed to be at the moment (even if he thought he needed to be somewhere else) and making sure he survived. Gold dragons? Umm... Big goods who extort tribute and sit on their lazy asses? Ok, I've actually used one as a sort of LG Priest-King before but they're the most boring good aligned dragons.

The two are also the most iconic and easiest to come up with effects for off the cuff.

Silver would get Disguise Self. Bronze Speak with Animals. Copper Spider Climb. Brass not sure without opening a book/the srd. Blue would get their racial destroy water ability. Green could get Charm Fey (Charm Person but fey instead of humanoids). Black... not sure. White honestly Grease refluffed as an ice slick.

Yes, white dragons are the dumbest. They are the most animalistic. They also start out weaker than pretty much any other true dragon. They also live in an area where most of the things on the bottom of the food chain could kill them. So honestly only the really lucky and cunning ones should live any length of time. So basically, a great wyrm white dragon has lived through horrible time, can attack from the sea, sky, and underground, and live in what is basically a 3d maze carved out of a glacier or iceberg. Also, white dragons are naturally savage. Great wyrm white dragons fluff-wise are savage apex predators forged by mother nature, that finally have an intelligence score. Crunch-wise, they have really awesome movement capabilities, and some awesome spell like abilities, including Freezing Fog.

besides, wouldn't you want the cute white idiotic terror that wants nothing but to single mindedly try to bite your head off?

Sadly, they're the weakest imperial dragon, not even getting 9th level spells and being the most commonly resisted element.

Hm. How do you do that? Have you managed to somehow find a way to be useful outside of combat, or are you managing it by being really good at fighting? I've not played a PF monk, but they don't seem to have much in the way of anything except damage output and I've heard they aren't exactly spectacular at that either save for Pummeling Style.

hey now, 3.5 monks can be really useful... once every couple of multiverses worth of time... Like this one time this monk somehow managed to win the campaign by talking to squirrels... I suppose if they had a caster that wasn't a sorcerer they could have done the same thing any number of different ways, or bypassed it entirely, or even used track or gather information to figure out enough to get where they needed to get going... this isn't doing anything for the 3.5 monk is it. Well they can do some minor dbz stuff, like ki based energy blasts, at a reasonable level and i guess that is all i have to offer on the subject...

This fine belt is made of blue silk with a silver buckle in the shape of a dolphin. It radiates a powerful calming and peaceful aura. Everyone within 30 feet of the belt will be unable to purposefully cause harm to a living creature unless they succeed on a DC 20 will save when they enter the AOE of the belt. Additionally it is impossible to use the rage or greater rage ability when within 30 feet of the belt.

moderate enchantment; caster level 7; craft wondrous item, calm emotions, charm person.

Haha, yes! Michael Winner in a belt.

You never fail to confuse amuse me, Marlowe and co. Also, if I may correct a statement you made: "Friends don't let friends play 3.5 monks". Pathfinder monks are actually worth a damn. I can play a Pathfinder monk with not much in the way of optimization tricks and still contribute handily to the group I play with, and they're not low-op people. No, not really. Even my friend you plays a Jack B. Quick monk gets circles run around him.

This, pretty much forever. These Planetouched speak to my soul.

The only valuable time spend in PF is usually with DSP material (which can be backported). Other than that, I only play with this one group because there are very many where I live, and they're pretty cool.

This is awesome. I will play it, Snaughbleauf will wield me.

Bronze dragons are tricksters, so maybe a spell like Glibness or an Image spell?
Bronze dragons are my favorite, believe it or not.

I keep bulettes in my kennel.

Until then, you can play a Fiend of Possession.

Also, I love that Snaughbleauf is still a thing.

You know what's also a thing? Beeseecher. I even made the new skirmisher bee tribute like Zaydos said, he didn't comment. D:

Bronze dragons are my favorite, believe it or not.

They might well be my favorite official dragons, and I have a strange dragon fixation which is weird and unhealthy and unnatural. Also they're easily the most majestic and regal looking metallic dragons in the 3e Monster Manual (white dragons still win cutest puppy).

Specifically Erinyes alone puts it at epic levels before you complete FoP, though erinyes paladin 2/FoP 2 is possible pre-epic.

Not got any good bee ideas right now. Instead I've got a mostly complete Lord Vader Vestige, which led to talk of an Elric of Vestige, which became Stormbringer the Black Vestige, which became a class that beat me enough I posted it unfinished (:smallyuk:) and is demanding too much of my brain space for much else. And at some point I need to stat out magic eating bats.

Because I should actually contribute once and a while, I might try building an item for someone. Who hasn't received an item yet?

I put this in spoilers as to keep it out of the way for those who don't want to see me rant about people having a lack of faith in monks. I'll be talking mainly about Pathfinder (both regular and unchained), as people tend to assume that pathfinder monks are as bad, and sometimes even worse, than 3.5 monks. I don't want to derail this thread into a 10 page long argument on why monks are the worst/not the worst and what the best class is or whatever, because that's no fun for anyone. So I'd like to ask that if you wish to continue to talk about this, please keep it in spoilers and actually respond to the thread at hand before you go off and respond to this.

The first thing I'd like to mention about monks is the fact the people all too often attribute ability scores in the wrong order to monks, thinking Wisdom is the highest priority, as well as reducing the impact of their MAD. That's completely false. I'm not accusing anyone specific of doing it, but I feel enough people think like that that I should mention it. Strength should be your first priority, if you actually want to hit things. Now, there are ways to get Dexterity to replace Strength (and to a lesser extent Wisdom), which actually quite improve your monk, but not everyone has those options or thinks about them, so I actually want to mention them. The first way to do so, and is completely first party, requires three feats. First, you need Boar Style, which makes your Unarmed Strikes do Slashing Damage. Next you grab slashing grace, and seeing as how your Unarmed Strikes count as One-Handed, they're applicable as One-Handed Slashing Weapons. Then you obviously get Weapon Finesse, for Dex to-hit. The next one costs two feats, but requires 3rd party content, albeit good 3rd party conflict. If DSP is available, simply get Deadly Agility and Weapon Finesse. Easy. The last way, which for some people mileage may vary, requires putting a three level dip into Unchained Rogue, giving you Dexterity to hit and damage with one weapon (your unarmed strikes, of course). There's also a way or two to get Wisdom to hit/possibly damage, but I don't know the feats well enough. If you can get one of these ways to work, you now have reduced your Ability dependency to three, with two dumpable stats (intelligence being iffy, and dumping Charisma and Strength hard), much like ranger or paladin, and have increased your AC significantly, by placing more priority on Dexterity.

Next I'd like to note that monks have one of the best set of class features for scouting, and a generally pretty good skill list. They honestly get the best skill lists outside of Ranger and Paladin for any martial character, with the second or third most useful knowledge (Religion), Perception, Stealth, and Sense Motive, as well as some other goodies. They also get a decent amount of SP/level.

I'm running short on time, so I'll just cut this here, and add more stuff when I can.

Price: 123,000 GP
Body Slot: Body
Caster Level: 15th.
Aura: Strong; DC 18 Abjuration.
Activation: -
Weight: 1 lb.

This red outfit (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/inuyasha/images/a/a5/Robe_of_fire_rat.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20111103180512) was woven from the hair of the fire rat and imbued with the powerful ki of youkai making it harder than iron but light as a breeze. While worn it grants the wearer a +8 armor bonus to AC (but is not in itself armor), DR 3/-, and fire resistance 30. Non-masterwork weapons which strike the Robe of the Fire Rat must make a Reflex save (DC 20) or be destroyed. The robe itself is immune to fire, has a hardness of 40, 120 hit point, and heals 5 hit points per round.

Oh wait.. not that Inuyasha.

Inuyasha's Glasses of the Jinx

Body Slot: Face
Caster Level: 5th.
Aura: Weak; DC 18 Enchantment.
Activation: Standard (command word)
Weight: -.

These glasses have frames made of strangely dark blue material, a result of their sorcerous construction, and lenses of red quartz. When worn three times per day you may utter a command word and glance towards a single creature that can see you. That creature must make a DC 15 Will save or on its next turn be compelled to make a melee or ranged attack against its nearest ally with whatever weapon it holds (or unarmed if it carries no weapon).

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Command
Cost to Create: 5,400 GP and 4,360 XP.

Check ye olde list, I keep it fairly up to date.

I totally understand IZ.
It makes me sad. :smallfrown:

hey, giants respects the paladins ability to become slightly closer to a wizard with some munchkining. They also view the paladin in general similarish to the ranger in general, only capable of turning coal into diamonds. I just wish i understood giants love affair with the wizard. I guess they love spending hours of real life preparing for each in game day. Otherwise i see no reason to like the wizard.

The joke at my table, is that Paladin is the only tier 0 class. That is because, it's Code of Conduct makes him dependable and he tends to garner allies because of it.

Seriously. My Paladin got in a fight with our Cleric (note: the cleric started it.), our other cleric and our party wizard decided to back up the Paladin because they trusted him and cared about him.

Lord Gareth's Gauntlets of the Sublime Craftsman
Price: 50,000 GP (empty, bad maneuvers may decrease value)
Body Slot: Hands
Caster Level: 12th.
Aura: Strong; DC 21 Transmutation.
Activation: 10 minutes, see below.
Weight: 1 lb.

These metal and leather gauntlets look like what would be worn by a moderately armored melee pugilist. Each pair of gauntlets of the sublime craftsman can store 4 special martial strikes created by a wearer. These maneuvers have two options of those listed on the table below based upon their level. A wearer cannot create martial strikes with a level higher than they can initiate. A wearer can ready maneuvers in these gauntlets of a level they can learn as if they were among their maneuvers known. You may choose an ability from a lower level of the table than the maneuver's level, but may not choose more than one ability each from any given column. DC for all effects is 10 + Maneuver level + the wearer's highest mental ability modifier. All strikes made with these gauntlets are standard actions, include at least one melee attack (tactical may increase this), and debuff effects only apply to targets that were hit.

Crafting a maneuver for the gauntlets requires 10 minutes of work, and once the maneuver has been crafted it cannot be changed.

LevelDamage (1)Damage (2)DebuffTactical
1+1d4+1d4Reflex save or be dazzled for 1 round.Roll twice on attack, forfeit damage bonus or debuff effect to take higher roll.

The code of conduct is the only real issue I have with the paladin. I just think it's generally poorly written and leaves itself open to abuse and misuse.

They could stand to have a couple more buffs (more Lay on Hands, better smite mechanics, more skill points), but they're hard to kill, good in a fight and usually pretty dependable.

I feel similarly about monks, they just need stuff that works together better.

hey, giants respects the paladins ability to become slightly closer to a wizard with some munchkining. They also view the paladin in general similarish to the ranger in general, only capable of turning coal into diamonds. I just wish i understood giants love affair with the wizard. I guess they love spending hours of real life preparing for each in game day. Otherwise i see no reason to like the wizard.

Eh. Wizard is too complicated if you pay attention to downtime spells (which isn't a necessity for a wizard to be strong). I restrict my self to PHB + SC (or CRB + APG) for spell selection so I'm not tempted to dig through obscure campaign books for OP spells.

Also, Paladin is cool. I like the paladin. It's a bad class, but that's WotC's fault, and built right they can be decent.

Monks are not. They don't even belong in the setting, and not even their Mary Sue "I don't need mechanical advantage to hit things" powers will not save them from being buried a hundred miles under Tartarus.

No spells or maneuvers, either. Nothing was done to make the class mechanically engaging. The most you can get out of it is a dip for builds much more dependent on other class levels, like Shadow Sun Ninja or Tashalatora.

Phooey on monks, and phooey on attempts to fix rather than replace. :smalltongue:

I usually play wizards over sorcerers because the casting progression is faster.

Yeah paladins are okay.

No they're not. They're the best reason to reach level 9 in BECMI. I think that makes them (conceptually) more than okay. Paladin might be my favorite concept other than Wizard or Gish.

And this is my main actual problem with monk (the other being that they should get full BAB) that they don't fit in ye olde standard generic fantasy.

Hahaha... I do this to.

I don't even care about the casting progression half the time (though it is a raw deal on sorcerers), it's just being Int based and BOOKS! Plus wizards get a familiar. You can do fun things with a familiar.

It could have been executed a lot better. I'm one of the few people who think they should allow any alignment, but restrict Paladins worshiping Torm to having to share an alignment with a patron deity. We have Crusader for that dedication to an ideal thing.

They could stand to have a couple more buffs (more Lay on Hands, better smite mechanics, more skill points), but they're hard to kill, good in a fight and usually pretty dependable.
I'm all for buffing smite. Remove disease is pretty bad and they could stand to gain mettle or something...

I like sorcerers because they are Cha based, you can make a ton of different builds just on using Cha effectively. The only advantage Int has over Cha is it is your skill point base, otherwise Cha can be thrown around everywhere. I also use sorcerers because they provide the raw torque i enjoy a lot of the time. I run out of spell slots way more than i should, then again i have used spells in a horrible inefficient way in the past, usually on purpose. Also there is metamagic, if i am doing metamagic it had better be a DMM cleric or a sorcerer. Seeing as the cleric list is my least favorite list of any base class that DMM cleric isn't happening except as an accessory to another gish.

Powder of Dysprosium
Price: 200 GP
Body Slot: - (Held)
Caster Level: 3rd.
Aura: Weak; DC 16 Transmutation.
Activation: Standard.
Weight: 3 lb.

This silvery powder is normally contained in a small clothe bag. Thrown, as a standard action, it functions as a grenade-like weapon aimed at a square intersection. Striking a hard object the bag will split open spilling its contents in the 4 squares around the intersection covering them in this powder. This powder is extremely flammable and if fire or electricity damage is dealt to anything covered in the powder it immediately sets ablaze, igniting all powder in contiguous squares. This powder burns for 5 rounds, dealing fire damage as normal for being on fire (1d6 damage/round), and while it can be extinguished normally by rolling on non-flaming ground, water does nothing to extinguish its fires, the powder instead converting water into flammable hydrogen gas.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Object, creator must have 5 ranks in Craft (Alchemy).
Cost to Create: 100 GP and 80 XP.

Monks are not. They don't even belong in the setting

This is something I have to disagree with.

Little John was totally a monk, running around with no armor or nothing whacking people with a quarterstaff.

Scatha, who gave the Gae Bulg to Cuchulainn was noted to be a master of fighting with or without a weapon, and led a kingdom/monastery of female warriors.

Savate is a french martial arts style developed by sailors that primarily relies on kicks because it was illegal to throw a punch in many cities in France, but technically kicking was OK.

Brazil's Capoeira was developed by slaves in secret so that they could rebel against their masters without weapons.

There's plenty of cases in western literature and history where unarmed fighters were a thing. Less so than in eastern cultures for sure, due to the geography making metal more abundant and generally of better quality.

Historical and mythological arguments aside, not every story takes place in "Generic Medieval Europe" a monk certainly wouldn't be out of place in a Warriors and Wuxia game, and there should absolutely be support for these kinds of stories in the core books as it encourages people to branch out into characters and stories that are new or atypical for western fantasy.

Moving even further away from real world evidence, all of these games take place in fictional world entirely divorced from our own. The worlds of Aebir-Toril, Greyhawk, Golarion, Athas and Eberron all make it pretty clear that enclaves of ascetic individuals who train their bodies and minds to achieve oneness with the universe are a thing that happens in these worlds, and to be honest, the ability to run faster, jump higher, and hit harder with just your body sounds pretty darn appealing. Not to mention the immunity to diseases, poisons and the ability to communicate with all living things. No wonder people in those fantasy worlds want to be monks, it sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

That of course is the actual problem with the monk, they sound great but their abilities just lack the raw math to really function compared to other classes. But that has nothing to do with whether or not the monk deserves it's spot based on fluff.

Guy who fights as good barehanded as the guy with the greatsword is a perfectly valid mechanical character concept, and deserves its place in D&D and Pathfinder. The monk needs our love and support, not our derision.

Aura: Moderate; DC 20 Transmutation.

Weight: 250 lbs.

This oaken workbench comes complete with vices and all the amenities one would expect from a high quality workbench. It bears, however, a potentially dangerous enchantment. Any non-living non-magical object left unobserved on the workbench for 1 round will be reworked into another object. This functions as a Fabricate spell with a +15 to any relevant Craft check (increase cost by 500 GP per additional +1 to the craft check) using whatever object or objects are left on the bench. The workbench's output is almost impossible to control, and it can make multiple items from one object, or one item from multiple objects. The workbench might turn a piece of wood into a cup, a wooden dagger, or a set of wooden dice, and cannot be compelled to do one over the others. The workbench will not modify an item it has already modified until 1 day has passed since it last worked on that object and the object has been removed from the bench and placed back upon it.

Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Fabricate, creator must have 10 ranks in any Craft skill (+1 rank per additional +1 the table possesses on Craft checks).
Cost to Create: 5,000 GP and 400 XP.
