Last session a PC rolled a nat 1 on a spot check. As a result I thought it would be fun for the character to see sound instead of texture for 1 hour (they still could see distance and color). The player loved this and the group even went on a 5 minute tangent discussing Synaesthesia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia) and cyborg augments to work around full color blindness (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5APNzLl2zU&ab_channel=TED-Ed).

I am wondering if the forum has some more ideas to use.
Some guidelines:
1) They should not be merely numeric effects
2) They should have an impact but not be overly penalizing. The point is to have a neat effect/obstacle not to punish nat 1s
3) They should not fail the check. Nat 1s are not automatic fails.

Some ideas I have used:
1) A persistent hallucination (ex: An Eagle that flies around and talks to the character)
2) Swapping senses

For a knowledge check, you remember some obscure but useless piece of information. For a spot check, you find a four leaf clover, or a cloud that is shaped like a dragon.

The Winged Mod: As there are several threads on discussing Fumbles now on this very forum, I'm going to start closing a few in favor of the older threads, to adhere to the One Thread, One Topic policy. Please feel free to carry on this discussion this in this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?422127-Good-fumble-rules).
