I've been posting about the Burrwood setting I'm trying to make on and off for a while. Mostly off though. So right now I'd like to focus on the major cities of the setting. I'm really having trouble with the names for these cities. So I'll post some details a friend of mine and I came up with for a swamp based New Orleans-style city and the area outside it.

Bosquet de Magnolia (Magnolia Grove)

my ideas
New Orleans style city
the local gators have a steam breath weapons
barges pulled by giant turtles
commercial fishing and shrimping
frog men outside city limits, some hostile
giant frogs and constrictor snakes outside city

Zac's ideas
the steam breathing gator outside city limits are and psychic
city largely built on pylons
slums built on barges
lower classes on the bottom structures
boats are used to travel from pylon to pylon, barge to barge, ect.
grey and black markets in the under city
jelly fish-like mega fauna
illegally lobotmized psychic gators are used for steam cleaning

Next City: Unnamed Necropolis

-non-evil city of necromancers
-reluctant to trade in corporeal undead
-necromancers act as emissaries of the living to the dead
-also a city of ghosts
-weak border between mortal realm and the afterworld
-heavy amount of ancestor worship
-dominant house's colors are silver, black and gray and is Lawful Good
-occasionally powerful members of the nobility are in effect animated as liches to guard the city they once lived in
-undead sages and former rulers lie in torpor unless the city is gravely threatened
-shadow magic is also openly practiced
-decent mix of trade and agriculture
-due to their power over life and death, the city's necromancers are gifted healers, with some of them even able to restore the dead to true life
-home to the world's largest academy of necromancy
-port city
-Spanish or Portuguese in culture and language
