Welcome to the voting thread for Base Class Challenge XXVIII, (Maybe) Morally Justified (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?414463-Base-Class-Contest-XXVIII-(Maybe)-Morally-Justified&p=19448457)! Voting will consist of each voter giving a first, second, and third place vote for three separate base classes. Anyone can vote, and in fact, entrants must vote to qualify for victory.

A first place vote is worth three points, a second place vote is worth two points, and a third place vote is worth one point. You may not vote for your own class.

You are encouraged to include reason with your votes, though this is not absolutely required.

The class that ends up with the most points wins the challenge contest. Voting starts now and will continue until 23:59 (Central Standard Time USA/Canada; GMT-6) on July 6th 10th.

*The zealot has no class skills listed. However, it would be reasonably easy to just shoehorn in a list from a similar class and be done with it until the author finishes the list. For this reason, it has been included as a finished entry.

Unfortunately, the fractured mind (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19237005&postcount=4) and overlord (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showsinglepost.php?p=19249229&postcount=8) are ineligible for voting.

1. Karmic Avenger. I like the idea of building up strength for magic it has a nice feel. Feels a little restrictive in spell choice but otherwise is good.

2. BadMage. This is #2 only because it is barely tied to the theme. Its fun. Its random. Its something i want to play/use as a comic relief NPC.

3. Gnostic. This is huge and complex enough it will probably be incredibly hard to play without forgetting something and most people aren't going to be able to roleplay a shifting alignment well. However, this is well done. All the powers based on alignment feel like something that alignment would use/be weak to. The flavor is nice and got to give you credit for putting in several anti-Hyde mechanics.

This was one of the hardest contests I've either entered (even though I didn't have time to finish) or reviewed. I've said it a couple of times before, but I'm often not a fan of huge overblown entries, mainly because I never have time to read or assess them correctly. I would love to see some more concise and elegant entries as some times it can all feel a little bit win by word count (are a gazzilion spells, feats, sub-things and sub-sub things really necessary every time? - sorry rant over. lol)

1. Karmic Avenger. I agree with mantia, the spell choice is a bit restrictive, but I love the theme and it plays to that theme very strongly. Awesome job!

2. Gnostic. Having said everything I did in my preamble I actually do really like this class. It is indeed a bit overblown and I'm not sure I would actually play one, but I do like the theme and the way it can move between alignments. Its basically a far better way of doing a free flowing alignment based thing than what I was thinking of. Well done!

3. The Exemplar. I think the contest theme of alignment was tricky and I think a lot of people wont be a fan of a class that actually takes a single alignment type and says "you must be this", but there is a lot to like here. The theme ties in well and I could actually see myself playing as one of these for a short time.

1st: The BadMage by MorePetrichor. I find the concept more or less hilarious, and I enjoy both randomness and new mechanics.

2nd: The Exemplar by Jormengand. It introduces and bases a class around an entirely new mechanism, and yet is simple(ish) and easy to understand. Plus, it has a nice capstone.

3rd: The Wind Warrior by mantia. The naming for Clam/Storm felt strange, maybe reversed. Also, it could use a few more class abilities. Regardless, I liked it and think it deserves a vote.

1st. BadMage. I Love this class beyond words. It is borderline playable and extremely unique and I want to play a campaign with a full party of these guys

2nd. Zealot. A nice simple class. It's hard for me to get into super complex classes, and this guy fits my bill.

3rd. Gnostic. I will never play as this guy because the wall of texts scares me. But huge respect to Zaydos for creating this behemoth.

My ability to post is quite spotty, so I'll just post my vote and add reasons later.

1st - Gnostic
2nd - Karmic Avenger
3rd - Exemplar

1st Zealot. While I'm not sure on the balance (+20 damage/attack 4 rounds/encounter as a free action is pretty big). It's an alignment themed class with some potentially neat ability, and doesn't rub me totally wrong.

2nd Wind Warrior. An interesting take on alignment. Unfortunately it's a worse fighter, and needs an overhaul before being playable/good (like CW Samurai). I'd be happy to see it reposted and worked into something tier 3-5 (depending upon design goal).

3rd Badmage. It made me laugh. Though it'll result in rolling up a lot of new characters before leaving the first town until you luck out for a spell worth memorizing which... will immediately break the game.

1st: Karmic Avenger. The idea of karmic debt for spell casting is a unique and interesting mechanic, which plays to the theme of working towards more powerful spells quite nicely. It also works well with the good/evil theme without overbearing people.
2nd: Gnostic. A thorough class that covers basically every alignment combination possible. The only reason I wouldn't place it in first place is that it felt like it had a few too many moving parts.
3rd: Exemplar. While somewhat one-note, the ability to challenge people to mortal combat over nearly anything is a wonderful addition to D&D as a whole.

1st: Exemplar As noted, it is a one-trick pony, but the challenges represent, to me, a fresh mechanic and a new twist on the tank/striker roles. It is unique, simple to understand, and elegant, if a little overpowered and lacking in options.

2nd: Zealot Seems fun, fits the theme, has a lot of options. I especially like the thematic link between its extreme durability and fluff.

3rd: Gnostic I don't want to badmouth this one, but I'm basically defaulting to it since I don't consider the others linked closely enough to the contest theme. I honestly didn't get all the way through the description, and that is a major problem. It seems similar to both mine and the Zealot, just a whole lot more complicated.
