Opera not loading anything

So I took my wife's old desktop and put it in at work, since my old compy's wireless card would intermittently drop the internet. I mostly use Chrome, but one of the programs I use requires Silverlight, and there's apparently this big to-do between Chrome and Microsoft, and long story short, I use Opera whenever I need to perform a specific operation in that program. Problem is, I downloaded Opera on this computer, and it opens up all nice-like, but nothing loads. I can't get out of the Speed Dial home screen; it just says "loading" when I try to go to any other page. Internet is working fine, and I'd rather not use Firefox. What's stopping the Opera from working?

Using Windows 7 and whatever the latest version of Opera is.
