Adding spells to the Wizard list

Can it be done? How can it be done? Also, is it possible to cast a Wizard spell at a lower level than normal by grabbing a lower-spell-level version of the spell from a different list (e.g. Animate Dead from the Death Master list)?

There are various methods of adding spells to a class list. For example, through levels of a prestige class which grants a domain; see the EXTRA DOMAINS rules in Complete Divine (page 20).
