So this fairly awesome class is based on a spell that wasn't converted to 3.5. So unless I'm just terrible at Google, which is honestly very likely, since I can't find an actual update to the source book does that mean that the class is playable as is or what?

Accessory Update Booklet (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20030718a) for core rulebooks notes that Animal friendship spell have been removed entirely (and not just renamed), and that Animal Empathy have been folded into Wild Empathy which only Rangers/Druids get natively... so demanding some level of Wild Empathy bonus (which usually is ClassLevel) would make sense.

Per the mothership (http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20050110x), Tamer of Beasts was revised for 3.5 into the Beastmaster PrC in Complete Adventurer.

Some one may come along to correct me, but as far as I know the general consensus is that if it's 3.0 material, and no update exists, then it can be considered 3.5 RAW. I also believe that Masters of the Wild never got an update, however looking at Tamer of Beasts it seems similar enough to Beastmaster (Complete Adventurer) that Beastmaster could be considered the updated version, though I'm not 100% on that. I personally think that Tamer of beasts seems a lot cooler and more versatile, and would strongly consider neglecting to mention mention the existence of beastmaster if it does turn out to be the updated version, mostly because I like the idea of being able to experience the world through the senses of my animal companions more than getting scent an low-light vision, plus the ability to make an army of 148 squirrels sounds amazing.

Edit: Damn, double ninjas.
