So one of our players wants to play a banana minion from the new movie Minions. I was thinking it would be funny to have a BBEG with leadership with a bunch of these guys running around with misc high tech that no-one but the minions can use.

I think you are grossly overestimating their Wisdom. Consider that a 6 int is the intelligence of a wizard's familiar. I think minion wisdom is at least that low, if not as low as 4.

Why not just use Derro (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/derro.htm)? Everyone seems to like the little yellow abominations for some unfathomable reason, so the high Charisma makes sense.
