Dice apps are fun! Never forget your dice, not have enough (or bring too many), or have them roll off the table, or be stolen by the cat.

So, quick and easy thread here - what are everyone's favorite apps for rolling dice of various kinds? Both paid and free.

If it matters, I'm using Android (Lollipop) - but I'm interested in iOS and Windows apps as well, because my IRL friends have diverse dicing devices.

My current app of choice is Diceshaker D&D (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pallosalama.dice.dnd&hl=en) - a paid app, but the dice are beautiful, and the app has realistic physics and even makes clicking sounds - making them a lot of fun to toy with while waiting for my turn to come around, or the GM to finish expositing. My only dislike is that you have to apply modifiers by hand since this particular app only gives you the totals of the dice themselves.

What dice apps does the playground recommend?

Come on, no one rolls dice on their phone and has any recommendations? Help me out here Playground, I just know I'm missing something good!

I use Prime Dice (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rambutan.dice) when necessary, but I wouldn't really recommend it. If anyone knows of a free, physics based roller with a less clunky interface, I'd be anxious to try it.

Yeah I saw that one and it didn't look very appealing, though at least it can do modifiers.

Really, Diceshaker D&D would be perfect for me if I could just add in a modifier or two. The physics engine and graphics are great, although it's gotten a little bit "floaty" since I went from KitKat to Lollipop.

There are exactly two, and only two, circumstances in which it is acceptable to "roll" with electronic, virtual "dice."
They are:

a) rolling real dice is impossible or extremely difficult due to disability, or

b) playing online over a VTT application.

There are no other circumstances in which they should be used. None. It is a blasphemy unto the Dice Gods.

On Android I use a dice roller called: Alt Dice, it's free, super easy to use, and really flexible.
It allows you to create as many dice as you need, with colors, labels, and as many sides as wanted. It also has the function to Lock / Unlock dice to prevent or allow them to roll.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yaquiero.altdice

Regarding the type of dice, it has:
- Classic 6 sided dice ideal for: Ludo, Yahtzee, Liars, Backgammon, Farkle, Monopoly, Risk, Clue, Trivial, Pictionary, Catan, Jenga, etc..
- Dice with 2 and up to 99 sides which works really well as random number generators and RPGs.
- Custom dice with a color and text for each side, wonderful for: Twister, Cranium, Uno Dice, Block & Block, First player chooser, Decision Roulette, etc..

Perhaps the only downside it has is the lack of fancy animations or graphic effects, but to be honest I prefer it in minimalistic because it consumes less battery.

I've since gotten a great app, no need to necro this old thing

It's called DnDice and it has physics, modifiers, keep/drop, totals, number of successes, exploding, odd dice (e.g. d5, d7 etc), coins, colorful backgrounds, sound effects and much more. Works like a charm on my Oreo android phone. It has both a free and paid version as well!
