Homunculus, how do I get one?

Are there rules in place to acquire a homunculus as a familiar? If not, what is a good suggestion?

There are no rules for having a homunculus, but I would say just ask your DM if you can have it with find familiar, if they say no or argue, just point out that its no more powerful than a bat or cat or rat.
Or mat.

MM says it's a ritual. Just tell your DM you want to research it.

I'd probably allow it with Find Familiar cast with a second level slot.
