Hi there :D
I am a long time DM of D&D and i haven't tried many other systems.

I recently got to play Descent, the boardgame.
I liked the resolution mechanics and the dice system very much. It was very simple, every action required a defendant reaction to defend, and most of all, the game was entirely a combat encounter, yet it was fast and funny.

Is there anything similar for RPG games?
It needs more depth of course, but i really would like a simple system that takes 20 seconds or less to resolve a turn.

you could just convert the game system and expand it. I'm sure you can buy replacement dice from fantasy flight games so you ought to be able to get a second set of dice here.

Decent is based on the concept of the dungeon crawl. so you shouldn't need to modify the system for an RPG too much. I'm willing to bet you could extrapolate out the combat system for social situations and skill. Heck they used to even have a custom character creator on their website. I'd head over to Fantasy Flight games and see what I could find.
