I'm liking 5th edition so far, and I know there have been several homebrews from previous editions of stuff from various Final Fantasy games. Races, classes, and mechanics like FF6's magicite, FF7's materia, FF8's guardian forces, and limit breaks.

I'm not looking to invent a new system, completely reinvent 5e, or do anything extremely complicated, just add some flavor to some of my future games.

At the moment, I'm just looking for suggestions and maybe open up some discussion.

You say you've seen homebrew of this stuff? Links please?

Well, I've seen home brew of some stuff in earlier editions. FF7 in particular has an entire fan made splat book online.

For 5th edition? Oh, for an earlier edition. OOOOKAY. Gotcha.

Apologies if I sound rude, but he was asking for you to provide links, I have the ability to provide some.

Final Fantasy d20 (http://www.finalfantasyd20.com/ffd20/index.html) (Uses Pathfinder as a base system, and to a certain extent, it works). Has materia and limit breaks. Created by Viladin.

Final Fantasy VII d20 (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?384588-Final-Fantasy-VII-d20-Roleplaying-Game-VERSION-2-0&highlight=Final+Fantasy+VII+d20) (Its own standalone system, fairly certain it's based on Star Wars Saga Edition, though I might be wrong). Also has Materia and Limit Breaks. Created by Marc_In_Da_Room.

d20 Limit Breakers (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?239002-Push-it-to-the-Limit-D-amp-D-3-5-Base-Classes-Rules-Supplement-In-Progress) A unique (though a bit incomplete) limit break system made for 3.5. Created by Ziegander.

Limit Warriors (http://community.wizards.com/forum/previous-editions-general/threads/1131546) Based on a similar principal to d20 Limit Breakers, this was made earlier. Made by Animana

Now when it comes to banging out ideas regarding mechanics, the easiest implementation of Limit Breaks would be to do it in a similar manner to FFd20, making a couple of Limit Breaks for each class, and giving them access to it when below 50% Total HP, with a certain amount of uses per day. This is the easiest implementation, not necessarily the best.

In terms of other mechanics, GFs would be the hardest to do, if you actually want to include all of the junctioning system (judging by OP though, you might not want to do that). Materia would be amazingly hard to balance, same with magicite. Surprisingly the easiest things to do and balance would be classes and races.

EDIT: Just a little bit of odd timing, that's really all that's needed to say.
