Hello everyone,

Being a 17th level Druid and getting one Specialist Wizard level with the Evoker Variant (Unearthed Arcana pag. 62) will allow me to use Energy Substitution (Ex) as a 18th level character (3/day) ?

No. The Energy Substitution Evoker (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/specialistWizardVariants.htm#energySubstitution) is a variant Wizard. You gain one use at each 5th Wizard level, in place of a Bonus Feat.

If you have taken only one level of Wizard, you have not gained this benefit. You don't do so until you take Wizard 5 - that's your fifth level of Wizard. At that time, you can use it 1/day, as a 5th-level Evoker Wizard.

The benefits of this variant are based on your Wizard levels, not your overall levels.
