I'm currently in a campaign where I'm playing a psion (egoist) and my DM is going to let me become an illithid (the other PC's are going to get some similarly powerful rewards as well) without having to deal with the LA or RHD, though I will not gain the spell resistance or at will plane shift abilities. I've always wanted the opportunity to play an illithid in someone's campaign so I want to make the most of this, and to that end I'm looking for any and all mindflayer character options that are both flavourful and useful. I'd like to maintain as close to full manifesting progression as possible so things like Illithid Savant are probably a no go, but otherwise I'm open to suggestions. Before anyone suggests it: Yes, I have talked to my DM about the psionic mind flayer variant; it's a no go.
