Somewhere, in deep space, there lies a field of meteors. Huge chunks of rock, floating peacefully through space. In this field, lies a spacecraft. A battered old thing, covered in thick layers of space-dust and rust. In this spacecraft lies a room. A room once inhabited by strange creatures of an advanced society, but now long abandoned. In the centre of this room stands an object: a washing-machine. This too, has not been used in ages, but now, it's lights flicker and the bucket begins to whir, the pipes at the back burst and water pours out onto the floor in a continous stream. There is a clash, a thump and someone curses. This person was Dr. Bath, who hit his head upon appearing inside the bucket of the washing-machine. Two more thumps can be heard, two more curses are uttered. Now RoKAi and Raistlin1040 are in the machine too. The three are pretty cramped up, but that would not be such a problem, if only...if only the door of the washing-machine wasn't stuck...

I trie to bash the door open (i asume i crept in head first meaning that my feet lie to the door, if not i try to do it with my elbow or by stretching out)

*WOOOO we didn't die howdiego Dr. Bath, raistlin, my friends. I have gone throught the strangest thing. i came to a desk and I went on after eating a candy, I CAN SPEAK ALL LANGUAGES YAY.
Could you help me trying to basj this thing open plz?*

RoKAi: yes, you crept in head first, but you have been twisted around somehow. Also, bashing the door doesn't seem to help very much.

Suddenly, there is a flash and three people appear in the room (but not in the washing-machine).
The three people are Almighty Salmon, Aegeus and Duchess_of_Elysian. All of them are dressed in tuxedos.
Oh, and I suppose them will need a descrition of the rest of the room...
The washing machine is in the centre of the room, and there's water pouring out of it's back, forming a huge puddle on the floor. There's a bench against the east wall and a metal sliding door at the west wall. there seems to be no way of opening the door. There is a sign hung on the washing-machine, but it's completely unreadable. Not that it's not neatly written, it just seems to be written in a different alphabet. The floor is made up out of light green and white tiles in a chessboard pattern, and the walls and ceiling are made up out of some sort of metal.

Almighty Salmon: You free the poor suckers inside the machine. You notice one of them has a rather big tongue. None of them are dressed properly, and, for some reason, they are all soaked.

I step out of the machine.

"No problem, Uhm. What the heck i'll just ask. What were you three doing inside a washing machine? And whats up with that guy's tongue?

and thnx for getting us out it was kinda crammed up inthere.
btw, we stepped into a washing machine on a strange island and got in a place not affected by time and space. we went through a door and appeared here.

Funnily enough i can never remember where i got that nickname..

Anyway, Suppose i better explain what we're doing here.. Me and my two friends here work for an agency that monitors disruptions in the space-time continuum. We've been sent deep into space to annihilate recent series of disruptions.

I inspect the washing machine closely and then look for other signs on the walls and/or doors.

RoKAi: The washing-machine looks exaclty like the one on the island, except for the sign: it has some lights, a big red button and drawers for water and soap. Oh, another difference are huge amounts of water leaking out of it at the back. And no, there aren't any other signs.

I try waving my Giga Geiger Counter around the room, hoping to pick up a disruption.

Almighty Salmon: there is an enormous amount of disruption around the washing-machine and the three guys who came out of it.

Looking around, one of the tuxedo'd, teleporting people says "Ummm... Salmon? Do you remember how to get rid of time/space disruptions? I seem to have forgotten."

Salmon looks in his pocket to find two Astronaut Pills and a Dehydrated Water Packet

"I dont think these will help much.."

Meanwhile, the water keeps rising. All of your feet get soaking wet.

"Oh dear, we need to get out of here fast.

We have teleporters. But we also need to destroy this disruption."

I look at the back of the washing machine. Is there any way to stop the gushing water?

...No...Your company has teleporters. Non-portable teleporters, which sent you here, but won't be of any use beyond that. check your inventory, you don't have a teleporter. Sorry about the confusion if I wasn't clear about it.

Rejakor: There doesn't seem to be any obvious way of stopping the water. The cause seems to be that one of the metallic pipes in the back has burst, and now it is emitting water at high speed.

[Blood]

Blood, also wearing a tuxedo, appears in the room. "What the-" He looks down and notices that he's getting sopping wet. "Well that sucks."

[Almighty Salmon]

"Right then. Let's find a way out of here and fast."

I look around the bench.
How heavy and how big is it?

[Rejakor]

"Hmm." Rejakor goes and examines the metal bench and sliding door. What is on the other side of it? Are there any controls?

[Almighty Salmon]

"I have no idea, i thought maybe we could try using the bench as a ram on the door. But considering it's metal.."

Rejakor: There are no controls on the door or anywhere on the walls for that matter (no, not on the ceiling or the floor either...). It seems the bench can be opened though.

Salmon: The bench is stuck to the wall. It too, is made out of metal.

[Almighty Salmon]

"oooh"

I open the bench

[Blood]

Blood looks down at his pills and water packet, wondering what they do.

[Rejakor]

Rej: I watch as Salmon opens the bench.

Salmon & Rejakor: The bench contains a small space with a roll of metal cable in it.

Blood: The astronaut pills are food, one suffices for a day. The dehydrated water? Well, it's like powder where you need to add water to make soup out of it, only, if you add water here, it becomes water...I suppose you could call it instant water.

"A roll of metal cable.. Darnit, i was hoping for a control panel for the door.. but meh.

Im going to search the floor.
I'll look for a trap door or a dropped item or something.

Rej: I pick up the metal cable and say "Hmmm. Well, this isn't as helpful as I thought it would be."

[Blood]

He wades over to the bench and looks inside as well. Blood tries to pull out the metal cables. "Could be useful."

((How long/heavy are they?))

"Give me the cable"

[Rejakor]

Rej: I look over at the busted pipe. "Well, salmon, we're going to need to get out of here or fix that pipe or we're not going to be fixing any paradoxes."

Could I use the wire to fix it, or bend the pipe back into position?

[Rejakor]

Rej: I look at Raist. "What? You want the cable? What for?"

Blood: It's 5 metres long, but it's only one roll of cable.

Rejakor: The wire is not a pipe, so no. And since the pipe has burst, bending it won't help either.

"Just in case"

[Almighty Salmon]

"Maybe we could clog up the pipe with something..?"

[Rejakor]

I walk over and look at the washing machine's controls. Is there some kind of way I could turn off the water?

Rejakor: There's only one button: the red one.

[Rejakor]

I press it.

[Almighty Salmon]

(Salmon whispers to Rej)

"Y'know we have to destroy disruptions.. well, those three guys have a large amount of disruption coming from them too.. does that mean we have to..?"

Rejakor: The bucket inside the machine spins for a while, and then stops.

Meanwhile, everyone's kneedeep in the water.

[Blood]

"Those cables could be useful. Let's keep them." Blood tries to estimate how much time they have left with the water's flood rate.

I shrug and pick up the cable.

Raislin: Rejakor already has it.

Rej: I walk over to the sliding door and check it for openings/slots in it that require me to put the cable in thereby using the electrical current to open the door. Also, I try to stomp through the floor.

Rej: Rej says to salmon "I'm more worried about this water. If we don't get out of here we'll drown. We'll decide what to do about the disruptions later."

Rejakor: No openings or anything. also, the cable's just a cable, it doesn't look like it's meant for an electrical circuit. Stomping through the floor doesn't work either. It's too sturdy.

Salmon: You don't find anything.

[Rejakor]

I look for openings in the roof, or anything we can use for a battering ram.

[Almighty Salmon]

*Salmon nods at Rejakor*

I'm going to examine each wall thoroughly, hoping to find a switch or something.

[Blood]

Blood hmm's.

((Is the leftover water draining out somewhere?))

Rejakor & Salmon: No such luck, for either of you.

Blood: Nope, that's why it keeps rising.

I step in front of the door and say "Open!"

((Wait, it's still rising? I thought that when the washing machine stopped, it wasn't rising anymore?))

Blood wades over to the washing machine and looks it over; all sides of it, even on the inside, for anything at all.

[Rejakor]

I also take the sign on the washing machine. The one I can't read. Perhaps it's meaning will become clear later on.

Rejakor:...if only life was that easy...

Blood: Nothing interesting to see...

I'll take my spear and tap it on the washing machine.

[Rejakor]

I push the roller door with all my might and maybe sideways.

[Almighty Salmon]

"Okay, im getting desperate."

I try using my hands or a part of my tuxedo to cover up the burst pipe

Rejakor: You manage to slide open the door to a crack. the water flows out into the hallway beyond.

Salmon: You get wet(ter).

[Rejakor]

If someone finds a way out, I help them open it, get it set up, and evacuate. If someone finds a way to drain the water, I help them do that. If a new threat appears after the water is drained and someone else finds a way out, I help them get it set up and evacuate.

Blood tastes the water.

Salmon: The door won't budge any further.

Blood: The water is cold and fresh.

"Well atleast we're draining the water out now.."

Maybe we can use Raistlin's spear as a lever to open the door if theres enough space to fit it in.

"Well we have a supply of freshwater ... although it is probably going to get dirty...Drink up, everyone, while you still can!" Blood begins to drink as much water as he needs, before it all flows out through the crack in the door.

Raistlin takes a drink of the water.

Salmon drinks some of the water, Then gets back to thinking how to get out of this room.

The water has been largely drained away and now only covers your feet. It is only rising slowly now.

I too take a drink of water, then I go to the dore and search for something that looks like a micro, if i find one I say into the micro "open" in the same tongue as the words on the sign on the washing machine.
If I find none I still say it when standing close to the door.
I use my loincloth to try and stuff the bursted pipe for a bit

RoKAi: There is nothing to be found on the walls... The door doesn't open when you say "open", and stuffing the tube doesn't really seem to help either (your loincloth gets flushed out by the pressure).

[Blood]

After he's done drinking, Blood goes back over to the washing machine to see if the water is any different at the source.

((There is still water coming out the back, correct? It's coming out of the bursted pipe? And the water is still rising, even though the door is partly opened?))

Blood: Yup, you're right on all three counts. The water is no different at the source though.

[Blood]

Blood tries to trace the pipe in both directions. One end into the washing machine, the other end...?

Ed: If we used the bench as a battering ram on the door. would it do much?

Blood: Both ends end up in the washing machine...oddly enough. There IS a second tube though, that dissapears into the floor. This tube seems much more sturdy even.

Salmon: The bench is welded to the wall.

[Blood]

Blood puts his hand over the second tube, trying to sense if there is moving water in it. If there isn't, he tries to see how close he can come to pulling it out of the floor.

I'll use my spear to pry open the door more.

"Mnph sfther amph" <hello people> (I'm still getting used to having aa giant tongue.

I stuff one of my vests into the break in the tube, hopefully stopping or at least slowing the flow of water. I then try to wedge my spear into the crack in the door and lever it open some more.

I also fill any of my empty bottles with water and have a drink.

Blood: The tube is too thick to sense if there's water running through it. Pulling it out of the floor might be possible, since it seems to be twisted into a slot in the floor.

Raistlin & Dr. Bath: Working together, you manage to open the door somewhat more. It is now about 0,25 meters open.

Dr. Bath: Your vest gets flushed out of the tube by the pressure.

"Hm, Dr. Bath. I notice your bottles are shut with corks. Maybe they could help stop the water flooding out?"

[Dr. Bath]

Fine, I'll squeeze through the door and have a look at the corridoor on the pther side

[Blood]

Blood decides that it isn't as important, and goes over to help the others pull open the door more. He keeps pulling until the door is open enough to let someone slide through.

Dr. Bath: You end up in a corridor shaped like a horseshoe. This door is located at the bend, but both on the right and left side of the U-shape there are doors.

Blood: Squeezing the door open further doesn't seem to work, especially on your own.

[Dr. Bath]

I shall retreive my vest and try to stopper the water with a cork. Then I shall squeeze through the door

I also squeeze through the door to investigate.

(im guessing the doors in the corridor are the same as the door in here?)

[Blood]

Blood lets go, but immediately grabs the door and tries to hold it if it starts to close by itself. If it doesn't begin to close, he goes over to see if he can help clog the pipe. "Use your vest and corks, I'll see if the tux helps." Hopefully, with a vest, a tuxedo, and two corks, the pressure doesn't blow them out.

[Dr. Bath]

After trying to stop the water I head along the left part of the horseshoe, with my cutlass drawn

I go with Dr. Bath and try to open the door on the left side of the horseshoe a crack like Rej did with the first door.

* let the washing machine for a minute and all come and help to get the door op en as far as we can (when i can i put my back against the side of the door and my feet against the wall and then stretch my legs to push it open as far as I can

[Blood]

Blood sighs, puts his now wet tuxedo back on, and goes back over to the door to help the others open it more.

[Dr. Bath]

I'll try and lever open the door on the left of the horseshoe with my spear and cutlass

Dr. Bath: Even a cork won't plug the hole (it's not big enough, anyways).

Blood: There seems to be no plugging to the pipe.

The doors in the hallway each have a button next to them (including the one you came through). Also, it's quite dark in the hallway, as it doesn't seem to have lights. Come to think of it, neither did the previous room. all the light was being emitted by the washing-machine.

I feel my way using the wall back to the first door and press the button to open it. (well i hope it opens it..)

Then i feel my way back to the door on the left side of the corridor and press the button on that side.

Salmon: You open both doors completely. The room at the end of the left side contains a big tube with a control panel which is holding some sort of alien and a second controlpanel that spans the whole curved wall. The water enters in that room too, now.

[Blood]

Blood slides through the door in the washing machine room out into the horseshoe hallway and promptly becomes an NPC for a while. He gives the air one last swipe of the Giga Geiger Thingy, though.

"Wow.. An Alien.." :smalleek:

I aim my Giga Geiger Counter at it, in curiousity.

Blood: Barely any reading in the hallway.

Salmon: Massive Giga Counter readings.

[Almighty Salmon]

"Ah, right.. that's two things we need to destroy.. I wonder if any of these buttons will do the trick :smallconfused:"

I look over the buttons to see if there are any instructions or labels.

I go in and walk with caution to the alien speaking in the same tongue as on the washing machine making no sudden moves or anything.
in alien: *hello, who are you and what are we doing here?*
I do make sure he hears us, if he attacks me I try to kill him with my spear ( dodge whatever attacks he does and stab him)

Salmon: The buttons are pretty much unlabelled. One of them is suspiciously close to a speaker though. The three other buttons are a blue lever, a red switch and a green button.

RoKAi: The alien is in a big tube...

[Almighty Salmon]

"hmm, RoKAi. Maybe if you hold down that button next to the speaker and talk into it you could communicate with it? Just a guess.

[Aegeus]

OOC: A few hours ago this was dead, and now it's 4 pages!

Aegeus materializes with a *ZOT*. Noting the rising water, and the failed attempts to clog it, he decides to squeeze through the open door. He waits for everyone to leave, and then tries to force it shut.
"Space Stations tend to have very high pressure resistance. I think that it can withstand the rising water fairly well, even if the room fills up. Also, once the water rises high enough, it might even short out the washing machine and remove a nasty source of instability."

He pauses for a minute, and then notices something. "How much water can they have on a space station, anyway? Why don't we just wait for the water to run out?"

If he can get the door shut and everyone leaves, Aegeus will head into the control room.

[Almighty Salmon]

"Not a bad idea Aegeus. Once everyone leaves that room just press the button next to the door to close it, i think that should work."

I press the button next to the speaker, hoping nothing bad will happen.

Salmon: You hear a crackling and the alien opens its eyes very suddenly in surprise. Slwoly, the thing turns in his liquid-filled tube and stares at you.
"Qvourt?"

[Almighty Salmon]

(oh dear, wheres RoKAi when you need him :smalltongue: )

I try speaking to the alien.
"Uhm, Hello? Can you hear me?"

[Blood]

If everyone is out of the washing machine room, Blood helps to close the door as much as he can. He adds to Aegeus, "The washing machine will be overloaded with water pressure, and hopefully explode. It's got a high Giga Rating, we don't want it anyway. Blood then heads into the control room, since he can't see around to anywhere else because of the lack of light.

Blood looks at all the controls, and up at the alien. He also tries to speak to it, nervously. "Do you understand us?"

Blood: You close the door, eliminating all light sources in the ship. Only the tube gives off a faint glow.

The alien looks around at the players and repeats"Qvourt?".
I'll add a description of him, just so you know what he looks like: his body seems to be very scrawny, tiny and gooish, but his head is enormous and bulgy (but also gooish). The alien is green (pretty much the colour of his text) and his wearing a mask, of which the pipe dissapears in the ceiling of the tube. He also has some weird, organ like whiskers and he only has three fingers on each hand, each of them ending up in a sharp purple nail.

"Damnit, we'll need RoKAi to speak to it.. Maybe we should see what's behind the door on the right side while we wait"

Salmon: Does "maybe" mean you're gonna, or not?

I once again feel my way over to the door on the right side of the corridor and press the button to open it.

Salmon: On the way there, you suddenly hear a click. A grid of lazers appears in the hallway, both behind you, and in front of you. Hey, look on the bright side: at least you have some light now!

Raistlin: Nope, you just have your toy surprise.

"Just.. Great.. :smallannoyed: I wonder if they set off some sort of alarm or are lethal..

Now that there's light i look around and see if there's any way to deactivate them from where i am.

Salmon: it's not a lot of light...But no, there doesn't seem to be any button of any sort in sight where you are. just the grids and the walls.

OOC: How come RoKai can understand the alien? Is it just because of the instabilities? Also, did we succeed in closing the door?

Duchess, who has been following the others around and silently assessing the situations, stays in the alien's room and says "Qvourt!" back to the alien, hoping for a reaction.

[Rejakor]

Rej: I push the button next to the door, trying to close it. If it doesn't close on it's own, I help blood push it closed. After doing that, I walk over to where Salmon is trapped by a grid of lasers. "Just hold still, don't panic and for Freg's sake don't touch any of those lasers." I look around for any buttons on my side of the lasers.

((Also, the metal cable I have, it's basically really strong rope, right? No connectors or shiny stuff on it?))

I speak through the micro to the alien:
"hello, who are you? and waht are you doing here, could you help us with some problems like shutting the washing machine down so it stops pouring water, and putting off the lasers would be nice too ((smiles friendly))

I shout down the corridor.

"There were some buttons and switches in the room with the alien, Maybe one of them controls these lasers!"

[Duchess_of_Elysian]

Hearing Salmon's shout, Duchess examines the room for any buttons or control panels.

[Dr. Bath]

I shall bash any of the buttons next to the alien, exept for the speaker button.

I wouldn't do that Dr. Bath, what if you push a button that kills everyone or turns the lasers into Salmon's direction. Let me ask the alien first if he knows which button to press.

Awww, but I want to accidentally kill everyone.

Duchess: The alien looks at you and says "Lobryi?". Also, you can't make sense of the buttons, none of them are labelled.

Rejakor: Yes, it's just an ordinary cable. And there's no buttons on your side of the lasers either. Closing the door isn't a problem.

RoKAi: The alien answers "I am Slaan, of Überon, I am the pilot of this vessel. My days have passed ages ago, and my companions have shed their shells, but I, Slaan, live on".
To everyone else, this sounds like "Bigo Slaan, com Überon, bigo bell shurok dak. Bogo slyvr qlourt qagi, qagi brochacq uglac mogi, slon Qi, Slaan, barucyq".

Duchess looks out into the hallway at the laser grids, without actually entering the hallway. (Are they perpendicular or parallel to the floor? If they are parallel, how high off the ground are they?)

Turning back to the laser grid, she puts her hand near one of the laser beams, trying to figure out if it's hot or not. To anyone listening, she says "Do you think the lasers activate a trap when crossed, or if they themselves are the trap by way of being harmful to the touch?"

Aegeus takes off the jacket of his Tuxedo and sticks part of the fabric into the lasers. "Let's see how strong these lasers are. If it's not very damaging, then we might be able to stop Salmon from getting fried by putting something in the way to block it temporarily. So, will it roast my jacket or merely singe it?"

Duchess shouts to Aegeus, "No wait! What if the trap is actually triggered by something passing through the lasers, and the lasers themselves are not deadly? If we test them we could accidentally kill Salmon. Although if we do nothing he'll die of starvation eventually, but, ya know, we should consider all angles."

"And I know we have to kill the alien, Salmon. I figure we'll let RoKai get as much info out of it as she can and then we'll destroy the control panel keeping it alive."

I take a drink of the fresh water around my feet and the lasers.

"I also have these 2 food pill things which can keep me going for a bit. So im doing okay at the moment."

I suddenly notice Aegeus has stuck his Tux into the lasers.

If the Tux doesn't get ripped into shreds, instantly burnt to a crisp or harmed. I will instantly dive through the lasers to the door on the right side of the corridor, hoping to avoid any trap that may have been activated. However, if the Tuxedo gets destroyed or harmed in any way i will sit still where i am.

duchess, this technology is very advanced and maybe the traps were activated by the last one (Slaan not included) and they work on biorythm or something DNA-patern-detector.
besides he is a PILOT, a pilot pilots the ship and doesn't concern himself about anything else, if he seems to be evil i won't hesitate to kill him.

Ooooh yes it's possible. think about this, if you work in a nuclear reactor and it explodes, you survive but breath in the polluted air, drink the polluted water, you take up the radioactive isotopes or whatever we are facing here, causing you to become one too. In case of radioactive stuff, you will boil from the inside out.

"Alright, I have a really bad idea and I'm going to try it. Salmon, I need you to duck down as well as you can without, you know, killing yourself. Just in case this goes horribly wrong." After he does so, Duchess slides her Giga Geiger Counter against the wall outside the door so it's blocking the hole the laser is coming out of. The side of the counter without the display is pointed away from the wall, and she angles it so if the laser reflects off the surface it's angled away from both herself and Salmon. She does not allow any part of her arm or hand to cross the lasers.

"Okay, so the laser is fairly low intensity, it won't penetrate metal very well. I'll contribute my Giga, so maybe we can block enough lasers to let Salmon out."

Aegeus gives his Giga Geiger Counter to Duchess and returns to the control room. He asks Rokai to ask the alien what the other control panel does. "We know that the buttons by the tube control the alien's life support, but what does the wall-sized panel control?"

Rej: I take out my metal cable, and see if I can block the lasers with it.

Duchess: Your counter now has a small, but rather deep hole in it. The lasers are in two directions, meaning both parallel and perpendicular to the floor, as they form a grid. Since the grid has squares of about 20cm sides, half of that at the walls, and the hallway is three meters wide and three meters high, there are 28 laser beams between you and Salmon, 28 between Salmon and the door (second grid) and 56 in total (both grids) between you and the door.

Rejakor: Nope, you can't block the lasers with the cable, it's too thin.

Using my tuxedo and some water, I buff up the back of my giga geiger counter, until it's as shiny as I can make it, and then I try and use it to reflect one of the lazar beems at the base of one of the others.

I pull my giga out of the way of the lasers. "Looks like that alien is our best hope."

I look around and look for something I can break off, to make a metal club.

Duchess puts her Giga Geiger Counter on the ground (in a position such that the laser will be burning through an untouched area of the metal and not the previously made hole), blocking one of the vertical lasers right outside the door. She then holds out Aegeus' Counter in the path of the lowest horizontal laser, creating a wider opening in the first grid. If the opening looks wide enough for her to crawl through, she does so quickly, joining Salmon on the other side of the first laser grid. She immediately takes her Counter off the floor and removes Aegeus' Counter from the laser path once she's on the other side, hoping the damage to them isn't too bad.

RoKAi: "Most of those buttons don't work anymore...It's been a long time since I used them, but it would help if I could see them. Could you open the window for Slaan?

Rej: "Rokai, you tell that thing if it doesn't tell us how to deactivate these lasers i'm going to personally rip it's reproductive organs out through it's face." I say, and then look at the grid of lasers. Looking around the corridor, I look for any vents, control panels, or openable panels.

"You know, we don't need to block all of the lasers. We only need to block enough so there's a space to crawl through. With a couple more thick metal items, we could probably get through."

Rej: I look at the veritable wall of lasers, and look over at Duchess. "The only way we're getting through that is in pieces. Look, those aliens, or whoever made this spaceship must have created a way to turn it off. We just need to find that and use it. Either that, or Salmon is screwed. You'd need a tank to get through there."

Rejakor: You find no panel or such.

Duchess: At the sides, the openings are only ten centimeters, making for total of thirty centimeters.

"Why don't you wait for Rokai to tell us what's going on? We don't even know what that damn thing is saying." I chuckle, and look over at where the alien is in it's tube and Rokai is talking to it. I wave my giga at the walls. Are they giving off disruption?

Rejakor: The walls? No, they're not giving off any readings.

Rej: "Sigh. I wish I had a multi-tool." I say, and see if I can pull some of the panels off the walls with my bare hands or using my giga as a pry bar.

Rej: What about the floors or the ceilings? Can I rip bits off them?

Rejakor: Same thing. Solid metal, of an unknown variety, by the way. There aren't even stitches between the walls and the ceiling or floor. It's as if the entire ship was made out of one chunk of metal.

(There is a U-shaped hallway. At one end is a room with an alien in it only RoKai can talk to who claims he's the pilot of the ship and last survivor of his race. By telling RoKai which buttons to push on a massive control panel in the same room, it managed to open a window so now we have a stunning view. At the other end of the hallway is another door, this one blocked by 2 laser grids with Salmon trapped between them hoping not to starve to death. We've discovered metal of sufficient thickness blocks the lasers at least temporarily.)

Resisting the urge to throw something at the crack in the window, Duchess pushes the button that looks like its been sneezed on. If nothing happens, she goes back to the hallway and examines the holes in the walls where the lasers are being emitted.

Duchess sidles up to Blood somewhat conspiratorially (is that a word?) and whispers, "It seems eventually we're going to have to, well, destroy these guys, but do you find it odd that we were not issued any weapons or other destructive tools? Maybe there's some other way we're supposed to rid them of the disturbance. Ya know, one that doesn't involve large amounts of violence. What do you think?"

I wouldn't suggest violence against us that came through the portal, since we're the ones who are armed.

However I do think that it would be a good idea to try and rid us of these 'disturbances'.

It's a cutlass, so about a metre long and few centimetres thick. Although it is very rusty, so I don't think it will last as long if at all when blocking the laser.
