This unassuming golden band has no ornamentation nor does it give off any magical auras; it is immune to divination, inspection and other spells designed to find out it's true nature. This ring was created by Ultimecia and it is this ring that corrupted poor Edea Kramer. The ring will only
activate for those with true magical talent the ring's passive abilities are:
- While wearing the ring, the wearer gains advantage on any action that is magical in nature
- While wearing the ring, the wearer has a bonus to the Insight skill (WIS) -- equivalent to Expertise in Insight
- Through the ring Ultimecia exerts her will and the wearer will never willingly part with it
The following are the ring's active abilities:
- The wearer is able to cast a teleportation spell to any location the wearer has been once per long rest the wearer is able to teleport up to double their character level in creatures
- The wearer is able to cast an impenetrable magical shield (around only their person) that lasts for 5 minutes. The wearer can still be thrown or knocked back, simply not injured. This ability is available once per long rest
Starting at Level 10, the ring is able to exert some of Ultimecia's influence on the character's decisions. Ultimecia desires above all to rule the world and make all other beings cower in fear of her. The wearer will make an Ultimecia like decision once each session. As the wearer increases levels, the power of Ultimecia over the wearer increases--Ultimecia has been known to cause mental distress to the wearer if they make un-Ultimecia like decisions (giving food to the poor, donating a magical item to the College of Magic, etc.). Any attempts by a third party to remove it will be met with the full brunt of the wearer's power boosted by that of Ultimecia. Party members may notice when Ultimecia has exerted her power over their party member by a subtle change in eye color; the eyes will change from their natural color to a lit from within, golden color. This golden color will be seen only briefly and on rare occasions until the player reaches level 20.
After the player reaches level 20, the player is must never be allowed to use the ring or its powers (passive or active). If the player succumbs to the temptation to use the ring, Ultimecia will take control of their body and walk the realm once more.
