Echoes of lost civilizations, The island of Vazgral

Heya folks. In the coming session my party will explore an abyssal island, called Vazgral, made of the remains of an old demon lord of the same name, demon lord of ruined cities and civilizations, jealousy and loss.

As part of the exploration, I'd love to have the party see... echoes... remains... imprints of lost civilizations of their world. But being fairly new to the world of Golarion, I have very little knowledge of it.

I was wondering if you, the people of the forum who are more knowledgeable of the history of the world, Might suggest such echoes- Short descriptions of ruins, scenes, ghosts of people and such that may have been drawn and assimilated in this abyssal island. This is mostly for flavor, though if you have an idea for a roleplay interaction that could be great.

Most of the players know quite little of Golarion as well, so the scenes can't rely on too much info/ subtlety I'm afraid.

Also, I'm looking for one main past civilization who may have had a reason to worship demon lords, mainly one of darkness, secrets, lust and assassination, for a specific encounter I'd like to build there.

Seems good but try looking at Xoveron. He's the demon lord of ruins and destroyed civilisations for Pathfinder. He's also the patron for nabassu demons so maybe you can work those into the island. Maybe Vazgral could have been some ex-servant or an alias being used or something.
With nabassus, means there are ghouls so you can work with that as well. Fill the city with ghosts and gargoyles and a few berserk golems...maybe a few insane demons (driven mad by something-maybe a special/unique demon) you have yourself a dangerous place for PC's.

Hmmmm... The themes and general layout of the island and hot it is played I allready got worked out. I'm just looking for remants of old empires and civilizations, of which I do not know enough, having not explored the world of Golarion enough. I'm looking more for brief descriptions of past civilizations, and possibly a small sceneto flavor these out each.

Can anyone even just name some ancient Golarion civilizations, so I might look for entireso f them, such as this one? I know there was a great human emprie called Azlanti, but little else than that.

Oh cool! Hey, is this nation the background for the "rise of the runelords" AP? I haven't read it or played it, but the name sounds a but too fitting...
