War priest ability question

So the war domain lvl 1 feature that gives you a bonus action
Attack after using the attack action. Does attack action only count for a melee or ranged attack or does a spell that features an attack roll count aswell?

I believe the "attack action" is different than the "cast a spell action" even in those cases where the spell itself is an attack.

True, you got the "Attack" action and the "Cast a spell" action. Extra Attack replaces the "Attack" action.

No it doesn't, it simply allows you to make an extra attack when using the attack action.
