vs.

Uncle Max (From Hobbes and Calvin):

Evidence:

Their mustaches.
Their wacky, devil may care attitude and boyish good looks.
I dunno, they just look sorta similar, I guess.

thoughts? Frankly I don't buy it.

Well any true Garfield fan knows that Lyman has not been seen since 1988, which is around the time Uncle Max showed up. Did he run off and take on a new name, perhaps coercing Calvin's parents into playing along with the deception? Or more likely, Uncle Max is his true identity and "Lyman" is the lie. Either way, nobody has seen him in the last 27 years.

Well, there's this from Uncle Max:

And we all know that Garfield is imaginary:

Seems pretty obvious to me.

In fact, Lyman was the original owner of slobbery mutt Odie. For a very brief period, Calvins uncle on his dads side of the family comes to stay but this was only a very temporary thing. After appearing for one week,

Actually, not entirely true. He did show up 4/2/13 (http://garfield.wikia.com/wiki/Lyman?file=0570a980577701301625001dd8b71c47.gif) in the newspaper Jon is reading.
