Hello Folks of the playground! A couple of days ago I promised a campaign journal about my Anima campaign and I will do so. I am not able to recount everything that happened but I will try to do so to the best of my ability. A lot of things happened in this game so I am going to start with a small background into anima, along with a small bit into the characters then go onto the story. My grammar is quite bad, I am going to try my best to make sure its reasonable to understand and read, but if it seems a bit hard to read that is the reason why. Feel free to point it out, just don't be a jerk about it. Questions are also always welcome.

There is alot to set into place for this so I think I will get the brass tacks down mostly. First thing about this world is that almost all supernatural abilities is met with fear and hostility mostly, other worlds in this setting are more forgiving for this but we are on the human world and we know almost nothing about magic. Some factions would rather destroy it and remain ignorant then try and learn it.
Now I think this next bit is a bit more Gm storytelling and bringing us an idea in our heads but most countries in this world pretty much have a real world inspiration, The country we are in is basically modern day islamic cultures, as far as I understand. The City of Karjah, in the lands of Kushistan is where the party lives and does business.

The four supernatural power types is Magic, Psionics, Ki, and technically Nemesis, there is one more but its not really its own separate thing it uses energy from either mana like stuff called zeon, or Ki, both Ki and Nemesis are learned the same way but Nemesis is supposed to weaken supernatual stuff.

I am going to go with codes for the players as well
Arakhan's player, U as a name, is pretty experienced at running games, He projects a lot of confidence really easily and is quite good at talking a lot of us have confidence issues in one way or another so he takes the lead with us helping him out. He takes a lot of spotlight but sometimes we come up with something great and take it from him with no issue.
Samuel's player, me or S as a name, is actually pretty inexperienced at a lot of things in games, but I learn things every session.
Nabeel's player, or Z, Gets kicked out after a while but he was here up until his character died, Not good with children, yet he wants to be a teacher.
Ashlynn's player, Or B, She she made her characters last name as a reference to something in real life history just to mess with Z, is less experienced then me but we are all friends in this group.
Dunram's player, Or C, He has a tendency to die alot in anima, he just makes bad choices and is about as experienced as B. His characters are Dunram, Virgil, and Horacio. He is a nice guy, just a bit bad with the doing stuff with the party.
Jin's player, or J, he is the newest member of our group and I am unsure if he will appear anytime soon in these journals, he is the gm's boyfriend, this gives him no special treatment. He is also pretty shy.

Samuel Thorn: This one is my character so I know the most about him. I made him a town guard in lucrecio, his backstory is that he is from a highborn family, second youngest child out of five. He has a bit of an inferiority complex as he feels his siblings are far better then him at everything. The only thing he has his siblings don't is a family heirloom given to him by his grandfather. Lucrecio itself is German mixed with Renaissance Italy very geared towards progress, and the term for people from there is lucrence. one last note about lucrecio, is that everyone from there pretty much never tell the whole truth unless they have to. also has a ring on his right middle finger, it doesn't come up much but its secretly a magic item, its so secret Samuel didn't know until recently.
Arakhan Subani: He is quite the character, He is a noble from Styigia, and a royal guard. He has a sister named Isara who was supposed to inherit the family fortunes. Unfortunetly they had to move to Kushistan in order to keep their wealth and status and inheritance laws in Kushistan forbid girls from being heirs so he was given everything. He works the hardest to make sure everyone is treated as equals, and is kind of a Boss. Styigia is Fantasy ancient Egypt so Arakhan and Isara wear alot of jewelry to show they are nobles.
Nabeel: This guy is also from a highborn family like Samuel but where as Samuel is closer to a noble he is a merchant family. This was our only supernatural player character when we started. I never learned too much about him but in his backstory he was pretty much a slave, then when he got back to kushistan he returned to his typical stereotype of hate women and make bad assumptions apparently. He learned his supernatural stuff in nanwe, fantasy African cultures, while he was a slave. His supernatural ability was to summon monsters using Ki
Dunram:This man is a hunter from frozen lands to the far north called Hendell. Hendell is the opposite of Kushistan in the stand point of Kushistan is a burning pit of misery, where hendell is a frozen pit of misery. Dunram places survival above anything else, but he is also a big shot and likes to talk alot of game. I don't know much about him. I believe hendell is fantasy vikings
Ashlynn: Ashlynn, She is a privateer or former privateer she is looking to get a debt settled so she can actually own her ship. her hand was forced pretty badly as her ship needs repairs so she is looking for easier, less destructive to her property, income along with wanting to start her own trading company. She is from Fantasy england or Arlan.
Virgil belladante or The Jackal: This character confused the heck out of me both in and out of game, out of game C kept saying the person was androgynous and you literally can't tell their gender. I use this in game and get slapped. Background wise it was supposed to be very robin hood Steal from the rich give to the poor, They wore a mask looking like a jackal as that was their thieving persona.
Jin motoyasu:He is a noble from shivat, He came to Karjah to negotiate trade relations he has personal matters, he wishes the destruction of any and all slave trading.
Horacio Menendez this is to be edited later as he actually hasn't come into the campaign yet

I might do some different things from the view point of different characters, but for now let us go with just Samuel

Samuel was patrolling his typical routes around town, Sam was without a doubt a hard worker and he was talented in many fields he hardly got sick and he had a bright mind, his major flaw was his lack of confidence he was very shy and didn't project himself well. Despite being more of a local militia he still has to report to the military base for everything. The man who trained Samuel, Sergeant Hartman, called him over to give him a job to do. it was there he met with the man who would be in charge of this mission, the man Alfred helgen stein was quite loud and cheery. Samuel knew this mission was going to be one long away from home. Alfred explained that they needed someone to go to the city of Karjah and set up a foothold for lucrecio, and they felt he was up to the task. Samuel had no reason to reject and this could prove to be some time needed to just get away from his perfect siblings, Samuel also thought that he was chosen for this for he had bothered to learn a second language, The one most commonly spoken in Kushistan.

It was at least a weeks worth of travel to get there via caravan, Samuel learned a lot of the culture he was going to. He didn't like the idea of slavery and it wasn't something a man from lucrecio really did. He accepted that he would need to look like he didn't care. As soon as he had arrived he knew he needed to find work he needed to find a place to live. He didn't quite make it to the inn as a large man had appeared before him, he was a mountain of muscle and flesh making Samuel look small in comparison which wasn't an easy task. the large man asked in latin "Hello friend, do you speak Jashu?" his accent heavy and thick, Samuel replied in Jashu that he did and the large man looked Samuel up and down said "My name is Arakhan Subani, I am wondering why a man from lucrecio is doing here." Samuel responded quickly a lie made up on the spot "My name is Samuel Thorn, I am not exactly welcome back home." Arakhan looked a bit quizzical as he put his hand on his sword "A traitor?" he asked which Samuel quickly said without letting even a second pass "ah no more like a rival family got me kicked out in order to weaken my own family." Arakhan gave a nod and drew his hand away from his weapon "Ah, politics. I am wondering since you carry a weapon are you a soldier." Samuel kept answering the man's question this time not lying "I was a town guard, not as strict training as soldiers but I am trained like one yes." this causes Arakhan to give a small smile "I am looking for a bodyguard, I would like to test you if you don't mind." Samuel thought this would be good for him as they both bought quarter staffs, the fight however didn't last long as Samuel hadn't gotten used to fighting on sand yet and was beaten down hard and knocked unconscious one of the last things he heard was his ribs popping.

Samuel wakes up in a bed about five days later unsure of where he is, a woman is staring at him and seeing that she get up promptly leaves. Another man not moments later he speaks in Jashu but Samuel pretends to not understand the man's name was Nabeel and was apperantly the only reason Samuel was even alive, after a few moments when it looks like Samuel doesn't understand Nabeel sighs and says under his breath "Stupid foreigners." Nabeel leaves soon after seeing that he won't get anything extra. As if a string of people were lining up Arakhan arrives seconds later and Samuel thanks him, though Arakhan had little reason to make sure Samuel got back on his feet he did so anyways. Samuel felt a debt of honor to the man and decided he would help him until his debt was repaid Arakhan accepted happily and even gave Samuel a room. Apperantly while Samuel was knocked out Arakhan purchased a business and even filled it with some interesting people. as well as they were being followed while in town apperantly Arakhan had attracted some unwanted friends. Samuel understood immediately, those accompanying arakhan were himself, another man from a place called hendell, named Dunram, a hunter who prefers the bow and Nabeel the doctor who said under his breath once more since he thought the pale people couldn't understand "Should we really bring the slaves along?" unconciously Samuel clicked his tongue and looked to arakhan who infact gave him look towards Nabeel a displeased look.

They had decided teams before hand and it was arakhan and Dunram on one and Nabeel and samuel on the other. It was then they all spotted two people following them, the two pursuers turned and ran in opposite directions and Nabeel was off along with the follower before Samuel could even follow, instead he helped the other two track down the man using his footprints, it was hard in a city but this was the exact training Samuel had been trained to do. They caught up to the man while he was getting some water to drink, it took the man a few seconds to realize before he spit out the water and began trying to run again, but this time Samuel caught up to him before he could and threw him back. while he was catching his balance Arakhan used a quarter staff like a club into the guys leg, through his sheer strength weight and the man's positioning being unhelpful the hit was brutal, as he fell unto his back unconscious. Samuel was sent to find a doctor and took far too long finding one, by the time he came back the man was already dead and Arakhan had gone back to the manor. Samuel felt a new shame as he returned to the manor, Nabeel having got back before Samuel greeted him loudly, Nabeel's shield covered in blood and teeth "And look who returns, were you doing a job for your master?" Samuel said nothing but unconviously clicked his tongue again. He wasn't about to question the shield and Nabeel looked surprisingly gleeful about it, Arakhan had come in moments later and asked Samuel in Jashu if he had found the doctor Samuel responded to Arakhan in latin though Nabeel understood that Samuel spoke Jashu from this and there was a small arguement and Arakhan asked Samuel to keep him in on a con if he wants to do something like that again, they were speaking in latin so it angered Nabeel who threw a small tantrum "Speak in Jashu!" Soon after that Arakhan had explained that while they chases assassins, assassins attacked his house and nearly killed his sister, Isara, Who had a flair for dramatic timing as she had entered right then and there. Arakhan had deviced a plan Samuel and Dunram would bring arakhan's body along with isara's to the meeting point, then they would simply kill the assassins. There was one more place mentioned but they could do both in one night.

The plan was set and they loaded a carriage up with Arakhan and isara laying in the back pretending to be dead, Dunram and Samuel sat infront with dead assassin's clothes on. Nabeel was at Arakhan's house saying it was much interest to him. They had met at the pre-determined place and Samuel did the talking since he spoke the native language, he had managed to convince a man who wore a different attire then the rest of the assassins that both bodies were in the back and they were just that skilled. When the man looked in the back of the wagon Arakhan used that to yell "Now!" the battle was over within seconds each person dead within one to two blows each, Samuel checked the bodies for more clues. He found what he was looking for another note, Dunram took the weapon the man would of used, A kukri, something was a bit odd about it, and just being around it made Samuel's ring tingle like if his finger was going numb.

They had gotten back to the manor, they had to arrive at the second place at dawn so they had enough time for a quick rest. Before bed a clanging, and by the sounds of it talking, was heard from Dunram's room we all rushed in to see what the problem was. Dunram sat there the dagger in his hand his room icy cold no one was in his room, Dunram and Arakhan had a long conversation Samuel didn't hear most of it, his ring was numbing his entire hand and it would stop. Soon after the conversation was over Samuel seemed to only worsen their moods by asking if he could see the Kukri, Arakhan decided then and there they would bury it and eventually destroy it and if anyone were to steal it through out the night he would kill them for it was evil. Samuel had pretty much figured Arakhan does exactly what he says and let the matter go. Since there were still assassins after them Samuel volunteered for the first watch, When he was done he found someone to watch the next shift and went to bed. Samuel woke up what felt like not an hour later it seems everyone was up and there was a dead body on the floor, Arakhan said somberly "he could not trust us, and would of likely killed us if he felt it would let him live even a second longer." Samuel didn't exactly agree but he also didn't say anything. He noticed isara was also awake and asked her if she would like an escort back to her room, he couldn't see it in the dark but she gave a small grin and accepted.

The second place they had to go to that night was the moonlight bridge Inn. This time everyone was going including Nabeel and Isara, because of Samuel's worries he gave Isara his armor, it wasn't much just a reinforced coat that was worn over most clothes, but it would help. They entered the first part no problem, there was only two guards in the front Nabeel and Arakhan were in the lead with Isara and Samuel in the back. Sometime in the middle at the bridge the disguises failed and Arakhan simply threw a guy off the bridge. the following battle was quite the display, when one man survived arakhans swing and was down on the ground the Medic, nabeel, took this as a chance to slam his shield down over and over on the mans injured leg, this act of violence was not something samuel would like to see. The action was quite hectic as well, Samuel kept pretending to be an assassin in case he could sneak up on the next assassins and take them out. That chance never came as a thunk and the wall had an assassin's head pinned to it followed by a scream, of a woman. Samuel being who he is rushed to the sound of the woman's scream and stabbed a man through the chest as another fell dead to another arrow. Samuel saw the archer, forgetting he was in disguise, it was a small girl wearing a Jackal mask. Samuel had heard of this person while he was walking to the inn earlier that week and his response before leaving as he had more important matters was "Turn yourself in Jackal, stealing is against the law." The Jackal has a quick tongue and responded with "and murder isn't?" Samuel didn't respond after that as he was already walking back, as it turns out arakhan had dealt with their leader and two bandits had given up. Arakhan and the bandits were speaking about starting an assassins organization together, Samuel figured it was good enough time for him to take off his disguise, and this took the remaining bandits off guard making them both swear allegiance to arakhan.

They began to explore tower, it was very well kept compared to the other half. They found a set of keys one of which worked on the locked door. The room was rather cold despite the heat of karjah, a breeze came in and sent a shiver down Samuel's spine. He spent some time looking around inside and discovered that the bureau was both out of place and covering something, he called arakhan for assistance in moving the thing and they discovered a long staircase leading down. Samuel stood over it ready to walk down when he felt a large hand, Arakhan's, give him a small push and he couldn't catch his balance as he tumbled down the stairs. Slowly getting up he checked himself, a sprained wrist and bruises everywhere, while he was in pitch blackness. He moved to the closest wall he could find and walked along it, he figured he was going in the wrong direction and went in the opposite direction until he was coming back to the stairwell. Nabeel had come down and was calling out to him. Forgetting his strength he pushed passed nabeel and tossed him a little ways. When he got back up he realized Nabeel was not behind him with a reluctant sigh he walked back down the stairs to find him.

This is where things went from bad to worse for Samuel, while looking for nabeel he found a second set of footprints that were smaller and thinner, specifically a woman's footprint, and it was shocked and surprised but how Samuel read them. He felt bad for it but Samuel prioritized the woman in potential need over Nabeel. Following the afraid footprints led him to the woman, her skin was porcelain white, her ears pointed, and overall was an unearthly beauty and alien. She was armed with a red crystalline sword, and with a wave of her hand Samuels torch went out. This was terrifying for Samuel who slowly backed up, trying to regain his composure only made it worse as he began to over think it. before long her was hurrying it back towards the exit and calling towards Nabeel. In the darkness towards the woman he heard a splash and nabeel had come from the other direction he hurried nabeel along up the stairs. He explained to arakhan when he got up with what he saw. Arakhan simply pushed the bureau back into place and then they left that room and the moonlight inn. As they were leaving The jackal had a message to deliver to Arakhan, it was signed by an N and a ring was given out an inquisition ring.

not sure if people are reading this but that is the end of the prologue
