If you take a specific Edge as part of your race, do you still have to take a Hindrance for Heavy-G Worlder. Or do you only have to take that extra Hindrance when you acquire it via the starting Hindrance.

I haven't read the Sci-Fi companion, but I know that in every other setting taking hindrances is optional. You can take one major hindrance (2 points) and two minor hindrances (1 point each) at character creation. For 2 points you can raise an attribute one die type or choose an edge. For 1 point you can gain one skill point or you can double your starting money.

Again, hindrances are optional but if you take them then you'll get more stuff to start with. Anything in your race is separate and already balanced.

Enjoy!

I do a bit of the math about Savage Worlds races on my blog, the Cranky Gamer. The Explorer's edition provides a good list, and lets you make good races really easily.
