Seriously. In ancient times they'd use pitchforks and throw harvested wheat into the wind. The grain would fall a distance away, and all the stocks and leaves (chaff) would fall farther away because it was lighter.

This is where we get the phrase, "separate the wheat from the chaff" or, the more common rendition, "separate the boys from the men". That way this magical pitchfork LITERALLY means it separates the boys from the men.

This 'ere don't need no name. It's just my pitchfork. Yeah, they say t'wer forged by them dwarves o'er by that mountain and it's sharper than damn near anything else round 'ere but that's no reason to go around callin' it Prongbane the Orc Gouger or one of them fancy names. It's my pitchfork.
