... if the paladins had decided not to listen to xykon and kept attacking? A few more attacks and all his stuff would have fizzled leaving him destroyed. It looked like they were getting a few good attacks in and with all his stuff fizzling, it may have been possible to defeat him? Thoughts? (This happens in FPS too, people lack focus on what counts and forget to go for the flag or grab a control point.)

Possibly, or some of the insane paladins behind them might have attacked them, or the sound of battle coming from behind them might have distracted them as it wasn't something they would expect.

He'd have started resorting to his paralyzing touch, I'd assume.

Flying to the window and bombarding safely away from the mellee majority as he just said he could have done? :x
I truly doubt anyone in that room was above lvl 8 or 9(except maybe O-chul, which just failed a Fortitude save, the best of a paladin...), Xykon was just too high to fail there o.o'

Meh. What if he was just giving out false hope and not actually casting Meteor Swarm... He already had the Insanity ball going on, so why bother wasting any higher-level spells. We can see him later throwing some 1st-3rd level spells, but that's about it.

As the spell effects of the symbol have been changed so that none of the insane attack the caster and the Xykon is some distance away, the O'Chul group would be ignored by them. Even if a few did attack the O'Chul group, they'd be ignored as O'Chul would order his allies to concentrate on the big threat, Xykon.

O'Chul would order his group to surround Xykon with the intent of a kill move of mass Lay on Hands. Xykon would see this and fly off. As there were few primary spellcasters still active, the chances of Xykon's Overland Flight being dispelled are slim. Being an organized and properly funded army, O'Chul would order the use of Fly potions.

Alas, this gives Xykon time to get some distance and chuck around his ranged spells. One of the unnamed paladins fails the save and dies. The two remaining charge and wound Xykon, leaving him at one-quarter HP. Xykon continues flying backwards and blasts the other unnamed, wounded paladin out of the air. O'Chul, being out of Smite Evils and thinking Xykon is near 'death', goes for the kill move and hits: Lay on Hands. Alas, O'Chul has underestimated Xykon's HP and it is not enough. Xykon responds by flying back again and blasting O'Chul, finally killing him.

Xykon drinks potions of Inflict Light Wounds that Redcloak insists he carries and finishes anybody who's still alive.

Well, considering Xykon can probably make the roll to cast defensively... not so much.

There's also always the possibility of a five-foot step back to avoid AoO's, which was probably possible for Xykon (depending on how close to the wall he was); just one spell would've been enough to weaken or kill most of the paladins. Remember Xykon can do a lot of area of effect spells he's immune to, because he's undead...
