Personally i prefer uzis (adaptable hand crossbows with some means of self-reloading and the lightning maces feat for the uninformed) for twf. Gives you an excuse to wear a black suit.

It's doubly fun when you realize how long your weapons are. Large Bastard swords are something like 8 ft. in length.

If you look insinuating and coy; Haman Karn will drop a colony on you.

No, see, he wasn't wondering how he'd be interpreted as an NPC. He was wondering how his post (namely "I'm kinda curious how I'll be interpreted") would be interpreted. You fell into his trap and interpreted his attempt to be interpreted as an attempt to be interpreted as an NPC.

eeeeeeeee

I'd have a few more feats available (I'd have a base of five, and the Undeath and Planning domains give me Extra Turning and Extend Spell for free; the three extra feats will be Power Attack, Corpse Crafter, and Extra Turning), and some of the numbers are slightly off, but otherwise this is perfect. Thanks :smallbiggrin::smallbiggrin:

Regarding spells prepared, you can pick pretty much whatever you want, but two of my slots each day will go towards Extended, DMM Persisted Divine Power (Cleric 4), Vigor (Cleric 3), Recitation (Cleric 4), and Negative Energy Aura (Cleric 4). They all last 48 hours, so I'd be casting two each day immediately after I prepare spells.

Oh, right, shouldn't you be statted up as a high level druid, what with all your druiding in the previous thread?

And I grant permission to make an npc in my likeness. Do it. It will amuse me.

This is our GitP-verse forms, actually, where (for example) I'm a Bone Knight, IZ is a Monk, and LP's a Paladin.

Pretty much everyone IRL is at most a second-level character with levels in the mundane NPC classes (commoner, expert, warrior, aristocrat) and the elite array, though. Anything past that and people start having too many hit points (a revolver round averages 9 damage, and how many of us would still be standing after two solid hits with a .45?). It's likely that a number of us (especially the younger folks like me) are still first level.

Isn't there a prestige class in the BoVD that is just that? Otherwise there are a couple of feats in Eberron books for Vermin focused druids... though Eldan always struck me as a more scholarly-wizard type.

I spent a long day at work thinking about how I should comment on this, so this is pretty wordy and i don't expect many people to read it.

k, don't this too personal now

First, some congratulations, you are going to be the first person to get me to tell you more than just a passing thought of IRL stuff on this forum and I believe the first person to get me to talk as long as i will seriously without getting distracted/silly/bored/whatever.

Second, I think i might like you... Maybe...

Third, quick statements (do not take too seriously, I can get quite cold in this area at times), I can appreciate a bit of satire as long as it is funny/fun, the only place i see this being funny is maybe a bit of roasting. If it is a caricature I'm not sure it entirely fits me since this is a rather small part of my life. I can appreciate this as trying to be realistic, but at the same time that ends up being a little insulting for reasons laid out in the spoiler. Though in the end it does fit into my thought process as I often imagine my brain as a bunch of caricatures representing various parts of my personality when I think introspectively.

Finally applicability
The intelligence and study comments are Probably deserved, well maybe not the int for strange reasons, I am in college and last time i checked had a pretty high IQ (though honestly the only reason i score so good on tests that test actual knowledge is by piecing together information from the all of the questions on the test with whatever i actually remember and it usually comes out to an A.) I suppose i do know a decent bit about optimization, though not as much as other people. Got a really good resource index though so i can find almost any 3.5 related thing within a half hour.

Personally I think my I am probably a lot less intelligent but make up for it with wisdom and raw logic (, I always did take to my philosophy classes really well. Probably not as smart as a lot of the people around me make me out to be. As for Cha, I have a strong often intimidating and free-spirited force of personallity, even though it can be a bit boring to people who don't meet me in person ( I really don't get why people react so differently when they can actually hear my voice with all the strange inflections, I also don't get why people think i am constantly judging them, I am not. Though i do often analyse situations to see if i want to ignore someone, try to for lack of a better word "teach" or just observe.) Probably about 11 str based on my current capabilities at the Gym (used to be much stronger.) Actually quite dexterous though my constitution is definitely abysmal.

(this humongous paragraph is just me stating how unrealistic these games are at portraying actual people.)
Now for some reason some words about the inequality of life. For all of these situations life has a habit of helping or hurting people's chances quite randomly. d20 is horrible at representing reality. Many people often don't try very hard to make anything of themselves and end up if below average in everything. Some people try very hard and end up with the equivalent of a lv20 capstone power in a one ore a few areas. Then there are some people who try to live a varied life and try many things mostly becoming good at whichever ones they feel inclined towards actually putting effort into (though some people are just practically born good at some things.) There are many different types of people. As for my situation, I try many things. I got to be pretty good at drawing according to many people and was switching places between best and secound best flute in a concert band "think miniature orchestra for people who don't know what i mean". Learned a lot about grappling in scholastic wrestling. Got decent at martial arts, but never had the drive neccasary to go through with the horrifying black belt test. I am a born natural sharpshooter with a rifle (2 times before they let me use the target with 10 different bulls-eyes they only gave me 10/10 bulls-eyes because if it wasn't then it meant i missed entirely which was unlikely; they were scoring the first one while i was shooting the secound one so it is understandable), but pretty average with a pistol. I am passable at archery though I can't claim to be good. Done a little metal working. Do my own car work. Made some pretty good things in a wood-shop such as the desk i use. Dabble in all kinds of sciences and random trivia in my spare time. Play way too many video games. Watch a lot of anime and youtube videos. And of course occasionally play d&d.

I honestly have no idea why I wrote this, but a thorough response was the only thing that felt right. I think my sense of the ironic meaning of irony was kicking in.

Comment on the build suggesting to raise some stats and to lower two stats

Well I re-balanced the stats based on what you said.
Also personally I like a lot the second character(the factotum/chameleon) which have been built for you.

Oh wow, I was not expecting this, or anyone to actually read that wall of text. You know the entire point of that one paragraph with my many hobbies was to point out how silly it is to try and be realistic in d&d. Though it does give you a chance to use all of those huge number of skill points. I really need to play a factotum sometime, probably not a very optimized one though. I could probably find some interesting interactions between its abilities for a bit of fun.

NeoPhoenix strikes me as a Chaotician at times.

For some reason looking at the Chaotician made me think of combining the duskblade and shadowcaster in a build. That was right after thinking that the prc would look good on a duskblade then shadowcasters are both int and cha based. Finally who needs the chaotician. I think that is the main problem i have with the prc it makes me think of other things to do besides it.

Unfortunately as the shadowcaster advances his casting, his low level spells become unable to be channeled. Though the channeling is a little bit tenuous in the first place.

Edit: I do love the Theory of the Strange Tropes though

To be fair, when I take the tests that are online, they tend to rate me at a 16 to 17, sometimes 18 for int. And then there's that one of 'what class are you' that everyone seems to have in their sig, and mine came out as Dungeon Master.

Many of those people would have regular or high Charisma. Charisma does not automatically equate to likeability or even social capability. You can have someone who does not understand other people at all and still have a forceful or overbearing personality.

There are also people in there who can't do 6th grade math or remember anything they've been told, despite playing such a game for <X> time and/or being in their 20s, indicative of low intelligence.

to be fair a number of people on this forum probably run an IQ in the ball park of the 110s and 120s. That would put their IQ in the 13-15 using normal distribution to estimate a comparison (with 3d6 rolls to get the bell curve for the int score). This kind of comparison doesn't account for people with super genius IQs like Stephen Hawking because they are so rare. Using this I would put my int at about ~17 give or take 1 because I need to have a more reliable IQ test taken before I can narrow mine down... To be honest I was not expecting that.

If you must know you would end up with a chart something kinda like this using normal distributions.

However, f we're using Int-to-IQ, this means that a person's Int Score fluctuates on a day to day basis, just as a normal person's IQ does.
Which would change the rules for D&D completely, so maybe it's best they don't hew too closely, after all.
As an aside, this chart would put me somewhere between 14 and 18, based on the time of day and what I've been doing lately...

Although I wonder how my friend's Player persuaded the GM to let him start with an Int ballparking closer to 22... Wish I could be that persuasive.

Actually, applying a little logic here works wonders; people change as they are exposed to new things, and the way they approach problems can change too. Depending on health, stress, and other 'environmental' factors, how clearly and quickly you can think things through changes fairly regularly as well.
I wouldn't expect someone's IQ to jump a dozen points from monday to friday, but standard testing might see a drift of a couple points depending on if you got 5 to 6 hours of sleep instead of 8, or if you're really distracted by debt, or if you're all stuffed up because of 'seasonal allergies' or so on.

This is also because IQ tests aren't absolute, and as much as we'd like to claim otherwise, there's a lot that goes on in the human mind that people just plain don't understand enough to generate an absolute accurate measurement of how intelligent someone is, such that we can perfectly pinpoint an exact number that permanently describes a person.

Some people are also much better test takers than others. And no IQ test that I'm aware of is administered in a perfect set of conditions. Every one that I was put through as a kid involved an adult administering the test during the IQ test, so there are additional potential anxiety factors there.

And even then, IQ isn't the end all be all for measuring intelligence (and it's not the best measure for success in life). So, while I find the 'IQ to Int score' interesting, I'm pretty sure that Int score for dnd is supposed to include more than just IQ.

That is fine and all but an IQ score is an estimate of your relative intelligence to other people in your age category. Not some level of brain function.

"Oh, man. What Edition are you using, to include stats that start below 3, Sag in place of Wis, Vig in place of Fort, and having permanent 0 HP? I haven't touched the older ones in a long time, after all. "
Fixed the confusions I did about the names
Real life allows you to start as a vegetable and npcs does not have all the player made restriction and you probably read "Re: [3.5/PF] GitP Regulars as NPCs" which means that you have far less restrictions than with players.
Also there is no problem having a 2 in any stat except for intelligence when you read the monstrous player rules and I do not remember non monstrous rules who forbid to start with 2 int(half orc + 4 initial int can do that if I remember well)
And for the planar shepherd of the far realms I never said it was the solution to everything for example for destroying huge things you need years of real life playing(so for example you want to destroy a city is is going to take tons of time compared to 10^15 better builds around there) and I never said it was the best build and also it is a 100% non spontaneous caster and with the way of playing I did you are going to need thousand of years of saying "I sleep" "I cast spell 1 then spell 2 then spell 3 then it is the end of my workday and I eat food and I sleep again"(the humans in real life sadly lives only one and a half century at most and also they get bored fast with something like this build) also if you are in a world where builds of an equivalent cheese level exists 1: you are going to be wrecked by an ice assassin who lives in the far realms itself and is permanently under the effect of time stop(and who in addition use greater celerity and initially can cast an unlimited number of quickened spells per round) and who rain destruction with portals and trans-dimensional spells.
The planar shepherd only interest is that it is fairly simple but even for that there is probably builds infinitely better in simplicity and power and number of words per action simultaneously(Like maybe chain wishes with properly formulated wishes making all the work to be done by the gm now you can go away and do other things until the gm said he did not wanted to manage an infinite chain of wishes).
So in fact the planar shepherd is a solution only if you want to beat regulars encounter(base manuals monsters played in an unoptimal way) and for having multiple weaknesses even against those encounter like "You encounter a dire tortoise and it charges at you" since not only your planar bubble might include opponents(if they get near enough) but you also need to win the initiative for casting your plannar bubble before the opponents acts so for example this build is not going to protect you from rogues.
I proposed it as a villain because one person wanted for TO gish builds to fight his players but it was mostly because it was a little TO but beatable.(and I still thinks there is many better builds in this niche)
Then I forgot where is the other threads where I posted this and also the reasons.
For having permanently 0 hp it is doable in 3.5 with the frail flaw
Description in 3.5
Frail
You are thin and weak of frame.
Effect
Subtract 1 from the number of hit points you gain at each level. This flaw can reduce the number of hit points you gain to 0 (but not below).
Special
You must have a Constitution of 4 or higher to take this flaw.
So with 4 con and this flaw I have -4 hp per level and it can be 0 allowing my commoner to have 0 hp at level 1(in addition he is never going to gain hp)(again I changed the constitution for being able to take this flaw)
Else for the far realms here is a description of what it can be from the manual of planes:
FAR REALM
Also called Outside, the Far Realm is a plane—or perhaps
a space beyond the planes
So yes it also means that the planar shepherd of the far realms not only need for the campaign to include the far realms but also for it to consider it as a plane so it is incredibly hard to find a campaign allowing this build because not only it must be cheese permissive but also to have an extremely precise sight of the far realms and to allow a planar shepherd of the far realms knowing it paralyses the game for then real life years but then in that campaign you get blasted by khepri.

to be fair a number of people on this forum probably run an IQ in the ball park of the 110s and 120s.

Int
IQ

3
57

4
66

5
72

6
78

7
83

8
88

9
93

10
98

11
102

12
107

13
112

14
117

15
122

16
128

17
134

18
143

Edit: also, add 1 to the int column for each time you get an age bonus... for reasons...

Uh.... then where would an IQ that places consistently between 180 and 160 go?

Eldan
2015-08-22, 05:58 PM
Well, if we assume that the IQ-bellcurve follows the 3d6 bellcurve in that way, all IQs of 143 and up are Int 18. Of course, there are Ints over 18, so that doesn't quite hold up.

TV tropes link to trap people, and I'm done. Excellent.
But seriously, what? I thought you all already statted your actual selves. You need other people to stat your fictional selves. If I don't have characters that are aware of their own status as fictional characters and have some knowledge of others from outside their own franchise , then I'll be stuck with spending the entire strip having them explain the rules of various universes to each other as though that somehow advances the plot or is funny in and of itself.

There are comics that are like that. I don't tend to pay much attention to them.

Treasure: The Legendary Regalia of the Immortal Emperor
Alignment: ???
Advancement: By character class
Level Adjustment: -

The Immortal Emperor wears his own legendary regalia. To summarise, alongside the effects given above, he gets a +20 bonus on epic skill checks, can create automatically-resetting traps without increasing their price, has total concealment, may choose for each spell, power, spell-like or psi-like ability whether or not to be affected by it if he normally would be, can see everything exactly as it really is, and can also see through any barrier short of 3 feet of lead, 12 yards of common metal, a mile of stone or an honestly obscene amount of paper or wood. The same is true of the wearer's senses of hearing and smell, and their touch and taste can't be fooled either. Further, anyone who would in any way perceive the wearer instead perceives something else of the wearer's choice. He can move anywhere he likes as a free action, can cast ice assassin, teleportation circle and gate at will, along with all 3rd-level or lower spells, and can only be affected by mind-affecting abilities with his consent. He can communicate anything to any creature as a free action, and may choose to force that creature to believe him, or to follow his orders so long as they sound at all reasonable in any way.

The Belt of the Immortal Emperor contains an infinite storage space, and also a copy of every non-unique mundane item ever to come to be. The same is true of every non-unique magic item with a market price below 10,000 GP. The items created from the Belt of the Immortal Emperor are tainted with Win and are unsuitable for sale, however. Those which were placed in the infinite storage space are not tainted with Win. Further, no item weighs anything while in the belt.

Items can be drawn from or returned to the belt as a free action.

Finally, anyone else who touches the Immortal Emperor's tummy is slain.

Divine Stuff
The Immortal Emperor is a divine rank 30 god, and has all salient divine abilities. Including all of the different automatic metamagics. Yup. He also has all feats, and is treated as having fully trained all skills, to the effect of getting +96 on intelligence-based skill checks, +90 on dexterity-based skill checks, +89 on constitution-based skill checks, and +87 on other skill checks (Of course, as an overdeity, he automatically rolls a 20 on all skill checks anyway).

Haven't you had the memo I sent to the American offices where we, the European branch (and I as the Head of European strategy and tactics) have found a workaround to the whole Geneva business. In two words: self defence and plausible deniability. You should be able to work out the rest...

It's Snowbluff's fault. Back in the good old days, I was able to smite an evil employee with no repercussions. But Snowbluff decided that everyday was "bring your chainsaw to work" day. We lost the entire billing department in one day...

This is what wands of glibness are for, and legendary treasure hoards. Between the two you can convince anyone that yes the person attacked you on the misguided belief that if they slew you they were legally entitled to your treasure and look at me I'm decaying and decrepit old bones, I can't be that hard to kill, well obviously they were foolish enough to think that way. And then you go on about the trauma and get paid leave due to the psychological stress of having someone try and murder you again, when you've already had to die once.

Well he does seem to have two functioning legs so I'd say he's not lame.

On complete tangents...

Having finished Zeta I am highly confused. Gundam shows Char getting crazier. Zeta Gundam shows him actually being relatively sane and reasonable for a character in a Gundam show. Char's Counterattack shows him back to crazier than ever before. Then Unicorn has his clone be less crazy than Char has been in anything but Zeta/the beginning of Gundam. I could see how Char getting crazier and crazier after Gundam became Char of Char's Counterattack, but in Zeta he feels like a completely different character than in either of those.

Also why does Char think space creates newtypes? Half the newtypes in Zeta are earthers (approximate, I am uncertain whether Haman was born on Earth or not, Kamille gets listed as the first newtype actually born in space but again it isn't specified), Char was born on Earth, Amuro was born on Earth, and Lalah the only fully awakened Newtype he knew before now fully awakened without leaving Earth? The evidence actually points to it having nothing to do with space? The further in the timeline it is the more this changes, but as most of the population is in space anyway if a new species was developing out of humanity and the demographic it was in isn't the extremely wealthy then it'd end up in space because of that. This in turn makes Unicorn make no sense.

Was Char born on Earth? I thought he was from side 3. Amuro is listed as being a Side 7 citizen, so I'm not sure if he was born an Grounder, either. I mean, some people say he was Canadian.

I don't think that space was a necessary component to newtypes. It's probably random stuff leftover from some philosophy involving Zeon Deikun that coincidentally was right to an extend, so people embraced it.

He goes to the town he was born in in one episode to meet his mom. I am not 100% sure about Char since sometimes I've seen him listed as being born on Earth and sometimes not... then Unicorn confused things further by talking about max exodus in 0 UC before Char's dad was born, but in the original show they talked about it more as a staged affair which was still going on.

And yeah it really is something traceable to Char's dad, but the fact that everyone spouts it with the evidence not supporting it and Char of all people knows this and still tries to drop an asteroid on the Earth to render it inhospitable... just makes me think Char is really crazy and his actions in Zeta where he is a voice of reason at time have me confused.

And my ice detector is just keeping the temperature in my lair at a cozy temperature. Though the warm gold does bend easily and sometimes it gets kind of liquid-y.

Zeon Zum Deikun was an Earth-Federation bigwig before arriving on Side Three and basically taking over the place-It's one of those things that puts the rivalry with the Space-born Zabis in quite a different light than what we're told.

So, yes, Char was probably born on Earth.

Char was never, ever sane. He is capable of putting up a front of sanity when he has someone to impress or has something to lose by not appearing so, and makes a thing of trying to acquire young, impressionable Newtype cohorts as a replacement goldfish for Lalah Sune. It didn't really take with Haman, but worked on Camille, so he keeps it together for Camille's sake. Or, more correctly, for the sake what he can get Camille to do for the cause of Char Aznable. Whatever that is.

Camille getting [redacted] and Haman revoking his Zeon privileges at almost the same time hit him hard, even though he'd created the situation in the first place.

Oh, no, don't sell yourself short. Accidental or otherwise, I think you've stumbled on something wonderful.

Nah, I just stole the recipe from Emperor Win.

And since I've already called ahead to the kitchens to make preparations, this seems like a rare opportunity, and a pity to waste.

I couldn't miss the opportunity to see you cook up your own Tippy/Win Assassin.
All you need is to make a representation of the being you are cloning out of dough and touch it's tummy. Make a Fortitude Save or it's gonna getcha, it's not a Death Effect or Energy damage, you just die and your body is destroyed. It functions like the original, but with bonus abilities based on Caster Level, what over Spells the Caster has access to and can be upgraded as a Magic Item. It has no compulsion either way, but the Caster must be able to defeat the Tippy Assassin's Ego score when commanding it, or the Tippy Assassin is completely useless. Telepathic control has an unlimited range.

Now come along, or I'll also have to dock your pay.

I've been the victim of unfair dismissal so many times, you would think the establishment had something against me. All the dozen law firms that the company hires? They'd find a way to legally sanction you if you tried, remember, they work for me.

Now try casting the Spell, unless you want to be buried under a mountain of paperwork.

I can file his resignation letter right now if you want.

Edit: also, special screenings for all employees in the immediate area.

Awww, it's not my fault that LP didn't respond to my application to be on staff...

Don't worry you still have to pay company taxes.

You should send a resume once a day to make sure it gets through the fires and the bureaucracy.

You know, I could use some help. Hey Fel, old chap, could you hire this guy on as Sub-Regional Manager?

Do not do it. An assistant is acceptable but flatter organizations are better so middle men are completely unacceptable. Besides, you don't want someone ready and waiting to replace you.

The beautiful thing is that the only one to replace IZ would be IZ, with another IZ after that, ad infinitum.

We could easily switch the IZs over to another job if we like the new guy.
