Im trying to help another player in our group pick a dinosaur for the animal companion but I'm confused by the wording.

If the goliath druid selects an animal companion, she must select a dinosaur or megafauna. If she has a dinosaur or megafauna animal companion, she can target it with enlarge person even though the companion isn't of the humanoid type.

Does this mean they can just pick ANY dinosaur they want and begin play with it? Isn't there some sort of list to go off of?

Pathfinder has a Big 'Ol List (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/animal-companions) of animal companions, and druids who take an animal companion can take any of them as their companion.

Goliath druids can select from that list those which are dinosaurs or megafauna. What counts as that is....intuitively, rather than strictly defined. Mostly, the stats in there refer back to entrances in bestiaries, but some of them are back to Adventure Paths or the player companion line of books.

Alternatively, the Bestiaries tend to list, "Dinosaur, [Something]" or "Megafauna, [Something]", so you can also bestiary dive for animal companion stat blocks.
