So I need a creature that digs through the earth/stone but leaves a tunnel behind it...everything I have looked up so far has a "glide" like ability.

And I need it the bigger the better...help! :(

Dire badger for digging tunnels in earth.

Thoqqa for stone (though it melts its way through, so tunnels are hot for a while afterwards).

Both tunnels would be a tight squeeze, though.

Edit: casting animal growth before tunneling would help with the size of the tunnel. Only works on the dire badger, though.

Further edit:
Dire badger's tunnel is 5ft diameter:

These vicious creatures tolerate no intrusions. They cannot burrow into solid rock, but can move through just about any material softer than that. A dire badger usually leaves behind a usable tunnel 5 feet in diameter when burrowing unless the material it’s moving through is very loose.

The Purple Worm (D20 (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/purpleWorm.htm)/PF (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/magical-beasts/purple-worm)) leaves tunnels.

If you want old school, there's a online article on the Wizards site for the Aurumvorax. Like a giant golden badger with 8 legs, and a personality like a honey badger.
