How many people can cooperative craft an item at once?

Hey there, folks! I've seen this question asked but I haven't seen an answer to it yet. How many people can use the feat Cooperative Crafting (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/cooperative-crafting) at once on a single item? Could two assistants work to quarter the time it takes to make a magical item?

Both this feat and the cooperative crafting (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items#TOC-Cooperative-Crafting) rules that use it only make reference to "another character" and "the other character." As written there can be only one assistant per item being created, unless I'm missing something.
