View Full Version : The Sticks Awards 206-210

Hi, and welcome to The Sticks Awards!
Note: the voting format has changed (again  ). Read on for more details.
The Sticks Awards are given to the best strips of all times, chosen by the polls here in the Playground.
Ok, we have had a lot of problems to carry the Awards on. First, only 5 options per poll and 25 chars per poll option. Which obligated us to have 2 simulteneous open polls for each ten comics. And just when I decided to change the voting format to suit these limitations, we get no polls at all. So, the new voting format will still be 5-comics per poll, then 4 polls with the 20 winners and then a big final one with the 4 big winners. This is in case the polls come back from the afterlife someday. But as of right now, post your votes on the thread. Only one vote per user, of course.
And let's vote, people. The last poll was a failure when it comes to number of votes. Guess a lot of users don't like to say whom they're voting for.
The poll will close on May 13, 21:45 GMT.

209. "What is this 'Japan' of which you speak?" will always be a classic line.

209, I say!
It has amusing dialogue.
Twilight Jack
2007-05-10, 05:08 PM
206! Elan's on an adventure! Also, Belkar's explanation of his reasons for coming along is priceless.
Estelindis
2007-05-10, 05:25 PM
206, for the final frame (although it's a tough choice between this and the final frame of 207, which has been referenced in my own D&D game so often that I sometimes forget it's from OotS!).
Porthos
2007-05-10, 05:28 PM
Mean Ol Cranky Pants, FTW!! :smallcool:
In otherwords, #209. :smallwink:
207 Now If Only We Could Organize the Fiends Somehow "Dragons color-coded for YOUR convenience"
And for Nazzo, wits is hard to translate but would be something like "habilidade de ser esperto de uma pessoa ou esperteza":smallwink:

And now it's tied.
Note: If Warmachine wishes I'll change his vote.
Still tied
Even still, it is tied... looks like the others are catching up.
Gasp! 209 Took the Lead!
Dun dun dun, 206 steals the lead.

I vote 210. It's just awesome. As well, sorry to hear about the poll restrictions. I hope we can find a better way around it. I suggest 10 comics at once, with a best of the hundred poll, just like it used to be. Except we won't have polls; we will vote via post.
206. I've always loved that last panel. I've secretly wanted to have one of my characters say it, but I never had the opportunity...

2007-05-10, 06:28 PM
Who is counting it now, anyway?
Setra kept a tally for the last one, and is doing so for this one too. But in the end I will always re-check the voting to ensure the results and post 'em in the thread.
And for Nazzo, wits is hard to translate but would be something like "habilidade de ser esperto de uma pessoa ou esperteza":smallwink:
Yeah, I know that. It was a pun. A very intended pun.

I mostly just keep a tally, so that people can see who is winning.
That and it's fun.

This one is a really tough crop, those were all really good comics, but Elan's adventure seals it for me.
By the way, I appreciate your perseverance in keeping the Stick Awards going throughout all these format changes. Thanks!

I make that :
206 : 13 (12 if warmachine posted wrongly)
207: 11 (12 if warmachine posted wrongly)
208: 8
209: 12
210 : 8
Looking at that, I really hope warmachine meant 206, or else we have a three-way tie...

I considered warmachine's vote to be 207, because of the quote. I assume that everyone quotes his favorite strip.
Izodor, Liche, TigerHunter and Aidan305 had voted outside the time window for this poll. Sorry guys.
Well, it seems that we'll make a run off. Or not.
