~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I seem to be in a bit of a funk, I've sketched up a couple characters but nothing I'm terribly excited by and nothing I can get anywhere near finished.
So here is where I throw it out to you.
Is there something you want to see drawn? A character of yours perhaps? A character of someone elses? Whatever :) Just so long as it's an individual character I may draw it.
So post a description of a character(using the below format in a Quote tag like below) and if I like yours the best I just may draw them... FOR FREE!!
Yup, this is a chance to get a free, finished, color character portrait by yours truely :) You know you want it :D
The more detailed the better, and remember the better you spark my imagination the more likely I am to pick your character :D BUT, keep it concise and If you are including character background please keep it short and put it inside a set of Spoiler tags
Any available reference material (i.e. pictures) is appreciated but not to be used as a substitute for a written description.
So get cracking.
I've an idea!
Do you suppose you could draw the man in this (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/54818207/) picture with the wings and ashen halo? I'd like to see how you would depict him and how he'd look in your style.
Edit: That is, if you feel like doing something that already sort of exists... I'm thinking he'll have a grey and blue theme for all cloth in his armor and just somewhat darker silver armor. Grey wings, brown hair and blue eyes.
Character: Madison Zita Redmark III (Madison is fine)
Genre: Fantasy (ask Vorpal_Tribble for setting details)
Class/Occupation: Wu Jen, which is basically a wizard. Fire-specialized. Very fire-specialized.
Race: Human with fire elemental blood (more details further down)
Gender: Female
Height: 4'6" (short, yes, intentionally)
Weight: 90 lbs (though according to a BMI calculator, that's immensely overweight, and Madison is supposed to be skinny)
Build: See above (skinny and short).
Hair Color/Style: Dark blonde hair, waist length, fairly messy and free
Skin Color: Ashen grey, on the light side (maybe like the 30% grey? I dunno)
Distinguishing Features: Other than said things, Madison's irises flicker with an inner flame. Also, any makeup she might be wearing is pure white, and usually only consists of eyeshadow and lipstick. Of course, makeup isn't exactly practical for an adventurer.
Clothing/Armor: A robe composed of white, yellow, orange, and red elements, predominantly of white. The robes should be conservative, as the climate is an ice-age/tundra place, though not winter clothes, since she's a part fire elemental. Also a red sash.
Weapons: A light crossbow and a wand of burning hands (spellcaster, so frequently unarmed)
Misc. Equipment: Scroll cases and a backpack
Personality: The full description is rather long, and I imagine much of it would be of little use to you. Therefore, I'll put a summary up. Madison is a very adventurous type, usually seeking new ways to have fun in life. She regards anything non-routine with a good deal of enthusiasm, unless it happens to violate her fairly loose morals (no killing, torturing, stuff that most humans consider obvious. She's Chaotic Neutral). Also, Madison is quite outgoing, and attempts to be friends with everyone at first.
__________________________________
I hope that's interesting enough for you. She used to have a quarterstaff, but it was given away. If you think the pose would be better with the staff, go ahead. Otherwise, it's quite fine to leave it out. Same with the backpack. Or any of the equipment besides the clothes.
If anyone beats me on uniqueness without being totally absurd, I'll want to see it.
My first character:
Character: Pota Andropolous
Genre: Urban fantasy
Race: Nocker (http://dreamers.com/bibliofeerica/galeria/toniditerlizzi/Nocker.jpg)
Gender: Female
Height: 5'8"
Age: 56
Weight: 140 lbs
Build: in pretty good shape, thin, but solid
Hair Color/Style: Grey/white hair- short-ish, maybe to the bottom of her face. Looks like someone hacked it off with a pair of dull scissors.
Skin Color: very pale, almost white
Distinguishing Features: large nose, pointed ears, red swirls painted on her face, thick eyebrows
Clothing/Armor: She's a grease monkey, and dresses like it- coveralls stained with god knows what, heavy leather gloves, etc. She usually has a toolbelt on. She could look sort of steam punk.
Weapons: Ray guns (like these (http://www.wetanz.com/holics/index.php?catid=4)- *drool*). Or a pistol crossbow. Or a really big gun. Or razor claws strapped to her fists.
Misc. Equipment: miscellaneous weird looking tools
Personality: Pota is a bitter, crotchety old woman who builds really big, really dangerous vehicles for a living. She's got a sarcastic sense of humor, and she's kind of paranoid.
I doubt I'm going to win this thing, but I'm going to try, I love your style and hey, near-nil chance is still better than no chance :smallwink: . So I'm going to nominate my current character, the sociopathic Druid/Swordsage Nayaire.
Character: Nayaire
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Ocupation: Druid/Swordsage
Race: Human
Age/Apparent age: Looks somewhere around the 28-30 years old, give or take
Gender: Male
Height: Around 1'75 m (sorry, no idea as to how to convert that to feet. EDIT: after speaking to a Brit friend, it seems it would be somewhere a bit below the 5,8-6 feet range)
Weight: Shifts slightly due to transformations, but around 80 kg.
Build: Nimble and pretty strong, but not too obviously muscular.
Hair Color/Style: Pitch black, shoulder length. He combs it only the bare minimum to keep it from being uncomfortable, so no real style, and a bit messy as well.
Skin Color: White, tanned from life outdoors.
Distinguishing Features: The most obvious is that he almost always sports a big pair of greenish-brown dactyl-like wings, due to his transformative abilities. Also, has two green, curved lines tattooed vertically under the eyes.
Clothing/Armor: Wears scale armor made from dinosaur scales, and his old green camouflage cloak (which is starting to be a bit uncomfortable with the new wings, but he refuses to let it go). Under the armor he wears simple, plain brown cloth, mostly to prevent the armor chaffing and such.
Weapons: Nayaire fights with a rather acrobatic style, inherited from his swordsage levels. As a weapon, he uses a permanently shillelaged wood staff, with most of it's surface covered in thorns, and with twisting poison brambles at both ends. These brambles are alive, and try to entangle and pierce with every hit.
Misc. Equipment: Doesn't like to move stuff around, so his only piece othr equipment is a Handy Haversack, the sash of which he wears across his chest.
Personality: Short version: a sadistic SOB whom Belkar would find admirable.
Long version: Nayaire is a clever and merciless hunter, whose greatest pleasure is in the thrill of a fight and the smell of blood, and whose philosophy could be summarized in "might makes right". Has no concern for such weaklings as civilized people, and will slaughter them by the dozen if he has the need (or the chance, really), but has absolutely no qualms on taking advantage of their resources (they're parasitic to Gaea, so it's only fair, and they're all going to be dead in a few generations anyway). He's twistedly intelligent, enjoys playing with his enemies and their hopes, and is supremely confident of his own melee fighting abilities. His only redeeming qualities would be his tendency to keep his word and his abolutely loyalty to his pack.
Pose: As you prefer. I only ask that he has a predatory, "you-are-oh-so-screwed" evil grin. It's a part of who he is: he's a sadistic smartass, he has to be smiling evily :smalltongue: .
Also, in case you wish to add it, he has a rather terrifying deinonychus as his animal companion and mount. This dinosaur, named Kit, is probably the only being Nayaire actually cares for, and he considers it his friend.
------------------------------------------------
Hope you like it. I'm pretty proud of this character and his exploits, so I'd love to see him rendered by such an amazing artist. *proceeds to hope against hope he is picked*
Character: Eve
Genre: fantasy
Race: sluagh (http://dreamers.com/bibliofeerica/galeria/markjackson/Sluagh.jpg)
Gender: Female
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 100 lbs
Build: Very slim, almost unnaturally so
Hair Color/Style: Long, straight black hair, worn loose or pulled partially back.
Skin Color: pale, with a greyish or greenish tinge to it in places- slightly corpse-like.
Distinguishing Features: Pretty, but a little unsettling. Her eyes should be dark, and a little sunken into her head.
Clothing/Armor: She wears victorian-ish clothes- skirts, boleros. Much of it looks like it used to be very fine, but now has seen better days- it looks worn, with frayed edges and the odd unpatched hole. One can see dust and cobwebs on her as well.
Weapons: poisoned stilletos, blowguns
Misc. Equipment: spiders
Personality: Quiet, but with cold bloodlust underneath
I love your artwork. Roy looks great! Do you have any of anyone else in the OOTS cast?
Here's the character that I'm currently playing. I'd love to see it in your art style.
Character: Cade Thorngage
Genre: Fantasy
Race: Halfling
Class: Rogue/swashbuckler (soon to be shadowdancer)
Gender: Male
Height: 3'1"
Weight: 34 lb
Build: Wiry
Hair Color/Style: black/spiky
Skin Color: light tan
Eye color: Black
Age: 26
Clothing/Armor: Cade is a former member of a street gang so his clothes are rather poor, but in good shape and have several pouches and pockets. He wears studded leather armor on top of that. He also has a cloak that appears to made of dark shadowy scales with two small glowing arcane symbols on the front.
Weapons: keen shocking rapier and a masterwork dagger
Misc. Equipment: lockpicks and a handy haversack. He also has a riding dog.
Personality: Cade is a good person at heart (Neutral Good). He never wanted to be in the street gang in the first place, but knew he wouldn't survive unless he was in one. Cade values his freedom only slightly less than his life. He loves hiding in the shadows and revels in not being seen. One of the joys in his life is opening any lock he comes across, even if there is nothing of material value on the other side. He's basically a kid at heart who was dragged kicking and screaming into maturity when he was 'recruited' by the gang.
Pose: This, I leave entirely up to you.
If this will be any help in making your decision, here's Cade's backstory and journal
I've got a character I really have come to like that I would love to have a picture of. She is simple though, but I won't know if I don't enter!
Character: Nicole
Genre: Fantasy
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 155
Build: Slender/flexible/still has a slight muscle build
Hair Color/Style: Blonde and short. No part long enough to reach her eyes.
Skin Color: Medium dark tan
Distinguishing Features: Poverty does not mean dirty. Nicole keeps clean.
Clothing/Armor: She is a Vow of Poverty monk, so her only clothing is a simple cloth tied over her chest, and a simple trouser or other monkish looking pant. They are both plain and brown.
Weapons: She does have a pair of old, worn Kama. They are a family heritage item that is very important to her, but they look unremarkable
Misc. Equipment: none
Personality: She is the valiant, put others before yourself fighter. She runs in to a fight to distract the foes. She moves around the battle in a blaze of speed. She favors a trip attack when she can. Outside of that she loves the outdoors and nature. She is introverted a bit, but still stands out when there is injustice to correct.
"Brina is a tall, stately woman of exceeding beauty. She at first appears as a young girl despite her height, her movements as free and unabashed as a child's, and lithe as a wild cat. Silvery-white hair hangs down past her feet, but a gentle breeze seems to always be teasing the tresses, keeping them from actually touching the ground.
As one nears however they see the first signs of extreme old age, though only in the miniscule crow's feet at the corners of her large, vibrant grey eyes. Otherwise she seems without blemish or mark, a veil woven of moth-down and evening mists covering all the rest of her face.
The wears a loose robe that hangs down about halway to her knees, appearing to be made of the same breezy material as her veil. All dark greys and greens with unexpected patches of lighter earthen colors that blends in well with her surroundings.
A leg sheath is strapped about her leg, padded thickly for comfort and holding a strangely-shaped sickle whoes curving blade possesses a blue-white sheen. A silken pack of some kind hangs from her back, moss speckling its surface."
Character: Brina
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Occupation: Ranger w. the Dark Waltzing PrC (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2290716&postcount=3)
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 125 lbs.
Build: Athletic/Slender
Hair Color/Style: Silvery white hanging down to the ground, though lifting up and blowing about without actully touching it.
Skin Color: Light tan
Weapons: Sickle and composite longbow.
Personality: Brina is truth that one can be child-like without being childish. She is all bittersweet joy and mischievious euphoria. She considers all she meets a friend, though tempers this perfectly with a cheerful paranoia.
Many at first mistake her passion for lasciviousness, as she is want to tease and flirt shamelessly, lavishing affection. All this though is wholey innocent however and as likely to be directed at an animal or child as anyone. Those that meet her are hard pressed not to fall in love with her at least a little.
Pose: I would like Brina to be holding a baby to her, wrapped in a blanket, perhaps as if feeding it. Ideally, if possible, I'd like for her to be sitting on a branch doing it, perhaps using her bare feet to wield the bow at ready that she uses.
You seem to get annoyed with me a lot. Or at least seem to be the only one who redundantly expresses it. But why this time, when it is so baseless? I can understand getting uppity about somebody actually disliking a part of a piece of art you made, but pointing out that you missed something that was so totally there and not just added in? That's no cause for annoyance.
Sure, I'll try:
Character: Michalson
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Occupation: Demonhunter
Race: Theoretically human
Age: Around 30 years.
Gender: Male
Height: 6' 2''
Weight: 150 ibs
Build: Slim
Hair Color/Style: You can't see his hair anyway, they're covered by hood.
Skin Color: Extremely pale
Distinguishing Features: Glowing red eyes, scars on face. Face is covered by hood and veil on face, you can only barely see the upper part of his face- especially his eyes.
Clothing/Armor: He's wearing grey tunic with short sleeves and hood, ending above his knees. Under the tunic he's wearing chain shirt, under the chain shirt- something black. He's got dark-brown leather gauntlets, boots in the same colour, and black trousers.
Weapons: He's holding long, narrow, mundane two-handed sword in his hand, he's got a crossbow on his back.
Misc. Equipment: Some sacks on his belt, and backpack.
Personality: Michalson is a Demonhunter- member of the elite order of warriors who drink the blood of demons to become stronger and are specifically trained in hunting demons. They aren't noble, paladinish warriors they're meant to be, they're ruthless, emotionless killers- blood of demons kill their higher emotions. Therefore, Michalson is calm, rational, and never acts on emotions.
BTW, does every character have to be described, or can I just give the reference picture?
Character: Nathan Keltrie
Genre: Full Metal Fantasy (Iron Kingdoms, to be pedantic)
Race: Human of Caspian stock
Gender: Male
Height: About 170 cm tall.
Weight: Approximately eighty kilograms.
Build: Quite slim and athletic, but has neither eaten nor slept truly well in a while.
Hair Color/Style: Short, blonde hair cropped in typical Cygnaran fashion.
Skin Color: Light, but well tanned.
Distinguishing Features: Irregural groups of tiny scars near the slightly torn left earlobe: small mementoes of an encounter of the violent kind with Sulese rockets. A small symbol of Morrow hangs on a chain from his neck.
Clothing/Armor: Nathan wears a reinforced brown greatcoat over a Cygnaran military uniform whose insignia are those of a lieutenant and an adept. The coat has seen better days; apart from the dust and dirt of frequent travel, it apparently has had to endure anything and everything from sharp implements and gunshots to explosions and shrapnel. The uniform is a bit better off, although it too has been neglected for some time now; his boots are dirty, the jacket is wrinkled and the knees of his trousers are wearing down. Being a wizard, Nathan wears no real armor. On his hands he has fingerless leather gloves, fitted with small mechanikal components and wiring running up his wrists and into his sleeves.
Weapons: A straight sabre, devoid of any ornamentation and clearly mechanikal hangs from a baldrick on Nathan's shoulder, and he carries standard-issue pistol on his right hip.
Misc. Equipment: Nathan's belts are festooned with small pouches for ammunition, spell components and assorted sundries. His primary spellbook is a small, almost-pocketsized book with bookmarks and notes nearly spilling out. He wears round spectacles over his green eyes, and a short, slim cigar is often tucked behind his ear.
Personality: Deepest down, Nathan is a very compassionate, kind man. He likes helping people, and is very protective of people he considers his neighbours - his unit, for example. This protective drive, coupled with a sharp tactical mind has saved quite a few lives during his military career. However, it also makes every loss that much more bitter, and as a consequence Nathan has a cynical streak that runs deep and widens almost every day. He keeps it in check with his inherent optimism, but the cynic in him has a habit of manifesting as coldness and occasionally even malice when he is upset. He hates and fears losing control of himself, and as a result the "calm" before and after a battle when he finds himself unable to focus on anything. He likes cats.
Blahblahblah. Went too far down the "Angsty McAngstangst" road of cheap personalization. Oh well, I'll rewrite it tomorrow if I feel like it.
Note to self: Cheer up, dude.
Character: Arinol Liathar
Genre: DnD
Class/Occupation: Ranger/Rogue/Fighter (Mostly Ranger Though.)
Race: Elf
Age/Apperent Age: 147 (looks 25)
Gender: Male
Height: 5' 7
Weight: 130
Build: Lean, slightly muscular
Hair Color/Style: Brown, shoulder length, the bangs are shorter, ending at the chin, his bangs have a parted near the middle of his forehead.
Skin Color: Slightly tanned
Distinguishing Features: Green eye, left eye covered by an eyepatch, with parts of a burn scar sneaking out of the edges, his left ear is partially burned off to the point that most of the pointed part is gone
Clothing/Armor: A dark green, hooded cloak, though the hood is usually down. He wears a studded leather vest over a green shirt with rolled up sleeves. He wears leather bracers and fingerless black gloves. A dark brown belt holds up his black trousers which in turn are stuffed into brown boots
He is a very serious person that takes his adventures seriously and is not known for smiling. Though he exudes an image of stoicness there have been some that say that they see a hint of regret in his one good eye. Deep down he is a compassionate person though with a deep self-loathing, his left eye wasn't actually lost to a burn. Arinol had actually stabbed it out because he failed to save the brother of his would be mate and he felt that a simple burn scar was not enough for him to suffer through. He has since left his old life behind, feeling that such a life is not worthy of a failure like him. He almost commited suicide twice, but managed to convince himself otherwise both times by saying only a coward would end his life. He has dedicated himself to 'attoning' for his failure for over thirty years.
If you need a refrence look at my avatar. I hope this is enough.:smallbiggrin:
2007-05-11, 05:09 PM
Character: Gideon Gideonson
Genre: Fantasy (Slightly Steam-punk, yet high magic nonetheless)
Class/Occupation: Artificer and traveling Tinker
Race: Human
Age/Apparent Age: 27
Gender: Male
Height: 5’4’’
Weight: 101lbs
Build: Short and well-built, but not stocky
Hair Color/Style: Brown, fairly unkempt and fairly short…he doesn’t really care what it looks like, so it changes from day to day.
Skin Color: Slightly tan, not to much
Distinguishing Features: Sharp features, and what would be a full (yet VERY short) beard, except for the very center, where two lines have been shaved on either side of a slightly longer, square-cut portion. One hand and fore-arm has been blasted off, replaced by a clockwork limb instead (gears and cogs and metal, forming the forearm and five digits)
Clothing/Armor: Leather trenchcoat style garment with mid-length sleeves, which falls to a little below his knees, covered in numerous pockets and hooks for items. Below that he wears a white shirt, crossed with bandoliers and straps for potions, wands, etc, and leather pants, again covered in pockets. He has short yet sturdy boots and wear a leather open-backed half-glove on his good hand. He also has (but may not be wearing) a fairly wide-brimmed hat.
Weapons: A crossbow with an almost gatling-gun-esque wand-holding device slung below the main crossbow.
Misc. Equipment: Pretty much anything and everything: Ioun Stones floating about him, wands, scrolls, lenses, little clockwork devices, vials of acid, matches…basically anything and everything that could come in useful, strapped to his body, hung in Bandoliers, stuffed haphazardly into pockets…go wild. The more the better :smallbiggrin:
Personality: Gideon’s fairly shy at times, and prone to reflection when there’s nothing to do. Normally he’s a dynamo, as he’s got a severe caffeine addiction, and is a little eccentric and obsessive to begin with. As a result, he’s got energy to spare when he’s up and working, tinkering, or fighting, but he will crash and be down for hours. Some call it a mania, but he doesn’t really care. He angers easily when excited, and can get quite violent at times, so it’s best not to disturb him when he’s working on a project. He’s also sarcastic and cynical almost all the time, and talking to him can be a pain, as he’s intelligent and always ready to prove it.
I'll give this a shot...
Character: Aesa
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Occupation: Vala (Sorceress)
Race: Valkyrie
Age/Apperent Age: Ageless? If you could make it hard to determine,
but younger in appearance (maybe late 20's or 30's) that'd be about right.
Gender: Female
Height: 6ft
Weight: It is actually pretty heavy due to wings, but I'd have to guess
without them she'd be about 180 or so.
Build: Slim but muscular.
Hair Color/Style: Black- long, about to mid/lower back. It is slightly gathered into a ponytail.
Skin Color: Tanned-white.
Distinguishing Features: Yellow, hawk-like eyes.
Clothing/Armor: Long red to dark red form-fitting robes with a white lightning design from about hip down. She wears a soft white belt of some cottony material, a mantle with similar lightning patterns along the sides (and matching the red of her robes). She has been known to wear more casual clothing, however (which I also have some examples of)
Note: There are a number of significant items she possesses which may or may not be included, according to your preference. (I definitely don't want ALL of them to be shown though, it'd be way too much. What she is shown with just really depends on the style in which you depict her)
Weapons: -A whip (none of those sissy whips, this is one of the nasty ones with jagged bits of metal/bone/etc. to flay off your skin with) that has the magical power to drive people insane.
-Oddly enough, Aesa has an intelligent axe known as "Zchiz." Its a rusted, blood encrusted, notched, single headed battle axe that has a stylized eye on the side that likes to stare at people. It also has the random ability to fling lightning around.
-She also has gauntlets made out of polished black stone that have fairly sharp and pointed tips. She tends to wear these with more casual outfits and not with her robes.
Misc. Equipment: -Aesa's favored possession is her magical rod which should be around the length of her forearm. It is made of a red colored wood and is topped with a black onyx- other details may be added.
-She wears a small silver bracelet that is a simple chain with a small sapphire dangling from the end.
-Lastly, three spheres or varying crystal that should (individually) fit in one hand. One is a ruby, another is made of a yellowish crystal, while the last is a sapphire, respectively representing hell, heaven, and those in between. Each one can function as a crystal balls for scrying. She likes having them float around and follow her so she can use them whenever she wants.
Personality: Aesa is out in the world for her own amusement. Her favored expression is a smirk and a raised eyebrow. She'll steal your money, slip you poison, and watch while you stagger around getting sick just because she'll find your weakness entertaining.
Not a very nice person.
A second brief but apt description of her personality (which should be quite obvious in her face and poise) is that she is arrogant, confident, and sees that the world is for her use as a toy and amusement. She has the power to back such a view up, as well. She prefers to smirk and give condescending looks, 'knowing' that she is better than anyone else.
Here is a modified description I had written out a while ago-
Aesa is close in appearance to one of the norse Valkyries (so some of the common norse features- above average height, paler skin, etc). She has straight black hair either cut to medium length or down to the middle of her back.
Her eyes are yellow and somewhat akin to those of a hawk- piercing and watchful.
I think of her face as an oval shape, with expressive features and either an amused or serious and foreboding expression.
She has long and slender fingers- dextrous enough to use in her magical arts (see below) and with twirling her favorite magic rod (also see below). Due to her norse heritage, she should also have longer legs.
More notable feature are her wings, which are large enough to actually hold her weight. Unlike an angelic figure, they are actually black tinged with red. The feathers themselves should be black, while the limb of the wing is a dark red (an example will be given in a link)
While Aesa is like a valkyrie in appearance, she lacks the martial sense that is about them (so she has the form- its just gone unused). She does, however, like to... personally punish those who displease her, and she is capable of using weaponry. She just uses it less than a valkyrie.
She is in fact a sorceress who manipulates magic through the use of runes which she scribes in the air with glowing white energy (as she is norse, such runes should look like old norse/futhark). Some of these runes may be included in the picture (or, as I will leave her final pose up to you, she may be scribing them). It should be noted that her favored magics include those that deal with divination and lightning.
As for pose-
Should you want a guideline or just not have any inspiration, I'll suggest the following combination of pose/equipment.
Aesa, facing the viewer but turned so that her left side is more prominent and forwards. Her left hand and arm should be tracing one of a number of glowing runes, while her right hand/arm is back behind her, holding her favored rod ready. There is wind going from the right side of the picture to the left side. She is wearing robes and have longer black hair. Her bracelet would be on the rune scribing hand, while her three crystal spheres would be on her right (and the viewer's left) floating in triangular pattern, ready for use. Her expression would be smirking, certain, and confident with slightly narrowed eyes. Her wings would be slightly stretched out.
Examples-
If you'd like, I can structure that last whole description a lot more for your convenience, but I think it flows well as it is.
Build: Slim but fairly muscular
Hair Color/Style: flowing brown wavy hair with green visible through it.
Oooh! I've got one! My LARP character, Hope :smallsmile:
Character: Hope
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Occupation: cleric/healer
Race: human
Age/Apparent Age: Just turned nineteen
Gender: Female
Height: Probably about 5'7" or so.
Weight: 120lbs ish?
Build: A bit on the delicate side, but not frail. She was peasant stock, used to chasing after younger children and helping with chores.
Hair Color/Style: Long, straight dark hair; the sides are pulled back into a braid and tied off with a white ribbon, while the back falls loose.
Skin Color: Caucasian
Distinguishing Features: None, really.
Clothing/Armor: Lavender skirt, white chemise, black bodice (worn modestly), sensible black boots, and a black wool cloak for when it's cold. A brown belt with a small pouch.
Weapons: None; Hope is a pacifist
Misc. Equipment: Her holy symbol, worn on a black cord, is a white disc painted in silver: an octagon inscribed within a circle. The lines of the octagon curve inward, in an effect reminiscent of a spiderweb (but with no connecting lines through the center). Usually she wears it tucked beneath the neck of her chemise, but for the picture she can wear it openly.
Personality: Hope is a genuinely sweet, kind, and caring young woman who truly believes that it is her purpose in live to help others and relieve suffering. She is very devout in the worship of her goddess... a goddess who has something of a problematic reputation among the general populace. The goddess Kahla-Ran is widely held to be the Goddess of Murder and Quick Death, and her "mainstream" worshippers practice human sacrifice. Hope belongs to a small sect with a dramatically different interpretation. To her, Kahla-Ran is the Lady of Mercy, who hates suffering and desires self-sacrifice from her followers, not murder. Most people don't understand this, however, and so Hope has to keep her religion a secret--though she refuses to lie about it if asked directly.
During the three years she's been adventuring, Hope has endured some severely traumatic experiences, and has recently developed a slightly bitter, cynical streak, which usually only surfaces in the wake of a painful experience, or when one of her friends is in danger. She is still a sweet, innocent girl, but is not and has never been naďve. She grew up in a country not unlike Transylvania or Ravenloft, and her parents were killed by vampires when she was seven years old (she grew up in an orphanage, helping to look after the younger children). She adventures, not for wealth or glory (being a follower of Kahla-Ran, she expects never to have either of these), but because there are people who need help, and because she wants to protect her friends and loved ones, with whom she travels. There are, however, three things for which she has no sympathy: demons (her goddess is charged with the task of keeping the demons imprisoned in the Hells), creatures that serve the Titans (the blasphemous enemies of the gods), and "heretics" who murder unwilling innocents in the name of Kahla-Ran.
Goff
2007-05-12, 12:57 AM
Character: Nuturion
Genre: High fantasy - DnD
Class/Occupation: Rogue 10, Thief Acrobat 1 / His occupation ranges from cat burglar (preferred occupation), to pickpocket, to adventurer, to acrobat and street performer, to even tailor when he’s desperate.
Race: Standard PHB Elf
Age/Apparent Age: 120, so as far as elves go pretty young, I guess early twenties sort of look.
Gender: Male
Height: 5’ 1”
Weight: 120lb
Build: That of an acrobat, slender and lithe with good central strength (STR 12).
Hair Colour/Style: Straight black hair past his shoulder blades, brushed out of his face.
Skin Colour: Quite pale, being from a rather cold environment.
Distinguishing Features: Golden eyes (a light amber colour), a nasty scar on his left leg (under clothes), black tattoo of the silhouette of an elven woman dancing naked beneath a sun eclipsed by a crescent moon on his left shoulder (under clothes)
Clothing/Armour: Nuturion sports this years fashion for the up and coming young acrobat. First, a black silken shirt undone just enough to show off his mithral chain shirt – an essential for dealing with an unsatisfied customer. The close fitting body and sleeves of both of these shirts ensure that there will be no elf-gore left in those nasty traps that can catch loose sleeves. Over these Nuturion can be seen wearing a beautiful rich red velvet waistcoat, adorned with golden buttons that just scream elven quality. At the waist he wears a fantastic accessory for the kleptomaniac on the go – a belt of many pouches. Sure this dark brown leather item seems to only have ten pouches on it, but say the command word and bang! You have access to an additional twenty pockets behind the original ten. Continuing downwards, there is a treat for the girls (or guys that way inclined) in his tight leather pants, these matte black pants are nothing magical, just a fantastic lower body covering for performance and… other activities. As we continue downwards, we can see that Nuturion has done away with the bog standard adventurer’s footwear of boots. Instead he sports the latest style from Axiomatus the Fallen Angel’s treasure horde – dancing slippers. The Slippers of Battledancing are the perfect footwear for an acrobat; soft, flexible and durable, providing a wide range of benefits – not least to tumbling (be creative with them if you like). Now as we head back up to Nuturion’s arms, we can see that he’s wearing this year’s model of Gloves of Dexterity – a back to basics mid-forearm length in dark brown from Galthwaite the Mechanical Mage’s Autumn Collection. Now, some may say that wearing too many rings is gaudy; however with this elf’s confidence and charisma, he is bound to pull it off. Now, on his left pinkie (underneath the gloves) he sports a simple leather band – a ring of sustenance. On his left pointer he sports an electrum ring of a laughing imp with obsidian eyes, fantastic no? On his right thumb a simple iron band, could this be more than it seems? His right pointer is adorned with this (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/cx_gallery/86403.jpg) ring, beautifully matched to his waistcoat. Finally, on his right ring finger a ring carved of amber with a shiny blue beetle trapped in this once resin atop the ring. Now, if we follow Nuturion’s arms back up to his shoulders, you can see him proudly wearing an adventuring relic of yesteryear. This black dragonskin cloak complete with old adventurer style hood just proves what’s old is new again. With a beautiful little golden clasp of a dragon’s head biting down on a small golden ring to draw it closed, this most shiny cloak just exemplifies the raw adventuring essence of bygone days.
Weapons: Nuturion sports a custom baldric adorned with a Keltic knot design direct from the Goblin Isles complete with a set of four cursed daggers fastened to the strap for easy access. On the left hip however lies the masterpiece of this collection – Shadowspark. This mithral rapier causes shadows to wisp after it like a hand through smoke, and when used in battle reflects unseen light. The basket is a triumph of elven craftsmanship; the intricate design depicts a naked elven woman dancing beneath a sun eclipsed by a crescent moon. Bordering the design are a series of leaf and plant motifs that have so recently become the calling card of elven metallurgy. He has a polished obsidian dagger sheathed on his right hip, the brutal essence of the savage land he’s adventuring in. He also has some five or so other daggers of many varied designs secreted on his person, just in case. Also, a compound longbow, usually slung over the shoulder.
Misc. Equipment: A lightning zapping wand he has holstered below his daggers in his baldric, several scrolls he keeps tucked away in his pockets, most of what he has is either worn or in pockets.
Personality: Gregarious, cocky, roguish, cheeky, jovial, (dreadfully) witty, accepting, professional when down to his work for example with traps, locks and infiltration, calm and reverential in churches to Eilistraee, rather serious regarding his responsibility to help followers of Eilistraee escape the Underdark. He almost constantly wears a slight playful smirk on his face, almost like he knows something you don’t (there’s a good chance he does). When you get down to it, he’s a fun person to be around, and at his core, a good guy. He’s sly and observant, yet cannot resist the allure of pressing big red buttons or pulling levers. He constantly seems to be taking in his surroundings with his calm, intelligent eyes. Nuturion enjoys his job and life in general, there is barely a gram of angst in him. Even stranded along way from home, with good company he is often smiling.
If you want an archetype, then loveable rogue it is.
A couple of OOTS style versions of him:
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e320/TheStoneyOne/nuturion5.gif http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e320/TheStoneyOne/nuturion4.gif
I hope it's visual enough, tried to have fun with the description.
If there's anyone interested, here's a little section of events from one game that I've written, it gives you an idea of his character. By no means is it essential. [Sorry if this is bothersome tesen, I'll remove it if you like]
Montgomery Snake’s Elevated Academy, the most prestigious adventuring college east of the Great Range. The dining hall is busy, dinner is approaching, the young bards and illusionists play songs and put on light shows for their own amusement. At the other end of the long dining table sit the apprentice warriors, some savage, some highly trained, some crusaders in the making, all horsing around boisterously, no doubt boasting their prowess. The other two dining tables in the warm, tapestried hall are relatively empty, the odd young cleric or spy in training wandering in to sit down. Right in the middle of the farthest table sits one of the few elves in the academy - Nuturion. A faint smile plays across his lips as he observes the goings on across the room, his hands busily working away. Toktoktoktok He wondered if Gharadhel, his old friend was going to eat tonight, or stay in the library studying religious tomes. An elf following a human god, the Highlands harbour some strange folk. Toktoktoktok Or if anyone else in his lockpicking class would finish that lock tonight and make it to dinner. Toktoktoktok Or if Ilky or Syph, some of his training companions, were coming soon. Toktoktoktok Or if perhaps the tiefling Sar’Pynestae (also a training companion) had finished teaching her snake to stop slithering down people’s shirts. Toktoktoktok Speaking of, Sar’Pynestae usually arrived for dinner around now, I wonder where she…
“HEY! Nuturion, watcha up to?”
ToktoktokSKITCH!
Nuturion had absently been stabbing his dagger between his fingers on the table - right up until the tiefling surprised him. His dagger stood proudly upright, pinning the elf’s palm to the table. Nuturion winced, grabbing hold of the dagger and reefing it out of the table and hand. Meanwhile the Gharadel, accompanied by the druid Syph, walked into the hall. Blood spread across the table. In a lightning action Nuturion whipped around and clocked Sar’Pynestae on the jaw.
“Oh dear…” Gharadhel stopped in his tracks, as Sar’Pynestae tackled Nuturion to the ground. Nuturion smiled looking up at her red eyes flaring with rage below her shiny black vestigial horns.
‘This would probably seem really intimidating if I didn’t know her.’ He thought. Sar’Pynestae lifted her fist through her curls of red hair. Syph made his move, pressing an acorn into her hand. In the swiftest of moments it burst open, enveloping her in vines, leaving her bound and writhing on the ground. Nuturion giggled gleefully, clasping his hand.
“Why do you two always have to act like children?” Gharadhel said, extending his hand to Nuturion.
“She started it,” Nuturion retorted, getting to his feet. The tiefling made vine muffled protest. “Besides, if you had your way, it’d be terribly dull around here.” Gharadel sighed, tending to his friend’s wound.
The bards continued playing, the warriors continued boasting - just another page in Nuturion and Sar’Pynestae’s tempestuous friendship.
I'm not sure whether to take that seriously or as a lampoon on my mini-rant... :smallconfused:
And actually, I'm going to ammend my previous statement and say that You are absolutely free to put background info and stuff, but I'd prefer it in Spoiler tags :)
But again I'm going to say: Put the description block in QUOTES, please :smallbiggrin:
Goff
Actually, I wrote most of that before your mini-rant, I was just in a mood to write, and this was a readily available subject. I figured that the most polite thing to do was to spoiler the unnecessary exercise in prose, not wanting to hijack the thread and all. As for the fashion-show description of my character, well... let's just say that I'm not a fan of simply listing off a range of attributes. I had fun with it, but I genuinely would like to see Nuturion rendered in your style.
:smallwink: Enjoy.
Well, I'll give this another go. 'Cause I really want a character portrait. :smallsmile:
Character: Fisher
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Class/Occupation: bodyguard
Race: troll
Age/Apperent Age: mid-20's
Gender: female
Height: 8'10"
Weight: probably whatever is average/a little heavy for 8'10". She's got alot of muscle.
Build: Even though she's fairly muscular, she's quite lean- perhaps even lanky.
Hair Color/Style: Dark blue, cropped to an inch or two long
Skin Color: pale blue
Distinguishing Features: horns protruding from her forehead, slightly pointed ears, sometimes wears Maori-style facepaint (http://www.hawaiiactivities.com/website/activities/images/PCC_Maori_T1.jpg) while working as a bodyguard or going into battle.
Clothing/Armor: A mix of modern and fantasy elements- like, a t-shirt over a somewhat worn chainmail shirt, bepocketed cargo pants, and combat boots. Medieval style vambraces (maybe also greaves?)?
Weapons: She carries a large sword in her right (a huge two-hander for anyone else, but sort of normal one-handed size for her) and a smaller sword in her left. Alternately, she sometimes carries a shield in her offhand made of a fire-serpent's scale.
Misc. Equipment: magical amulet, small black bird (neither very important)
Personality: Serious, with a side of sarcastic. She's used to having to look out for those smaller than her (which is nearly everyone), but she has a highly inappropriate, black sense of humor.
Character: Rahsen
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Occupation: Mage/Necromancer
Race: Dark Elf
Age/Apperent Age: around 220 years old (around 25)
Gender: Male
Height: Around 5'7"
Weight: About 130 lbs
Build: Wiry
Hair Color/Style: White/shoulder length
Skin Color: Pale
Distinguishing Features: n/a
Clothing/Armor: Black robes, and a black necklace with a black stone, inset with a red ruby inlay in the shape of a crescent moon.
Weapons: A dagger that occaisonally peeks out from under his long sleeves
Misc. Equipment: a belt with a few pouches of various necromancy reagents.
Personality: Haughty, self-important, but smart enough to kiss up to those more powerful than he... until they are no longer more powerful...
A pale, wiry dark elf stands here, draped in pitch colored robes. A
white head of hair falls to his shoulders, rather unkempt. A chain of
foreign metal is hung about his neck, secured to a strange pendant made of
an unknown black stone. Ruby inlay on the stone creates the sign of
Drakkara, and it glows softly. Flowing sleeves cover his arms, obscuring
his hands, which are constantly holding or manipulating something. A glint
of a dagger peeks out from under the right sleeve, quickly hidden again by a
shake of the wrist. A wicked smile plays across his face, lighting it from
within with a cruel light.
His angular dark-elven features are plain, but the light of self-importance
lights up his steel grey eyes. His slight frame indicates little time spent
outside, as is also evidenced by his corpse-pale skin. An assortment of
strange items on his person instead suggests a life as a mage, and a rather
dark one at that. Bits of organic substances and bones give off a slight
odor of rot from a series of small bags around his waist. An evil feeling
emanates from his entire being, and his eyes dare anyone to question his
motives
Also: The guy in my avatar and sig is a different character. Just to make a note.
I have a couple I'd very much like to see done properly.
The first was mentioned in Goff's background of Nuturion. I'll do the other, Shea, some time when it's not 4am. Unless you'd rather I didn't.
Character: Sar'Pynestae Tahlae
Genre: High Fantasy - D&D
Class/Occupation: Variant (non-magical) Ranger 9, favoured enemies evil outsiders and aberrations.
Race: 3/4 elf, 1/4 succubus
Age/Apparent Age: 116 - quite young for an adventuring elf, about the equivalent of a 20-year-old human
Gender: Female
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 250lb
Build: Slender but sturdy (weighs much more than she looks - demon blood has given her extra-heavy bones)
Hair Color/Style: Bright red, thick, not frizzy but difficult to control. Usually contained under a headscarf unless in formal wear.
Skin Color: Very pale, prone to blushing.
Distinguishing Features: Pointed teeth, small shiny black horns (like a young goat's), completely black eyes with red irises (think X-Man Gambit).
Clothing/Armor: Formal: The obviously fiendish yet undeniably attractive woman raised her eyebrow as your eyes fixed first on her less usual features. Now, as your eyes pass down her shapely figure, a blush steals over her porcelain cheeks. Nestled in her wild, flame-red hair is a headband of red silk with a dark red stone set in the centre of her forehead. Earings of the same stone dangle from her delicately pointed ears, a silver necklace of similar style with the same stone between her breasts, and a matching ring on her finger. Beneath the ring, extending over her elbows are soft red gloves. On each of her upper arms is an expertly worked silver armband in the shape of stylised snakes. A red fox-fur stole warms shoulders left unprotected by an ankle-length, sleeveless dress of dark red velvet. High red leather boots grace her well-formed calves. A tiny red-, black- and white-striped viper twines through her fingers.
Adventuring: The creature who holds you at her mercy wears an impressive set of studded leafweave armour which appears to have been improved upon with the better part of a balor. Its studs are of bone, spikes jut out from various places, and the two halves of a demonic skull forms each shoulder (your interpretation here is probably at least as good as mine - eye-holes = arm holes?), the horns curving to the side and behind. A tough leather skirt covers her lower half, and beneath this are sturdy and fur-lined boots - Boots of the Winterlands, no doubt. A pair of wooden bracers, depicting chimeras etched in silver, protect her forearms. An amulet of health hangs around her neck, and a cloak of resistance from her shoulders. The cloak is fastened with a gold and garnet phoenix-shaped pin and on one hand there is a ring of blue stone (a Ring of Cold Resistance) and on the other a slave and master bracelet (like this (http://www.gryphonsmoon.com/cat/jewelry/bracelets-anklets/dragon-handflower.t.jpg), but feel free to take liberties with the design - I like the ones with a panel on the back of the hand).
Weapons:She is holding a very well-made longsword of elven design to your throat and an equally well-made, plainer shortsword, apparently made from a special metal such as adamantine, to your gut. There is also a longbow over her shoulder, Sylvan scimitar at her waist, a good quality heavy mace on her back and a dagger in her boot. (Formal: she keeps the dagger under her skirt).
Misc. Equipment: She has lately taken to collecting potentially useful parts from creatures she kills. To date she has: the tongue, wing membranes, teeth, claws, hide and large scales of a white dragon; a bottle of blood, hide, teeth, and assorted parts from a green dragon; and nine teeth four stalk eyes and one main eye from a baby beholder. These are usually kept in her bag of holding but may be pulled out from time to time for cleaning, treating, working or simply to look. She also has various fungi samples, a tan bag of tricks, and a silver and topaz dice set.
Personality: Although possessing of stunning good looks courtesy of her succubus grandmother, she is relatively lacking in self-confidence and social skills. Reasonably introverted, a forced stint in the Blood Wars has also made her unpredictable and slightly unhinged in certain situations. It also honed both her skills in tracking and fighting demons and devils and her hatred of them. Her reaction to anti-tiefling prejudice varies with mood - she might laugh it off, fall into a deep depression, or seek blood for any insult. She can take a good little while to come to trust someone, generally expecting them to turn on her at any moment, but when she chooses to adventure with someone she considers it a personal failure should they come to harm. With her friends, she is amiable, pleasant and good for a laugh. To her enemies, she is merciful when she can be or is so inclined but not predisposed to diplomacy. Should she ever return to the Hells or the Abyss, it is likely that she would slip back into her survive-at-all-costs soldier mode.
Sar'Pynestae's version of Nuturion's story.
Sar'Pynestae entered the huge dining hall of Montgomery Snake's Aerial Academy and scoped the room. She avoided the glares of the self-righteous muscle-heads, smiled and nodded to a girl she made a bracelet for, and spotted her friend Nuturion sitting alone. His back was to her and he didn't notice as she approached. As she drew near she noted that he was playing "Lets See If The Cocky Elf Can Chop His Own Finger Off", and furthermore not even paying proper attention. Sharp teeth shined as she smiled mischieviously at the thought of teaching him a lesson in humility and caution - surely he was quick (and vain) enough to avoid damaging himself, and a scare would do him good. Sneaking up behind him, she gave him a cheery, but abrupt, greeting. She barely had time to notice the stream of blood before his fist connected with her chin. Her eyes misted red, and before she knew it she'd tackled him onto the floor. She raised her fist to beat the smirk off his face when something small and hard was pressed into her hand. Suddenly she found herself completely entwined and unable to move. The red mist quickly faded away, and once she could move again she smiled at the elf and shook hands, laughed and shrugged it off (with much debate as to who started it). Still, there was a lingering disappointment that she didn't get to return the blow...
Well, I've read through [most of] the characters and I have not yet found THE character who jumps out at me.
So it's still anyones game :D
I'm gonna have to get my masterwork minotaur out then.
I really wanted my dark elf, but I can make do.
Character: Nahur Kijix
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Occupation: Bodyguard/sailor
Race: Minotaur
Age/Apperent Age: 87 years old (About 30)
Gender: Male
Height: 7'8"
Weight: About 700 lbs
Build: Corded muscular
Hair Color/Style: Furry- red stripe of fur down his back, brown fur everywhere ekse
Skin Color: n/a
Distinguishing Features: aforemented stripe.
Clothing/Armor: Mismatched plate mail with cloth underclothes, for sailing.
Weapons: Three swords, two on his back, one at his hip, daggers in sheathes all over his body, usually arms/legs. 2 maces and 2 axes attached by chains at his belt. Whips coiled and strapped to his legs.
Misc. Equipment: A belt with numerous pouches.
Personality: Kind, but proud. Nahur will fly into a berserker rage if any of the beings he has sworn his life to are threatened in any manner, and will subsequently attempt to bludgeon and gore them until they stop being a threat :smallbiggrin:.
Looming at seven feet, eight inches, Nahur towers over many of the
smaller races, dwarfing them in height and strength. Corded muscles ripple
underneath chestnut fur, and along the back of his neck and down his spine
is a single stripe of rusty red hair. His eyes are dark, like pools of
pitch, though they are kind in nature. His horns dive over his head like
ivory daggers, tapering to a dagger-fine point.
His attire is a moderated affair of the old and new. New armor shines on
his legs and torso, while dented pauldrons and gauntlets adorn his hands and
arms. Cloth underclothes cushion the plates against his furry hide, and a
series of gleaming and dulled weapons hang from every coceivable part of his
body. No less than two swords are strapped to his back, with another at his
hip. A pair of maces swing at his belt, accompanied by two wicked-looking
axes, all stamped with the seal of clan Kijix. Daggers gleam from sheathes
all about his body, from his arms to his boots. Every knife is immaculately
polished and honed to a razor-fine tip that would scythe through flesh like
parchment. These too, are engraved with the mark of his clan.
Height: 6'3
Weight: 200 lbs
I'd be interested to see your interpretation of Kennit.
Character: Kennit MerLaque
Genre: Fantasy
Class/Occupation: Bard/Pirate!
Race: Human
Age/Apperent Age: 29
Gender: male
Height: 5'11
Weight: Yes
Build: Lean
Hair Color/Style: Blonde/Jaw-length
Skin Color: Tanned
Distinguishing Features: Strong jaw, pleasant smile. Dashing.
Clothing/Armor: Sometimes a chain shirt, but usually just cloth.
Weapons: A rapier, or a Pistol
Misc. Equipment:
Personality:
A good bard loves everyone, and everyone loves them. A neutral bard cares little for the hearts he breaks, and the others? Some bards revel in the broken hearts and ruined marriages they leave behind them. They take pleasure in the suffering and sadness their free-spirited ways and mournful, soul-searing music leaves.
Kennit, touch wood, has so far proven himself an unusually competent member of Golden Guy's pirate crew, and sails with him on the Minor Debacle, Guy's two-master. On a hand-picked, head-hunted crew of misfits, Kennit sought out Guy, believing him the ideal way of immortalising himself. Kennit would write Guy's song, a tale of blood-soaked waters and no quarter shown. Guy's name would be used to frighten children to sleep, and that idea has a special place in Kennit's scabbed-over heart.
A fatherless son of a common prostitute, Kennit has spawned rumours of noble parentage, or mysterious birthrights and strange stories of his upbringing. Was it true about the crown-shaped birthmark and the heirloom sword? What about the eagle that alighted on his cradle when he was born? Even Kennit is not sure about the truth of these rumours, as so delighted is he in his lies, that he adds to them whenever possible.
Golden Guy has yet to live up to his history of viciousness, and Kennit champs at the bit. Can he turn a bad man to be worse or will Kennit's desire for evil and infamy prompt a confrontation with the good captain? Who knows?
(( I really DON'T know, we haven't finished the campaign yet! ))
Bring on the randomness(I added eye color if thats ok)
Character: Akados the Caster(no last name)
Genre:Fantasy(I hope)
Class/Occupation:Wizard5/voice of reason
Race:Elf
Age/Apperent Age: 98/(to humans) 30?
Gender:Male
Height:6'1"
Weight:120 lbs.
Build:tall, incrediby agile, intelligent, calm, and sturdy not very common for elves
Hair Color/Style:green/ pulled back as if the wind were constantly keeping it in check or let it explode in a flurry green.
Eye Color:purple:smallbiggrin:
Skin Color: darker than pale but a bit lighter than tan
Distinguishing Features:hair and eyes and bulges in certain areas such as shoes, cuffs, and neck area(scrolls)
Clothing/Armor:Clothing of a farmer with a slanted round (feadora?) cap to not stand out no armor
Weapons:Longswords(2) and 1 long bow
Misc. Equipment:Lots of scrolls and many pockets holding odd things like caltrops, A clear orb with a glowing blue light, and a couple healing salves.
Personality: Very calm and collected but does not have a lot of patience, although neutral usally goes out of the way to help his only 2 remainig friends. He knows when to back down and if needed will push his friend out of the way of danger even if he is knocked unconcious. Is not very trusting of any race especially his own.
I would prefer if you could have him leaning on a tree gazing off either thoughtfully or catiously at his important friends
I hope this was done correctly
>sigh< Oh well, it'll be cool to see Nuturion portrayed. I may still put Shea up sometime (a half-orc rogue/cat lord (aka. Shea is the Cat's Mother) I still have a soft spot for), if there's a chance you'll do something else.
Wow, that's fantastic news. I am honestly pleased to hear that my slightly unorthadox entry was in some way inspirational, I had a lot of fun writing it. It's a little late here, so I am not awfully articulate, suffice to say that I am very pleased to know that Nuturion is being rendered by such a skilled artist. I've checked out your deviantART gallery and am very impressed, I especially like Theodoric Longblade (looks like a real adventurer), Fantast-X and your various gansters, although, the Sexy Pirate Woman is not without her charm either. :smallwink:
Thank you very much, I must say that I am eagerly awaiting the preliminary sketches.
Added In-progress lineart to the Main post :)
Goff
2007-05-13, 09:47 PM
Firstly, they look great, I especially like the pose. The pants look like what I'm after, and I like what you've done with the slippers (that's always been a part that has stumped me in describing his attire in game). The equipment is looking good on the whole, and I think the hair is pretty good (it's pretty variable in game because as an elf he sometimes goes a very long time between cuts). For the waistcoat, this (http://www.thewaistcoatman.org.uk/velvet_waistcoats.html) site gives a relatively good idea of the sort of cut I usually imagine, but as long as it provides a good level of movement it's fine.
There are only two points where he doesn't look so much as I imagined.
His face is a little broader and squarer than I imagined him, as Serpentine just said to me, he's a bit of a pretty-boy. I think that I invisaged him with perhaps a bit more of a young David Bowie to his face. From what I gather, the face is often the hardest place to please the customer, I guess I'm no exception. :smallbiggrin:
The other thing is that the daggers on his baldric are a little small, and I thought of them being strapped on diagonally - easy for throwing, but won't fall out easily.
That said, I love the pose and I think that the cheeky smile you have done on the preliminary sketches is great. Once again, thank you so much for choosing my character, you're doing a great job.
tensen01
Hmmm, I'll see what I can do about the face, I'll work on the daggers too.
Glad you like it so far, though.
2007-05-14, 05:25 PM
Okay, here's a rework of the lines(still liught enough to change if need be)
I fixed the face and I think it's a lot better.
I'm still having trouble with the knives since for it to work they either need to be small or the baldric would need to be extra-wide.
Also the swords not coming off as Elvish as I'd like, but it's still In Progress :)
(anyway I think he has plenty of ranks in Escape Artist)
Goff
2007-05-14, 09:14 PM
Wow, that's looking good. I definately agree with you about the face, much closer to what I imagined. I see what you mean about the baldric, I think what you've done is an improvement though. Perhaps if they were at right angles to the baldric they could still allow easier access and let them be bigger (maybe the opening to the sheathe sharing the upper edge of the baldric?). I'm just trying to float some suggestions there though, I'll wager that as an artist you have a better idea of the aesthetics and what works.
I'm not sure about this; but I don't know if the eyes are quite as 'elven' as I would like. I guess I imagine elves as having slightly angled and slightly larger eyes, however this is a minor quibble, and I know different artists have many different variations on the way elves look. If you want a visual example of what I mean I'll go dig one up a little later (sorry I'm a little busy at this moment).
That said, I really like the life you've captured in the eyes and the smile, and if this would affect that in any way, don't worry yourself - it's the most minor of things. And I think that the overall piece is fantastic; the minor nitpicks, in my mind, are the only things that stop it from being perfect. You've done a fantastic job, I commend you.
Oh and happy birthday (I think - I'm not sure about the whole time-zone thing).
EDIT: And yes I'm sure that Nuturion can find a way to get out of (or other people into) his pants. It also helps if you have ranks in escape artist and some 'freeglide' from the Complete Adventurer. :smallbiggrin:
With the line about the tattoo, or the line about the pants? Although I suppose they are somehow related. I mean, seriously, something must have prevented him from thinking about what that's gonna look like in 400 years or so.
But that's good to hear nonetheless.
Anyway, tensen...how do the laces on the side help? Or was that sarcasm. I can't tell if you were being silly or you actually thought that side laces would assist in any way. If the latter...please explain.
