Prophet

(Optional text, suitable for http://www.giantitp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=19Tears of Blood Campaign setting). Priests with an extremely powerful link to their God, the prophets are self-styled “Healers of Weeping”, a title they owe to the fact that they revealed their power a day before the plague ended. As a Prophet grows in power they will spend more and more time in quiet prayer and contemplation of their God. Note: Plague-touched may not be Prophets.
(Normal text) Priests with an extremely powerful link to their God, the prophets show amazing magical flair, but their divine power does not correspond to their physical prowess. Prophets can occasionally trace their heritage to their God’s servants, although this is not common. As a Prophet grows in power they will spend more and more time in quiet prayer and contemplation of their God.
HD: D4 The amount of time a prophet spends in prayer leaves them quite weak.
Alignment: That of their God.

Class skills:
The prophet’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (history) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Profession (Wis), and Spellcraft (Int).
Domains and Class Skills: A prophet who chooses the Animal or Plant domain adds Knowledge (nature) (Int) to the prophet class skills listed above. A prophet who chooses the Knowledge domain adds all Knowledge (Int) skills to the list. A prophet who chooses the Travel domain adds Survival (Wis) to the list. A prophet who chooses the Trickery domain adds Bluff (Cha), Disguise (Cha), and Hide (Dex) to the list.
Skill Points at 1st Level: (2 + Int modifier) x4.
Skill Points at Each Additional Level: 2 + Int modifier.

Table: The Prophet.

1. In addition to the stated number of spells per day for 1st-through 9th-level spells, a prophet gets a domain spell for each spell level, starting at 1st. The "+1" in the entries on this table represents that spell. Domain spells are in addition to any bonus spells the prophet may receive for having a high Charisma score.

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: The Prophet is proficient with simple weapons, light and medium armor, but not with any shields. A prophet who chooses the War domain receives the Weapon Focus feat related to his God’s weapon as a bonus feat. He also receives the appropriate Martial Weapon Proficiency feat as a bonus feat, if the weapon falls into that category.

Spells: A prophet casts divine spells, which are drawn from the cleric spell list. However, his alignment may restrict him from casting certain spells opposed to his moral or ethical beliefs. A prophet cast’s spells spontaneously.
To cast a spell, a prophet must have a Wisdom score equal to at least 10 + the spell level. The Difficulty Class for a saving throw against a prophet’s spell is 10 + the spell level + the prophet’s Wisdom modifier.
Like other spellcasters, a prophet can cast only a certain number of spells of each spell level per day. His base daily spell allotment is given on Table: The Prophet. In addition, he receives bonus spells per day if he has a high Charisma score. A prophet also gets one domain spell of each spell level he can cast, starting at 1st level. When a prophet prepares a spell in a domain spell slot, it must come from his domain (see Domains and Domain Spells, below).
Prophets meditate or pray for their spells. Each prophet must choose a time at which he must spend a ¼hour each day per 2 levels in quiet prayer or contemplation to regain his daily allotment of spells.
Unlike other divine casters, prophets know only a limited amount of spells, owing to their unique divine link.
Table: Prophet spells known.

Domains and Domain Spells: A prophet chooses one domain from among those belonging to his God. A prophet can select an alignment domain (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law) only if his alignment matches that domain.
This domain gives the prophet access to a domain spell at each spell level he can cast, from 1st on up, as well as a granted power.

Turn or Rebuke Undead (Su): Any prophet, regardless of alignment, has the power to affect undead creatures by channeling the power of his faith through his holy (or unholy) symbol (see Turn or Rebuke Undead).
A good prophet can turn or destroy undead creatures. An evil prophet instead rebukes or commands such creatures. A neutral prophet must choose whether his turning ability functions as that of a good prophet or an evil prophet. Once this choice is made, it cannot be reversed.
A prophet may attempt to turn undead a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier. A prophet with 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (religion) gets a +2 bonus on turning checks against undead.

Aura (Ex): A prophet of a chaotic, evil, good, or lawful God has a particularly powerful aura corresponding to the God’s alignment (see the detect evil spell for details, on the cleric column).

Aura of Greatness (Su): A prophet of 5th level or higher may designate any creatures within 20 ft. of him to use either his or their will saves, whichever is higher. This is before racial or divine adjustments.

Ex-Prophets
A prophet who grossly violates the code of conduct required by his god loses all spells and class features, except for armor proficiencies and proficiency with simple weapons. He cannot thereafter gain levels as a prophet of that god until he atones (see the atonement spell description).

Well, what do you think?:smallwink:

My idea for a prophet class was to remove "spells known" completely, and say that the prophet could cast any spell of the divination school spontaneously. Maybe allow the prophet to cast Bless and other similar spells as well, and then you're laughing.
