Location of the rifts

Does anyone else think that where the gates open up to the other world might be important? Maybe the Snarl didn't reach out through Soon's gate because it was in space, while Draketooth's gate was in the middle of an ocean/sea/lake on the planet and was noticed by the Snarl.

Have we seen the Gobbotopia rift since the Snarl came out through Girard's gate? It's quite possible Lauren's probing woke the snarl and it stretched out through all three open gates.

Four Gates. And it is possible that the Snarl reached out of the other Rifts as well. We won't know until we see Gobbotopia again.
