I really like sonic damage and its flavour, and I've been trying to build a character around the concept for some time now. A sort of shouty Dovahkiin/Banshee from X-Men type. The problem is that I can't find any specific class or archetype that seems especially well suited to that. Should I just build a wizard or sorcerer and pick as many sonic spells as I can?

Dragonfire Adept (with some DM help to get sonic early (probably as your starter breath weapon))

Dragonfire Adept seems especially good for the concept. Invocations can be reflavored pretty easily, and are generally at-will or all-day.

Bard or Sorcerer is probably your best bet. Or maybe try Kineticist and see if your GM will let you swap in Sonic for one of the element types?

See if you can convince your GM to allow sonic as an energy type for the Draconic bloodline arcana. Now you can make all your elemental damage sonic. Fireball? You mean Sonic Boom?

If it's allowed, go with the Assimar's pre-errata'd favored class bonus to Weird Words. Gives you the ability to use it like a 9th level bard at 6th.

(Effective Bard Level (max 10))*(2d6 + 2xCha Mod) damage as a standard action.
